What week was your 1st baby born?

I'm now 33 weeks and I know it's not an exact science but I'm curious to hear as I'm always told that I'll likely be overdue as it's my 1st. But I do wonder as I'm reasonably active and my cycle was less than 28 days. I'm moving house around 36 weeks, so I hope the stress of that doesn't affect anything but also the idea of going to 42 weeks fills me with dread.

Basically, are most 1st babies 40 weeks plus?

42 weeks. The last two weeks were really hard and I tried everything to get him out but in the end was induced (purely due to dates)

ElusiveMoose · 12/08/2010 14:24

40+13 (not induced - had him the night before my booked induction Grin).

Currently waiting on no.2 - 40+5 and counting...

41 weeks, after 4 false labours, went into labour myself, but their were complications and needed induction in the end.

friend, first 41+6Shock

good luck, the wait is horrendous, but you won't remember when you have your babySmile

drivingmisscrazy · 12/08/2010 14:30

40 + 5 (their dates), 40 +3 (our dates, donor conceived, so think we were probably right :)

QueenSconetta · 12/08/2010 14:36

I was 39+5 but was induced, although the consultant said things were on the cusp of going themselves, x.

downbutnotout · 12/08/2010 14:38

dc1 (dd) at 40 weeks exactly, exhibiting a punctuality that she has failed to live up to since.

dc2 (ds) at 41+4, at which point I was climbing the walls as I have a fear of induction!! Needn't have worried - he shot out like a cork out of a bottle in the end...

Good luck - the waiting sucks but it's worth it.

Does your length of cycle make any difference though? I thought the due date you are given nowdays is based on the dating scan you have, and not on the 28-day formula? My GP originaly told me due date was 05 September, when I told him the first date of my last period, but I knew this wasn't right. My cycle is 35 days, not 28, and I knew I could not possibly have conceived on the date he was suggesting I had. After the dating scan I got a due date of 13 September, which sounds far more plausible to me and matches with the date I think ovulation occured.

Mummagumma · 12/08/2010 14:45

DS came along at 40+6, starting with waters breaking that morning, and arriving just before midnight. I dispute my EDD though, and by our own calculations he was only really a couple of days out.

AngelHMum · 12/08/2010 14:47

29+4

ElusiveMoose · 12/08/2010 14:48

gourd IME they only change the date after the dating scan if they think it's a week or more out. I'm 99% sure that my due date is about 5 days too early, and my dating scan agreed that it was 4 days early, but because it was only a matter of a few days they refused to change it, and kept the original date calculated by my LMP. Which may not seem important to them, but given that it could make the difference between me being induced or not, it really pisses me off.

upahill · 12/08/2010 14:49

DS1 started to be born on the day he was expected and then gave up and I went into next day with him!!

Ds2 was 10 days early (which I was glad about because he was huge then another 10 days would have finished me off!!)

FlightofFancy · 12/08/2010 14:56

37+3 (though only +3 by a couple of hours).
My mum had me at 37 weeks so had been warning me that he might be early - I still hadn't packed a hospital bag though!

hobnob57 · 12/08/2010 14:59

DD1 40+13 (Induced)
dd2 40+16 (refused induction)

But then my mum was late with all of us...

NormaSknockers · 12/08/2010 15:01

My first was 39+4

DomesticDisaster · 12/08/2010 15:05

DD1 40 + 13 (refused induction)
DS2 40 + 14 (induction in end as had no fluid left)
Definitely not having a 3rd as I seem to be pregnant for far too long...

cinnamongreyhound · 12/08/2010 15:08

ElusiveMoose when I had DS, he's 3 and 4 months, they didn't change my due date because of dating scan as they only did it then if it was a week or more out. This time around it made my due date 1 day later and the one from the scan is my official due date on all my paperwork. Was glad as any days added make me less likely to be induced.

cantmummyhaveabreak · 12/08/2010 15:10

39+1 with DS (DC1)
38+1 with DD1
32 with DD2.....

couldn't wait to be out!! Grin

pranma · 12/08/2010 15:14

Both my babies came exactly on the due date which is quite unusual I think.
