AL! Are you around? I hope you dont mind but when I mentioned to DH about someone off my antenatal thread was going twycross and it planted the idea in his head, so might see you there!

sparklycheerymummy · 24/06/2010 20:36

HI guys sorry havent been around for a while.....have been frantically ebaying trying to make my fortune. Have actually been doing pretty well...thinks today has been the last bf.....i skimmed and a few others seem to have reached this point. Ds point blank refused me this morning and that was the only bf i do. so he had breakfast....ready brek and fruit and 40z milk, lunch with water, milk mid afternoon and tea with water, bed with milk - 3 milk feeds and 3 feeds. He is chomping on anything and i dont puree now just mash. He likes to have some chunks of food to feed himself alongside me doing my bit. Had a few bad nights but figured out he was too hot so now in summer sleeping bag and nothing else except a nappy! Thought he was teething but not sure now! He is crawling forwards now and not nose diving or shuffling backwards but now i cant leave him anywhere at all so its hard work!!

Have had tears over stopping breastfeeding....never ever thought I would still be feeding him at all at this stage! BUT ds was so satisfied after his brekkie and milk i felt better and has sat still having a cuddles a few times today so he still loves me. He never normally sits still. This he will lose some of his chunkiness now!!!!!

going to read through everyones comments and chat more later. sunshine..... are you sure the rash isnt teething....my friends little one has the same and her teeth have just poked through!!!

sparklycheerymummy · 24/06/2010 20:57

Oh and CLaire......have been feeling the same. Feel a bit like its all over.....my baby is crawling, eating, not bf and being a good boy. he no longer needs me and only me. :-(

LaDiDaDi · 24/06/2010 21:02

Sounds lovely Sunshine. Been ages since I've been to the theatre to see something grown up!

Took dd to my mum's house after nursery in the car today. When I told her what we were doing she was hysterical for about 15 min, crying with excuses about why she didn't want to go. I told my mum this afternoon that until ds was night weaned (hopefully v. soon) I was not going to make dd stay overnight at her house. I could tell that my mum was not happy aout this/thought that I was doing the wrong thing but I'm not prepared to let dd think that I'm bundling her off to grandma's house so that I can cuddle ds (obv. not what is really happening but ykwim). My mum and dad are a massive help to me in so many ways but sometimes I do get irritated by the way that she seems to have a way of letting me know that she disapproves of my parenting without actually saying so. I know that she's going through a tough time at the moment as my gran is so ill so I'm trying really hard to let it all just wash over me.

Sparkly, really pleased to hear from you. Your ds sounds like he's thriving. My ds is still pretty unsure about solid food!

sparklycheerymummy · 24/06/2010 21:45

He is a good eater thats for sure but i feel sad that the milky cuddly baby stage has gone...... if you still have that then treasure it!!!

AlCrowley · 24/06/2010 21:55

Why on earth would I mind ABF? We'll meet you by the wanking monkeys

Ran 7.5k tonight!! Makes up for quitting after 2.5 on Tuesday when it was just too hot to run. Still working on my jelly belly

LaDiDaDi · 24/06/2010 21:59

Well done on the run Al. I've asked for a bike from dp for my bday so hopefully will get some exercise with that .

sparkly, I keep having awful waves of sadness about giving up bf. I don't feel like anyone in rl understands at all how it's making me.

LaDiDaDi · 24/06/2010 22:07

Dp has gone to ASDA on a random shopping trip, I did shop yesterday am. Will see what random stuff he buys!

sparklycheerymummy · 24/06/2010 22:09

I understand lovey......in a way I am glad ds has given up on me not me giving up on him but its still a huge emotional churn. cried my eyes out this mornign with dd...... tried to explain to her in terms an 8 yr old would understand. AM taking ds to the sensory room at our local sure start place tomorrow to cheer me up, dd got a tarining day at school so coming to. £1 to hire it for an hour.......bargain!!!

AmazingBouncingFerret · 25/06/2010 08:21

Why is the only baby cereal out there porridge???///??
Elizabeth hates it. Ive tried it mixed with fruit, ive tried flavoured, plain.

When Jake was a baby you used to be able to get a baby corn flake cereal. He used to love it but I cant find it anywhere!

Im annoyed, Elizabeth wont have her bottle, she is wanting food but not liking the porridge and it's all ive got. Grrr

AlCrowley · 25/06/2010 08:38

Ella do a "Baby Brekkie" in a pouch. It's yogurt, rice and then either banana or mango...?

Either that or I just give Catherine fruit thickened with baby rice

AmazingBouncingFerret · 25/06/2010 09:45

Yeah I might stock up on some of those when I go shopping later. I bought some Cow and Gate "mango suprise" at the local shop after dropping Jake off at nursery. After looking at the ingredients ive learnt that the suprise is that there is only 21% mango in it!!

AlCrowley · 25/06/2010 10:13

I'm off shopping later too - for picnic to take to the zoo We're going to go on Sunday figuring it'll be quieter while everyone else watches the football.

But first, a 3rd birthday party to tire them out...

AmazingBouncingFerret · 25/06/2010 12:02

Yup that's what im shopping for, picnic food. Had a great laugh with Jake discussing what we can take, in the end we were suggesting all manner of disgusting things like slug sandwiches and snake salad!

Yey! Lets do a Dec 09 meet up at Twycross

Unfortunately, the football's not on till 7pm so there's plenty of time to do both

Children were fab in Tesco and I got all the shopping done with no meltdowns. Was very proud of them and now we have plenty of lovely picnic food and a big cake for my sister.

