hi all, can i join?
due 9th with ds2. had 3 mcs in between so this has been scary so feel for you, pastababe.

tea4two - i am 40 next month. glad your scan went well- i too had 1 in 50 risk down to 1100 now so feeling more relaxed.

JimmyChoo17 · 10/02/2011 22:28

kalo12 - Congrats!
Yep please do join!

Thats great to hear your risk is lower now!

Im about to go weigh myself...eeeek! Shock

kalo12 · 10/02/2011 22:36

i have got a massive bump but haven't put on any weight.

JimmyChoo17 · 10/02/2011 22:39

Ive got a fairly small but sturdy bump but lost weight earlier on as I was sick a fair bit and lost appetite....batteries gone in scales! Phew...!

kalo12 · 10/02/2011 22:46

has anyone else found out the sex yet?

JimmyChoo17 · 10/02/2011 23:19

7lbs gained and I have just had a good look at myself in mirror whilst hubby is out and I am depressed. In the past week my body has turned grotesque!! :(
Was a little overweight to begin with but not massively. I look awful. Started to feel self conscious at work today too.

JimmyChoo17 · 10/02/2011 23:20

No, not finding out sex it'll be a nice surprise

pastababe · 11/02/2011 15:55

told a few more people today - so getting there, slowly but surely!!

tel1 · 11/02/2011 17:30

hello, can they better your downs risk score then after the 20 wke scan? mines currently at 1:300, which I knows its horrendous, but I would be happier with it higher...

I have no bump during the day but by 6 0'clock its huge, so I guess water retention plays a part...

we're telling the inlaws this weekend, but no-one else until after the 20 wke scan due to me being paranoid it will all go wrong...
the parents at school must just think I've put on weight, as no-one has said anything to me...

got my 16 wke appointment on monday so I hope they are going to listen to a heart beat to put my mind at rest. sometimes think I can feel flutters, but don't know if its just wishful thinking...

not going to find out the sex - already lucky enough to have one of each, so don't really mind..

thank goodness its the weekend !

tel1 · 11/02/2011 17:30

sorry I meant 'not' horrendous for my score

Lynzilove · 13/02/2011 10:05

Got my 20 wk scan on 24th and its dragging so much! got a bump sort of but kinda looks like falb more than anything at the minute!! i an fell the bump but to everyone else probably looks like im fat!!

people always say how quick pregnancy goes, but have to say cant agree at the minute! everythings dragging!!

JimmyChoo17 · 13/02/2011 11:45

Hiyee!

My 20 week scan is being done at 19 weeks so only a week to go! I'm finding time goes quicker now I have a Doppler to make sure bubs is ok if I start to worry.
Op
I look pregnant when wearing leggings and tight clothes but otherwise just look like I've eaten all the pies! Don't like wearing tighter fitting clothes tho (but that's all my wardrobe has to offer right now) as the belly touchers start to flock towards my bump....leave my belly alone!!!!!!!!!!!! Have posted a question about clothes as struggling to find styles to suit me and my height.

Well done pasta babe...!

gorgielondon · 13/02/2011 13:42

I've just discovered non-alcoholic wine, which I love! However it says on the label it contains sulphites - anyone know if I should avoid these?

bumble34 · 13/02/2011 22:05

Becks Blue alcohol free beer great for watching the rugby with.

pastababe · 14/02/2011 10:40

have my 20 wk scan this Thurs - fingers crossed it'll all be ok and I can start to look forward to this new arrival... am not letting myself so far. Talk about playing something down!! but have started to notice kicking so that keeps me going

Vix286 · 14/02/2011 22:05

Next scan 3 weeks tomorrow, I agree with Lynzilove this time is dragging a bit.

I am 17+3 and not sure if I have felt movements or not yet.

Over the past couple of days I seem to have grown a bit of a bump, and I think I saw someone else say this on their post but the bit under boobs and on top of bottom bit of bump seems to have curved out a bit?

