Had a good time last night except one of my friends got very drunk and ended up making a bit of a fool of herself...

AngeChica · 04/07/2010 15:56

Enhorabuena LaT & Sr LaT on your DS & I bet managing a VBAC feels like a great achievement and a big relief for your recovery.

I think I have accepted you into that group hollyoaks and will send you a message with who's who on the thread.

MIL has been here from London for a few days, surprisingly we have had a nice time. We went out for the day and went on a ferry, fairground rides and miniature railway, so guess what was DS's favourite thing that he did: "poo in park" .

hollyoaks · 04/07/2010 18:45

Just a quick message, pics of the girls on fb group Thanks Ange

LaTrucha · 04/07/2010 20:24

LaT - gorgeous

had a lovely day on my own today as DH stayed on at PIL with the boys - i came back early for my orchestra concert last night.

Did some gardening, watched tennis, read papers in bed and even fit in a cheesy awful film

T has his taster session at his new school tomorrow morning, hope it goes ok, sure it will he's pretty independent.

right off to bed soon

LaTrucha · 05/07/2010 12:21

Ok. Short story cut long here:

Labour was heralded by an entire night of a violent tummy upset, which started at 1.30am 30th June. By 6 in the morning, this had turned to being accompanied by regular contracations every ten minutes, and I began to think it was labour. Apparently, a stomach upset is quite normal: I had no idea beforehand!

I went to the hospital to be checked and monitored because of dehydration and having strong contractions between 2 and 4 minutes apart. Obviously, this wasn?t established labour, but the midwife predicted there would definitely be a baby in 24 hours. She was right! She offered to keep us in but we went home until about 5.30pm, with contractions 2-4 minutes apart all day. I couldn?t feel the baby moving so went back in. The monitor showed a sleepy heartbeat, so the doctor asked for me to stay in although the midwife thought it wasn?t necessary and I did. Contractions almost totally disappeared until 9 o?clock. Typical.

At 10.15 the midwives began monitoring me, and again showed the baby with a sleepy heartbeat. It also showed that I was having regular and painful contractions every 4 minutes. I wasn?t at all dilated though, so the midwife thought it looked like a c-section. After a whole day of contractions and all my hopes this was difficult to swallow, but I did my best.

I was coping ok with the pain but the midwives kept asking me if I wanted painkillers. I was very proud of myself saying, no I was fine. At 11pm, they suggested (and yes, I was phenomenally lucky to be looked after by two midwives to myself all night. Women on the days either side of me were nowhere near as lucky) I had some pethedine, either to stop the labour and let me get some rest before a c-section or to speed it up dramatically. Speed it up dramatically it did and within minutes I was in full labour. Not so proud of myself now as I was absolutely beside myself with pain. I walked down to the labour ward, full screaming. When I got there they presented me with my pain relief options and I really felt I wasn?t coping so went for an epidural.

I don?t know if they were just being nice to me, but they said that full labour had come on so rapidly that my body had had no time to adjust and I was overwhelmed. They said they had called DH and I really didn?t want him to be there, seeing me like that. Fortunately, the epidural man turned up and did a truly excellent job. The pain was taken down, but I could still feel everything and move my legs. DH arrived about 5 minutes afterwards, so never saw the howling she-beast version of LaT! So, to cut a long story short, I rested for a bit then the pushing began. Baby?s heartbeat was still sleepy in periods so a c-section was always on the cards. However, I managed to escape it. At the end I had two midwives and a doctor cheering me on through most of it. If they had been busy on the ward that night, I'm pretty sure they would have just sectioned me. I have really been very fortunate. DH was happy because one of the machines was going wrong every time I had a contraction so they asked him to press the right buttons and make sure it was in the proper limits so he had something to look at that wasn?t too scary (suited me fine: I was beyond hand-holding)! First stage of labour lasted 5 hours, second stage 48 minutes. Daniel was born with his cord quite tightly around his neck so he needed oxygen, but they did put him straight on my chest, so I got my mucky cuddle in the end. He was a bit stunned but came round well. He took some milk at some point, though I don?t really remember it. Fortunately, they still weren?t busy so we both had a delicious sleep with him on my chest on the delivery table. Just gorgeous. One tiny tear and no stitches. One very happy and totally loved-up LaT.

fillybuster · 05/07/2010 17:18

Hurrah for LaT ...glad to see we both got what we wanted in the end. Just you wait - you'll be going for the full hypnobirthing-pool-monty for #3 !

Tamara has her visit to nursery tomorrow to see her class, meet her teacher and classmates etc for the September start. Bless, she's very excited Its only 30mins so hopefully I'll be able to time Mia's feeds around it....

Then A has his school sports day in the afternoon....so again, hopefully feeds will be flexible as I really wouldn't feel comfortable bfing in front of all the yummy mummies - I'm self-conscious enough about being 2 stone overweight right now !

Mia is doing great and A & T are both being fantastic with her. sadly she seems to have some sort of psychic link that tells her when mummy is just about to fall asleep, day or night, at which point she demands milk/cuddles/reswaddling/winding. If I stay up, she settles beautifully Still having some major wind issues - 2 hours of screaming in the night and quite a lot today too...hopefully the infacol will start working soon....

