DS1 gone to bed with a high temp, sore head, here we go again and it's half term Sad

fidelma · 13/02/2011 20:50

Temp of 104 tonight!!!! He has had ibouprofen and calpol Sad
have called my friend who was comming tomorrow with her 4 children as we can't give it to them.I hope it doesn't last all week.

fidelma · 13/02/2011 20:51

oh and I fell sick but I expect it is the large bag of popcorn that I have just eatten!

Scout19075 · 14/02/2011 22:22

More than half way through the treatment and for the first month since August have maintained my weight. WAHOO! I haven't heard from the hospital regarding this latest round of tests and (substitute) doctor said they'd only call if there's a problem. I still might call my GP for the results, just to put my mind at rest. That, and they've extended my appointment time so not due until April now and I can't wait that long! [impatient emoticon]

We (finally?) have walking with purpose and balance here, not just odd/random steps. Knees are still faster but he's getting more and more confident. The first time he did it he stood up in the middle of the kitchen without pulling up and walked into the living room shaking his tambourne. Still working on teeth five and six -- so near and yet so far.

MrScout and I had thought that S and I would go back to the States this spring for a visit but looking at what's coming up I'm not sure when I'd actually be able to do it. Sad I'd quite like to go home.

Waves to everone.

HappyTangerine · 14/02/2011 23:27

fidelma Thats rotten luck for your ds-how is he now? Hope noone else has come down with it[fingers crossed emoticon]

littlepea I hope you're having a great week with your dh at home and are being spoiled rotten

Scout Yay for weight maintainanceGrin Well done you. And yay for the walking! Sorry you may not to get back home, I hope you can somehow. I really want to go home to Wales soon and see a bit more of my mum but fuel is so expensive at the moment.

Joe had a nasty fall a few days ago and hit the back of his head. He was sick straight away, more from the shock I think. Had him checked out and all is fine. He's got some swollen lymph nodes in his head/ear from teething and a mild ear infection but is generally ok.

I have a question about potty training but am worried I'm going to sound stupidBlush

fidelma · 15/02/2011 13:09

HT love stupid questions, can't wait !!!!
All on the mend here.

HumphreysCorner · 15/02/2011 18:54

Hi all

Have read all your news. I am now on a lower dose of AD's in order to wean myself off them but sometimes feel rubbish. Like today but thar may be PMT. The girls won't eat anything I make then an unavailable number phoned which was a sales call so lost the plot at this point.

Half term next so looking forward to not having to rush to school every day and night. The girls are having a sleepover at mum and dad's on Friday and Saturday which will be a change for them and us. The weekend after we are away in the caravan so that will mean no HR work for me and DH will be able to spend some time with us instead of being at work.

Matthew is walking well and still waking in the night for a bit of boob. Dreading weaning him off it by the time he is 2.

Anyhoo, Wine or Brew to you all.

HappyTangerine · 15/02/2011 20:40

Ok-we have nappy off time for about an hour after dinner/before bath. During this time,Joe has recently taken to running to the toilet, standing in front of it and er weeing. Am I to start thinking about potty training or something now?

fidelma Great news, now you can all enjoy the rest of half term.

HC I bloody hate those sales calls, they drive me nuts. Good luck getting off the ADs, take it really slow. Summer coming up should help. Have a great time on your break

fidelma · 15/02/2011 22:24

HT thats good.I would keep it as a game for a bit longer.I usually potty train at about 2.They need to get the signal to go and be able to hold on long enough to get to the loo/potty.It is also helpful if they can pull their pants up and down.(easier with girls as they can go comando under a wee dress)
in my experience it has always worked when I WAS READY! as it does take a bit of work on the parents side LOL
Just been out swimming(floating) with dd1 (muumy time) bliss for both of us.
Dh is off from tomorrow.
HC hope all well with you. How's the broodyness?

HumphreysCorner · 16/02/2011 20:12

Broodyness is reaching boiling point fidelma. Help!

DH got a speeding fine and has a court summons as it was 44 in a 30 zone. Dread to think how much that will cost us. Sad

Wine all round.