Jimmychoo17 I am going to look for your clothes thread as I have brought a nice pair of maternity trousers from Next but that was the only thing they had I liked!

thehiddenpaw · 20/02/2011 19:58

am 20 weeks, hurrah, lots of movement which is lovely and told lots of people. Am still in my normal clothes (am a size 14 and not a slim person anyway!), though feeling like my stomach is bulging. I don't wear tight clothes anyway unless exercising so might get away with it a few weeks more. Still running though am finding it harder and am walking inbetween stretches. just a relief to feel more confident about the baby though still have fingers crossed. Have still told hardly any work colleagues but I know it is will get round without me having to say. Getting tired too. Am hoping to just go up a size in clothes and delay maternity clothes purchase as long as possible. Who knows when it will all just pop

tea4tw0 · 24/02/2011 09:13

i'm 20 weeks today - got my scan on Monday 28th - can't wait. I've piled on 3lbs this last week - that's 12lbs so far, am hoping it'll even out later. I have a huge bump (but nicely all up front) and blindingly obviously pregnant. I don't think i've really felt any movement yet, just the odd twinge and what i refer to as 'growing pangs'. Can't wait till Monday, although i think hubby is more excited about being at Wembley on the Sunday lol :)

pastababe · 24/02/2011 13:02

ok - just a quickie - am 21 weeks now - am debating in my head when is the best time I should tell my other two kids - have kept this very much to dh and me up to now nearly due to 3 past miscarriages before this and being very unsure of what was going to happen... but now hopefully I can start to feel that this one is here to stay... when will I tell the kids (6 & 4) and how should I approach the subject?? any ideas. I don't want to make them false promises of fun from day 1 or anything but would definitely rather they heard from us that suddenly overhearing an adult conversation if you follow.

girlfromdownsouth · 24/02/2011 13:16

Can I join too? I am pg with DC3 - Due 14th July which is very bad planning as DS will be 7 on 12th July so hopefully won't go into labour at his birthday party - will not go down well! (There are also 5 other direct families' birthdays as well as wedding anniversary in July!!)

Had my 20wk scan yesterday. Went OK but have to come back in 2wks as sonographer couldn't see some valves of the heart properly because of the way baby is lying. Also midwife said placenta was low lying and covering mouth of cervix (have started another thread about this). Hopefully it will move because if not will have to have a c-s which is not good as all mine have been home births so far and plan it with this one.

Have not found out the sex - want it to be a surprise. Have DD 8 and DS (will be 7) and they really want to know what it is but DH and I are holding firm.

pastababe I kept my pg secret from DC's till a few weeks ago as I had a lot of probs and have had a m/c at 12wks. They will probably start to notice your bump around about now. I think they are old enough to handle the "mummy has a baby in her tummy and at the moment everything is going well, but there is a chance that things may not work out so let's just see how it goes and look after mummy and bump as best we can". That's kind of how I explained it to my two and they have been brilliant about it. They are dead excited but very considerate of me and bump. That also explains tiredness / grumpiness etc so they don't think they have done something wrong. Then if something happens (god forbid) they can understand and support you (as best they can at 6 & 4. They are old enough to know that bad things sometimes happen to good people. But you will be fine. End of Lecture!

pastababe · 24/02/2011 19:32

thanks girlfromdownsouth - I actually can't believe they don't seem to notice bump - eventho they never leave me alone when I'm in the shower - I think it's getting very close to the point where I will feel better when they know too...
Are you worried about scan? best of luck - look on the bright side - you get to have 2 scans quite close together.

tel1 · 26/02/2011 09:57

I told mine after 12 weeks, basically as they had to come to the scans as I had no child cover - I also had mc previously, so am so paranoid about this one. 17.5 weeks now. I said the same as 'girlfromdownsouth', to mine as well, ie baby in tummy, but things can go wrong... I'd told them last time as well, and said that the baby had died, and they were ok. they are enjoying this new excitement though

  • no movement yet which I am dying for, for reassurance. also got a terrible cough which I'm worried will harm baby...

my scans on 14th march....
I still will not let myself believe until after the 20 wke scan, and when I can start to feel it moving.

we are not finding out the sex

ParisPreMom · 26/02/2011 12:18

Hi everyone,
We have our ultrasound appointment on Monday too and are very excited to find out gender.
My baby is moving quite a bit, even down onto my bladder, which makes me jump, as it feels like a nerve is hit or something and I feel like I have to pee.
I only fit into maternity clothes now and am loving the 'mama tights" that H&M sells, plus large-sized leggings.
Feel generally OK, but have a terrible sore throat from acid indigestion - the pain is so bad it gives me a headache...
Hope everyone has a nice week-end!

mimimood · 26/02/2011 19:43

Due 3rd July... First baby

Cant wait.

ParisPreMom · 28/02/2011 18:23

We're having a girl! Everything's fine (from what I can tell from ultrasound technician's report...)
Feels very real now!
Not always easy to adjust to new body shape, clothing requirements etc. I've actually caught myself a few times recently looking enviously at other girls' flat stomachs and how agile and energetic they look moving about...
