I'm now 33 weeks and I know it's not an exact science but I'm curious to hear as I'm always told that I'll likely be overdue as it's my 1st. But I do wonder as I'm reasonably active and my cycle was less than 28 days. I'm moving house around 36 weeks, so I hope the stress of that doesn't affect anything but also the idea of going to 42 weeks fills me with dread.

Basically, are most 1st babies 40 weeks plus?

42 + 1 or 42 + 5 depending on whether you go by my date or the scan date.

DD was all wrinkly and covered in meconium, though luckily DH got to clean that up as I was passed out on the bathroom floor haemorrhaging at the time. Smile

Loujalou · 12/08/2010 13:24

Was convinced DS was going to be late like me but was 34+1!

FlipFantasia · 12/08/2010 13:24

42 weeks - induced. Was also v active, worked til 37+ weeks and tried everything to bring on labour except castor oil...my sisters and mum also had first pregnancies of 41+ weeks (my mum was 42+3).

Gubbins · 12/08/2010 13:24

42 +6. And it was still too early as far as I was concerned.

How active you are has bugger all to do with it, I'm afraid. The day I was induced I walked 2 very steep miles to the hospital and was cycling throughout the pregnancy, right up to two weeks over. But like Crunchyfrog I had a family history of late births and breezed through pregnancy. With #2 I did a (small) assault course on my due date. (And she still didn't shift for a fortnight.)

VerityBrulee · 12/08/2010 13:25

On his due date Smile

RamblingRosa · 12/08/2010 13:26

3 days early.

FlipFantasia · 12/08/2010 13:28

Oh and my cycle is 23 days (my mum and sisters also had/have short cycles) so doubt that has much to do with anything bar establishing an EDD (in my case my EDD was bang on as I had IVF).

QueenofDreams · 12/08/2010 13:30

DS was born 40 + 18. It was a hell of a slog tbh.

Flisspaps · 12/08/2010 13:31

42+2 after induction. And she wasn't ready because she wasn't in the right position, will bloody well wait next time until DC is ready to come on it's own.

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 12/08/2010 13:32

Both at 39+5 (came as a surprise first time round as I am white, overweight, middle class, and my mother had long pregnancies (42-43 weeks). I had just assumed I'd go overdue).

belly36 · 12/08/2010 13:35

40+11 and 40+5

weepootle · 12/08/2010 13:35

My waters broke at 38+ with my first dd.

WinkyWinkola · 12/08/2010 13:36

Ds1 was 41+3

SpangleMaker · 12/08/2010 13:43

35+5

and am white, slightly overweight, middle class, and my mother had long pregnancies - I also assumed I'd go overdue.

What does being middle class have to do with it I wonder?

jennymac · 12/08/2010 13:45

gingercat12 · 12/08/2010 13:46

whysolate · 12/08/2010 14:00

My first was born at 40 weeks, my second at 28 weeks and my third (nine months later!) at 30 weeks. We spent most of 2007 in the Special care Baby Unit.

PadmeHum · 12/08/2010 14:01

39 weeks on the dot.

InVinoFerretsAss · 12/08/2010 14:17
