Really pleased you're feeling better ssmile :)

We're having some Saturday afternoon peace and quiet too after taking DS for a slodge about in his wellies this morning. DS is now fast asleep with his blankie, DH is pottering in the kitchen, we've made a huge pan of broth for tea, and I'm writing my pro/con list for which hospital to choose - I'm still bloody dithering about it!

jimmijam · 17/07/2011 00:30

On.nhs site day i was looking 4 a dentist, also came accoss a part where u can search 4 local hospitals, narrow down 2 maternity and u can read reviews of other ppl who'v had babies there.

ssmile · 17/07/2011 09:37

Maybe I'm lucky or not living in devon don't get a choice of hospitals &due to previous birth didn't get choice on birth either except go in be induced on edd which they already bought forward 8d, and have high chance of ending up in emcs or have planned C-sec. Someone actually said to me oh you have it easy the other day. Grrr gritted my teeth no birth is easy whether its 'normal' 'assisted' or c-sec they all have gd /bad points!
On better note I've really found my natal hypno cd brilliant for helping me sleep& relax. Been best £11 I've invested in this preg if anyone not tried it I really recommend it if anyone struggling with sleep or winding down at the end of the day or at 2am when I seem to be wide awake with a wiggle baby. :-)

CBear6 · 17/07/2011 11:07

I've got the choice of three hospitals! One of them I'd have to be dragged to kicking and screaming (bad experiences at it) but the other two are equally nice for different reasons.

I've decided to go to the big hospital rather than the small community hospital. They've both got MW only units (the one at the big hospital is brand new) which is what I wanted but if things didn't go entirely to plan the big hospital just needs to transfer me upstairs whereas the small hospital would need to put me in an ambulance for a 20 minute ride to the big hospital (and DH would have to make his own way there because the MW would be classed as my "passenger"). It's a bit of a conveyor belt, I'm only allowed to stay on the unit for 24hrs post-natal although I suppose if I wanted to stay longer I could dig my heels in and they could transfer me to the ward upstairs, but it seems the best option.

jimmijam · 17/07/2011 12:51

From where we live its a 40-45minute car journey 2 hospital with only 1 main road 2 get there. If theres an accident or anything they always close the road 4 several hours and it can take around 5 hours 2 get there down the narrow country roads if theres lots of traffic. Am quite nervous about it. Think i should ask the midwife wot other hospitals we could go 2 if needed-and type their postcodes in2 the satnav in advance!! Tens machine all packed and ready (brought a new 1 off ebay 4 slightly less than cost of hiring one, i'll have it however early/late i go into labour and can sell it on afterwards). Still need snacks and pj's i can breastfeed in. Wen r we meant 2 b fitted 4 nursing bra?

CBear6 · 17/07/2011 13:25

I have to go along the motorway and into the city, not such an issue if I go at 3am but the MW told me that I it's rush hour she'll be sending an ambulance. Definitely ask them.

Not sure on the nursing bra, I was naughty last time and just squished into my pregnancy bras but I was using sports bras at the end so they were pretty stretchy.

recklesspixie · 17/07/2011 15:33

jimmijam I'm in the same situation as you, 45 mins to nearest hospital and there's a bridge that opens to let boats pass every couple of hours on the way, think traffic is stopped for 30 mins each time. Really hoping that I'm not caught on the far side with painful contractions waiting for the bridge to re-open Shock

poor you CBear you must have got an awful fright when the baby stopped moving for awhile, glad it all worked out Smile.

have been nauseous for the last few days Sad hoping it won't last. Have pram, car seat and cot but still have all the small things to get. Going to hold off on buying a breast pump til I've settled into feeding and know I'm going to continue with it.

I was told to get measured for a nursing bra two weeks before due date.

ssmile · 17/07/2011 15:34

I was wondering about bras too. Problem is my ribs expanded at least 2" already so can't see point in fitting one now even though I did buy two on offer at NCT. I vlarge pre baby so post baby its nightmare getting ones that fit. Wish We had bravissimo shop nr us but vlittle in devon so I always seem to end up ordering about 5bras before get one that fits! I've been living on bra extenders so far as upto 42 ff now!
Had vlazy day today just can't find any energy. Got 6wks to go just feel no batteries in the old body. DH been fab today looked after DD most of today whilst I laid on bed reading paper &napped feel vgrateful to him. Off to pub in mo to meet them so can have dinner &not cook either what a sweetie. 2wks left at work gosh can't wait!

jimmijam · 21/07/2011 19:58

Not sure if i may have carpal tunnel syndrome-pins and needles and sometimes crampy like feelings on my fingers/hands. Occasional uncomfy feeling down below, almost stinging esp wen.walking around at work. Similar feeling in my feet 2 that in my hands, pins and needles as i write this. Period like pains. Lower backache. Pain in groin area and inner thighs while walking around. Dizziness. Cant wait 2 finish work saturday so i wont b on my feet all the time!!!! Midwife end of next week, poor wonan with my big list of complaints 2 listen 2!

