Hi everyone,
Thought I would start a thread for all us mums to be who are due in May 2011 so that we can support each other. xx

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Just been to the hospital fo a s exiled anaesthetic review. What a bloody waste of time! was 50 mins late getting seen only saw an anaesthetist who basically said as I am overwight and my bmi is over 40 that I am at a higher risk of needing surgical intervention. Said if I wanted an epidural during labour to ask for it earlier rather than later so thanits easier to put in a d then asked all the usual questions when having an a aesthetic such as have you got any false teeth, crowns etc. Appointment took about 5 minutes and I have absoloutly no doubt that if I do need an epidural that I will be asked all the same questions again at the time. Grrrrr!

Anyway apart from that things going ok. Am now 32+2 getting almost no sleep between the unbearable need to pee every 2 hours and the return of night time leg cramps.
Keep thinking I should pack my hospital bag but then put it off again. Am trying to decorate the house and organise my DS birthday party. Roll on April 21st when I finally stop work.

Oh and sorry for the moan!

thelizard · 25/03/2011 18:02

Growing3rdbump- me too, only 4 days left over two weeks, you're a teacher too right? Can't wait! Although have ds2's birthday party between now and then.

Completely sympathise with the MIL rants. Only thing I have to say is that with 2 little ones already, we do rely on mum and mil to look after/entertain children fairly frequently, which they all love! I bite my Tongue a lot, because I can see how good it is for the boys and also because it keeps us sane!

I have been sleeping ok mainly as I am shattered! But have annoying rash over my bump which is keeping me awake as well as horrendous heartburn! Oh well, less than 8 weeks to go...

growing3rdbump · 25/03/2011 18:40

HI again thelizard - yes I'm a teacher and like you expecting 3rd baby!!!! These birthday party plans are a nightmare!!! Hope yours goes ok!

designergirl · 27/03/2011 15:27

Hi, I'm due on 13th May, can't wait now!

cowboylover · 27/03/2011 19:25

Jbrd; how was NCT? Our classes start a week Thursday at the hospital and we are really excited so hope it's not disappointing!

Clara: I had one as well and felt like I was talked at for the full 40 mins I was there and I was totally unprepared for it or any of his questions and wish my DH was there as I can't remember most of what he said and it turns out the answer to it was that an epidural was not 100% guaranteed but I didn't think they where any way so more confused and scared than I was before.

pissovski · 27/03/2011 21:19

Hi All :)

am 34 + 4 now and getting kicked for Britain :)

I finished work last week (am a supply teacher, and the person i was covering for returned) and am very grateful for this as i have had a rather horrible sinus infection and cough this week. I do suffer with these from time to time, and usually self medicate with Sudafed tablets. Obviously i couldn't do this this time and had to go to the drs and get anti biotics. Had some really crap sleep, but now seem to be recovering.

We don't start our ante natal classes for another 2 weeks as they were the only evening ones we could get into, so I am keeping fingers crossed that we get do all 4 of them!

We still need to order the cot, but i think we have most other things. The moses basket is up in the bedroom and bedding has been washed, as have first size and 0 - 3 clothes and the pram is ready to be collected from the shop. I do still need to pack bags for hospital - there is stuff in bags but its just all kinda thrown in so i need to order it and see what is missing. That's this week job i guess!

best of luck to all xxx

LabMonkey · 28/03/2011 07:07

Hi Pissovski I'm very jealous! I'm 34+3 and I've still got 3 weeks and 4 days left at work (yes I'm counting!). I hope you're drugs are making you feel better. DH and I both have a cold and lots of congestion and he's just found out that he can't take the normal stuff due to his bp meds so we're both in a not sleeping much grump :(

I've chucked stuff in bags too and I think I've probably got most of what I need in there apart from the last minute stuff - book, phone charger etc.

Now I'm just procrastinating and as it's now taking me over 45 min to walk to work (normally a 10min cycle) I better go :)

JBrd · 28/03/2011 10:15

Cowboy - the NCT class was really good, it feels so nice to be with people in the exact same situation, and not to feel guilty talking baby stuff all the time! The only thing we were a bit disappointed about was that it's a really small group, we're only 9 - there goes the extensive networking... But they are all nice, so I'm hoping that we might become really good friends more easily.

I fininsh work on Thursday, can't wait! Really looking forward to being a lady of leisure now. Sleep is starting to become an issue, I just can't get comfortable anymore and keep waking up lots of times.

