I found out yesterday that I am pregnant with DC2. I am really pleased as we only started trying on Christmas Eve so I am only about four weeks pregnant.

I have told my best friend but I think DP and I will wait to tell family and friends until after the scan. Anyone else due in September and fancy a chat?

Just checking in for this week. How was your scan JoJo ?
I had my scan on sunday and everything seemed fine. The sonographer had to ask me to empty my full bladder. I'd only drank half of what they told me to and had been busting for a pee for an hour! Nuchal fold measured 1.3.
I also had to have my booking and triple bloods done. Actually, it was more of a butchering than anything else. Took her 10 minutes to find a decent vein which then gave up after 2 bottles. She then stabbed me again a bit further down and had to push down hard on my arm to squeeze out some blood. Luckily, I'm not afraid of needles and have a high threshold of pain tolerance. My arm is still bruised though.
Came home today to find a letter from the hospital and was panicing thinking it was about the triple test results. Thankfully, it was a date for my 20 week scan! I am impressed at the efficiency of the ultrasound department, especially as my sonographer was much nicer than the one I had with DS (who hardly showed me the screen and didn't give me a commentary on what she was scanning).
I thought MW's were supposed to be kind and caring? Your one sounds like a bit of a dragon, Valiant.
Looking forward to hearing about your scans and updates! Have a good week everyone.

Valiant1 · 09/03/2011 20:42

She is but then i did tell her four years ago I NEVER wanted to see her again LOL I'm sure she meens well lol will see how she goes. I won't see her till the end of April now.

A 20 week scan seems sooooo far away right now lol i will be 13 weeks when i have my 12 week scan. and i have to wait till the 21st of march.

summerpixie were do you live as i didn't know they did scans on a weekend x

CrazyAlien06 · 10/03/2011 07:29

Glad your scan went well Summerpixie :) I hate blood tests :( I would have throttled the person taking it!
My scans a week today and terrified still. I havent had many symptoms at all, felt nauseous until a week ago which mw says is normal. Boobs were sore and bigger now settles back to normal. I am off work at the mo with a stomach bug :( joys of being a teacher!

Valiant1 · 10/03/2011 08:08

Oh hope you feel better soon crazy x

Jojo1983 · 10/03/2011 09:45

Also been told not to go to work for the rest of the week as I work in a nursery and have a case of slapped cheek going round soon have spent my time looking at baby stuff and wondering how on earth im going to afford it all and where its all going to fit!

CrazyAlien06 · 10/03/2011 11:05

Hi ladies, I posted right back at the beginning a few times. I had a bad 'feeling' about this pregnancy, which is why I did not post very often and that feeling was proved right yesterday when at my 12 week scan they found that my baby had died at 8 weeks. I am now having medical management of my MMC.

Good luck to you all, I will be thinking of you all in September - hope you all continue to have happy and healthy pregnancies. xxx

eastegg · 10/03/2011 15:46

So sorry about your news Brasso, you must be having a horrible time. I see you've only just posted; I just happen to have come on MN to check this thread for first time in a few days and am so sorry to see this news. All I can do is wish you the best of luck for the future.

CrazyAlien06 · 10/03/2011 16:41

Brasso I am so sorry :( my thoughts are with u. I have that same feeling and will find out next week about my pregnancy.

Keep strong and I am sure that you will have a little one very soon xxxxx

Valiant1 · 10/03/2011 16:55

Sorry Brasso hugs

I have been to see the dr today he say,s i have hypermessis thingy am losing wieght which on one hand is good i have some trousers i havent been able to fit in and on the other nothing staying down. he says it's a sign of anxiaty which i have lots of due to a not so very nice sister of mine saying i could lose the baby and know i don't know till the 21st. have so much going on with the others dsd tring get in uni and giving me attitude because her best friends not happy because she hanging out with her boyfriend.have told her it's not right but no i just the wicked evil stepmom...then my ds1 is going away to camp which i really not ready for and he is been bullied at school by a lad who i am almost certain wouldn't think twice about pushing him in a lake... he doesn't go till end of april but i so worried. sorry big moan feel drained dd kicking off now as she wants sweets grrrrrrrrrr only one behaving is ds2 and that cause he on the ps3.

summerpixie · 10/03/2011 17:23

Virtual hugs your way Brasso.

I had THE phonecall from the hospital today advising me that baby has a 1/30 chance of trisomaly abnormality. I have a CVS booked for monday. My NT scan was so low though, so I am trying to be positive. I have had a really busy day at work today so it was only when I left early that I had a little cry in the car on the way home. Not the best of ideas when driving. I guess I was crying because ALL mothers think that they will have a perfect baby and news like this knocks you off guard. A downs child is not a burden in my books but when you realise that the tests are for other trisomies it makes you think twice about the consequences. But anyway, I don't want to put a downer on people still waiting for their NT and triple test.

valiant I didn't think any hospital did scans on sunday either, but when I walked in it was HEAVING! Loads of big preggers women waiting for an antenatal class and about 4 others waiting for a scan. West London OT pay must be good for NHS staff!
Oh to top off my day, I got butchered 2x again! The lab claimed that one of my samples clotted before they got them. I think they spilt it!

