Red I hope it is going OK with the kitchen works. Will no doubt be picking your brains re extensions before too long (hopefully)

Cece yes get over to HotMamas and see if you can whip us into shape as we don't seem to be scared enough of Sazz any more

CrispyTheCrisp · 15/06/2010 22:04

Not quite sure what we will do as yet - either move both girls to your/Dizz's room , either as bunks or singles and then move study to DD1's room and have DD2's room spare with sofabed, or just put one bed in DD2's room for the time being . Just gives us options for now and a spare bed

cyteen glad DS is ok, and too cute with his sufferance! I remember getting DD1's slide at 20 months and she launched herself off the top of it twice. Luckily she bounced too.

DD2 can now say DD1's name. Cuches is now relegated to the history of the baby book

hotterpotter · 15/06/2010 22:14

Oh there must be a lot of that about, DS has just started saying Tabby instead of Betty

CrispyTheCrisp · 15/06/2010 22:15

Sorry Hots, but i did do a little about Thor doing a Frank Spencer impression

hotterpotter · 15/06/2010 22:21

You away

Actually when DD was tiny she used to pull a real Frank Spencer face - all pursed lips, and we used to say 'ooo betty' to her, so it's quite nice that Thor has given her the same nickname. I will just have to keep saying it if he doesn't

hotterpotter · 15/06/2010 22:37

Right bed time for me as have to be up at 6am to go to work See you all later, and sweet dreams

longwayfromhome · 16/06/2010 00:07

hello,

LOTI the only time I came across beauty students was when I was helping out at a life support course.

It was fab, they got the beauty students to come in and give us (the medical students) really fab injuries (I had a great chest wound and loads of blood) and then people came round and tried to save my life all morning.

How cool!

Then, they paid us for our time. Probably the best job ever.

DS says "mee-ah" for DD, and today's new word was star. It's nice, we're getting a new word most days at the moment. Not many verbs, do they come later?

RedLentil · 16/06/2010 00:13

Lovely to hear from you, longway. The verbs do come later. It's like they learn the major landmarks and then add the connecting bits.

My nephew fabulously links nouns with his own filler material: 'Dara digadidiga car a daddy.' 'Mommy digadigadiga dinner.'

Evun, as dd2 calls herself, is struggling with the fact that the plumber shares a surname with her daddy. So she says 'Hello Timobine [Tim O'Brien] whenever she meets him.

She is oppressively clingy at the moment which is a bit hard to take when the house is about to be confuzzled and I've taken on too much work.

The kitchen goes down on Thursday. Well, at least we'll be making progress then.

RedLentil · 16/06/2010 00:14

first name, not surname. I need to sleep.

longwayfromhome · 16/06/2010 01:52

Red - thanks. Interestingly, early word were spanish, now getting quite a lot in english. Have just reported your post as I thought that you posted your full name. I may have been overly cautious here as in fact I think in fact what you have done is reveal the full name of your plumber. Apologies as I suspect that this is not classified information.

hotterpotter · 16/06/2010 06:32

lwfh I have just nearly snorted shreddies all over my computer screen at your last post

springaporesling · 16/06/2010 06:48

Cyteen glad to hear DS ok after his tumble - very brave. DS has taken to saying 'Oh Dear' or 'Oops a daisy' if he falls down. He did this in the supermarket yesterday when he almost managed to pull down the stand of batteries - the assistant was in hysterics (luckily) as he turned to me and said 'Oh dear'.

Red DS has lots of 'fillers' too! At the moment I am trying to convince him that vehicles (generally) drive and don't walk or run as I keep hearing 'wheel bus walking' 'car running'. All buses are 'wheel bus' and all boats are 'row row boat' at the moment too. He really is a chatterbox - I don't know where he gets it from as both DH and I are I would say fairly quiet. I also made the mistake of telling him that DH was in Mumbai. So this morning it was 'Daddy Mumbai' 'No Mummy bye' .

