this time feels completely different 4 me, extreme tiredness has worn down from what it was :-), was never this tired with 1st 2.
i have a bump already-at 5.5weeks!!! its crazy, am sure i didnt get one until about 3+months with dd and ds!
'period' pains-yet again a 1st in pregnancy
pain right at the top insides of my legs
just like with dd-i love lemons :-)

is it 'normal' 2 show this early on with a 3rd?
is anyone else having different experiences this time around?

my 3rd is due in 2 weeks! i'll have 3 under 3's and feel different this time round but don't know if that's cause it's a girl (got 2 boys) or cause my poor body is completely knackered. my stomach muscles split with ds2 so i felt like i looked really pregnant almost straight away. i've had loads more niggles - varicose veins so bad i need support stockings on all day every day. bleurgh!

jimmijam · 10/01/2011 19:51

ooh how exciting! last few weeks r always the ardest tho, when u just want everything over with and your body back 2 yourself.

your stomach split? that sounds really nasty! i take it everythings ok this time around?

thats gr8 that ur having a girl this time :-)

I'm 14 weeks with DC3. I feel like this pg is affecting my body much more than the previous ones.

Do either of you have any doubts at all. I keep going through phases of thinking, what the hell am I doing? I never felt like this with DS2, I guess it was always a definite that I would have 2 DC. This 3rd seems kind of frivolous and unnecessary, and greedy. Probably sounds silly. I am really excited and want this baby but sometimes panic.

mattdamonlovesme · 10/01/2011 20:14

Hi all! Smile

I just found out last week I'm expecting no 3. Massive age gap, between DC 2 and this one...11 years! This was planned though Wink.

Eglu, thank goodness there is someone out there who feels the same, I'm honestly petrified at the moment and the question "what the hell am I doing" is screaming at me!

We always wanted a 'big' family, but DH's job has meant us moving around the world for the last 15 years, so after DC2 we kept putting it off. Reaching the big 40 in a few months so thought it's now or never. Can honestly say I am terrified. Life had become so easy!

If I must be honest, I'm not excited at the moment, too scared about how this will affect life, other DCs, etc. Scared to break the news to them.

Oh, and have name changed as my sister and SIL's all browse, don't want them to read how I am really feeling. Blush.

growing3rdbump · 10/01/2011 20:15

I'm 22 wks with DC3. We already have DD (7yrs) and DS (3yrs) and this little one is expected to be a girl. Had terrible nausea early in this pregnancy that lasted until 14 wks, which I have never experienced with previous two. Happy to say am generally feeling well now that has all settled down! I understand what you mean about the doubts Eglu - I have panics about how we'll afford everything, how I can cope going back to the sleepless nights etc. I only work 2 days a wk as a teacher, but childcare for 2 children in school and a baby for those days will be almost £600 a month - unbelievable!!!!!
Aside from that, am looking forward to little one arriving and getting my body back (eventually!!!)

mattdamonlovesme · 10/01/2011 20:20

And yes jimmijam i look pregnant with small kind of flabby bump Blush and am having mild period like pains. Boobs were killing me from about 3 weeks ago..seemed very early. No real sickness yet but didn't have sickness with previous DC. Not massive tiredness yet but am sure that will hit soon.

Poor you naturalbaby I'm not sure what to imagine when you say your stomach split Shock. I'm feeling slightly scared at that thought!

Eglu · 10/01/2011 20:26

mattdamonlovesme and growing3rdbump I'm glad my ramblings made sense.

growing3rdbump we have the same age gaps. DS1 is 7, DS2 is 3 and bump will be born just before they turn 8 and 4.

jimmijam · 10/01/2011 20:26

im sooooo excited!!!!
tho i do feel exactly the same in some ways-is having 3 being greedy?! everyone in my family has 2! when theyre at school all wanting school trips (hopefuly not abroad), the latest craze (they cant all have their own wii or nintendo), the latest fasion (i cant wear that anymore its not cool), big label brands (i still remember being picked on at school 4 not having a cool bag, like adidas or nike), mmmmmmmmmmmmmm......

ppl at work know (my dh couldnt keep his mouth shut and the rumour soon spread).

will tell dh's parents when we're next in the area (they live 3 1/2 hours away, we'll c them next month)
scared to tell my mum tho-a grown up about 2 have my 3rd child and still scared of my mum-whats that all about?!!! plan 2 tell her next week, im a chicken 4 not doing it sooner so my boss says!

egloo and mattdamon- have u told any1 yet?

OP posts:
Eglu · 10/01/2011 20:29

jimmijam I know what you mean about telling your Mum. My Mum doesn't believe in anyone having more than 2 DC, so I knew I wouldn't get a good reaction. It is silly though, we are grown ups, as you say.

