Hello ladies, I need some advice/hand holding Xmas Sad

Someone please tell me the screaming, tantrummy, "no no no no no" to everything stage ends, someday. I know Joe is frustrated because he can't get the key thing to fit in his noisy fire engine by himself (and he does NOT want help), I know he's teething, I know he wants to walk everywhere but God it's a long day when he's like this. He slept great in Wales but since we're back, he is waking up lots-and wants to get up at 3.30am. Giving him an either/or choice helps a bit with the no no's (at leas but he's just so frustrated all the time. Is there something glaringly obvious I'm not doing to help him? I feel like a rubbish mum today.

littlepea I have been following the water problems on the news, it's crazy that it's going on so long. I hope you're one of the homes that gets supply back tomorrow.

Waves to fidelma and any lurkers

HumphreysCorner · 30/12/2010 19:07

Lordy, feel sorry for you without water. We lost ours one Christmas day and washed up with water out of the water butt-ew!

So Matthew got a pink train from the inlaws, apparently they ordered a blue one and pink arrived. They are reluctant to change it and I can't find anywhere online that supplies them so don't know where they got it from. After 7.5 years of pink I refuse to let M sit on a pink train. FIL said we were ungrateful and refused to speak to me or DH on Christmas Day.

So much fun eh?

Spending NYE at SIL's and PIL will be there and then spending NY Day at PIL-can't wait.........

Love to all!

fidelma · 30/12/2010 20:28

HC time to let him loose with the paint brush OOOOpppssss !

HT ah yes the joys. I think it lasts a lifetime! Sorry Wink distraction is my fav way out of no no no situations. "look at that big plane in the sky wow!" "come and help me do some dusting" (they love to dust beats me) etc etc. my big dc often say "look at the wheelie wheelie bird!" I don't know where that comes from either but it seems to workHmm

my dc have been a pain today.so they lost TV, computers and my iphone. that made for a long afternoon bring back the telly!

Littlepea how is it going?

fidelma · 30/12/2010 20:29

HC very blue paint!

fidelma · 31/12/2010 13:12

Happy New Year to You All.This is the 3rd year our babies have been with us 2009, 20010, 2011 Wow soon they will be driving LOL!

Scout19075 · 01/01/2011 00:34

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

CalypsoFramboise · 01/01/2011 16:20

Happy new year my lovely friends!

Quite a bit of catching up to do, haven't been on since before I left for Nairobi which was a really tiring but stimulating trip, as conferences usually are. Flight was delayed by 16hrs in Amsterdam on the way out so our free time to see baby elephants was curtailed, but will at some point post some nice photos on FB of the mini-safari we took where we glimpsed some rhinos, giraffes, antelope and zebras amongst other creatures in the park :). Annalise has been VERY clingy since I got back, not suprising but a bit overwhelming, literally can't even go for a wee without her trying to climb onto my lap.

Xmas was quite nice once we got over the train journey there (9hrs door to door, entertaining a bored hot baby on on a cramped 7hr train is a bit of an eye-opener, how some of you fly/drive longer trips; I'm completelyboggled!), but Annalise sort of enjoys her new tea-set and wheely-bug although what she enjoys more than anything is still playing with my necklaces; she's such a girl! Oh and she took her first solo steps on xmas day, although not much sign of walking since, just not fussed. Keeping fingers crossed its sooner rather than later as she has so many lovely dresses to wear :)

iggly Please don't concern yourself with the lunch date; its only if you have a spare slot and if that doesn't happen until May, October or next Xmas its really no problem, no offense taken! x

scout Are you feeling much better now?

fidelma I loved your workaround to the water situation, haha, swimming and eating elsewhere sounded like a small compensation for the massive inconvenience! I really can't imagine trying to cope with 4 DCs day after day, sounded super frustrating. Glad your DH managed to fix it!

littlepea I thought of you when I saw the news about NI water supply, an incredible situation! And yes, I'd also forgotten how difficult being pg is, not at all broody though :o Hugs and hope the water is back on very soon.

HT you are NEVER a rubbish mum, don't ever think that! You have such a bright, inquisitive, determined little boy, he sounds like he's always pushing his boundaries and early at achieving milestones, and you really are doing a good job. No advice as no experience, but these phases must pass - fidelma has some good ideas though. Good luck!

HC Doh about the train, honestly what are your PiL like!! Blue paint isn't a bad idea :)

Big kisses to all, lots of happiness for 2011!

littlepea72 · 02/01/2011 08:35

Hello Grin

Well we did get our water on agan, turns out they just turned it off! But I have woke up to find.....no water! I need to bath Faith as she is sick again, and so many sick-on clothes, thank goodness mum is near by with water lol

Calypso I would love to see your photos! It all sounded so great, I wish I could of been Envy

Scout how have you been??

