Oh no more mini eggs and mn.I must get a life dh still away.Home tomorrowGrin

Iggly · 16/01/2011 07:18

Morning ladies. I've given up hope on W ever sleeping through. Teeth and illness causing trouble again. I've been having driving lessons and not doing well - probably lack of sleep.

littlepea, how rude of people to comment on your chosen name! How are you getting on? I hope your DS gets better soon - glad you're able to treat him at home :)

HT I got the flu jab for myself so that if W gets it, I can pass him protection. It must be worrying to hear the local news. There's not been much down here but I think it's a matter of time now kids are back at school. William already has a cold after being fine over Xmas.

fidelma you should write to GLTC - maybe they'll give you a freebie Wink

scout glad to hear from you. That's a lot of weight to lose - how are your energy levels? How long is the treatment going to take?

I'm not up to much at the mo - just gritting teeth until the weather perks up. This time of year sucks!

Scout19075 · 17/01/2011 18:39

Just curious, how much milk/water/juice do your babies have in an average day? S's drink intake (primarily milk & water, with the odd juice) seems to have tripled.... Then again, so has his food intake.... LOL

HumphreysCorner · 18/01/2011 17:22

Hi all

Gosh, it is a week since I last posted Blush

littlepea-hope things are improving chez vous but how fab seeing DH's party. Grin

All OK here and Matthew wasn't bothered after his MMR-phew! He still won't walk despite taking two steps last week. We ran out of oil last week so our house is freezing. Matthew's room temperature is off the scale and he won't stay under his covers. We are all sleeping with lots of clothes on and hot water bottles.

Hope all OK!

Why is it that when you finally get dc to sleep after a hell of a night, you can't sleep yourself? The hours tick by, dh is due to go at 10am-10pm again tomorrow and I cannot bloody sleep. Joe not well at all, full of cold and 4 more teeth appeared yesterday morning.Fourteen teeth in total now. Poor little thing is in so much pain and has huge bags under his eyes.SadGod bless the huge park up the road, it is the only thing that cheers him up each day.

Iggly sending sympathy on the sleep and teething. Don't worry too much about the driving, I used to have one terrible lesson followed by a good one.

Scout Joe's intake has gone up massively as well. He has a tall beaker of water or weak squash with every meal and one on the go throughout the day plus unlimited breastfeeds. He's bf an awful lot this past week.

HC That good news about the MMR. Hope you get some heating soon.

Waves to fidelma littlepea ruby Mel and any lurkers

Hi all

Connor has been sleeping through (3 weeks now) ever since I put his head on a pillow ?

Life is full on as usual. I was thinking about people with their first child this week, your days are much longer than when you have other children at school or nursery.Infact I think I found 1 harder than 2,3 or 4 !iykwim it can be very boringHmmYou do need toddlers etc.

However I enjoy getting Connor to myself during the day because when the others are home they all want a turn (making it easier for me)

Sorry rabbit rabbit Wink

Passes the toffees round

HumphreysCorner · 21/01/2011 13:50

Well done Connor Grin You are so right that life with your first child is so much different to when you have older siblings. Days seemed long and empty really and I really cherish time alone with Matthew.

HT-did you get anymore sleep?

Matthew is walking when he feels like it. He is not too well and was sick twice yesterday aand is off his food. He seems to choke on nothing which makes him sick. He choked earlier but luckily nothing came up.

Hope everyone is OK. Oil should be coming either today or Monday. So, so cold

fidelma and HC I'd love to have two dcs or more. Entertaining one is hard work on your own, even the groups.

Nice one Connor, it must be so nice to all get a full nights sleep.

Glad you're getting some oil HC, it's turned really cold these past few days

Joe not so bad now, breathing better tonight. He was really wheezy last night and woujld only sleep upright on my chest so I'm on day 2 of 3hrs sleep each night.

I don't feel so good. Was fine until this afternoon but now feel sick, cold, have a roaring temperature and can't move from the sofa. I hope Joe doesn't wake up. Just in time for the weekend, joy.

CalypsoFramboise · 22/01/2011 14:02

Afternoon all!

HT I can't believe you're ill, you seem to have the hardest time, with Joe being so full of beans, I can imagine that its super tough to keep him stimulated. I hope that you feel much better already or at least DH is on hand. Get well fast!

HC Matthew still not sleeping all the way through, how do you manage to get your girls organised for school feeling so tired?! Bad luck about the oil, sounds awful :(

LittlePea haha about your DH's celebrity status! I hope that DS is completely fine now.

iggly driving in London is a special kind of hell no :) Good luck on future lessons!

Scout hope you're feeling ok?

Mel wheeeereee aaaareeee yoouuuu?

fidelma hi!