Loti I say go for it too. Especially the open evening. Colleges are very keen to fill all their spaces so I'm sure you can work it out so that it doesn't have too much of an impact on the DDs. Your early relationship with your Mum sounds wonderful. Mine was a teacher so theoretically should have been around for me in the holidays and evenings but it wasn't like that at all .

luckoftheirish · 16/06/2010 07:43

Morning ladies,

thanks for all your lovely advice .. have a meeting with dd1's new school next thursday so will find out when she starts etc so can make a more informed decision .. other potential option may be to switch to part time evening which would be 2 evenings a week so may consider that!

cyteen your poor ds so glad he is ok and is sounding cuter every day

crispy/hots dd2 has also learned her sister's name.. which is too cute for words except for the fact that when dd1 is at nursery i get her calling her no stop til she returns .. then they fight like cat and dog ..

red sounds like you have too much on your plate as always! need some downtime too!!

spring.. thanks for your kind words re my mum, she was the best every, pity she decided to disown me 9 years ago!!!

LadyGaGardenia · 16/06/2010 07:43

Oh cyteen that is the sweetest image of ds bravely reporting he was ok!

Lots of course go for it go for it go for it. Wise advice from - Sibh? Buckets? - re chat to someone who's already done it, the admin people might put you in touch with someone, even via email. I did a year's masters when ds1 was about 7 and it was great. Much more flexible than work and brilliant for ds1 (I was always hauling him in) to have the experience of being in and out of a university environment (not that I was hoping he'd start doing equations or anything just that he knows what college is like on the inside).

Also a very very good model for your wee ones - would you not want your dd to follow her heart into a career she would love? What are the hours like - unlikely to be 9 hours a day? And how useful will it be to you afterwards? And could it be a flexible job? Are you excited at the thought?

Love hearing how the other babies talk. DS says oopsadaisy and uh-oh when something goes wrong and then helpa? helpa? because normally when he spills something etc I say Oh will I help you there? It's really sweet. He has invented his own vocative which is quite impressive, he says Daddy-ah! Mummy-ah! when addressing us or calling for us, and "O bed!" when he is (rarely) relieved to see it. He has also started saying Sorry, we were delaying on the steps out of school the other day and he flashed a charming smile at a woman waiting to get through and said "Sorry man!" He also randomly says "hello man! bye bye man!" to passing strangers.

LadyGaGardenia · 16/06/2010 07:46

Oh longway I was laughing at your post .

cyteen · 16/06/2010 09:14

LadyG If you've ever listened to The Fall, you will know why I'm chuckling at 'Mummy-ah! Daddy-ah!' I like 'O bed', sounds similar to my nightly groan of 'ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, bed'.

LadyGaGardenia · 16/06/2010 09:41

Do you mean "I'm a Mummy-ah"?

springaporesling · 16/06/2010 09:44

LG DS has picked up the Singaporean habit of calling every adult 'auntie' or 'uncle'. Fortunately he hasn't started saying 'lah' after everything yet . I also get 'Mummy helap' or 'mummy fizz (fix?) it'.

LadyGaGardenia · 16/06/2010 09:49

we get Mummy fixit too. And if I am not fast enough Daddy-ah! Daddy-ah! Daddy fixit!

My faves atm are yes pim and no nanks.

LadyGaGardenia · 16/06/2010 09:50

I have only just got

Aw, thanks VG ikwym, I went all funny and wet-eyed and spent ages grinning at the pink 'New baby!' cards in WH Smiths

Cousin in law is really lovely and deserves all the happiness life can bring, so I'm well chuffed. Plus there's a delicious squidgy newborn in the family - cuddles ahoy

dizzydixies · 16/06/2010 17:21

CrispyTheCrisp · 16/06/2010 18:19

Evening all

Lovely afternoon here having had a picnic and wandering round Westonbirt with a good friend . Girls had a fab time and we actually managed some adult conversation . However we were ignoring them so engrossed that i looked up from my cuppa at the outside cafe and DD1 was squatting down for a wee on the grass. Infront of eveyone sat outside the cafe . Cue fast running

LOL Longway @ loving being a casualty and reporting plumbers details to MNHQ

Loving Mumbai, no Mummy bye!

Congrats to cyteencousin - when do you get to go for a sniff?

Glad things are keeping you busy dizz