HT Faith can be like Joe, they have just gotten to a stage were they want to do everything themselves but cant, it really winds them up. You need to have a bit of time out & do some counting (1-1000 can help lol). Its nothing about being/feeling like a bad mum, its just their age & it gets worse lol.....big hugs to you. Just remember, you cant change the way they are at the moment, but man its hard! Smile if you find something that works....pass it on to me please!

HC what the hell is it with your in-laws?? They sound very me me me.....I stand by you on the train, i really do.

Fidelma how is the sickness? Is your wee one better now???

Iggly how is everything with you???

Happy new year to you all....xxx

HumphreysCorner · 02/01/2011 12:58

Happy New Year ladies!

Can't believe are babies are going to be 2 this year, where has the time gone. Matthew still waking for a feed 3 times a night Have the most terrible sore eyes, well eyelids and round the eyes. My eyelids are swollen and red and itchy, don't know what to put on them as everything I have used is making it worse.

After a busy few days am chilling before the mad rush of school, swimming and Brownies starts.

Have a good day!

HC I hope your eyes get better.Connor goes through the night sometimes but more often than not he still gets a feed!!!Anyone eles still feeding?

DS1 still ill flu I think.Connor now also very poorly.dd2 complaining of a sore throat and head.I feel like putting a black cross on the door.Hopefully they will all be better in time for school on Thursday.WinkOh and dd1 has hurt her finger really badly Sad

HappyTangerine · 03/01/2011 01:57

A Belated Happy New Year to you all!

Calyspo fidelma and littlepea - Thanks for your kind words and tips. I have decided that more toddler groups are the way forward. Joe seems to be content to run all round the park so I think I need to just let him go for it and burn off all his energy. He's o good at for sitting still so I might cut some music group in favour of straight playgroups.

littlepea I can't believe you still have no water, what th ne hell is going on? Thank God for your mum.Get well soon Faith.

Calyspo Yay for Annelise's walking!GrinYour conference sounded so fab, my dull academic publishing ones never gave us time for things like that!Xmas Envy

Hello Scout How are you?

HC Oww for the eye. Have you tried Brolene eye ointment?(not the liquid) It works well for me.

fidelma Sending get well vibes to your dcs-you must be exhausted! I am still bfeeding on demand,4 to 5 times during the day and at least twice at night. Joe is teething and has a v sore throat and swollen glands so is feeding lots at the moment. He unlatched weirdly the other day and gave me a milk bleb. Bloody hell, I forgot how much they hurt!

Are any of you able to get hold of Ashton & Parsons teething powders? I know there is a problem with the manufacturer.Existing stocks must be like gold dust, I'm trying all over the place.

Igglystuffedfullofturkey · 03/01/2011 07:32

Marking my spot with a Happy New Year! Will say proper hellos later today. Back to work on wednesday. booooooooooooooooo I don't want to go.

fidelma · 03/01/2011 15:21

3 very poorly childrenSad
d1 has gone off with friends ice skating the other 3 are lying around watching TV.I am rotating Calpol and nurophen. The fire is on and I have lit the Christmas candles so not much ele to do but eat chocolate and drink tea(when I am not nursing a sick child)

I feel slightly under the weather, am keeping everything crossed that I don't get it as everyone eles needs me and I am keeping my Mum awaySadAt least it hasn't spoiled Christmas. What with the weather and flu I think we should move Christmas to June.Infact I think we will have a June Christmas dinner.

Connor has been taking a few steps unaided since before Christmas day but he isn't really off yet,he preffers crawling at the moment.

Connor has been feeding all the time while he is poorly but at least that comforts him.

Waves to you all HCHTIGGLYRUBYSCOUTLITTLEPEA and any lurkers x

and Calypso

littlepea72 · 03/01/2011 18:47

Filedma I hope you stay ok, big hugs to you

Its snowing here!! But we do have water Grin

fidelma · 03/01/2011 22:32

dd2 and ds1 are very poorly tonight.I was hoping that after 4 days for ds1 that he would be a bit better but I would say that he is worse tonight.DD2 is so misarable and couhing away.Connor ddn't seem so bad when he went to bed, perhaps he is getting some antibodies from me.dd1 has stayed at our friends house where she has been having fun today avoiding the sick house.Sledging, building a den, then ice skating and swimming oh to be 10Wink

I on the other hand feel like Florance Nightingale doing the rounds to my dc.

Luckily I am feeling strong, that is all I wish for over the next 5 days.

School is looking unlikely at the moment.