ssmile · 21/07/2011 21:45

If its pain in groin could be SPD. But if u worried give MW call don't wait till next appt. Our community team are great always seem to call back within 30mins if answerphone on and really helpful on the phone. I've called about few things even though this is no2 I still get concerned about some odd things better to get reassured than worry and have BP go up &stress levels.
I had melt down last night with DH. Only my 2nd in this preg &i 34wks on sat so getting tired &fighting off a cold all wk. I had spent all day it felt like looking after everyone else at work then getting DD to bed. Then DH came in vtired long day too. I wanted to talk to him as We seeing consultant &anesthetisis on Monday &i getting bit panicky as birth approaches. He wanted to watch motorbikes on TV oh dear cue tears and me ranting who looks after me! When I look after everyone else. He was lovely though &i felt much better after a gd cry &cuddle. Still scared about Monday though its getting more real now.5wks to go on sat till c-sec &quietly terrified.

jimmijam · 22/07/2011 07:33

Dont b terrified!! Was ur 1st a c section? My 2nd was vbac after 1st being emergancy c-section. As it wasnt planned i didnt have chance 2 get nervous, but after experiencing that and a natural birth (not by choice, wanted epidural but was stuck with a midwife who didnt like them), id much rather have a c-section! You'll b fine!! All this stuff is finally driving me crazy after a week. All evening had pins and needles in my feet, kept waking up with it in my fingers. Now im up with it in my hands, a numb fingertip, period pain and a strange almost numb feeling down my left leg. Will ring dr 2day. Ooh and a son who's pretending he's unable 2 do anything by himself and screaming cuz i wont do it all 4 him (hes nearly 4 but does a LOT less than our daughter did at his age and if i keep doing it all 4 him he'll never learn and it will b harder 4 us wen babys born), ooh so add headache 2 that list ;-)

jimmijam · 22/07/2011 11:01

Saw nurse, got physio tuesday 2 get splints 4 hands. Cant believe theres only 6ish weeks left! Its going so quick now!

CBear6 · 22/07/2011 17:14

Glad you're getting sorted :) And yes, not long left now!

I'm lounging on the sofa with my feet up before DH really throws a huff with me. I keep getting niggly little stitch-like pains/sensations all over my tummy. He wants me to go to MAU, I say I've just overdone things because it's worse when I move and there's no tightening or anything. Meh, if he wants to run the house all weekend he can :o

jimmijam · 22/07/2011 19:50

Haha. Our bodies def tell us wen we're doing 2 much now. Chilling out on the sofa sounds perfect. Im doing exactly the same infront of the soaps with some fruit and chocolate brownie flavour milk! Just had a call from my boss telling me i have 2 pick someone up on my way 2 work (only he lives nowhere near my way 2 work) meaning i'll have 2 get up at 4.10am :-( not happy but at least it'll b my last shift 4 9months :-) followed by a kids party :-/

100years · 23/07/2011 20:53

Hi Ladies.

Well I've been rubbish rubbish rubbish at posting in here. I'll try and be a little bit better.

Have been signed off work for what would have been the last week, had a little bit of a scare the other day with high BP, some protein, headaches and flashing spots in my eyes, so a trip to the hospital to get checked out. Have/had been feeling rubbish all week. Anyway I was checked over all was fine and BP has come down, almost back to normal with no protein, so possibly just a little blip, but it was worrying.

Am having growth scans every 3 weeks, so it's nice to see the LO in there again. They are pretty sure we are having a girl, so have been able to get a few things sorted out in that respect.

I'm feeling fecking knackered most of the time and a bit fed up that I'm feeling so tired and knackered after doing only a few little things, but I love being pregnant.

Am due 1st Sept, so I'm on the cusp of the group, and hoping that if LO comes early it's not at 23:59 on the 31st Aug for the school year.

I'm not really going to go back through the thread to catch up, I'm very sorry if that seems rude, it's just my brain is not what it was, so I'll try and keep up from now. Had really busy few months recently, now is time to relax, rest and hopefully prepare for the birth and new arrival.

jimmijam · 28/07/2011 14:22

I think most of us have been a bit rubbish about not posting on here recently. Finally got given growth chart 2day at 34week check up. Just ovet 5weeks 2 go. Baby weighing about 5lb 10oz so about another 2lb 2 put on. Soooo nice not 2 have 2 go 2 work!!!! Just a shame i'll end up going back 2 the same job. Ds got chicken pox so will only b a matter of time b4 dd gets it. Hoping a few more will scab over by 2moro morning so he can go in2 nursery (theyre booked in 1 morning a week so i can go back 2 bed 4 a couple of hours), esp as i'll have 2 pay 4 it anyway! Have finally got round 2 buying small bits, so now have Everything ready -nipple shields, lansinoh, nursing nightees, infacol... Ru all pretty much sorted?