All fine here, although Annalise is just recovering from her 4th ear infection and GP and I wondering if glue ear is possibly the root of the issues; anyone have experience of this?
Obviously her distress and pain are the most annoying outcome but I found out last week that I have to submit my doctoral thesis to my supervisors by mid-August for submission to the faculty for mid-Sept so I can viva before mid-December otherwise I clock up some (rather costly) late-submission fees. YIKES! So every day spent taking care of A instead of at my desk makes me feel increasingly anxious. In fact Annalise usually sleeps 7pm-9am (!!) but I'm wide wake around 4:30am! ARGH.
Another outcome of faculty giving me a kick up the bum about ending this long drawn-out farce of a doctorate is DH and I have decided that its no good pretending that we can somehow have another child without me having to get pregnant and have an infant again (adoption was seriously discussed!) so we might as well dive in and try and plan to have one early next year onwards (to give me time to do any corrections post-viva). Scarily that means trying around April-May onwards and I really have mixed feelings, particuarly dread, heh. I really don't get how some of you love babies, it eludes me completely! Although now I know that its MUCH easier by 14-15months, and presumably continues (I'm blanking the terrible-twos aren't I :) ). I'm really worried that out of my group of mummy friends, around 9 of us, only 2 of us aren't giving birth to their second DC in the next few months and I imagine I'm going to be off work on maternity leave all alone whilst all my lovely friends are back working!

Anyway, ramble ramble, back to refurbishing a fireplace!
Have a super trooper weekend girls x

fidelma · 22/01/2011 21:12

Calypso great to hear from you.I an excited at your news do keep us posted Wink

HT I hope you are feeling better today. Is your dh around?

HC I hope the heating is working and that you are all cosy and warm.

Busy day with lots of activities for dc.

Going to THE most blingy childrens birthday party tomorrow.I wasn't going to take ds1 as it is an hours drive away and starts at 9.45am on a Sunday morning but sadly I cant resist a HAMLEYS ffs birthday party.(after I googled it and realise the expense)hangs head in shame.
The mother also invited toooo many children so is having to have 2 parties tomorrow for her little princessShock dont worry they only cost £1650 PER PARTY !!!!!!!! why not have 4!
(I hope she doesn't come on mn)

littlepea72 · 23/01/2011 09:44

How much Shock OMG.....have to ask, what do you buy as a birthday present! Want loads of details!!!!!

HappyTangerine · 23/01/2011 12:41

Shock Fidelma, I was gobsmacked at one party at that price-then I just reread and you say she is having two?! Please tell us all about it (in detail Wink)

Am feeling a bit better today, temp spiked at just below 40 last nightShock and dh was going to give it another hour then call doctor. I had a huge coughing fit, started skaing violently and was sick then sudenly -poof-it all went away. Still feeling rough today but nowhere near as bad as yesterday.

Dh and Joe at a party, I'm sitting at bome with tea and a large bar of Galaxy

HappyTangerine · 23/01/2011 12:42

home not bome! Smile

Iggly · 23/01/2011 13:08

Marking spot with bleary eyes, back later!

fidelma · 23/01/2011 21:18

What a palava we left the house at 8.10am to get there. (i am now insane it's offical)We were greeted outside Hamleys with 2 cheery party leaders, lots of stickers and balloons. the children went off with the leaders and the parents of the party princess (iykwim) So I don't really know what happened. The girls got very groovy black nails polished with white spots (which they will have to get off before school tomorrow)I think they had a look around the store, played with toys, made cool foil badges and ate a tea before a giant teddy bear came and sang happy birthday before all getting a party bag worth £20 Shock
Well I could do a better job for that kind of money. So OTTHmmbut it will make me laugh for years.(can't wait to see what she does next year!!!!!! The whole town is talking about it Blush I hope she enjoyed the 2nd party this afternoon! (think she had dimond earings in,the 6 year old!)
off to kiss my deprived children.

fidelma · 23/01/2011 21:19

HT get to bed X

HappyTangerine · 24/01/2011 21:56

Well I guess it had to happen. My little explorer was on a ride in the park and made a run for it away from me. He lost his balance, fell over and cut his lip on some rope, scraping some of the skin off as well. I know it's the first of many but it was so awful to see him bleeding and screaming. Soon started smiling again when two dogs came up to him but I was SO upset. Felt like rubbish mum for a while, especially as a) I felt so ill that I'd debated going out in the first place but he really need some exercise and b) he's already suffering so much with the teeth.Sad Perhaps I need to get some reins?

Anyway, have put it all in perspective now and don't feel so rubbish Smile. Busy day for us tomorrow,we are meeting with a priest first thing to discuss Joe's baptism and set a date. Then Joe is going on his first protest march! We're marching to stop the closure of 80% of our children's centres in the area.

Fidelma Shock at the parties- if people are willing to pay that kind of money, there is definately a new business potential in there somewhere.

Calypso Great to hear from you and how exciting to hear that you're going to be ttc again soon. Life with Joe is not always hard work thank goodness, it's mostly fun, very very active and I wouldn't change his personality for anything- it's just tough whe you're ill and have no family close by to help. My MIL can't physically pick him up these days and SIL still doesn't really want to know so it's all on us. We do ok thoughSmile. It all sounds very busy with your studies, good luck with the deadlines (and the fireplace renovation)!