Littlpea Have a bath on me Wink

HappyTangerine · 04/01/2011 02:38

fidelma Buckets of cwtches (Welsh hugsSmile) and get well vibes to your dd2 and ds1.Fingers crossed Conor is on the mend. Remember you are superwomanWink. Look after yourself x

littlepea Yay for water, at last! I bet that feels brilliant. How is Faith now?

Dh has come down with the lergy so I am dosing him up with everything I can. It's his first day back at work tomorrow- er make that today - and he's feeling a bit down about leaving us Sad. Well meaning folk keep telling me to keep Joe away from toddler groups because he "might" catch flu but surely he's just as likely to catch it from a) his dad and b) when we're out and about shopping? So much conflicting advice. Tesco Pharmacy counter today was nuts, they had 4 huge queues of people buying the flu vaccine.

littlepea72 · 05/01/2011 08:45

HT my DH goes on Saturday, after having him home for 3 weeks, its horrible Sad He wont be back for another 5-6 weeks. This tends to make my DS go off balance for a while, with ASD he cant take change, and I think Faith will really feel it this time. It must be really hard for my DH too, and to always come back seeing such a change in my figure! Does your DH work long hours?
I think that children will catch an illness no-matter if you keep them away or not, its all mostly air-born. I would just take him to the groups, unless everyone suddenly starts dropping with the flu, then take him out.

Fidelma how is everyone in your household now??? Any better??

Iggly thinking about you returning to work today Smile hope it goes well.

Today is a big day for us. We are going to test drive a new car, either buying the Ford s-max or the Galaxy. Will miss our Kuga, but it doesnt fit 3 car seats, so we need more room. Then its off to the hospital for my 20 wk scan. They forgot to book me in for one (im 22 weeks today) and booked me into one that is almost 3 hours drive away, they did this as my DH wouldnt be able to be here for one they had which is in a weeks time at our hospital. Dont care....just hope all is well & we might be able to find out the sex....will be on later with any news I have [grin}

Hi to everyone else!!!!

xxx

fidelma · 05/01/2011 09:01

wow Littlepea 22 weeks I can't imagen being 22 weeks pregnant. You are on the other side yipeee.Good luck with the car.

Connor seems Ok the other 2 are still in bed, not that well but we are getting through it. thanks

I have done my back in.Very painful when I am in bedSad

oh well another home day for me.

HT thanks for the hugs{{{{bouncers}}}}

Iggly · 05/01/2011 19:14

Hi ladies! First day back was ok actually - was doing panel assessment for job applicants so quite easy really. Sad to leave W though -'despite having to do most of the stuff around the house with DH getting D&V, I've enjoyed it. W was very unsettled tonight - probably because it's been a couple of weeks since I've left him :(

littlepea, fingers crossed that you get to find out at the scan!

fidelma, I hope everyone gets better and sorry to hear about your back.

HT I know what you mean about the flu. I'm tempted to get the jab myself so W gets protection that way. I suspect he's had the flu or a nasty virus already. We've got an inhaler for him as he now gets wheezy with every cough/cold :( I'm not stopping him going to groups but have asked the nanny to wash his hands regularly. If swine flu kicks off here then I will keep him at home. I hope your DH feels better soon.

scout come back and say hello! How are you? I know you were feeling a bit sad for not being around your folks so how's things?

fidelma · 05/01/2011 19:40

I second, that Scout we miss you Xxxxxx

fidelma · 06/01/2011 09:13

dd1 has gone to school.

Got up
dressed
made her lunch
packed her bag
brought me a cup of tea

She is 10 almost 11

only 10 years to go (gosh that sounds long!)

Anyway I will miss her today as she is such a good help.

dd2 on sofa still feeling rubbish Sad
ds1 on another sofa not yet 100%
Connor in bed knocking out the ZZzzzzzzz

Oh well stuck in so need to do some domestic chores.

We are moving out in about 12 weeks as we are completley rebuilding our house and adding on more rooms. We will be out for at least 8 months.GrinHmm

Connor now chatting to himself.

Quick shower and off to get him.

HumphreysCorner · 06/01/2011 10:09

Morning ladies

fidelma-more stress for you, where will you live for 8 months? Hope your children get better soon.

Iggly-glad work went OK, hope you are OK too.

The girls went back to school and I have taken the outside Christmas lights down so we are now deco free until next December. It is very cold and I am on my diet so can't even stuff food down to warm up. Celery for me......

Scout-where are you?

Waves to everyone else!

littlepea72 · 06/01/2011 16:42

Just a quick one Grin

Its a boy, thought it was, as its just the same pregnancy as it was with DS. My DH put on FB the name we are going to call him...we have had some nasty comments on it! Its Gabriel, and I know not many people like it, but its what we like. Oh well.....

Bought our car too, we ended up getting a Ford Galaxy, get it tomorrow.

Iggly glad work was ok Smile

Fidelma big hugs xx