We've got most stuff, I've started packing my hospital bag - and by packing I mean that I have most of the stuff now, but it's all lying around in various places around the house and needs to be put in one place, which would be the actual bag Grin
Still need to get some nighties/PJs with buttons on the front for breastfeeding... And knickers. The paper ones I bought look and feel horrible, I'd rather get some cheap ones from Peacocks or TK Maxx that I can throw out afterwards.

pissovski · 28/03/2011 10:20

Hi LabMonkey :)

I actually can't believe how lucky i have been re work, firstly to get a good few months in a decent school, and secondly to have it finish as conveniently as it has. Only thing is that I now I have to try and spend £0! I don't blame you for counting at all!

Sorry to hear you and your DH are bunged up of nose too :( its such a pain isn't it? I was given Erythromicin (sp) anti bios, which seem to have helped, although i am still coughing at an Olympic level! Hope you get better and get some sleep soon.

Am off to sort my bags out a bit more now :)

Hope your walk was ok x

Bubandbump · 28/03/2011 12:01

Hi

Just marking my space in the countdown - 6 weeks to go today!

Baby is still breech despite lots of yoga and hip wiggling and although the midwife isn't concerned yet, they won't let me use the midwife led unit as we are growing a whopper and it's already 5 and a half pounds.

But we did have an impromptu labour ward tour in the early hours of last Friday morning which turned out to be fine. It means that I now have a (nearly finished) hospital bag and am much calmer about the labour ward - it was quite nice!

Already off on maternity leave which is lovely as not getting much sleep and head under ribs can make breathing a bit tricky at times.

Nct was great for us - we just have the breastfeeding session left but we learnt loads and everyone was really lovely. It's great being able to talk to other people in the same situation.

So looking forward now to meeting our baby!

ng1412 · 29/03/2011 14:00

Hello all, am feeling very fat and bored right now. Have packed my bag and sorted the nursery out, so not a lot else to do!

Am toying with ironing DH's shirts I am that desperate.

Got first NCT on Saturday, not looking forward to it as get very uncomfortable very easily and the thought of spending 5 hours in one place fills me with dread.

Have a scan on Wednesday with the consultant as have switched hospitals/trusts and apparently being over 40 I am now classed as high risk - despite no one telling me earlier (I am 33 weeks). They need to do an initial scan to check all is ok, not sure what we will do if not, am a nervous wreck already of course.

Hope everyone else is progressing nicely, not long to go now!!

cowboylover · 29/03/2011 22:40

Bubandbump: Did you have a scan to determin that estimated weight?
I am 33 weeks so 7 weeks left and they estimated her weight to be 5lb 2oz so does that mean I am growing a whopper as well? They didnt mention it but its what I have been expecting with the family history ect.

I am enjoying maternity leave and glad I am as cant believe how tired everything makes me feel and decorating the nursery at the moment is taking a while but enjoying seeing it come together.

ng1412: Hope it all goes well tomorrow as I am sure it will. My consultant is lovely so I hope yours is the same Smile

Marabou · 29/03/2011 23:36

Hey everyone! Glad to hear you're all enjoying your maternity leaves. I've still got 2.5 weeks to go and 6.5 weeks until babytime, sigh :(.. I'd also like to know how they estimate the baby's weight. No one's ever said anything to me, just checked the fundal height and said it was normal...

LabMonkey · 30/03/2011 07:26

How/when do they estimate the weight? I'm 34+6 and all anyone does now is ask if I have any questions and measure the fundal height. We have another scan on 14th April as part of a study but they're not allowed to tell us anything so I assume they won't mention size etc.

Does anyone else resemble a whale yet? People can't really tell I'm pregnant from behind despite the fact that my ass can now eclipse the sun but I'm feeling huge and fat. Sorry I'm just whinging now - it's sunny and lots of people are out running while I'm wondering if I'll have enough energy for aquanatal tonight :(

In happy news Ziggy is still head down and likes to wriggle a lot which is making work far more bearable. Only 3 weeks and 2 days left :)

Bubandbump · 30/03/2011 08:22

Hi

Yes, we have been having 2 weekly growth scans, mainly due to the high nuchal at the beginning but then because abdominal circumference growth was a bit erratic with spurts and then levelling off - it has settled down now though onto the 'normal' curve even though it is showing at the 95th percentile.

As far as I know from speaking to others, the midwife just measures fundal height and if it is more than 2cm out from expected then they refer for a scan. Again though our nct teacher said the whole weight things are notoriously difficult to estimate and can be inaccurate.