CalypsoFramboise · 17/02/2011 07:38

Morning all! Haven't posted in ages but am reading when I can :)

PPM hello again! yay, lovely to see you posting, gorgeous photos of Freddie and he sounds like he's doing really well! Hope you find out what his intolerances are soon.

Littlepea I hope the back-to-back pain eases up and the baby moves to a more sociable position, sounds awful - and to have to struggle with 2 little ones on your own as well... Glad that DH is home at the moment at least

HC congrats on the weight loss! I didn't realise that you were still being treated for PND, I hope it clears up soon, must be so wearing. I have zero experience of older children but do remember supernanny suggesting to some parents that their wont-eat-anything children 'help' cook the meals and they seemed to enjoy eating their own creations, do you think the girls might like that? Enjoy their sleep-over!

Scout happy to hear that your weight stabilised and treatment is going well :) It's great when they get that bit more confident with the walking, it sooo cute! And I'm relieved to hear that Annalise isn't the only one without all their teeth, she's had 6 for about the last 6 months, no sign of any more! Shame you don't feel you can't visit home soon x

fidelma great all DCs are well again, hope packing going alright.

HT I can't believe how advanced Joe is - everytime you mention something he's doing, I feel like he's about 6months older than A!! DH wants me to get a potty, but since I can't imagine A wanting/being interested in it for another 6-9months at least, I refuse to have an annoying bit of plastic kicking about the bathroom for no reason {sticks head back into sand}

iggly how are you? Hope you and W are well x

hello to all lurkers :)

All alright here, still sporadically off with Annalise from nursery, she had bacterial conjunctivitis last week (gross) and is poking in her ear again which could suggest her 6th (!!) ear infection brewing. Dr sensibly won't prescribe AB, but I go and see him anyway a) since he's very easy on the eye heh, b) its becoming an issue with completing my thesis and might need him to write me a Dr note why I haven't been able to be at my desk working. I'm feeling so anxious about it I'm still waking up everyday between 3:30 and 4am {yawn}

Annalise has changed so much since she's completely given up crawling for walking in the last 2 weeks, much more self-relient; she seems so much happier to initiate activities by herself, usually carrying my bracelets and necklaces around to put them into things, but DH and I managed to watch 2 episodes of Come Dine With Me at the weekend whilst A cheerfully carried her rabbit about - was lovely! I sound mean don't I Wink

Also I bought a HUGE bundle of nice baby girl clothes (86 items!) on ebay for £16! Go me! Annalise has FINALLY grown out of almost all of her 3-6 month clothes and even some 6-9months so needed to get some 9-12 months - they seem enormous though!! I'm just starting to dress her in some clothes she was bought LAST christmas haha, she certainly gets wear out of her stuff :o

Right, best go wake A & DH up so I can get my kit on and run to work - my first run since I nearly died running the hardest 10k across the North Downs! Bye! x

Iggly · 18/02/2011 09:36

hello! this time I'm sticking around instead of being side tracked Grin

Grin calypso at your doctor. And I'm in awe at your running. I want to start running again but we don't have a decent park that's big enough - I don't like running on the pavements as I get a sore knee.

That's great HT - sounds like Joe knows what to do! We let William run about without the nappy too but he;s only managed to wee in the potty twice by pure luck. (We bought a book on potty training which suggested having a potty around so they get used to it). William doesn't get that he's weed though - he always looks surprised when we point it out Grin

scout sorry to hear you might not be able to get home soon. Can anyone from your family come over?

HC sorry to hear about the speeding. I hope the fine is not too bad, but I dont know about these things really.

littlepea hows the bump coming on??

AH well I've been very busy at the moment - learning to drive. 6 hours a week . But I have my test next week [scared] so the end could be in sight if I pass. That's a big IF. Work is much better too although very busy and I might increase to 4 days a week to get over the busy period. W is sleeping through more often than not but keeps waking at 5/5.30am with bad wind and wont resettle. I think losing the 1-2 hours a night is catching up on him as he gets really cranky very quickly!! But if he's had a good night or two, then he's much happier.

