Hi everyone,
Thought I would start a thread for all us mums to be who are due in May 2011 so that we can support each other. xx

Hi everyone,

What was I saying about sleeping better this week? Nearly 5 am and feels like have been tossing & turning for hours. JenniferR hope that's not true about active night baby, as our little one seems to wake up the minute I lie down to try and sleep and then kick most of the night. How he can't be tired though as he was awake on and off most of the day I don't know!

Had interesting evening today with meeting the mw etc. Think we are now both happy to plan for a home birth if we can, and accept we'll have to be in hopsital if things aren't normal or don't go to plan.

Must be why I can't sleep, I'm so excited now about him being born and really being a mum!

LabMonkey · 23/02/2011 07:28

It's not Ziggy kicking that's keeping me from sleeping properly it's my hips and back that really hurt. I'm also getting weirder and weirder dreams which I heard was normal but had been told they're usually about the birth which mine aren't. I also had a panic at 3am about what would happen if either DH or I died and that we should write a will. I honestly think I'm going crazy! Confused

On a happier note - even though I slipped and went flying on Monday night Ziggy is wriggling away loads so all is good Grin.

growing3rdbump · 23/02/2011 09:03

Hi all,
Bluewellies, I'm struggling with uncomfortable bras at the mo! Admittedly they were brought in previous pregnancy and I'm being too tight to buy new ones! I think nursing bras are brought after 36 wks when baby has dropped down a bit and they can get a more accurate measurement around your middle. They also increase the cup size from what I remember by estimating how much bigger they get when the milk comes in. I also recommend the sleep bras - I bought some for after 1st baby and still wear them now (I will also get some new ones soon!!!!)

Great to hear you're planning home birth - I had one with DC2 and hope to again!

I also have a night time wriggler and early riser! I don't remember being kept awake with the other two at all and DD1 was horrendous sleeper in the early months.

Right, got to get kids ready for the day and then plan fun half term activities...!

trixie123 · 23/02/2011 10:20

Bluewellies~ don't worry. DS always started kicking when I laid down to sleep but was a great sleeper from early n. This LO seesm to be the same so fingers crossed!

cowboylover · 23/02/2011 18:53

Welcome Marabou!

I am hoping that is true with the baby sleeping patterns being the same, our girly does not seam to start til around 10 in the morning then stops around 11pm so keeping it all crossed.

Got the MW tomorrow so I am writing a list of constructive questions as I have a habbit of when she asks how I feel I always just say 'fine thanks' and get home wondering about something!

Marabou · 24/02/2011 17:49

growing3rdbump that was very useful info for me about how they measure you for nursing bras. Silly me, I hadn't realised that the bump is actually so high up at the moment that you couldn't really accurately measure around the middle.. So then I should also wait to be measured in a few weeks..

LabMonkey, I'm also finding it difficult to sleep due to the aches in the back and for me the pain is in my inner thighs in particular. I think I have SPD and I'm hoping to get a referral to physio tomorrow when I'm having my next MW appointment..

cowboylover, I also wrote a list of questions for my appointment tomorrow: I always seem to do the same thing as well and say everything's fine, when I actually had a ton of things to ask Smile. Although I think for me it's the way she seems to be rushing me every time and this whole pregnancy thing has erased half of my memory anyway so there you go Wink..

I'm having my glucose tolerance test done tomorrow and plan to have a nice full English breakfast afterwards so already looking forward to tomorrow! Keep up the good work ladies:)!

LabMonkey · 24/02/2011 18:02

Marabou I hope all goes well tomorrow. Sorry about the SPD - I've not got anything nearly so bad to complain about.

LabMonkey · 25/02/2011 16:30

Moan Alert

I'm huge. Or at least so announced a colleague in the middle of the open plan office this afternoon. She even had to circle me staring at my stomach and repeatedly exclaiming how huge I am.

I'm 30 weeks pregnant of course I'm bloody huge! It's all bump too I've put on a bit of weight but not much - probably due to lack of running for the last 2 months.

Anyway I'm feeling huge, minging and crap - my bump hurts from where it's been squished against my desk all day and I've ripped my only maternity trousers so badly that they can't be fixed.

I've never been much of a drinker but god do I miss beer right now.

