What week was your 1st baby born?

I'm now 33 weeks and I know it's not an exact science but I'm curious to hear as I'm always told that I'll likely be overdue as it's my 1st. But I do wonder as I'm reasonably active and my cycle was less than 28 days. I'm moving house around 36 weeks, so I hope the stress of that doesn't affect anything but also the idea of going to 42 weeks fills me with dread.

Basically, are most 1st babies 40 weeks plus?

Sallypuss · 12/08/2010 12:50

bebejones · 12/08/2010 12:51

40+9 (labour started after stretch & sweep at 40+6! But DD was back to back and no one figured that out Hmm)

Oumasrusks · 12/08/2010 12:51

My first was born at 39 weeks exactly.

purplefeet · 12/08/2010 12:52

waters broke 39+2 then induced the next day and ds arrived the day after that at 39+4

CrunchyFrog · 12/08/2010 12:55

42+3 - induction
41+5 - no induction.
42+3 - no induction.

There are risk factors for going overdue - being white, being overweight, being middle class, your mother having long pregnancies (my mum went to 41 weeks with twins, and was induced then!). I have never suffered the way I see other women do at 38 plus weeks - none of the babies have been engaged until labour, no real puffiness, quite a small bump despite 9lb + babies. Everyone's different!

BabyGiraffes · 12/08/2010 12:56

38+4 and 39

without · 12/08/2010 13:01

First was 2 weeks early, and the second, two weeks late and induced... go figure!

Igglybuff · 12/08/2010 13:06

40+8 days. Those were a looooooooooong 8 days especially as my two neighbours due after me had theirs before me!

I went walking every day until labour day and had a 28 day cycle. I was mahooosive at the end though (no surprise as DS was 9lb 4oz!)

NewbeeMummy · 12/08/2010 13:07

42 +1 induced and the emergency c-section.

Was most annoyed as the midwife I'd been seening had sworn I'd be 2 weeks early.

tanmu82 · 12/08/2010 13:09

37

VJay · 12/08/2010 13:13

ds1 42+4

hmmSleep · 12/08/2010 13:15

dd - 37 wks, but emergency c-section so doesn't count.

ds - 38 wks

fiziwizzle · 12/08/2010 13:15

42 weeks. I walked up and down hills for an hour every day while pregnant. She came when she was ready!
