Sorry your feeling low :(

What are your plans for Christmas?

ScoutingForSanta · 16/12/2010 21:52

((HUGS)) to all of the poorly and unsleeping babies and their mommies. For once S doesn't have a streaming nose or a cough, but I'm quite ill with something. Had it for ages (or at least feels that way) and know I should go to the doctor like a good girl so they can check my immune system and/or liver & kidney functions. Blurgh. I feel like a human pin cushion already, which is why I've been putting off calling the GP. But I really should go so I can feel better for Christmas.

We're going to the inlaws for Christmas. Leave this weekend and get back after new year. It's a bit too much family togetherness/love for me, but it makes the rest of the family happy so I bite my tongue and try to smile. That, and thank God for the car so I can escape (with S if needed) for a few hours at a go and go shopping or for a tea alone.

Thank you all of the kind messages. I reread my post and I sound quite glum. I'm low, but don't think I'm as bad as I came across in my post. What has saved me is I know everything I'm feeling is normal and/or part of the medication. I should probably talk to my specialist about it at my next appointment, though. (eurgh)

Is anyone else having snow right now?

Igglystuffedfullofturkey · 17/12/2010 08:55

scout (love the name BTW), do see your GP. Xmas isn't far away now! Also with the inlaws, you can always say the meds mean you're not yourself and you need some space and rest.

We're going to the inlaws and I'm already getting twitchy about it as they like to stage manage everything Hmm

ScoutingForSanta · 17/12/2010 09:26

I cursed myself -- guess who's nose has started this morning. ARGH! And I called the GP and for the first time ever haven't been successful in a same day appointment. Double ARGH!

Igglystuffedfullofturkey · 17/12/2010 11:15

Is there an out of hours service at the weekend you can use?

HappyTangerine · 17/12/2010 11:47

Scout Ring back again this afternoon, explain your concerns and ask if you can be squeezed in. I've done this for my mum-in-law who has a health condition and for Joe - we are always found a slot. Worth a try?

Joe still not right, has a bit of a cough now. Antibiotic has made him vomit a few times (same effect it has on me.) Very clingy and miserable but still managing some mischief. As I'm up so much with Joe at night, dh is letting me have a lie in the past few mornings. He brings Joe in who promptly scales thr bed and wakes me up by blowing umpteen rasberries on my tummy and giggling like a loon! It's cheered me up no end-I'm a bit wiped out by sleepless nights and a UTI so all smiles very welcome.Smile

HappyTangerine · 19/12/2010 20:05

Our Christmas plans are goosed - I've just seen the weather report for Thursday. Xmas SadI daren't mention it to my mum but we have to start on plan b(stay here) I think. Need to buy a turkey. Joseph is definately on the mend though, just a blocked nose and bit of a cough now.

Interesting weekend so far. Dh left work at 8.30pm on Fri due to heavy snow starting to fall in Liverpool. It never, ever snows here. By 10pm it was a proper blizzard. Dh called to tell me that the train had caught fire at the front and they'd spend almost 2 hours stuck on it, freezing in the dark before the line was shut off. After walking half a mile down the track to the nearest station, the 100 or so passengers had to wait ages for taxis-he got in at 1.30am, freezing and shaken. By then a foot of snow had fallen and this town is totally unprepared for that.

Meanwhile, my sister was flying home from Tokyo and due to land at Heathrow yesterday at 3pm. She was diverted to Shannon airport in Ireland. Japan Airlines have put everyone up in a 5 star hotel in Limerick for 2 nights. She's ok but it's her birthday tomorrow and she was desperate to get home. It's pretty bad at my mums in Wales-locals have themselves cleared some of the roads but it's three steep hills up to my mums house.

How is everyone else? Xmas Smile

Igglystuffedfullofturkey · 20/12/2010 19:36

Hey HT, that's mental!!!! Are you able to get to the supermarket for food? I went at the weekend and it was very busy. Ive said to DH we might have to get back up Xmas dinner too... The ILs are only 20 mins away but if we have any more snow we won't make it.

littlepea72 · 22/12/2010 09:29

HappyTangerine · 23/12/2010 14:43

fidelma That sounds really tough to deal with - can you go to your mum's for Christmas or somewhere that has water? Hope it's back on soon.Am sending pipe thawing vibes your way.Xmas Smile

littlepea Hope the jab was ok. Swine flu doing the rounds here and where we are for Christmas but so is this virus thing-tis hard to tell the difference.

Iggly There's a little Tesco around the corner, it's been a lifesaver. Sefton council have run out of grit and the roads are treacherous. Are you away for Christmas?

Things at my mum's seem to be getting a little easier. My sister got home on Tuesday night in the end and they've got the car out so we may be able to get all the way up the hills. We leave tomorrow a.m

Have a wonderful Christmas everyone x

littlepea72 · 27/12/2010 13:14

Hi everyone

Hope you all had a good christmas & got to see your family. We went to the In-laws for christmas day, we were meant to go to my mums yesterday, but she came down with a really bad flu on Christmas morning, so I was banned from the house! Just stayed here yesterday & had a quiet one.

Im 20weeks now. Cant bend over as it hurts, still sick & cant walk up the stairs without being out of breath.....isnt it great that you never remember these things, I think I blocked them out! Wink

Fidelma what is going on with your water???

Hi to everyone else.....Grin

fidelma · 27/12/2010 13:31

Trying not to cry as I now have af ffs!

We are on a private water supply.People next door built a new house last year and probably did not put the pipes back properly as it has never frozen before. Everyone seems to think we need to wait for a thaw but if it doesnt thaw in the next 30 hours I dont think it will thaw for the forseeable future.

We can't wash, cant wash our hands, dishes or clothes. It is pretty SHITE. try feeding 6 people 3 times a day without being able to wash up!

I have just spent the last 2 hours at my friends house doing 3 loads of washing.

However we are going to Gleneagles again tonight for a swim and dinner with another family. My housekeeper is here cleaning so I must not be grumpy for long. However it comes over me and I feel mad!!!!

fidelma · 27/12/2010 20:43

DH fixed water. I am one very happy gal!

Love to all x

HappyTangerine · 28/12/2010 00:44

Back up North after a shockingly long journey home- 10.5 hours instead of the usual five. Traffic was awful. We stopped at one services on the M6 early evening and there were so, so many families-I counted over 60 under twos and hundreds more children. Joe was a little star. Bonus-by the time we actually got back, rain had started to wash away some of the snow and the scary icicles above my front door had started to melt, finally. Xmas Grin

littlepea great to see you! Sorry your mum has not been well. I've forgotten all my pregnancy symptoms but your post brought them all back!I am still very broody...

fidelma Yay for water! Your DH is a hero. Sending you lots of virtual chocolate to sooth you from the grumps of af.

littlepea72 · 28/12/2010 19:57

Fidelma could your DH come over here & help us??? We have no water, and dont know when we will have any. Thousands of pipes have broken, so most of NI has no water, and no warning Sad you dont have miss it!

fidelma · 29/12/2010 11:22

littlepea oh I have feeling so sorry for you all in ireland. I hope they fix it soon.It is hard going.Buy lots of water, get paper plates and cups.wear the same clthes as much as possible.sening you all my sympathy.

HT what a nightmare journey.Well done Joe for being a wee starGrin