Glad everyone's weaning to formula is going well. Considering giving it a go here when we're back from holiday. Although I'm not as desperate to get my body back as I was with Alex and have daydreamed about carrying on until Catherine is 1 and just going straight to cows milk. I have a friend who's still feeding her almost 2 year old. Not sure I want to be doing that. I really need DH to bond a bit better with her very soon. She just wants me a lot of the time because I am where the milk is and I think he's feeling very excluded. He doesn't even want to hold her a lot of the time. We had a bit of an argument about it last night with me saying he has to try else things will never get better and him saying there was no point as she only wants me!

Well done on the running Lee. I've got another 5k to do tomorrow morning organised by Parkrun. They do them all over the country. Maybe there's one near you? It really helps me because it's a set time that I have to go which stops me procrastinating and running out of time, they properly measure the route and lay it out with 1k, 2k etc markers (I love the 4k marker - means I'm nearly home ), they time you and put your times and PB's up on a website and ours even has a photographer too. Still waiting for the week where I don't look like a bit fat running raspberry

LaDiDaDi · 25/06/2010 20:05

Interesting that you say that about your dh Al. Dh gave ds his bedtime feed last night and really seemed to enjoy being able to do it. It made me feel a bit less glum about stopping bf.

I've had a look at that parkrun website, it looks great and there's one near me but it's at 9am on a Sat and dp starts work at 8am on Sat (unless it's a very special occasion eg wedding) so I doubt that I'll get to do it however it's good to see the course and has made me think that I could do the run myself at a more convenient time [hopeful emoticon].

I've put a pic up of ds having his first meal, a whole week ago now!

hendo77 · 25/06/2010 20:16

Al - England match definitely kicks off at 3 pm on Sunday, although you'll be thrilled to know there are other matches at 3 pm and 730 pm on sat, sun, mon & tues!

I also am very impressed on the running. Now that Imogen is taking the bottle during the day I will have no excuse not to leave her with my parents and pop to the gym!

LaDiDaDi - what a lovely photo! I meant to say that I had/have those waves of emotion about stopping bfing, but I seem to be getting more OK with it as the days pass.

Sparkly - that sensory room sounds fab - which they had something like that at our one.

Klerka - fingers crossed that Holly and Imogen don't have to endure their first loss to a penalty shoot out on Saturday!

AlCrowley · 25/06/2010 20:20

Mine's at 9am on a Saturday too LaDiDaDi. I think most of them are. Have a look on the site for Freedom Parkruns. You do the course whenever you fancy and input your own time. They'll still keep a track of your times and PBs but obviously you'll be running alone rather than as a pack. It does mean you're not stuck with the 9am start though.

I got a link in my last newsletter but it goes to my personal Freedom Parkrun page so I doubt it would work for anyone else.

AlCrowley · 25/06/2010 20:22

Is it? Whoo hooo. DH thought it was 7pm and I was thinking my plan on making the most of an empty zoo was foiled!

Going to be glorious weather too by all accounts

hendo77 · 25/06/2010 20:28

Deffo, 3 pm kick off for England (on Sunday this is, not Saturday btw in case that's the confusion?)

OP posts:
AlCrowley · 25/06/2010 20:40

Yep, we checked - definitely 3pm

Means sisters boyfriend isn't coming though and other Brother-in-law will be leaving early too but that means more cake for us

Or any passing Mumsnetters

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 25/06/2010 20:51

Ha ha ha Al!! Hope you have a great time at Tycross!

It is sooooo warm. I am no good in hot weather, so god knows what i'll be like tomorrow. We ae going to a BBQ on Sun which also involves watching the fotball, so might just fall asleep in a corner!

Anna gave me a fright this morning. Was giving her a quick bath as she was covered in sticky pear from breakfast and i noticed she kept wanting to sit right forward with her face near the water. I kept hold of her, but then noticed she had actually put her mouth in the water and must have swallowed some, and she was struggling to breathe. Nightmare. so has to slap her on the back until she seemed ok again! Pobably not the thing to do, but hey ho. She has just started doing this leaning forward thing today. she can sit up quite well, for several minutes at a time, but occasionally seems to want to sit right forward and ether suck on the nearest thing, or as in the bath, put her face in the water. What's that all about?!?

Has anyone been watching the Glastonbury coverage?

Klerka · 25/06/2010 20:58

Hendo - I can't cope with penalties. I realised watching the game the other night how many Euro Championships and World Cups I have had to endure... from Gazza crying to Beckham getting sent off...

Of course - we have the happiest household here with Slovakia beating Italy. My DH was beside himself - he was at work and had to call me to confirm the score. (He works in an 'well known' Italian eatery though - his Head Chef is Italian at least .

I had to double check that the only way Slovakia will meet England would be if we both make the final. Now, I am an optimistic person when it comes to football but, I'll say my marriage is safe!

hendo77 · 25/06/2010 20:59

Ethelred - no idea why they do that leaning forward thing. Imogen also used to do that in the bath and I had a similar thing except dh happened to be there and noticed almost immediately! I think they are just exploring the water with their mouths, or trying to get to their feet which are under it or something. Imogen has now taken to sitting, then lunging forward to get onto her front then roll as necessary to get where she wants - she seems to hit her face/head quite hard on the floor but seems unconcerned by this, although when she lunged out of my hands in the bath she hit her head on the side, cue lots of crying from her and me!
