Oh cool JB well done, now for the interview!?!

Rubs & Lady the vapours don't cause a fungal infection they just encourage growth if it's already there. A bit like jam, if you stuck some bacteria in it'll grow. So you haven't caused the nappy rash Rubs but not using them may help reduce it.

Hooray on the viable bunny in your tummy Mom, and 2nd the ridiculousness of not getting named MW if your a bit late. Can't they just book you in now? Loads of people don't even know their clackered until late. I remember with DS1 I found out I was pregnant at 5 weeks I think even before period was due or bang on the due date and when I went to the GP on the tuesday he tof me I had to decide where I was having him by Friday or I would not get a 12 week scan by 12 weeks. It would be more like 15 weeks. I very quickly decided to go private.

DS2 had his first professional haircut today. DH took him & DS1 to a kids hairdressers up the road. It's great it has little bikes & cars that they sit in & little TVs to watch while they have their haircut. DS2 was great, I told DH to tell her he needed quite a bit off because he gets so hot in this weather. Unfortunately she seems to have taken DS2 for a girl as she has given him quite a feminine haircut and hasn't really done anything to reduce the heat problems for him. She didn't even cut it over his ears as you would expect for a boy.

The vapours! Sounds very 1700's, spontaneous generation, blood letting, and all that. I meant pampers.

OP posts:
traceface · 14/07/2010 20:03

lol veggie I thought you had some scientific knowledge about the vapours emitted from various nappies
That hairdresser for kids sounds ace!

Nolda · 14/07/2010 20:17

Well done Invisible and Jolly and I'm glad the scan went well MoM.

Avo I saw this and thought of you, well of your DD2.

LadyT about the Pampers thread, we haven't had the pools of wee in bed that some of the other mum's complained about but I thought that might be because DS is a boy. He did have nappy rash though, which cleared up as soon as I put him back in the babydry we usually use. As a result of reading the thread, I will be trying Tesco's own brand ones as, if they are as good as the mnetters say, I wouldn't be averse to saving a bit of money.

Veggiemummy · 14/07/2010 20:44

Oooooo I just dipped into another thread the Denise Van Outen one. I didn't say anything inflamatory but I might not go back as it scares me out there.

I had some input on the discipline of 3 years olds thing but I need to charge up this itouch again if I type out loads and lose it I'll be cross

KiwiPanda · 14/07/2010 20:55

Mom that's great news about the scan! Was really sorry I couldn't make it to the meet up on Friday as would have loved to congratulate you in person

Veggie There's a hairdresser like that on the King's Road I saw the other day, very cute! DD, however, is still a very long way away from needing a haircut, bless her...
I admire your restraint on the Denise Van Outen thread by the way, I read the Daily Mail story and wanted to SCREAM. I mean, obviously I'm extremely pro-BFing what with still feeding DD and all, but really, to cite the main reason for stopping feeding a 3 week old as basically vanity is just.. well...

Anyone know how long conjunctivitis is likely to last?? I'm still suffering really badly, driving me crazy with all teh weeping and itching and eyelids sticking together (lovely). People at work keep thinking I'm crying too which is a bit .

Quite evening on my own tonight as DH is out at a work event thingy (poor man, think he'd much rather be on the sofa with me). I ought to be hunting for his Oyster Card which I managed to lose while he was away but I can't be arsed. We really need an idle emoticon don't we?

KiwiPanda · 14/07/2010 20:55

ps anyone who likes nice baby clothes of organic variety - Green Baby sale has just started and there are some mega bargains

SummerLightning · 14/07/2010 21:04

Hello everyone only got phone as laptop packed. Professional packers ace I have done nothing! I think I love them! Dh and I very sorry to be leaving our little house though. First house boiught together and we've been here 5 years and improved it quite a lot. Tears tomorrow probably (from dh as he is a wuss)
rubes sorry ds is under the weather and you are at the end of your tether hope things start to look up for both of you soon.
Invisible what fab news on the job hurrah! And jolly good luck for the interview eek sure you will be great!
Mom great news on the scan
right I am going to post this no good at big posts from my phone.