CBear6 · 28/07/2011 21:09

I need to pack my case but buying the last few bits for it tomorrow so I'll hopefully get it done this weekend (34 weeks on Sunday).

Having a bit of a "meh" day. I'm absolutely knackered and I keep getting period type pains. They're not Braxtons and my bump doesn't go tight, they're just like those dull dragging type pains I used to get right before my period. Luckily they don't last long, I think it's possibly just me overdoing things. DD has also decided to pass on the kicking and do lots of stretches and rolls instead, my whole belly keeps bulging and rocking. It's awesome but also very uncomfortable. I'm sure DS has given me his cough too, I really hope not because my pelvic floor might just pack in altogether.

Early night I think, tomorrow is another day!

jimmijam · 29/07/2011 12:23

Get the period pains 2, im sure last time round midwife sed its down 2 muscles etc stretching and happens wen u'v already had kids. I swear pelvic floor excercises dont make much difference wen u have a cough/sneezes. B4 i got hayfever spray i wore pantyliners, may b worth a try? Did u get the last bits? Still feel like im misding something...perhaps its baby!! :-)

CBear6 · 29/07/2011 13:18

Yup, I was at Asda this morning for toiletries and throw-away knickers. And also Pringles and that really cheap and nasty chicken spread stuff to make a sandwich with - cravings, me? :o

I also got some bibs, one last three pack of vests, and a Lightning McQueen shirt for DS. DH trailed me round the shop buying the bread and milk, etc.

It's off to the Tommee Tippee factory shop this afternoon for a mooch about and then I'm done. I think. I've got that feeling I've forgotten something too and it really feels like it's an important something.

How long left now?

ssmile · 29/07/2011 17:27

The weather is SO oppressive here really humid but at least today has been about 5c cooler than last few days I was really starting to struggle.35wks tom &body is trying to go on a go slow but with DD to amuse not so easy this time around. I too been stocking up. Sainsburys got half price Johnsons stuff if u like their wipes etc. Finished work this week so quietly relieved. Also had gd talk with consultant anesthetisis so reassured my back can cope with a spinal ok for c-sec. Glad now that I should have baby at 39wks instead of the 42wks I did last time! In this heat everyday seems lllloooong.

100years · 29/07/2011 17:47

Hey jimmijam, Yeah I think I am pretty much sorted, bag is packed with list of things that I can't really put in there at the moment. It's great now being off, weird to think no more work till next year, and know what you mean about going back to the same job! Hope the chicken pox clears up soon.

CBear, yep weird pains here too, think mine have been from a growth spurt! Very low down just heavy feeling. But I'm also getting random BH too, sometimes painful, sometimes not.

I've not had any cravings! None, feel like I'm missing out on something Wink Have been told by the mw to eat more as I think I've not been eating enough, given I've lost a few pounds and been going light headed.

Only 4 weeks approx then for you ssmile, It's hard to know how long you have left at this stage, I've just crossed into the 4weeks and 6 days barrier! so under 5 weeks, but in reality it could be more like just under 7 if LO is late.

MrsSawyer · 29/07/2011 17:51

i was 34 weeks yesterday and is the tiredness really catching up with everyone else? Last few days ive been knackered!!!! mw came yesterday too and said baby is 3/5 engaged - eek! Im packing my bag in the morning. Is anyone else getting that scared/excited/a little bit sick feeling when you think about the labour?

yummymango · 29/07/2011 17:57

MrsSawyer, I am definitely feeling a bit sick when I think about the labour! I haven't really been worried about it until recently, I think as it closer I get more scared! I am 32 weeks and also knackered :)

ssmile · 29/07/2011 20:45

I had my panic wk last now feel more settled about the birth think because I finished work and on proper count down now &in booked for section so yep its 4wks today... I remember with DD a calm started to settle over me in the last wks think it must be hormonal?

100years · 01/08/2011 13:45

I've not been checked how engaged I am, LO has been head down since about 24 weeks, so it's hard to imagine that she isn't engaged, but as they have said nothing then I am possibly not. Got another growth scan on Wed and I'm sure that will show up if I am.

I've not been feeling weird about the whole labour part, it's got to happen, and what will be will be. I'm sure when it comes to it, I may start saying I don't want to do this though!

As for being tired, like you wouldn't believe, well you would as you are all about the same stage as me! 35+4 today. Am the earliest in the group Shock But afternoon naps are the best thing in the world :)

Was quite sick yesterday, hadn't felt too good during the day, went out with a friend, ended up puking a couple of times, I tell you puking at 8 months is not much fun :( Not 100% today, think it's because I got rid of most of my food yesterday :( Trying to eat stuff, but still a bit dodgy in the stomach department.