YummyMummyBella · 10/03/2011 18:40

Hey ladies,

Went for my 12 week scan today and as presumed my due date moved from the 24th Sep to 19th Sep. The baby was relaxed and sleeping throughout so I got slightly worried and asked if it was normal for the baby to be so still, yes it is but just to reassure me the baby was alive and kicking I was made to turn on my left side and then lie on my back again. That seemed to do the trick and wake the lazy Buddha up (her legs were crossed throughout like a Buddha) as she was waving and moving about. Extremely happy and the papa was also very touched, was nice to see a softer side of him! I'm so sorry to hear it isn't good news all around.

CrazyAlien06 · 10/03/2011 19:12

Glad to read your fab news yummy just over a week until my scan:-) so nervous. X

chelstonmum · 11/03/2011 08:40

Hi everyone, we have house guests this week so first chance for update. Scan went well on Wednesday, baby was kicking away! DD moved back by three days and the consultant confirmed they will induce me at 37 weeks, so I guess I am getting an early September baby instead of a late one!

CrazyAlien06 · 11/03/2011 08:47

eastegg good luck with your scan today x

PrincessScrumpy · 11/03/2011 16:33

I have my scan on Monday - I'm so desperate to know both babies are okay.

summerpixie - I'm sorry you've got all this worry. That is why dh and I aren't having the tests, I've heard of so many people who have high odds but end up with healthy babies. We just figure we'll deal with whatever and knowing a bit earlier will probably just stress us out and do more harm to the baby. Hard decision to make though, especially with two - I did doubt our decision for a bit but we're sticking with it. I hope you get reassurance soon.

chelstonmum - why are they inducing you? Sorry, might have missed that.

Valiant1 · 13/03/2011 21:16

what a weekend been shopping with a grummpy 5 year old for school shoes, the optician to find i need glasses and he doesn't know how i have managed with out them. And Then today walked 5 miles to collect said grummpy child from aunty's after a much needed brake from her, now am going sleep. night all and hope all scans and book-ins go well this week x am getting exited only 1week to my scan xx

paternal · 13/03/2011 22:26

@ YummyMummyBella

You keep referring to the baby as she did they sex the baby at your 12 week scan? Or is it an unconscious habit? I'm just wondering as I would love to know our babies sex but thought they done it at 20 week scan.

chelstonmum · 14/03/2011 08:50

Hi PrincessScrumpy, good luck for today!

37week induction is due to previous severe pre-eclampsia with DS1 and DD1. They have put me on a low dose asprin (daily) and want to induce labour to ensure control in hospital, with infusion drip, to reduce risk of hemmorage as has happened in the past. Fingers crossed her plan works! x

eastegg · 14/03/2011 13:00

Good luck princess!

summerpixie I'm sorry you've got this to worry about and good luck for today. (don't get chance to MN much Friday-Monday so only just seen your news). All the best; I hope you get some reassurance very soon.

Well I had my so-called 12 week scan on Friday but they dated the baby as 10 weeks + 5 days and disappointingly just a little bit too small to do the NT screening so we've got to go back 2 weeks today. At least I wasn't worried about the baby when they said it was too small because I'd already worked out I was probably a week behind. I still thought they'd be able to do the Downs screening though as they say they can do it from 11 weeks in the blurb. PITA having to go back with work and a toddler to juggle, and disappointing to have to wait, but at least we got to see that there's a baby in there moving around.

Oh and I'm not supposed to be on here anymore as as I suspected my due date has moved to October (2nd). But I'm going to stay if that's OK!

YummyMummyBella · 14/03/2011 15:32

@ Paternal

No I wasn't told the sex, referring to the baby as she is wishful thinking (but obviously am happy either way as long as its healthy) and now a habit! So desperate to find out the sex. I've heard you might be able to find out at 14+ weeks, so very tempted to go for a private scan to find out!

Scan was all absolutely fine - both babies growing well with strong heart beats. Few! Not it's time to get dd to bed then to get a Chinese takeaway. Yum!

summerpixie · 14/03/2011 19:38

Glad your scan was fine and the twins are well PrincessScrumpy. Thanks for your well wishes eastegg.

The wait until the CVS this afternoon seemed to be an eternity. Now it has happened I am sort of relieved in a way but also worried about the results and the 2 week wait. Anyway, I won't clog up this thread with the details. I have posted it on the antenatal tests/choices area if anybody wants a read.