Rant over

clarabella18 · 25/02/2011 17:41

Poor labmonkey I know how you feel. Totally fed up of the "your massive" comments that and people suddenly being unable to make eye contact drink a conversation an they spend the whole time staring at my bump.
Not long to go though. I've only got 8 weeks left at work an the end can't come soon enough!

cowboylover · 25/02/2011 20:08

Marabou: I had my GTT today as well and I even asked my Midwife some questions on Thursday that where relevent and I wanted to know the answers to!

I miss Beer and venturing to the pub for the afternoon of Rugby tomorrow and determined not to be violated by everyone grabbing my bump like last time which put me off so much I went home. DH has promiced to try help me stop them by sticking his belly in the way and saying that if they wanna feel grab that as his daughter does not want to be disturbed Grin

JBrd · 26/02/2011 09:30

LabMonkey - I got the loathsome question 'you sure it's not twins in there?' a couple of weeks ago! I'm huge, too, although no one at work has dared to comment that openly on it! I bet you were furious! I love all my friends and family for saying 'you look really well' instead of 'god, you're huge'! Guess that's why they are my friends and family Grin. Fortunately, I had only very few bump-grabbing incidents so far, and neither of them by a complete stranger, that would so freak me out! People should know better, unfortunately, they don't...

I'm determined to have a relaxing weekend, after this week I feel I need and deserve it! We do need to clean the house, but hopefully we can do a 'blitz' today, once I've thrown DH out of bed! And maybe I can persuade him that we buy the car seat today... Nothing like retail therapy!

Marabou · 26/02/2011 10:45

Hi everyone!

cowboylover good to hear you remembered your questions, I did too and got a referral to the physio and booked in for antenatal classes.

Actually I was a bit annoyed at the end though, because it turned out the MW I had seen after my booking appointment had not recorded my blood test results in my notes and they didn't even know my blood group! The MW I saw yesterday was acting like it was my fault that they had not done their work properly?? I just thought the whole thing was silly, because they had everything recorded in the database of course, just that they hadn't written it down in my notes... In any case, after making a big fuss out of completing my notes by hand, she just told me there was no longer time to check my urine and I would have to do it at my 31 week appointment, and that "oh by the way, you had a urine infection at your booking appointment"!! Well thanks for telling me that 16 weeks after! All in all the "care" so far has seemed very careless to me and especially it being my first pregnancy it's very difficult to keep track of everything they're supposed to do Sad..

LabMonkey, gosh I would have been livid!! People are just so insensitive and ridiculous sometimes! I'm normally in a really cranky mood nowadays what with the shortage of breath and pain all over my body, which is already draining as it is, so any such comments receive a snappy "Yeah, I'm pregnant!" response from me!

Sorry about the moan by the way, just one of those days Wink...

clarabella18 · 26/02/2011 11:46

marabou that sound like a pretty crappy experience you've had with your midwife. I can't beleive they said they didn't have time to test your urine that's ridiculous it takes about 3 seconds!
Don't be so forgiving next time And insist they do everything they are supposed to do. At the end of the day it was their fault they never recorded stuff properly not yours and she certainly shouldn't be taking it out on you and your baby.

LabMonkey · 26/02/2011 12:53

marabou that sounds awful! I know it's hard to insist they do it right as HCPs have a way of making it seem like it's your fault.

Marabou · 26/02/2011 13:34

Yeah I know Sad... I will have to be more assertive next time, it is my baby's well being that's at stake after all!

My experience with the antenatal team at my hospital does not at all match the feedback I read about them before choosing to have my care there.. I don't know if I've just been unlucky so far Confused...

Well, at least my antenatal classes will start next month and I'm really excited :)! has anyone already started theirs and how is it?

funnylittlekaty · 27/02/2011 16:50

Hello all!
MWs can be a funny old bunch eh? Hope yours is better next time Marabou. I've got my antenatal classes starting on friday next. Eeeek. Cannot believe that this tiddler is due to make an appearance 9 weeks today.
On the "god you're huge" front, I've been relatively fortunate apart from a really helpful comment at work last week "Oh in that top you don't even look very pregnant, just looks like you've got a big belly! Won't it be nice when you have a proper round bump?" I smiled thinly and made "hmm yes" sort of noises but I was livid. So at 31 weeks pregnant I STILL JUST LOOK FAT!!!! Argh.
Also I miss the booze enormously. Really wish I could go off it but no such luck....sigh x

LabMonkey · 27/02/2011 18:57

Well today at church someone said that I had a lovely neat little bump and looked fab and as she actually has children I will go with her opinion over the silly people at work who have no experience of children :)