As I'm now 14 weeks everyone knows. Told parents straight away. Told close friends then too. I told my boss just before christmas as she was going on mat leave then. DS1 just announced it to his class this week, so the whole school knows now, and it won't be long before the whole willage knows. Small village where gossip spreads fast.

jimmijam · 10/01/2011 20:30

sorry i got ur name wrong!

OP posts:
jimmijam · 10/01/2011 20:32

haha, at least everyone will know then. only you may not know who does and who doesnt....at work i keep getting the odd comment in converstation "you're pregnant arent u" "yes" but only 2 ppl have said congratulations. as its like a little village im sure everyone must know-but not 4 sure. feels a bit strange!

OP posts:
mummysleepy · 10/01/2011 20:33

hi all
I am 20weeks with DC3. I have DS1 (nearly 4) and DS2 (16months) so everyone keeps asking if I want a girl this time! Hmm

I know this will be my last pregnancy (DH would have stopped at 2 but I wanted more) so I am trying to enjoy this time, if thats possible. I was pretty sick till about 12 weeks but on a plus side this means i have gained less weight than this point last time (So far)

I have all the same worries- how will I cope with 3, can we afford it, what about childcare etc.

I only work 1.5 days a week and my boys go to a childminder but at the moment she won't have space for all 3,but I guess its a long way off!

Eglu · 10/01/2011 20:35

mummysleepy I have had that from almost everyone who has found out I'm pg. I find it a little annoying really. Even my Gran asked me. When I said no, I'd quite like another boy, she said she thought I was havin another one to try for a girl Hmm

thelizard · 10/01/2011 20:41

Hi all,

I also have two little boys (4 and 20 months) and expecting number 3 in may. We don't know if a girl or boy, am getting sick of people asking if I really want a girl... Funnily enough, I would not send back a boy!

Felt everything much more this time. Signed off work for a couple of weeks with morning sickness, then hurt back and could not even get out of sofa without dh! Now 22 weeks and have put on nearly 2 stone already... Bring on may!! I thought I looked big for ages, but children in my class (primary teacher) thought I'd just been eating a lot at Christmas till last week!

But am very excited about number 3- my dh thinks this will be our last, I would like 4 but have to admit that pregnancy has not been easy on any of us this time... Guess it will be worth it in the end!

Will be nice to keep this thread going...

mattdamonlovesme · 10/01/2011 21:06

Hi Eglu

not told anyone else apart from DH, oh, and you ladies. DH was pretty shocked really as we had just 'done it' Blush once before Christmas. Didn't think it would be so quick TBH (getting pregnant, not the 'act' of doing it)!!. Think I am trying to bury my head in the sand and keep this quiet, announcing it makes it seem more real and I'm sorry to say but I want to ignore it a bit at the moment or I feel stressed IYSWIM. Does that make me seem a bad person? Sorry, I feel bad for admitting it. I'm sure I'll get excited soon Hmm.

Will probably wait a few weeks before we tell DCs. We live abroad so will have to tell everyone on the phone (or twitter!). My mum will be thrilled (I think), MIL will not. Expect to be asked many times by others if it was an accident. Angry

mattdamonlovesme · 10/01/2011 21:10

At least I'll be able to keep my mind busy by posting on mumsnet....I must go ahead and join the September bus thread and also the Older mums thread....Confused Phew

imustbemad2 · 10/01/2011 22:05

Hello,

im 5.5 weeks too, with 2 DS 3.5yr and 2yr old. Im also 40, so pushing on a bit! This one is a complete surprise and unplanned, but we are both thrilled and excited.

Im panicing about having a MC due to previous one before the boys came along, and really want an early scan to ease my mind and see a heart beat.

Already filling my trousers, having to undo buttons after lunch....was blaming the xmas overeating, but will now have to get shopping for some clothes......quickly

Not many symptoms hence my worries. Tiredness, and had some cramping coming and going.

Anyone else thinking they are showing this early???

niamh29 · 10/01/2011 22:05

I'm 30 weeks pregnant with no 3, I have DD1 who's 4.5 and DD2 who's 1.5, and we are expecting another girl!
I am starting to get very excited now but also very scared, little things like fitting 3 cars seats in the back of the car, when to move DD2 from the nursery into her sisters room, talking to the Creche and work about our options, it's pretty stressful!
And of course I'm very tired all the time, just starting to feel the third trimester tiredness now, it's gonna be crazy, it will be worth it.........right????