Iggly Sending you and W sleepy vibes

waves to HC, littlepea and Scout

Scout19075 · 24/01/2011 22:32

Waves to everyone.

On my way to bed but marking my place for tomorrow.

Iggly · 25/01/2011 09:25

What a party fidelma! that is ridiculous...

calypso how do you have the time?! Doctorate, fireplace refurbishment?! We're struggling to decorate our hallway as William is too nosy Grin fingers crossed on your TTC! we're thinking about it again now and I've been on the October bus but no joy - although not really taking it seriously yet. I too am nervous as did struggle with W as a baby (he was adorable, the nights not so!). Now he's just wonderful. Still not sleeping through though Hmm

Oh HT poor you and poor Joe. We can only protect them so much and they still find a way. DH laughs at me when we go to the park and I follow William very closely!

littlepea I've been following you on FB and glad to hear you're well!

HC I'm with you on the poor sleeping! So tiring.

William has been so grumpy since his MMR and had a bad rash. Checking the leaflet it's a side effect so should stop soon. But his canines are breaking through now and he's been having terrible wind at night so I don't expect an improvement soon. He did start sleeping through a couple of months ago

He also sulks now when we leave for work in the morning - he goes straight to the nanny and won't look at me :( it's hard but I need a bit of work to keep me sane :(

On the plus side, I've been moved teams so away from the not so sympathetic boss. Hurrah Grin

Iggly · 25/01/2011 20:49

Oh fidelma meant to ask you - where did you get C's pillow from? Am thinking of getting W one. His cot is still on an angle due to reflux but I think it's time to move it down now and give a pillow instead.

littlepea72 · 26/01/2011 13:05

Just a quick one....what age are you putting the LO's into their own "big" beds? And are you all using a duvet???

Off to get DS's hair cut, you will hear the screaming accross the UK!!

Iggly · 26/01/2011 18:36

DS is still in his cot - for a few more months I think. He's in a sleepbag still!

fidelma · 26/01/2011 20:42

Iggly sadly a got a very expensive pillow from THE SPARE BED !!!!!!!!LOL
Connor sleeps in a sleepping bag,a knitted blanket and an ikea duvet.(bring on the heat police)

HT ahhh at the fall/crash so sad but it does happen and they recover quickly.

Scout how are you all doing? sending cake vibes your way Wink

Littlepea hope all is well with you and that the braxton hicks aren' too bad.

I have been watching one born every min on channel 4 love it,should of been a mw maybe in 15 years time (unless the grandchildren have come along )

Connor is really poorly with a high temp and a bad cold.I saw every hour more than once last night and now that I have been having more sleep, I never want less again.11 years of sleep deprovation is more than I can take .I am done with it (she wishes!)

HappyTangerine · 26/01/2011 22:00

Joe's lip is getting better now, he has moved onto other mischief. I need eyes at the back of my head until he's 18, I suspect - he's like bloody spiderman with his climbing. His main fascination indoors is plugs and sockets so I am getting him mid climb and dealing with the ensuing tantrums (of which there are many)to stop him electrocuting himself. Is this a boy thing? All the ones near the ground are covered up, it's the ones he can see in the kitchen that he keeps trying to climb up to get. Little monkey, he's so mischevous(but loveable and funny, although I am biasedSmile

Iggly - I got a toddler pillow from amazon, a bit flatter that the usual pillow.

littlepea Only recently have started using a cot bed duvet as Joe hated covers on him so it was fleecy suits over pjs. We're putting Joe in a toddler bed in about 6 weeks time, once we've finished redecorating his room. We're getting a Thomas the Tank bed with quite high sides. Hope you had a lovely birthday.

fidelma Poor Connor Sad Get well soon. It's awful when they have a cold, if only they could blow their own noses. You would make a fab midwife btw Grin

I rabbit on too much, sorry. Blush Bye for now.

littlepea72 · 27/01/2011 11:25

HT it is a boy thing! My DS was terrible. We moved to Canada when he was 19 months, and well before this, he was climbing the doorframes....right to the top! There is a photo of him in my facebook photos! 1 minute he was at the bottome, next there he was at the top. Also loved climbing into the washing machine...phoning the police (UK) and the fire service (Canada) lol....also the wee monster at 19 months...heathrow airport, the army flew us out 1st class, we left the 1st class lounge to line up with everyone in the line for the departure gate, he was still in his buggy as they took it at the plane....he slipped the belts!! stood up and before I knew what was happening....fell head first onto the ground! In front of the whole airline!!! Everyone looked at me like I pushed him! Faith is to lazy to do anything thank godness lol....just let it all happen, you cant stop them Wink

Will have to get a pillow etc....could do with her being into a bed before the baby, just dont know if we would be wise having her still in the cotbed....

Fidelma hope you got a good nights sleep!

Iggly Faith is still in her sleepbag also, with a blanket.

Hi to everyone else Grin