Hope T enjoys his visit tomorrow JKS

simpson · 05/07/2010 18:42

LaT - so glad you got the birth you want

Filly - what are you getting A for his birthday? I am in need of ideas Hope T will love nursery as much as M likes hers. She generally has hissy fit when I turn up to pick her up as she does not want to leave

Had J's appt at hosp for his op on 23rd and its all systems go atm providing I can get rid of the cough he has as they won't operate if he is ill

Am at hosp with M tomorrow for a much needed dietician appt. Had horrific poo today all over white leggings (hers not mine )

Although my friend popped round today and thinks her back teeth are coming through which would expalin her not eating much, and generally out of sorts...

JKS - how did T get on??

simpson · 05/07/2010 18:46

forgot to ask if anyone knows who I would report a pit bull terrier to??

Don't want to start thread on MN as it has potential to go tits up!!

Basically a neighbour a few doors down has a pit bull terrier cross (only found out from another neighbour today what it is but have never liked the dog tbh) and I am not happy as there are young kids playing outside and its on the verge of being able to jump over the front gate in its garden...

Other neighbours have been told to make sure their cat does not go near it as it will kill the cat

LuckySalem · 05/07/2010 19:15

Congrats LaT - It sounds like a dream and I'm glad you got your grubby cuddle

simps - firstly, a dog may kill a cat, just cos its a pitbull dont make it more likely. It is his garden and most sensible cats wont go near a garden with a dog anyway
However, if you want to report it then its your local dog warden but make sure it is one before you say pitbull.

Bit better here apart from sick child and a demanding baby who has learnt to roll over

simpson · 05/07/2010 20:16

Lucky - my concern is that the dog is almost getting out of its own garden by jumping at the gate and its only a matter of time before it does get over it I think.....

Also there are very young kids that play outside together (J is one of them) iyswim.

Not sure if its a pitbull myself as I can't tell

Hope A feels better soon....

simpson · 05/07/2010 20:17

PMSL just posted message saying hope A feels better soon, then realised both your DDs are an A Lucky

I mean Ali

Lilyloo · 05/07/2010 20:41

LaT so glad to read your story and the outcome

LuckySalem · 05/07/2010 21:00

S - try speaking to owner unless they are unnapproachable? See if they'll secure it better?

LuckySalem · 05/07/2010 21:02

oh and ta for the get well wishes, she seems better now

JustKeepSwimming · 05/07/2010 21:12

Evening everyone

Hollyoaks - yes the surgery has been a total success (so far ) he's done so much better than we could have hoped

LaT - what a great story, well done you! and glad DH had a job to do!
Maybe an odd question, but did you feel any twinges from your c-s scar at all?

Filly - hope T enjoys her nursery visit, T loved his new school, would've stayed on much longer no problem! But, he was tired and grumpy this afternoon/evening...
Don't be self-conscious about feeding will you, 3rd baby and all, you'll hardly be 'getting them out' for all to see!

Simps - really hope the dietician can suggest something, poor M & you can't go on like this
I know nothing about the dog situation, but i would report it to someone, worst case? you feel silly when someone comes to you and says it's a poodle
How is the bath sit coming on??

News here:
H has learned how to get down the steps from the kitchen to the patio, and then down to the grass
this takes a huge weight off me as i was getting those stomach flips every time he went near any of the steps, and there are lots of steps.
He can also climb down from the new climbing frame in the garden, yey. Though he won't use the slide as he seems scared of that

Done some jobs today, always makes me feel better when i can see progress on my To Do list!

In the process managed to whack my elbow really hard on the kitchen counter it's still really sore, guessing i haven't actually broken anything as i'm not in constant pain but doing certain things really hurts.

simpson · 05/07/2010 23:30

Lucky - sorry missed you on FB

Not offended re dog that at all

TBH just p**sed off with seeing my 2 kitties being manhandled by a 2yr old to the point you can see them physically shake with fear.

(Not my 2yr old I hasten to add, one who lives next door) and am also worried about her dropping/forgetting them outside and them not having sense to keep away from dog.

Have had words with 2yr olds mum but does not seem to have done much as 2yr old had black kitty in her toy pram and was running around at top speed with it 10 mins later

Oh well, they have only got another week or so then they are mine

Owner of dog not approachable at all!! So can't speak to him or his wife (who is nice actually but would tell him, then obv. its me if I report iyswim)

JKS - bath situation bad as ever although got her in shower yesterday in my arms and she was quite happy so that may be the way to go

PMSL at dog being a poodle

Right off to bed now as have another hosp appt tom for M!!!

LuckySalem · 05/07/2010 23:50

Then in that case if your worried (and this is the mother side of me not the dog lover side) you need to contact someone as your children are a priority.
Although try not to mention Pit Bull as it is an automatic death sentence for dogs, just ask them to speak to the neighbours about a dog that may escape.

Have fun with your kitty when you get it, and watch em like a hawk cos I know Salem's fave game when he was little was to hide and swipe at my heel as I walked past! lol

simpson · 06/07/2010 08:20

I know this might seem harsh but tbh I really don't like that dog

Have been very uncomfortable about it for a couple of months now and it was only when I was chatting to another neighbour (grandmother of 2yr old next door) and she said she had been told it was a pitbull X then I thought well maybe I can report this iyswim as its not right.

I just don't understand why somebody would want to own an animal like that anyway tbh. They have 2 other dogs who look the same but smaller who are no problem just the usual barking protecting their territory iyswim and they have young DCs themselves although not as young as mine.

Oh well, have to go and get M up and her bedroom stinks of poo [eeek]

Am getting 2 kitties

[glutton for punishment emoticon]

as I think they may entertain each other and apparently my 2 are inseperable and before he knew I was having both the grandfather next door said they would have to be homed together.