Well W will be up soon from his morning nap (woke at 5.15am so early nap today) then we're off to the supermarket and the bookshop to get him yet another book. He's obsessed with Meg and Mog. Also with cars, trucks, planes and trains (all of which we usually see on our walks into town). Such a boy Grin

Iggly · 18/02/2011 09:36

Also after nearly 9 months Shock we've almost reached the end of the thread!!!

HumphreysCorner · 18/02/2011 19:34

Love Meg and Mog. Smile

Ideas for a new thread title please. Smile

'Mobile and on the run, our toddlers are such fun' or

HC I like both the titles but should we also include October 09 incase anyone wants to find us ?

Should of been out for a very growen up dinner but Connor decided to throw up after his nap and get all floppy. After 4 vomits and a long rest on my knee he decided to start dancing (just when we could of been going out !) has been in bed since 6.30pm and has not made a peep.Hmm

Anyway dh suggested chinese,Grin which we decided to eat on the sitting room floor (WHY!!)

Snow forcast for tomorrow Sad

dc back to school on Monday Grin

HumphreysCorner · 19/02/2011 08:44

Oh that's a shame fidelma, glad he is better as sickness is so worrying. My lot are off until the 1st March. Forgot to put October 2009 infront of those titles

Just having a Brew it is so quiet without tthe girls. Bet it is not quiet at mum and dad's house. Grin

Have a wet good day. Boo rain!

HC dito connor is asleep and dh has taken the other 3 out.First bit of peace in 10 days Brew

HappyTangerine · 21/02/2011 21:12

Hi all, great to hear all your news. My router crashed last Tuesday and I was without internet for the rest of the week. I got so much done in the evenings!

HC Did you have a good weekend? I bet you missed the girls (in a it's too quiet type of way! Wink)I like both titles, my favourite is the second one though.

fidelma Thanks for the advice re potty training, glad I don't have to start just yet! How is Connor now? Has it snowed? It tried to here earlier and has been freezing all day.

Calypso Hello! Lovely to hear how you and Annalise are doing, I Smile at the image of her walking around putting your jewellry in things. Go easy on yourself re the thesis, you are doing brilliantly-it's not easy to study when you have a little one about. Congrats on your bargain, I love ebay! We picked up a sand and water table for Joe at a bargain ebay price this weekend, full of little shapes and magic sand.I've been after one for ages.

Iggly Yay for driving test-when is it? Good luck! I am sat here laughing at your comment abbout William and his books. I have stacks of them-current favourite being Owl Babies and Mog and Me. I have to read Owl Babies over and over and over agin each day, Joe loves it.I can recommend the ELC fire truck for hours of fun for W (and a headache for you!)

littlepea How are you? I can't believe how quickly your pg has progressed! Hope you're a bit more comfortable.

waves to Scout ruby and PPM

Well Joe's fascination with the toilet has extended to picking things up, running to the downstairs bathroom and chucking them in the loo. So far we've had a shoe(mine), sippy cup, mega blocks and my mobile phone. Oh how I laughed Hmm. It was "throw things in the bath" until recently, now this. Sigh. He's fast and quite sneaky about it but I have learned to be faster[evil laugh emoticon]. On a positive note-New shoes for me Grin

He's got nappy rash again, connected to his teething I suspect. Molars causing him a lot of pain. Waking at 5am at the moment and a couple of times at night so we're shattered. Now he's more confident on his feet he seems to be trying to talk a bit more-todays new words have been vroom, gurgle and ta-da!(when he reappears during hide and seek). He shocked me last week by saying clearly "I want dat" when I was getting him to choose a book. Not said it since though.

I'm on a pediatric first aid course for the next few Fridays so it will be interesting to see how Joe and dh get on all day together. I predict dh will be knackered. Grin Joe is really into walking up hills at the moment so they'll certainly be fit for our holiday in the Lakes this year.

Big wave to everyone, have a good week. x