I don't know how you ladies have still got the energy to work though! It will make the time fly a bit quicker as I am starting to get impatient to meet our baby!

pinkgirlythoughts · 30/03/2011 09:48

Another part time teacher over here, only four more days in school, but the last day will be spent moderating SATs papers, so only three days left in the classroom. I'm going to miss my class, but won't miss working at all now- the last two weeks have been such a struggle, as I feel massive, and am constantly exhausted now!

cowboylover · 30/03/2011 14:25

Bubandbump: Same as me then due to my liver condition, they where expecting her to be small and early but doing the opposite at the moment!

I just can't believe how quick I get tired at everything, my job for the day is doing the food shopping and I know by the end of it I will be ready for a snooze.

Bubandbump · 30/03/2011 14:32

Sorry to all the ladies still working but yes cowboylover, I am getting tired at everything too at the moment (and so now I am sat in bed watching tv).

I had loads of energy up until the end of last week but now my morning sickness seems to have come back and my huuuge bump is getting uncomfortable (or its the little head nudging under my ribs..). Hoping it's just a blip and I get a second wind soon.

Oh and online supermarket shopping and next day delivery is my saviour!

LabMonkey · 30/03/2011 20:43

I've been knackered all week then I've been to aquanatal tonight and I feel energised - time to get back to exercising I think. I'm hoping it helps me sleep too!

missemmajane · 04/04/2011 11:39

can't believe how quick this is all going, I haven't been on here for a while, but im 33 + 3 already!!

Feel a little sad as my hospital won't do maternity tours anymore due to germs and cross contamination (ie: swine flu etc...) which I can understand but as a first time mum it makes me a little nervous that I am not able to familiarise myself with the hospital before the big day - or hey maybe ignorance is bliss!! Has anyone else had this issue?

You lucky people already on maternity leave, im still working until 21st April, and I am counting down the days!!! - My plan is to have lots of choccy easter eggs and then a couple of weeks on the sofa (or in the garden if the sun allows) before bubba comes.

Ive been doing aquanatal too which is brilliant for feeling energised, I have also treated myself to a few reflexology session which is another great way to relax and embrace all the changes!

Good luck to you allm, can't wait to start hearing when all the little bubbas start arriving!!!! :)

thelizard · 04/04/2011 12:34

A warning to be careful what you wish for... I was getting so uncomfortable, 33 weeks, two little boys and still teaching till Friday that I wished the baby would just come.... On wed, got strong braxton hicks, period cramps, ended up in delivery suite with contractions every 2 minutes, the doctors talking about cots for the baby etc. Was 6 hours on monitor, contractions getting stronger, dh and I getting more worried and realising that we have nothing ready for this baby! Then suddenly all stopped and was discharged. Really made me think though and am now grateful for every extra day, baby is apparently fully engaged, odd for 3rd child and I have been nesting like crazy. Very strange feeling, as my two boys were both a week late.

Have since spent £150 on boots website, have everything we need ordered and am trying to relax....

Hope everyone else has had less stressful weeks!

Xxxx

wobblyweeble82 · 04/04/2011 12:50

Eh up ladies,

Only just found this forum - WHERE HAVE I BEEN?! I'm 33+3 now and feeling whopping. It's got to the point now where random people are giving me the 'Ooooh, not long now' chat when I'm out and about. Due an iron infusion this Friday which is a bit crap but hey ho - DD will indeed be worth it.

All thos on maternity leave already, how are you filling your days? I've been off sick since January and am MAJORLY climbing the walls now. Only so much of This Morning I can take. Everyone keeps saying I should make the most of it and yeah, they're right, I should but still ... Find it quite a lonely experience at the mo tbh. Any tips etc most welcome Grin

Happy Braxton Hicksing all :)

wobblyweeble82 · 04/04/2011 12:52

thelizard that sounds a bit terrifying. Rest up and all that jazz. Lots of lying down in quiet rooms and things!

mamamona · 04/04/2011 14:26

Hey everyone, I'm not due to start Mat Leave until 29th April, but have booked the whole of April off starting from last week, so technically I'm 'free' until baby is born from now onwards. Still have bought absolutley nothing, maybe I'll get on to that soon.

How are you all filling in your time? TV is mundane, already developing an addiction to Mumsnet, its only been four days and I'm already going batty! Friends and family all at work, and I can see that I'm going to become reeeeeeeeeeallly lazy.

How to avoid? Help!

thelizard · 04/04/2011 15:47

Mamamona, would you like to borrow two small boys?? Can promise they will keep you entertained and not leave a second to be bored!!