NoLadyButManyBubbasAndBumps · 10/01/2011 22:22

My 3rd is due in 10 days :o :o
DDs are 3 1/2 and just over 2 :)

I have two DDs and like someone else has mentioned, many assume I want a boy this time round Hmm

naturalbaby come and join us on the Due Late January antenatal thread too -

jimmijam · 11/01/2011 12:09

thehiddenpaw · 11/01/2011 13:23

love this thread, it has been great to read the worried others have. I am 14 weeks, due mid july. My big concern has been a healthy pregnancy as had miscarraige at 17 weeks and another at 9 weeks (pregnancies 1 and 3). I cried when I had my scan as it was such a relief to know the baby was still surviving. I have two sons, age 6 and 3. I admit I would like a girl but I am also going to be ever so thrilled with whatever pops out.A third boy will be loved and cuddled just as much as the other two. I am also just 40 tomorrow and it was great to see a few of you say you are similar ages. I am not really showing yet. I tend to loose weight when pregnant and had an awful yucky 3 months then flu and sinusitis so I have lost rather than gained. I am a size 14 and hope to stay around this for another 6 weeks but have got my size 16 clothes ready just in case!I am so so so tired and want my usual energy back. I am also worried that I am not getting better after my illnesses and paranoia setting in that I will get another indefection. so my worries are all about keeping my baby safe! I have also thought about child care, car size and who will sleep where. But it is so nice to be thinking positively and assuming there will be a baby to be part of the family. Only my husband and medical staff know. I want to wait till as long as I can. Work will be a problem for me as work full time and don't want them to think I am not engaged with my job if pregnant. My boss will be ok, it is my colleagues who may discount me and I am in a competitive group. So so pleased to see that I am not alone in being sick, worried and tired. It is way more tiring then other pregnancies. Sore boobs, yes, pains, not really, no energy yes, gone off alcohol, yes, miss my favourite foods and feel beuch if I look at them yes. Weirdly, while i was ill with flu, thought I felt the baby move (around 12-13weeks). It is the only time I sat quiet and listened to my body as normally on the go or doing stuff. It is a much wanted baby, always wanted 3 and think it will be last. Think 3 will be a nice fun family size and my kids will have siblings to depend on- I am one of 7 and my husband one of 5 and family ties with my siblings are close even though we are in different countries. thanks for sharing everyone

tel1 · 11/01/2011 16:20

hello, I've 42 and preg with dc3. currently 10weeks... had miscarriage previously so really waiting on the scan to check its all going on ok.
I seem to blow up from the afternoon onwards, but my clothes are getting tighter, but that may be due to all the bad food I'm craving !
the sickness and extreme tiredness is subsiding a bit now...

I really wanted this baby, but now I'm preg the fear has set in - and I've thought 'what am I doing' alot. My husband just thinks I'm selfish, as we have a perfect boy and girl (5&4), and he doesn't want to rock the boat.
Our house is too small, my current children are still a handful - and my main worry is 'do hotel's cater for 3 children families...?'
silly I know...
I am also paranoid that all will be ok with this one, as if I've upset the family cart with a baby with special needs, I don't think he'll forgive me

jimmijam · 11/01/2011 18:11

yay, i know exactly what u mean-in a restauranr i look around thinking-all these table seat 4 people....we stay in travelodge quiet a bit when we visit relatives, 2 sharing a mattress may cause plenty of arguments :-(
we're lucky we have a spare room 4 dc3-only then we wont have a spare room 4 when friends and family from up north come 2 stay Confused my main worry here though is-we only have 1 (v.small, not even big enough 4 a bath-its as wide as the shower tray!) 'bath'room which our 2 dc's already fight over when they need the loo at the same time-can u imagine 5 of us fighting over it?! and as we dont have a bath, if i need stitches again i'll have 2 sit in a bucket of water 2 get clean down there and help it heal Blush and when baby grows out of a baby bath will prob have 2 join me in the shower (tears)

yet
am still SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO excited!!!

tel1 im sure having a baby with special needs is unlikely, BUT IF it was 2 happen 2 any of us, im sure theres plenty of support out there these days, and just like any other situation-like adapting from 1-2children, we'd find ways 2 cope and make the most of all we have and enjoy and love our families all the same

Hi - recognise a couple from September bus. I'm very early pg - about 5 weeks. Ds1 is 3.5 and ds2 is 1.8. I know mil's first question will be about whether we're trying for a girl but we're not. 3 boys might well be easier than a mix now. Either will be great.

Had very similar worries about money and holidays etc but I've wanted three for a long time and so has dh so it was kind of inevitable in one way.

Has anyone investigated getting three child seats in the back of their car yet?

I think we will have to get a bigger car, but that's a hunt for a bit later on I think.
