AmazingBouncingFerret · 06/12/2010 21:55

Hello everyone.
Sorry ive not been on in absolutely ages The house move kinda got the better of me plus I got bronchitis. Then Jake got it. Then he got chicken pox. Nightmare Im telling ya!
Sorry people that messaged me for a friends and family voucher I completely forgot about posting them out. Sad

However... I can tell you all now there is going to be another megaday type thing. 20% off everything including promos again. Starting this Thursday I think. Not sure how long for though.

HerculesPoiroastinOnAnOpenFire · 06/12/2010 22:48

Oh Blathers and ABF, hope you are all feeling better soon.

Blatherskite · 07/12/2010 13:21

We all seem to be feeling better today. Whoo hoo :)

Still can't think of an Xmas name though. No inspiration whatsoever at the moment!

i know, it's piggin freezing isn't it. brrrrr.
hope you are ok and that blathers, your wellness is not short lived!!

We are all ok having a few IL traumas. MIL slipped on the ice last week and has broken her wrist and leg and so has been in hosp for over a week and DNeph has bronchitis so it looks like none of DH's family will be coming to Anna's family do on Sunday. Sigh.
I know they can't help being ill and poor MIL must be so pissed off with the situation, but feel sorry for poor Anna cos DH's family never come to see us!
have any of you been watching Cora this week?!

BlathIceSkate · 08/12/2010 21:53

How about this for a Christmas nickname? Seems fitting given the weather recently!

Hope your family get better soon Ethel. Hoping the weather hold up for the rest of the week else Catherine's birthday party will be disappointing this weekend when none of my family can make it from Yorkshire and Dorset. As it is my Mum is still aching from her run in with the flu. Doctor says it's temporary arthritis brought on by the virus!! She's well, just still achey.

What's Cora?

EthelredRedRobin · 08/12/2010 22:51

Coronation Street!! Should have said Corra! I am a self-confessed soap addict!

Sorry, Don't watch Coronation Street...or soaps in general I'm afraid. Used to watch Eastenders and Home and Away before I went to uni but then went for a year with no TV and lost track of the plots and never really got back into it. I watch Desperate Housewives because I've set the PVR to record it but have no idea when it's actually on. The only thing I watch religiously is Strictly Come Dancing and even then, I missed a whole ween of It Takes Two while at Center Parcs and can't say I was upset.

Hope A feels better soon Lee. Catherine was looking better but has been really. really clingy the past couple of days so I'm not sure what's going on now.

Happy Birthday to Imogen. Good luck for Anna's party on Sunday too. Catherine's is on Sunday as well as otherwise it would have had to have been the 18th/19th and as it's the last weekend before Christmas, everyone was busy. Guess that's going to be the case most years now...

HerculesPoiroastinOnAnOpenFire · 09/12/2010 19:34

Thanks for the birthday wishes! We're having our little tea party for family and her supporting adult on Saturday so looking forward to that. Sunday we're meeting up with all our friends in the pub for afternoon christmas drinks as we haven't all seen each other together for ages.

Sorry - used to was corrie a bit and before that Eastenders but I seem to have just sort of stopped watching them - I think since having Imogen actually and never quite got back into them!!!

Hope everyone that is unwell recovers soon and that the parties go well at the weekend.

HerculesPoiroastinOnAnOpenFire · 09/12/2010 19:35

btw we're down to our last 37 messages - really need to decide on a thread name. I did it last time so someone else's turn to choose (cop out!!!)

BlathIceSkate · 09/12/2010 22:25

I vote for "Dec 09 - Still hoping for a silent night!" as Catherine's crying again Sad Poor thing has been really clingy and miserable all day. Not sure what's up with her. More teeth maybe?

HerculesPoiroastinOnAnOpenFire · 10/12/2010 12:47

Yes me too - I'm wondering about more teeth here too. Last night bed at 7 as per usual then she woke up at 9.30. I left her for a while but she didn't go back to sleep so gave her a bottle of milk then she just cried and cried and cried. She also was rubbing/pullling her ear a bit, but didn't seem to have a temperature. I gave her calpol still woudn't go back to sleep. In the end I took her into the bed in the spare room with me as she seemed quite clingy and stopped crying when I was holding her and for about an hour and a half she sort of cuddled me, had a doze, then woke up and realised where she was giggled and then licked kissed my face repeatedly then lay down and dozed for a bit longer. Every so often I tried to put her back in her cot, cue hysterical screaming, until eventually she did go back to sleep at about 1 pm and then woke up at 3.30 (so I just gave her half milk half water to drink so that I could get back to sleep) and she then slept until 9.0 this morning. Most bizarre really as she usually will not sleep with us, or on us at all so I did think maybe teeth or something bothering her...

