Great, I knew she'd be doing really well.

I love it when they take you into their secret world of school. They get so excited about showing you everything and are so proud about every piece of work that's on display.

You stay as you Tree! We'll find you if/when we need to if you have to name change.

Right am off to bed. Don't seem to be able to manage much past 10 pm these days, but then again I am managing to get up earlier and morning school runs seem to have improved as a result.

So, off to read a chapter of The Princess Bride and fall asleep with my face on the book after two pages as usual!

treedelivery · 06/07/2010 22:20

Moose, You are me - or I am you.

Totally the same. I am getting up a bit earlier and it is making such a difference, and I also fall asleep after 2 pages.

In fact, can I be you so we can have a camper? Cool!

Night night all. Going to have a snack and try sleep. Am on a bit of a high, what with one thing and another. Am hungry though, and nights tomorrow so need to get some sleep in.

Mum has the H-bomb, and dd1 went to sleep cuddled up wth me as a treat. Happy days.

LeonardAndDeirdre · 06/07/2010 23:03

Night Tree. Have been wandering tonight, I got kind of used to it in my absence. Need to sleep, 7.40am train tomorrow. 20 minute ride to train. Need shower before get in car. Need to dress DCs and feed before get in shower. Shit.

treedelivery · 06/07/2010 23:18

Wandering. As in amongst the forum, or amongst the trees in your nightie?

I'm still up. I'm not very good at going to bed.

You haev a busy morning. Do you ever think it would be easier to just stay up!? I wonder sometimes.

You look young and happy in your grad photo, couldn't see outfit though!

Rescue remedy. Ipod/phone. Get a book downlaoded. This is the answer.

Poor you DOG.

LeonardAndDeirdre · 06/07/2010 23:22

Very generous of you not to mention that I also look fat a complaint that wandering in my nightie might fix. Perhaps I should try it.

Sleep avoidance is always my answer to panic about the next day. It's like arming yourself for a fight with a dragon with a can of petrol and a silk negligée.

LeonardAndDeirdre · 06/07/2010 23:25

Sorry Dog, that wasn't directed at you. You my dear are at the horrid but beautifully productive phase of pg. It will pass and you'll have a gorgeous baby at the end of it. I have no advice to offer on the sleep other than lie down and hope for the best.

stripeywoollenhat · 07/07/2010 10:14

morning all, hope the insomniac tendencies all dissipated.... we have germs here, the gift of a cold from c's cousin. am feeling very whingey myself, and c is a wreck - i've put her to bed but she is wailing up there so i think i might have to get her back up again. bah.

nothing else to report, really. moose, hope hospital trip is helpful. and that you remembered your book.

okay, better go and extract her

treedelivery · 07/07/2010 10:26

Morning folks.

Hello Stripey and Tink.

Good luck Moose, and hope you slept DOG.

I slept like a log in the end, am tired now so will go to bed for tonght soon [on nights]

Have just ordered 3 finger gaurds for our pato and back doors. Also got some funky slam protectors, like hands. here I saw them in M&S on their loo door and decided to track them down. The new playroom has the patio doors and I intend to let the girls have free use of them, and if they slammed they could take their hands straight off

moosemama · 07/07/2010 11:41

Haven't heard from the doc yet, so still no fracture clinic appoinment. At this rate it won't be today at all.

Have been doing my usual all morning and convincing myself it feels much better and I really don't need to go anyway.

Tree - you know, sometimes I think I might be you and you might be me - so many similarities. Maybe we were separated at birth OR having both got Irish roots, maybe we are related somewhere waaaay back down the line. Don't know if its the same where your family come from, but with mine there are entire parishes where everyone seems to be related to one another. I daren't even try and count the number of cousins I have - maybe you are a long lost cousin!

Good to see the charity threads are still going strong - you have done a good thing there and should be very proud of yourself.

Stripey, sorry you have colds, its awful getting them this time of year, it always seems extra unfair when its not winter and you catch a cold. Hope you are all feeling better soon.

Dog, aargh for the pregnancy insomnia - you poor thing. I remember it too well. Have you looked back at the late pregnancy threads from this lot at all? Might be interesting and something to make you chuckle when you're awake in the middle of the night. I ended up watching endless reruns of Star Trek and Red Dwarf as there was absolutely nothing else on in the wee small hours.

Nothing on here today - other than waiting for the flippin' phone to ring.

Got stupidly wound up this morning, as with my Mum collecting the boys instead of me ds1 keeps leaving everything at school. Yesterday he left all his homework, his diary, his lunchbox, 2 drink bottles and a tupperware pot. Such a pita when they don't have their lunch boxes to take the next day, as we don't have any spares. Its not her fault, and its lovely of her to collect them for me, but I have a mental list of what they should be bringing home and if they don't have it they get sent back in to get it. Suppose I'd better start writing a list for Mum to take until my foot is better.

treedelivery · 07/07/2010 12:16

Moose, we are Co Clare? Still though, small island. Probably are related. Almost certainly!

Sorry to hear no appointment yet. You realise they will ring, your appointment wl be in 40 mins, and you won't be able to do school run? This is waht always happens. Hope your mum is on standby.

Lunch boxes. Am in a bad patch with those so I won't go there.

Enjoy planning your escape in August. Very

moosemama · 07/07/2010 13:08

Get this, GP just called and said "Hello is that the fracture clinic?" !!!

