Thanks BlathIceSkate! Definitely reckon a night our to celebrate is a fab idea and I'm really pleased that you got to spend that quality time with Alex.

BlathIceSkate · 16/12/2010 09:52

It's been 3 days since Catherine breastfed now. Boobs are all tingly. She did seem to fancy a feed this morning but was easily distracted with a biscuit and a cup.

Feeling a bit sad still that it's all over. Really need to organise a night out to remind me what I've been missing. Was supposed to be going out with DH tonight as it's a year since we dropped Alex off at PIL's and had our last night to ourselves before I went into hospital on the 17th to have Catherine - we were going to go back to Pizza Express as a mini anniversary - but MIL is ill so can't babysit and we don't really have anyone else I'd be happy asking at such short notice for something so trivial. FIL offered to do it but he (obviously) lives with MIL and it would seem what she's had is rather contagious so we decided not to risk it. After the last bout of illness that had us all suffering for weeks, we just can't bear the thought of getting something else!

How is everyone else feeling?

HerculesPoiroastinOnAnOpenFire · 16/12/2010 11:22

Hello! Feeling sort of OK, very dodgy voice and was up for a couple of hours coughing this morning between 4 and 5.30 am which is annoying, but don't feel too bad with it.

Guess what? Imogen has slept through two nights in a row!!!!!! That's 5 times in the last 5 weeks (and in her life!), so we are definitely moving in the right direction. If she starts to keep this up, then I'll be able to think about stopping bottles during the day but at the moment I know if I didn't give her one when she wakes up at night we'd be there for hours with her screaming!!! I've been watering down the milk at night as I know she doesn't really need it, but if I just have water she refuses it, so I've been making it less and less milk and more and more water over the last week. I have no idea if it is just coincidence or if it helped. Anyway, I'm not working now until January when school starts so I've got a good couple of weeks to perhaps break the bottle habit if I'm feeling strong enough, we shall see.

Sorry to hear about your night out BlathIce - hope you can rearrange another evening out soon. Sorry to hear you're a bit sad about it all being over, I still remember suddently bursting into tears in front of some friends about it quite randomly after stopping, even though I knew it was the right thing for us at the time! It's all those blooming hormones... I also cried at the lyrics to puff the magic dragon around the same time!!!

Serious Lee the last two verses are very sad. The worst thing was my mum was in the car with me which made it even more embarrassing as I think she thought I had completely lost it!!!

Panto sounds fun as does you weekend in the cotswolds - I reckon you'll be OK getting there, you might just get stuck there and have to party for longer!!!

Poor Immy seems to have got our cough as has been coughing all afternoon with little red cheeks! She doesn't seem to have a temperature but given her some CalCough to hopefully help her. I am not holding out much hope for a third night of sleeping through though...

BlathIceSkate · 16/12/2010 22:01

I probably would have succumbed Lee, except her new top teeth really hurt! It's been a brilliant incentive Xmas Grin

For the first time tonight, I got to go out to my Zumba class and leave DH to put the children to bed on his own. I wasn't needed for feeds so I got to go to a class I would have otherwise have missed. It was lovely.

Catherine's birthday tomorrow. My baby is 1 Xmas Shock She's so beautiful, I love watching her grow and learn new things. Today, she learnt to push cars down the ramps on Alex's toy garage. It was so lovely watching them play together.

Oh and Alex announced "I love you Mummy, You're so beautiful" which brought a tear to my eye too Xmas Grin

HerculesPoiroastinOnAnOpenFire · 17/12/2010 07:57

Happy Birthday Catherine!

BlathIceSkate · 17/12/2010 23:07

Thank you Hercule. She's had a lovely day. Lots of presents this morning, then we took her to Alex's pre school christmas party where she was adored and stroked and cuddled by about 25 4 year olds, then soft play where she fell asleep from pure exhaustion :)

I gave her one last breastfeed at nap time and am now drinking lots of Baileys to celebrate :)

HerculesPoiroastinOnAnOpenFire · 18/12/2010 11:15

Good for you! Hope you enjoyed your Baileys!!!

I feckin' give up! DS spent all last night vomiting so it would seem we have managed to pick up the big from MIL and the SILs after all. All 3 came and visited because they just had to see Catherine on/near her birthday which is sweet but grrrrr, now we have another bug to contend with! It's horribly contagious so I'm sure we'll all have it soon Xmas Sad Which will be fun, as I have also pulled my back somehow and can't move very fast!

Not that we can go anywhere - we had 8 inches of snow yesterday. Bit worried that we're not going to get our online grocery order on Tuesday and not going to be able to get to my Mum's for Christmas on Friday. Luckily, I had a bit of a panic on Friday night and bought a back-up Christmas dinner which I've put in the freezer. It's only a posh Sunday lunch after all so if we don't use it for Christmas, we can have it another day - it won't go to waste. We're missing a few bits that are supposed to be coming on Tuesday but even if that order doesn't get through, we'll be OK.

Bit worried about my brother though. He's all on his own in Dorset. Hopefully, he'll be able to make it to us even if he can't get all the way back to Doncaster. How miserable would Christmas day alone in a flat be Xmas Sad

How is everyone else? Well? Snowed in?

HerculesPoiroastinOnAnOpenFire · 19/12/2010 10:29

Lee - hope you got home OK, or if not are at least still warm and having a good time with your family.

BlathIce - Oh no! I hope you all feel better soon and fingers crossed you dn't catch the bug.

This snow is unreal really. I have an ocado order coming tomorrow but am quite confident they will get here as we live in quite a built up area and it's only our road that would be a bit worse. Yesterday we went for walk to the local shops to get some dinner and took Immy in the backpack which she loved! I'm going to try and add a couple of pictures to my profile if I can...

HerculesPoiroastinOnAnOpenFire · 19/12/2010 15:12

I almost forgot to say - Immy appears to have given us our christmas present early - the gift of sleep! She has slept through every night since last wednesday night from about 7 pm each night to somewhere between 7 and 8 am the next morning! The only night she did wake up, she woke herself up with her coughing, had a very small drink and went back to sleep. I really hope this continues as I never thought it would happen and can't really believe it seems to have sort of happened overnight!!!

HerculesPoiroastinOnAnOpenFire · 19/12/2010 15:13

Only 11 messages to go - we should start the new thread soon before we forget... I did it last time, definitely someone else's turn this time!
