Thanks for the tip - Imogen still only sleeps with white noise playing in the background so I'm hoping it will actually help her sleep!!!

Hope the doc can give something for the rash it doesn't sound very nice for him (or you worrying about what it is!).

Nights are getting worse and worse it seems. Took just over an hour to settle last night then wakings at 10, 11.45, 1.30, 2.30, 5 then 730. Didn't feed her at 1.30 but did on all the others as it was the only way to get some sleep ourselves.

Sorry for your bad night hendo, it was worse than mine!

Sunshine, is that rash seborrheic dermatitis?

Really cross with dd's nursery today, not suee if I posted here after they gave the children lentils to play with despite knowing that she is allergic to them and she reacted? Anyway, this morning drop her off and I glance at the board with the picture of the fruit/veg of the day for all of them to have at snack time. I though, oh that can't possibly be peas (they know that this is another allergen for dd), surely not. It's just a really badly drawn picture of something else. Asked her keyworker what it was, oh yes it was peas . Explained that if dd touches or comes into contact with another child who has touched peas then she will have a reaction . Keyworker says "Oh, we might have to re-think". I will be furious if they give the kids peas, I really bloddy will .

Sorry for rant!

Feeling guilty now because Catherine had her 4th full night's sleep in a row!!

Well, almost. She did wake up at about 10.30 when we went to bed. I opened her door to check her and she was on her tummy. Not sure if she would have gone back to sleep or not but I disturbed her so she wanted a cuddle. I was convinced that she would want a feed as my pad had shifted and I had leaked onto my top so smelt of milk but she just cuddled down in my arms and went straight back off again! So that's 4 nights of 7.30/8ish till 5/5.30!! Still not counting my chickens and won't be surprised if she goes back again but I am definitely enjoying the sleep even with the early mornings.

I hope the doctor can get Andrew's rash sorted Lee. It sounds horrible Cheering up with a half birthday party sounds like a fantastic idea

And I hope they rethink their snacks LaDiDaDi. Her Keyworker especially should know about your DD's allergies! That's shocking

Pre-school have just phoned. Alex has had a fall and needs a plaster. Hope he's OK. I couldn't hear screaming in the background which is a good sign

sparklycheerymummy · 29/06/2010 12:31

I feel so so bad....thought DS was teething and it turns ou he has an ear ifection and conjunctivitis.....thought he had just scratched his eye., also he has managed to find the corner off a chocolate bar wrapper (which i didnt know he had eaten)and after much screaming in the night and writhing around he did a poo....well 2 in the night which is very unusual. for some reaon i checked his poo and found the wrapper there in it...... doc said it may have taken weeks to go through him and whilst he doubts there is anymore ds winced when his tummy was touched. no wonder he has been getting super hot...... thought it was just the sun and heat..... but no his ear is inflamed and there is fluid. am devastated!!! he had been pulling at his ear but dd did that when teething so was trying not to be paranoid.
he now has eye drops and penicillin!!!!

so anyone wishing their babies would roll and crawl dont wish the time away...... have no idea where ds got the wrapper but he is crawling a hundred miles an hour and he cant be left at all!!!

i so need a hug and not so dp ignored me trying to deal with himas i had been on computer instead of going to sleep last night. i had asked him if he could wahs up and do bottles just once as i was worn out. i couldnt settle so trolled ebay for bargains which helps me chill. i cant stand dp at moment and he turns to me and says.....when you speak to me with respect I won't have a problem dong my bit.....he should do his bit anyway and he spoke to me like my parents do.....GGGGGGGGRRRRRRRRRRR

He ignored you because you'd been on the computer

Oh Sparkly

Don't feel bad about missing the infection. You hadn't ignored it, you were trying to treat it and it turned out to be something else. I'm sure all of us with older ones have done the same in the past and I'm sure we'll all do it in the future too. It's getting sorted now and he is loved and happy - that's all that's important.

sparklycheerymummy · 29/06/2010 14:26

I know but him eating a chocolate bar wrapper.....or bit of it...... how the hell did I miss that!!!

AlCrowley · 29/06/2010 15:46

My friends little boy was eating gravel on Friday!!!

I'm sure they quite regularly eat things they're not meant to - he just chose something indigestible so it was more noticeable. No harm done.

hendo77 · 29/06/2010 19:01

Sparkly, don't feel bad! My brother ate lego when he was smaller and Imogen has already eat grass and dirt and a leaf. It'll be a briliant story to embarrass him with when he's 18. Anyway, if you had seen him eat it and taken him to doctors they would have said to watch his poo until it came out, but not to worry! And here is your hug you need !

Thanks for your sympathy with Imogen's sleeping - it's really annoying as during the day she is napping brilliantly now and requires no settling at all. Today at a friends I put her down in their travel cot and left her and she napped really nicely. Tonight I've tried to fool her into falling asleep by just putting her down like I do for a nap (missing out story and bath). She fussed a bit and required one settling but I think she might be asleep now. I'm hoping that even if she wakes up relatively soon I can then just bf her and put her back down and that will at least save the hour or so of settling we've required recently. AS for the frequent wakings, just going to give it a few more days and then think about what to do if it doesn't get better.

Al don't feel guilty! I think you deserve all that sleep after your broken nights previously!!!

Lee - what did the doctor say about the rash btw?

