I found out yesterday that I am pregnant with DC2. I am really pleased as we only started trying on Christmas Eve so I am only about four weeks pregnant.

I have told my best friend but I think DP and I will wait to tell family and friends until after the scan. Anyone else due in September and fancy a chat?

PrincessScrumpy · 24/03/2011 17:36

hi Ann - they will be my dc2 and 3 as I have a 3-year-old dd. We only planned 2 dc but someone had other ideas! Very excited though Grin

They know they are id as they are in the same sac (but with a membrane down the middle which is a good thing and gives a higher survival rate) and they share one placenta. The scan was really clear and as the sonographer has seen the scan at 6 weeks and 12 +4 weeks so she was able to see that they are definitely ID.

Has caused a lot of talk in my family as I had an ID twin and we were the first in the family. Bit coincidental for me to have twins too but it's not hereditary when they're id.

PrincessScrumpy · 24/03/2011 17:40

A friend of dh bought one for his dp - after a weekend of her being in tears while he was at work because she couldn't find the hb, and him rushing home to check and being able to find the hb straight off, he took it back! Smile

I wouldn't be able to tell twins hb otherwise I'd want one - I have to be scanned every fortnight as it's the only way for them to see the heart beats.

Off to Peppa Pig World this weekend for the opening day. I think it officially opens in April. I'm looking forward to it but feel exhausted at the thought too!

summerpixie · 24/03/2011 19:21

princessScrumpy you must report back about Peppa Pig land. DS has already requested a visit for Easter. He's mad about Thomas and we have been to Drayton Manor every year with him so far but it's so far away. Paultons is just over an hour away so it doesn't seem too bad.
I filled in my Jury Summons form today requesting to be deferred and when I wrote down 15 weeks pregnant it seemed like such a small number of weeks and I actually have 25 more weeks to go!
Only 2 more weeks until Easter Hols, though. Very much needed, yet I have a huge list of stuff to do that's work related! I'm just glad the Easter break is a nice long one with the 3 day return then a long weekend again! Roll on last 2 weeks of term and hurry up 20 week scan date!

PrincessScrumpy · 24/03/2011 19:28

Will let you know what it's like.

I can't wait until end of term but we have a whole school event that I'm co-running with the head of business (years 7-10 so about 800 pupils). It's going to be a very busy day and I'm sure I've forgotten something. Once it's over, I have my first consultant appointment, then I can relax (a bit).

JazzAnnNonMouse · 25/03/2011 08:02

ID twins are quite amazing really but how come you can't hear the heartbeat unless in a scan, too small? (presuming twins are small- they normally are smaller aren't they?)
Have fun at peppa pig land - oh god I've all this shit to come haven't I... Grin

summerpixie · 25/03/2011 19:12

Jazz I think it may be something to do with 2 heartbeats and being unable to distinguish between to two for PrincessScrumpy's twins.
I am waiting until my 20 week scan before I consider a doppler. I will be scanned more often if I have IUGR so no need for a doppler. However, they are great for those who are worried but then as princessScrumpy has mentioned there is the other side of the coin where women freak out when they can't find the heartbeat!
Thank god it's the weekend! DS fell asleep in the car and now in bed, so I am all alone (with the cats) until DH returns. I can finally watch TV programmes that I want to watch without interruptions!
Enjoy your weekend X

JazzAnnNonMouse · 25/03/2011 20:18

IUGR?
I seriously have no idea about pregnancy this indepth!

I'm all alone with my cat too - DP has gone out dressed as buzz lightyear Hmm Grin

I hate being alone! Can't ban him from going out can I!

candr · 27/03/2011 11:38

Hi, nice to find some people to chat to who are at same stage. Due with 1st baby on Sep 25th. Am primary teacher and worried about school parents finding out I won't be there in Sep. Only one kid asked if I had a big lunch so far but won't be long before have to come clean. Had scan which was amazing and on 20 week countdown now. Roll on Easter hols could do with a break.

PrincessScrumpy · 27/03/2011 16:48

Hi candr - I think it's quite usual in Primary Schools. At least you've done the whole school year. I think people will be happy for you (they had children once if the are parents! Smile

Yes Jazz it's about distinguishing between the two hbs.

AppleyEverAfter · 27/03/2011 18:52

Hi Candr I'm due with my first on the 25th too! Got next scan at 19 weeks, seems so far away though I wish I could have one now. Are you going to find out the sex, and is anyone else going to? DH wants to know but I'm a bit reluctant, would like a surprise...

candr · 27/03/2011 19:03

Hi Appevafter, the midwife says she thinks it is a boy, takes a bit of getting our heads round as we thought it was a girl but never know, 20 week scan should be more definate, yr right though seems like ages away. Got given some baby things today so suddenly feels quite real. They are so tiny and very cute. DH will have to share his birthday if baby arrives on time so hope it is a day early as nice to have one day that is special to you no matter what yr age.

WaspsAnkles · 27/03/2011 20:02

Have been to 16 week check up on Friday. Here in Germany we have the appointments with gynacologist and he did another scan - woohoo.

Were able to tell it's a boy and he's doing really well. We really wanted to know, but can understand that you might want the surprise, Appley. The whole family was convinced that it was going to be a girl so enough time for them to get used to the boy idea now.

Bring on 20 weeks everybody.