SummerLightning · 14/07/2010 21:07

Xpost kiwi. Ooh at green baby. Might have a look.
Dh had conjunctivitis I think it lasted 4 days or so and it seemed like he had it quite badly to me so fingers crossed it clears up soon.

JamInMyWellies · 14/07/2010 21:21

Ooh I am so glad MOM fingers crossed for an uneventful next few weeks.

Big hurrah for prof movers SUmmer.

Well DS1 has gone from being an absolute shite to being fantastic in the last 24hrs. Who knows how long happy cooperative boy will last. But will keep my fingers crossed.

V exciting news in the Jammy household. My BF from NY is making a flying visit over here in a couple of weeks. Also my little DSIS is coming over from San Fran in a couple of weeks too. It is going to be lovely 2 of my most favourite people here at the same time.

Invis great news on the job.

Veggiemummy · 14/07/2010 22:19

Aw Jam that's lovely. Will you get out for a girly night? On the discipliney things to try (cos one size doesn't fit all hence 'try') I read in the no cry discipline solution book to do the count then if you get to the final number they lose something. Don't threaten to lose something that is difficult to take away or that you want to do, like a trip to the park or to the pool, just something simple. We used to threaten DS1 would lose his stories at bedtime if I got to 10 without him stopping what he was doing wrong. It seems simple and not a worthwhile threat but surprisingly it put the fear of god into him. I've rarely gotten past 3! 9 times out of 10 it worked, very occasionally it didn't and at these times he had to go to bed without his book which he really didn't like so remembered next time not to push it. These days there is no threat I just start counting to 10 and it's like a pavlovian response he just stops.

zoejeanne · 14/07/2010 22:20

Congratulations Invis, fab news! And also Jolly. Well done both of you

How has the book launch been Spot? Have you been bursting with pride? I think I would

Beans you must have wonder boobs, Pru is thriving ? despite all the probs with reflux/colic. Well done you

Good news that littleLadyO has upped her eating a bit, hopefully it?ll be 2 slices of toast this time next week

v happy to hear there?s good little heartbeat inside you Mom. What a relief. I hope it gets stronger every day. Its sounds v annoying to miss the window for getting a named midwife ? however we don?t get a named midwife round here, just the opportunity to meet the whole team (all 3 of them). The notes they kept seemed good enough to make sure they all knew what was going on ? and I do know that if I didn?t like one, I could request not to see that one again. So, if missing a named midwife is the only issue, then I?d say enjoy your trip

Good luck with the move tomorrow Summer, don?t be too sad ? think of all the fun times to come in your new house, with your new, bigger family

Thanks for all the second opinions on my friend ? I think I?ll start by running it by her DH, to see if it was a one off or if she?s like that at home as well

I am a bit with DH tonight. We both have next Wednesday off for the annual agricultural show round here, a day we both really enjoy. That means he can?t look after DD as usual on Monday so he can get ahead with work, but he?s only decided that tonight. I?m sure nursery will take her for the full day, but I have a late meeting at work and won?t be back in time to pick her up (I could cancel, but I?d end looking foolish as I spent most of Monday cajoling them to include me and give me a slot on the agenda), MIL works late on Mondays so won?t be able to pick her up either. I?m cross because I?m the one who has to book her into nursery, find someone to pick her up, or cancel my meeting ? when IMO Mondays are his responsibility, so why can?t he make alternative arrangements. Grrr. Men

Veggiemummy · 14/07/2010 22:21

Obviously that doesn't work if he is running like buggery up the road.

OP posts:
Veggiemummy · 14/07/2010 22:34

ZJ that's a poo, I know what you mean it's always left to the mums to sort stuff for some reason. Can he not get back to pick her up?

OP posts:
LadyThompson · 14/07/2010 22:38

Hey, well done on the interview, JB! If you try to see it as a challenge to be enjoyed (honest) that has helped me cope with interview nerves in the past.

Mom, I am so super pleased for you about the scan! That system seems a bit rigid though. Do you have to go in person to book in - can't you do it over the phone? (Guess not). Mmm.