Me: "Er no this is Mrs X"
GP: "Well could you possibly give me the number for the fracture clinic then?"
Me: "Er no, I'm the patient, not the hospital!"
GP: "OMG, how embarassing, I'm so sorry, I must've dialled the wrong number. I'm having such a bad day."
Me: "Don't worry about it, we all have bad days."
GP: "Oh thank you, as you can tell, I am trying to contact the fracture clinic for you. I'll call you back in 5 minutes."
Me: "Ok speak to you in a few minutes."

Poor woman was mortified. Easy mistake to make though, she had two numbers in front of her and just dialled the wrong one, bless her.

She has now called me back and said the local hospital can't see me until Friday but the the Orthopedic Registrar said that is too long as the injury is already 12 days old.

So have to go all the way into town to the main hospital where she has briefed the Ortho there and they want to re-xray and compare films. They said they will make a judgement based on that, but that if its still hurting after 12 days, there is a real possibility I might have to have it set in plaster. I really don't want to have my leg in plaster.

Am now trying to organise Mum and dh for lift and school run - which is proving harder than getting the flippin appointment in the first place. Gah!

treedelivery · 07/07/2010 13:11

Ah. I was right! No school run.

Poor GP . Maybe you won't need a plaster, and then your mind will be put at rest.

Good luck, hope you get school run sorted. x

moosemama · 07/07/2010 13:43

Thanks Tree. Shouldn't you be in bed young lady?

Dh is going to come home at 3.00 and take me and Mum is going to do the horrible double school run (Chess Club) and look after dd for me, bless her.

So another couple of hours to kill. Will carry on searching for accessories for my wedding outfit I think.

treedelivery · 07/07/2010 13:52

Oooo shopping. I like shopping.

I have earche and can't settle

Got a sore throat too. Pah. It's all very sore actually, my mood is on a downward spiral.

moosemama · 07/07/2010 14:28

Aw Tree, think positive thoughts. Think about all the good you have done with Ellie's thread.

Haven't managed any shopping, I've been reading up on avulsion fractures and treatments insead - I know, I know ... step away from Google.

Haven't learned anything new anyway.

If you're bored, I need an antique gold (coloured) necklace/pendant and bracelet and some shoes either in a very dark antique gold/bronzey colour or black.

I was initially thinking a pair of killer heels, but have obviously had to rethink that and am now thinking a really funky pair of flat or low wedge sandals, maybe gladiators? I really don't know, I'm hopeless at this.

Oh and a weddingy handbag to go with it.

The dress is a mix of very dark green almost black and lighter green crinkle silk, maxi in a column style with a matching self-tie belt and has a v necked edged in pretty/delicate antique gold embroidery. It has one flounce at the bottom as well, which is also edged in the same embroidery and has little capped sleeves.

Have tried to find something similar to link to but can't find anything vaguely like it, its quite unusual and very boho looking.

tinktellyaddict · 07/07/2010 17:25

mm - good luck @ hospital
bless lady with phone call

tree - oh no witll earache etc!!

moosemama · 07/07/2010 20:37

Well, I have just got back from the hospital. Arrived there at 3.45!

They knew nothing about me and there was no record of a phonecall from my GP.

Can you believe it, I tripped on a step on the way into the hospital and re-sprained the same ankle!

Still, had another 5 xrays taken and was prodded and poked until I was in agony.

The Orthopedic guy said the tendons/ligaments (sorry not sure which) have pulled the tips off the 5th metatarsal joint and its now free and moving around inside my foot. Which is why the pain has been intermittent. Also the outer ankle bone is badly bruised and the ligaments are a long way off being healed. Not helped of course by the trip on the way in.

So, I have to go back tomorrow to see the Orthopedic Consultant, who will decide whether or not they will operate to remove the bone chip.

He did say that he felt the majority of consultants would choose conservative treatment over surgery with this type of injury, but couldn't hazard a guess as to which way this particular consultant might jump. If they don't operate, I will need to keep the weight off it as much as possible until the pain is gone and then gradually reintroduce it. At least they have finally given me crutches, so its actually possible for me to keep the weight off it and still get around a bit.

So, there we are - the continuing saga of Moose's poorly foot. Can't believe I have to go all the way back over there tomorrow.

Where is everyone tonight? Its tumbleweed city round here.

chefswife · 07/07/2010 21:05

My goodness... didn't realize I'd been away so long... you all are chatty.

In regards to DD's university education, all the child tax benefit goes into our savings for a house. DD is half buying a house for us...lol. The thing is, in as much as it may seem unpleasant, it isn't out of the scope for your little ones to pay for university themselves. My father worked on the assembly line at GM for 35 years and died at 61. My mother occasionally worked, occasionally. Her money was hers anyhow. I have Double Bachelor's of Fine Art, Honour's Degree in Visual Art and Post-graduate Degree in Fine Arts and not a cent in student loans; I worked as a server part-time while at school and full time when school is out. It can be done and the appreciation for your education is far greater, in most cases. Some kids are genuinely grateful for being able to have an post-secondary education. All I'm saying, is don't fret too much. It can be done. Think more about your LO being at University instead of how you are going to get them there.

DD has been nursing another fever the last couple of days. We just finished lunch so I think we are going to sit in the garden.
