I did the Birmingham BRMB Walkathon a couple of times as a teenager - that was 26 miles, but it was lots of fun, a bit like a mobile festival really.

They've just started doing it again and I have to say I'm tempted to relive the experience next year. Would need some powerful incentives to persuade any of my friends/family to do it with me though.

moosemama · 29/06/2010 23:03

Lol 120, maybe something along the lines of:

"The many, varied and frankly, unbelievable disasters of the Moose"

or

"I'm still standing" by A Moose

or

"Oh no! What now!" by A Moose

LeonardAndDeirdre · 29/06/2010 23:12

Oh F it.

Pat - dog has new no. will text to you in am in case you are tucked up right now.

moosemama · 29/06/2010 23:17

treedelivery · 29/06/2010 23:18

'Cakes, breaks, and forums'

moosemama · 29/06/2010 23:24

Now that sounds like a good title Tree. I might have to write one now, just so I can use it.

treedelivery · 29/06/2010 23:28

Do it! It could be a guide to forum use, cake baking, party organising and how to find anything you want from a website somewhere in the UK. A modern womans guide to parenting!

The tunic I wanted from Toast ages ago is in the sale. As per usual the size and colour I need is sold out

Have bought some Frugi stuff in the sale out of spite

Was also on FB and saw that a local girl who died of cancer has had a song released in her memory. He school are trying to get it in the charts. Money is so unimportant no?

So spend it I say!

moosemama · 29/06/2010 23:34

Hmm, think my dh would disagree with you there Tree.

Am off to bed to, need matchsticks for my eyes and must be on the ball for tomorrow's re-match with the school.

treedelivery · 29/06/2010 23:36

Morning.

Great news Dog. Glad all ok. You must be totally knackered love.

do the mornng on my own and find it fairly full on, so you have my utter sympathy. I have help for bedtime and am utterly grateful and know how lucky I am to have a dh who is at home and mucks in. So don't worry about saying you are finding it hard, it is hard!

tinktellyaddict · 30/06/2010 11:31

glad all ok dog phew

mm - agree get to a and e my luvly just encase

hi hkz - exciting about scan

well off to dd1s first school sports day @ 1

moosemama · 30/06/2010 12:58

Phew Dog! Thank goodness for that, you had us all really worried. Glad everything is ok.

And yes, I agree, bedtimes are a nightmare at the best of times, without being 31 weeks pregnant. You are most definitely well within your rights to feel the way you do.

Learning Support Review Meeting went well - I think. Again, reserving judgement, but they were much more switched on and covered the transition to next year and handover to the next teacher, so all sounds good. It helped that the SENCO supervised ds1 and a few other children while the others went off to do a string instrument concert (ds didn't want to go). She did some assessments with him while she had him his is off the scale for his reading ability and currently working at 11 years old for spelling! She was also able to observe his social interaction and they played a social skills board game. The brothers that bully him a lot were there as well and she found it useful to observe their interaction with him and his with them. Main points were:

  • They are very keen to encourage his confidence and improve his self-esteem, as well as significantly improve his view of school, so have made provision for him to use a dictaphone to plan and organise some of his work and he is also going to be allowed to use mind-mapping an pictoral plans rather than writing outlines of what he wants to write (big issues with him hating handwriting, probably relating to fine motor dyspraxia).

  • I am also allowed to write down his workings out for numeracy homework for him, as he often has a big meltdown because he just wants to stick down the answer but not explain how he's done it.

  • They also said that he will be allowed to complete homework on the computer where the content is more important than the handwriting practise. That will make him REALLY happy.

All of the above will make my life a lot easier and him a LOT happier.

  • Confirmed that a home-school contact book will be put into action in the next few days.

  • Teacher has already started having end-of day debriefs with him to air his worries and/or talk about any positive aspects of the day.

  • He still has the same targets for handwriting and spacing, but with the understanding that these are unlikely to improve massively, although he has improved slightly.

  • They are going to make a big deal of him becoming a free reader to help him understand that he is bright/intelligent and doing really well at school.

  • He will continue to have access to a designated adult at lunch-times and to be able to either sit in the classroom with his teacher or on the chairs in reception and read if he feels he can't cope in the playground.

So, all good stuff. Some of it to be implemented in the remainder of this term, some for the new teacher to implement next year (she is meeting with the SENCO and his current teacher to be briefed on his needs).

Phew - hopefully last meeting with the school this school year - yay!

Weighed myself yesterday and I haven't lost any more, but haven't gained since I hurt my ankle, which is not bad for someone who's basically sat on her backside for the best part of the week. So am satisfied with that. Haven't had anything naughty to eat for just over a week and a half and the cravings for chocolate have finally left me. Only sugar I've had was in a glass of chilled Purdeys, but that doesn't count because its choc full of vitamins and minerals so is good for you.

moosemama · 30/06/2010 13:02

Just had a thought though, have to bake 36 cupcakes for the Summer Fayre today - quick - someone send me the strength not to eat any of them.

Am quite looking forward to it actually. I've bought some lovely wafer 'upsy daisy' style flowers (giant daisies) - white petals with a yellow centre and yellow centre with yellow petals and am going to do a whole mix and match yellow and white theme.

Right better get baking then.

moosemama · 30/06/2010 13:04

Tree - before I go. Someone on the festival link showed me this nappy whaddya think?

teaandcakeplease · 30/06/2010 13:31

Although I'm sitting here eating truffles while both kids are napping

DOG - you have 3 DCs and you're heavily pregnant, even the pope would find bed time hard Good your H has a job though, just hard for you. Sending you a ((hug))

treedelivery · 30/06/2010 13:35

Well moose, have to say the school seem to be making some really good noises. Fab!

Send me a cupcake????

Now am only telling you all ths to be nice, not naughty as usual. [grn] The Frugi sale is really quite good! Am a bit as lots of things we have are dirt cheap now [sob] First time I've really bought from them, normally get the vests 2nd hand off ebay. Hatts s doozing off in my lap wearing this with a fushcia napy and t looks the business. Had to get size 6-12m though Only £11 now!!!!!!!!!!!!

That nappy rocks!
.

120 · 30/06/2010 13:37

teaandcakeplease · 30/06/2010 13:40

Wow Frugi is lovely, never heard of them before.

treedelivery · 30/06/2010 13:45

Hiya 120.

Ooooh tea. Come over to the dark colourful side . Can't say enough about this cornish dress. Cotton is so so so soft silky, problem is now high street stuff feels like tissue paper and there is no going back!! I may have had a small occurance and I may have bought these because we have the all in one and it rocks.

I need to work more hours for funds me thinks

120 · 30/06/2010 13:55

Lol tree. You can't tempt me

Moosey stay strong. Curiously I've dropped a dress size, but not lost weight.

I can now say I'm pretty sure I've dropped the morning feed. Not done one for a week and H more than happy to go and have milk in the kitchen with Daddy. Woohoo.

Am going to tackle the evening feeds next month and then will hang up my b/f bras for when/if we have another sproglet and concentrate on getting drunk fit.