We had DD's nutritionist appointment today - 13th of flipping October! We have a follow up appt with the paediatric consultant in mid-Sept, to see how she has got on, so it's all a bit daft. I think we might have to take her to a private one at this rate. Her food intake today was lamentable and I am so worried about the amount of crisps she is eating - for the salt content alone. But it's so often a choice between her eating nothing at all, or something crap, and I am desperate for proper guidance.

I am impressed that P would get the hang of the naughty step, Trace. I can't see O cottoning on to that, at all. She is laying off the pinching though, which is a relief.

Kiwi - a remedy for conjunctivitis I've heard of is a few drops of baby, 'no-tears' shampoo in lots of water, and swabbing your eyes with a cotton wool ball soaked in this as often as you can (you can keep a bottle of this solution with you). I mean, you might need some hardline unction as well but it's worth a try...

DD needs a haircut, Veggie. She looks like a hobbit baby unless I have it in a ponytail. However, I think they'd need to tranquilise her first, even with bikes and cars and tvs...

I think DP has relented on the first name I want to give DD2 But he does indeed want free reign on the two middle names. Which I think I can live with.

Jam, hurrah for your nice visitors. Was your niece the one who was ill?

Right, off to bed to read. I am having to hold the book about an inch from my eyes like and old giffer, though, so it's no fun.

LadyThompson · 14/07/2010 22:43

X-posted with you, ZJ. Yeah, can't he finish early to pick up your DD?

Veggiemummy · 14/07/2010 22:46

Lady it's not his first cut, in fact it's about his fifth, just first at a proper hairdressers, so he is used to it (will have to be with his head). Also he watched his brother get his done first.

OP posts:
zoejeanne · 14/07/2010 22:47

Lady DD is also a crisp fanatic. I try to give her the baby organix snacks instead of normal crisps, because the salt is much lower. And some are vegetables I think, so must count towards her 5 a day!

zoejeanne · 14/07/2010 22:51

on DH, he'll have to go away, so sadly he can't pick her up

Veggiemummy · 14/07/2010 22:51

Oh & Lady that's terrible. Can't they fast track it given her age? To be fair though I don't think you can do much more than your doing but like you say some guidance would be nice. I tend to lick off any excess salt from crisps, chips. Just a quick tap on my Tongue to remove it without making the food ikky or soggy.

OP posts:
LadyThompson · 14/07/2010 23:08

Well Veggie...I was thinking why can't they fast track her, but then, she isn't actually sick, so I suppose with limited resources, it's important that a sick person has a more urgent appointment. Still might go private though.

I've been trying to find the perfect cream for the entrance of my cottage, but somehow everything looks either magnolia, or beige, or off-white. Mind you, I am doing the tester pots over a sort of a foxglovey purpley pink that was there before, which can't help. Anyway, I MUST stop wittering and go to bed.

TheInvisibleHand · 15/07/2010 00:29

Thanks all and best of luck jolly.

Its late and way past my bedtime, but wanted to say LadyT if you want to see a nutritionist/dietician there is someone who saw DD when she first got diagnosed with her allergies - if you'd like details contact me on FB.

Beans33 · 15/07/2010 10:09

Morning all! I'm just waiting for Sybs to arrive - how lovely!

Just thought I'd say hi and wave at everyone - well done on scan, Mom - hurray! And with interview, JB - yay!

had 2 lots of 4 hours sleep in a row last night. Was amazing! DH did a feed at 9.30, so I went to bed at 9 and she slept til 1am. Bloody marvellous. I love expressing for my sleep benefits!!!

xx

Veggiemummy · 15/07/2010 10:52

Bugger I just wrote a post and lost it, oh well wasnt that exciting, just ramble.

Say hi to Sybs Beans, I meant to post her the link of the heeled crocs heretis mine are a dark brown top sandal bit. Only the bottom bit made of the weird plastic stuff.

Poor DS2 is suffering badly with his teeth. He has gone off all food though tries everything but starts to cry as soon as he bites down. I usually up his BF when he's like this but he even cries when he tries to suck. I've given him neurofen and managed to get some feed into him and he's napping now. Lots of cuddles this afternoon I think.