PrincessScrumpy · 27/03/2011 20:16

We had a lovely surprise with dd1 and were going to find out this time but lie to everyone so only we knew. However, as it's twins, we are now going to tell everyone. Not sure why it makes a difference but it does to us.

PrincessScrumpy · 28/03/2011 20:06

Peppa Pig World is lovely and dd (3) loved it. Not sure how long the queues will be when it's really busy, but you can also go in the main park at Paultons. DD is a bit of a daredevil and loved the bigger rides (she went on with dh as they weren't suitable for pg mums, all the Peppa Pig World rides were fine).

Kids under 1 metre go free.

eastegg · 29/03/2011 09:42

Hi. Had second attempt at nuchal scan last night and all went well. The blood test machine broke so sonographer is going to send results out in the post, or call this morning if there's a problem (haven't heard anything yet!) but all the other Down's markers were fine. Baby almost twice the length it was just over 2 weeks ago!

Definitely not finding out the sexif we can help it.

Valiant1 · 29/03/2011 10:14

Hi all, I have so much on at the moment havent had time to think about the 20 weeks scan but looked today and worked out it will be at 22 weeks, wil that be ok? i supose it must just seems a age away have to go see the m/w on the 16/4 and then consultant on the 21/4 . Have got up with a really bad back and also have the flu sorry having a moan hubby busy playing with ds2 and just keep getting "mmmmm" as an answer. Why do men love Lego?

eastegg · 29/03/2011 10:21

Valiant my hospital does the scan at 23 weeks as a matter of course. I don't know why. Means mine won't be until June.

NatzCNL · 29/03/2011 13:57

Hi all, lovely to see everyone is doing well. We are having our 20 week scan on the 11th May, and wishing the weeks away as we are going to tell our little girls they are going to be big sisters after the scan.

We didn't find out the sex of either of our little girls and it was so so lovely finding out ourselves at the birth. This time however I think we will find out as I want to prepare the girls as much as possible. DD1 is desperate for a little brother, but DD2 really wants a baby sister - they have been on about this for about 8 months, not sure if they figured out I was pregnant before, but they definately dont know this time. But think we will keep it a secret as much as possible form everyone else.

Vailant, hope you feel better soon. So horrible being unwell when pregnant. My DP is also obsessed with Lego...! Must be a man thing. He plays with it waaay more than the girls do.

PrincessScrummy thanks for the review of Peppa Pig world. My two are huge fans and are desperate to go there. Think we will do it in a few weeks to celebrate their impending big sisters status!

We are now letting friends and family know that we are expecting again. We kind of have to because my round tum is such a huge giveaway. My tummy muscles have decided that they are free to relax now for a few months, no matter how hard I try to hold it in, the bump keeps reappearing.... Well am nearly 15 weeks now so not going to beat myself up too much about it.

Candr, can I ask why your midwife thinks baby is a boy? Didn't think it was possible to tell this early on without a CVS or something. Our baby was due initially on the 25th Sept - my birthday, but NT scan has changed due date to 22nd, so hoping baby sticks to that date Grin. My 1st DD was born on 30th Sept and DP is 6th Oct, so hoping baby doesn't come late!!! Poor DD2 is a feb baby and all on her own, but at least she gets her cards up for longer.

Look forward to finding out what the thread babies are. Wil have to make a list of boys and girls, and surprises!

Valiant1 · 29/03/2011 15:16

My dd is the 30 of sept and when i went for my scan they gave me the 28th as my due date x i am the 14th of sept so hopefully be somewhere in between x

Lollyheart · 29/03/2011 16:55

Hi all, I posted at the beginning and have been lurking.
All is well I'm due dc4 on the 28th sept. I have a girl and two boys, ds2 and I share the same birthday sept 4th, my others have been a week or two early as we are on holiday at the beginning of sept.
Were going to keep this one a surprise.
I had my 16 week appointment today, well I'm 15-2, we heard the heart beatSmile

My mw is very into homebirths and I'm nearly convinced to go for it.
I've had 3 straight forward births, just need to convince dh.

It's feeling more real now, I can start to get excited now and not worry so much.

Lollyheart · 29/03/2011 16:57

Oops, it's meant to say I hope this one isn't early as were going on holiday at the beginning of sept Grin

Lollyheart · 29/03/2011 16:59

I give up lol , I'm due on the 18th not 28th

PrincessScrumpy · 29/03/2011 18:34

Hi Natz - I'm due on 22nd too - except they won't let me get that far so it's more like the date by which they will be here by.

G1nger · 29/03/2011 18:44

I thought I'd posted on this thread, but it's not showing up in my updates list. I'm based in London and due on 24th Sept. Hello!

candr · 29/03/2011 19:16

Hi Natz, MW said she thought she could see his willy quite clearly, DH had big grin at that one and said that of course it would be bigger than avarage. We both thought it would be a girl so taking some getting used to - will have a proper giggle if it turns out it was an arm or leg at 20 week scan-you never know. Am struggling at school as another teacher is pregnant and we have been asked not to tell parents till they have sorted out staffing for Sep, am finding it hard to hide bump and would actually quite like to show it off now that I have one (thought wearing my new gift T.shirt of 'Does my bump look big in this?' might do it). Valiant you poor thing as if being pregnant isn't tough enough without being ill. I am avoiding KS1 ids at the mo due to slapcheek, really hope I dont get that. x