AlCrowley · 29/06/2010 19:28

I gave Catherine blitzed Nectarine for lunch and I think it's disagreed with her She's been sicking up all afternoon. And then we were so busy cleaning up, we forgot to give her any dinner!!

There's no way she'll sleep through tonight!

I'm missing running this evening. I'm already sticky from the heat cause it's really muggy, sticky and smelly from being puked on all afternoon and feeling a bit hormonal and grumpy. I think tonight calls for a pizza and a nice sit down...

Thanks - it was a bit better for a while. She had a short nap then woke up half an hour later!!! Anyway, we just bought her down until she got tired again and then feed her again and eventually settled her just before 9. I've just re-read my sleep book too and am going to try and be a bit more structured with a routine and times of naps. I'm also not going to let her sleep after 4.30 at all and try to wake her at 7 every morning - probably from the weekend or monday.

Glad you got some cream for the rash and that you know it isn't allergy related - at least you can go back to trying all sorts of foods again now. Hopefully it will help clear it up quickly. I am impressed with your sewing skills - I am dreading having to do stuff like that!!!

I'm with you on leaving it all until the last minute Lee. I now need to find dd's birth certificate for tomorrow am and my visit to her new primary. It must be in a safe place somewhere....

AmazingBouncingFerret · 30/06/2010 07:44

Sparkly. Hope you are feeling a bit better about things. If it's any comfort I caught Elizabeth chomping on the dog the other day!

Cant believe Jake, he had been eating an apple, he got most of the way through it and put it down on the table so I handed it over the Elizabeth so she could have a chew on it. After a while Jake noticed, came stomping over, snatched it off her and threw it in the bin! Now that she is starting to act not so "newbornbaby like" im going to have some trouble with them. He doesnt like sharing and didnt like it when we bought her some new toys to play with now she is sitting up. Should be interesting!

It's amazing the difference in temperament in Elizabeth now she can sit up. She was so frustrated on her back and wouldnt be left alone. Now she will happily sit there and play with her toys or watch the TV I have no excuse for sitting on mumsnet all day now!!

Well, after all that puking Catherine slept from 7.30 till 4.45am! A very early morning for me as she was then wide awake and wanting to play until 6am but I'm very grateful that she wasn't up every hour through the night!

Sorry to hear Jake is struggling with his little sister ABF. Alex seems to be coping a bit better now Catherine is bigger. We had all the potty training regression and rubbish sleeping while she was a newborn but now she can interact with him, he seems a lot happier. He is taking over her toys though!

It won't be long till the new ones can snatch back and then the fun will begin!!

Claire236 · 30/06/2010 10:39

Hello everyone. Off work ill today having been attempting to fight off a bug for a week. On the plus side I've actually had chance to have a proper read of the thread.

ABF - think we might have similar problems now ds2 is getting bigger. A few times ds2 has reached out & grabbed toys of ds1s & ds1 has promptly snatched them off him. He's still great with ds2 most of the time so we'll see how it goes.

Sparkly - don't feel bad about your ds eating chocolate wrapper. Once they start crawling they eat all sorts of random things, not your fault. Sorry things aren't too good with your dp at the moment. Of course he should be doing his bit regardless of how you speak to him. Surely parenting is a joint responsibility.

Lee - I frequently wish I could sew (or at least had one creative bone in my body) since ds1 started school. I've got a friend who always manages to send her dd to school with an absolutely perfect version of what's required whereas ds1 is lucky if I even remember. Hope the cream helps with the rash.

Sunshine, I would be having words with your sister, only 1 hat? that is appalling. She should be ashamed!

My sister is currently 12 weeks pregnant. She had her 12 week scan last week and the nuchal fold measurement came back as being 6mm. The baby has a leaky heart valve which could be causing the fluid. She has had test results back and the baby hasnt got downs (there was a 1 in 2 risk) or edwards (1 in 5) She is still awaiting further chromosome test results. On a happy note she knows she's definitely having a girl!
I text her today asking if she wanted to come round to sort through clothes she wants to keep and ones I can donate. But she said she is too scared too I have been trying to be "normal" about everything but I think i have upset by asking her if she wanted to do that. I hope I havent.

hendo77 · 30/06/2010 17:20

ABF - I didn't have any scary test results, but was completely terrified until I actually held Imogen. I didn't want anything bought or given to me until I was about 32 weeks pregnant and even then I just hid it all in a drawer! My best friend and others asked on numerouse occasions if I wanted stuff or was ready for presents and I just said no, but I appreciated the thought and it definitely didn't upset me. People I was close to I was able to explain why and it was nice to share my wories so it sounds like your sister is lucky to have you to talk to and I'm sure you haven't upset her.

OP posts:
Claire236 · 30/06/2010 20:01

ABF - I had an amnio with ds1 due to my triple test results & it was almost like my pregnancy was on hold until we got the results. I certainly wouldn't have been upset if anyone offered baby clothes though & I doubt your sister is.

My sister is pregnant, due 17 Aug & ELCS booked for 9 Aug, & she's really suffering as she's so big already. Measuring 4 weeks bigger than dates & my niece was 9lbs 1ozs so looking like a big boy on his way. We're going over for a week on 14 Aug so will get to see my nephew whilst he's still newborn.

Lee - I bet you still will shop for him but it's nice to buy things because you like them rather than because you need them. I'm giving ds2s 0-3 & 3-6 month stuff to my sister so she'll be in a similar position to you. Didn't realize how much stuff I'd got until I did a list for her.