Right decision made then on the title - I can't remember who thought of it now though...?

BlueChampagne · 10/12/2010 13:00

Love the new name, BlathIceSkate. Conrad has produced 2 more teeth in the last 3 days, and we've had 2 rotten nights, so I'm wondering if there's commonly a growth spurt about 12 months?

Conrad's finally starting to get into feeding himself and loves toast.

How about this for a new thread name:
Dec 09 - it's birthday time!

BTW, happy birthday to all.

HerculesPoiroastinOnAnOpenFire · 12/12/2010 10:52

Hi everyone, hope you are all having nice parties those of you having parties today! We had Imogen's birthday tea yesterday which went really well. Imogen really enjoyed herself and was very sociable. I attempted to make building blocks cake from that book (will try to upload picture soon). It ended up being a bit rushed though as I left it too late and then played netball in the morning and ran out of time, but I was quite pleased with it, bearing that in mind.

Having managed to avoid being unwell since having Imogen I now have a horrible throat which feelsl like I can't swallow at all and a bit of a head cold. DH has taking Imogen out shopping so that I can do nothing for a little bit which is nice especially as he doesn't feel the best either!

BlathIceSkate · 12/12/2010 21:37

We had a lovely time :)

Everyone enjoyed the hand printing - even those I thought might not get so much out of it - and we made loads. I think everyone did at least one extra thing on top of their bauble and the messy play worked brilliantly at keeping the bigger ones amused while we got on with it.

We did a hand and footprint plate for Catherine just like the one Alex did on his First birthday as well as a plate to put Santa's cooking on with a hand and footprint Reindeer on it, coasters for all the grandparents, baubles for both children and Alex painted a snail too :)

Everyone said they had a good time and one friend was even asking the lady who runs the shop when she could go back to do some more!

Afterwards we came home and met up with my family, I made everyone fajitas and we played with Catherine's new toys. My brother bought her the most beautiful princess tent which was a big hit with her and Alex too.

Cake was yummy but I was a bit disappointed as I messed the writing up a bit so it wasn't 'perfect' It didn't matter after we started cutting it up though. Catherine fell asleep before we could light the candles at the ceramic shop so we relit them on the half cut cake back at home just so she could see. Alex loved helping her blow out the candles.

I have had such a lovely day and am totally tired now. Happy that it went so well as I realised it'll be the last 1st birthday party I ever host so it needed to be a good one.

Hope everyone else had good weekends and parties.

Just popping in to see if everyone is feeling better. There seem to be some really nasty bugs going round this year Xmas Sad

Alex had his first ever School Christmas show thing today. He got dressed up as a wise man and sang songs with the other preschool children, it was so cute! He got invited to his first ever school friend birthday party too! We've only ever been to friends parties before. Is it daft that I'm nervous?

Oooh Blathers that's so exciting - I think I'd be nervous too, but I am sure you will be absolutely fine! Glad you enjoyed the school christmas show too.

I'm feeling a bit better, but my voice has almost gone which the boys at school did find quite funny as it sounded like my voice was breaking all day today!

I am exhausted though today as I spent hours doing christmas shopping this afternoon, but think I am very, very nearly there now...

Lee that really made me giggle about the toilet - must remember to always clean it sparkly clean before children's parties...!!!

HerculesPoiroastinOnAnOpenFire · 14/12/2010 19:57

LaDiDaDi - I reckon you should start the new thread with your title about hoping for a silent night soon too, before we forget!!!

The party is soft play and a Happy meal at the local MacDonalds. Not entirely happy about the junk food but once in a while won't hurt him. No chance to sneak and peek at the other Mum's house (or toilet) and will be a bit nerve wracking as I'll know no-one but her - and I've only spoke to her about 3 times at the school!!! - but you have to start somewhere.

Catherine has now gone 36 hours since her last breastfeed! I've been putting her off with snacks and cups of cows milk wehnever she's requested a feed and she seems to be happy with the alternative. I'm a bit sad that feeding might be over but also a little relieved that I'll now have a little more freedom. Because she would never take a bottle, it's been me doing all the feeds and all the bed and nap times for the past year. DH put her to bed for the first time ever last night and it was so nice to be able to read and sing with Alex properly again instead of trying to do it with a feeding Catherine on one arm. Bit torn that her last feed was at the school song thing too so I wasn't really paying attention as I was trying to get photos of his singing while she fed. We have photos of his last feed and I'd planned that it would be the last one so was making sure I paid attention and remembered it. I could give her one last feed I suppose but we're doing so well, I don't want to rock the boat.

Might have to organise a night out with friends to celebrate instead Xmas Smile

Hope everyone is feeling better. Hope your voice comes back soon Hercule.