Marabou · 28/02/2011 10:26

Yes go with the experienced opinions say I Smile! I get the feeling that sometimes women with no children are just making insensitive comments because they're actually secretly jealous.. I'm not sure if I'm just trying to come up with something to make myself feel better here, but it feels that I've been getting a lot of these "you're huge"-comments from women in their mid 30s with no children and no partner... Well, who knows, perhaps people are just genuinely ignorant..

cowboylover · 01/03/2011 20:09

Dydd Gwyl Dewi hapus St Davids

I had a week off and now gone back to 'wow you have grown! Yes I know and thats what I am supposed to be doing!

Had a scan yesterday and she is growing well now est weight of 3lb 1oz so getting big now. I have decided to take some holidays and then start my maternity leave a little earlier than planned and my last day in work is now next Friday so only 8 working days left, it was my idea but now I cant believe how quick it will be but I am ready.

I cant wait to have a Wine

clarabella18 · 01/03/2011 21:09

Cowboylover I'm so jealous! I have decided to bring forward my finishing date but still have around 7 weeks (26 working days to be exact) left.

I had the mw today too, all looking good, she says I'm the right size fir the number of weeks and he had a nice strong heartbeat. Have still not put on any weight at all so far but am definitely average size in the bump stakes. Had my bloods taken again too so just waiting for results and not back again until 33 weeks.

LabMonkey · 01/03/2011 21:32

Well Ladies - today a miracle happened!

On the Piccadilly Line at 17:30ish today a bloke jumped in front of me to get the only spare seat. He then looked up and saw me and immediately gave me his seat! Shock

I had been led to believe that this would never happen so I think we can all take solace in knowing that there's at least one nice commuter in London :)

I'm very jealous of anyone finishing work soon. My last day is 21st April when I'll be 38 weeks and it can't come soon enough. I only have 2 more days in London and one overnight meeting in Cardiff to go then the rest's all near home :)

CaringForPod · 02/03/2011 17:01

Hello,

Joining this thread, although technically I'm due on April 29. May be being thick, but can't see an April thread and, well the 29th is almost May, isn't it?!

Tomorrow I'll be braving the rush hour on a bus, having given up my bike last week. Hoping for some polite commuters/school kids...

Getting really impatient to meet our little fellow now. It's been a tough pregnancy, mentally, and can't believe we're almost there! I still can't quite believe everything is going to be alright, but one day at a time I guess.

Anyway, hope you don't mind me gatecrashing Smile

LabMonkey · 02/03/2011 17:24

Gatecrash away! I'm due on 7th May but as my family have a history of being born very early it's generally assumed that Ziggy will make it out into the world in April.

Don't worry too much about the commuting - 2 days in a row now I've been offered a seat on the tube!

growing3rdbump · 02/03/2011 17:39

I too am hoping for an April baby... but not sure how likely it is!!! Due 16th May but DD was 2 wks early, DS was 1 wk early so I just hope this one is eager to get out too!!! DS's birthday is 11th May, so also desperately hoping not to spoil his day!!

I'm very jealous people are finishing work soon! Lucky you! I only work two days a week, so only have 10 working days to go, but it's over the next 5 wks. Wish I could just get it all over with in two weeks, but unfortunately it doesn't work like that in schools :-(

Also jealous of people who haven't put on weight - I feel like an enormous whale and am already planning out a running regime hopefully starting in May!!! Despite usually being a size 8/10 I always seem to put on a lot of weight and don't lose it all until finishing breastfeeding. Consequently I have pretty much admitted defeat and am eating like a pig! My belly measurements have been tailored to me based on both DC's birth weights and this one seems to be moving up the average line despite me feeling so big!

How organised are you all feeling now? I seem to have stuff piling up, but nowhere to put it! Really need to sort storage space out this weekend!

Marabou · 03/03/2011 18:43

Wau, so it is possible that someone would actually offer you their seat on the tube! Hm, very encouraging seeing that we're looking to move house just before LO is born and I would need to commute the last few weeks to work. Not very ideal, but we would rather have the move out the way before than after the birth..

Lucky you cowboylover! I still have until the end of April to go at work and hating every day of it :(.. This is my first so I don't really have any comparisons, but all my mom's births have been a few weeks early, so I'm hoping it won't run in the family, as I'll only have two weeks after finishing work before my due date..
