LadyGaGardenia · 14/06/2010 22:23

Sorry cross posted there

TwilightSurfer · 14/06/2010 22:25

VG has wise words and exactly the route we've chosen with Reese's mark (and that's WITH doctor's blessing).

hotterpotter · 14/06/2010 22:31

Oops my cousin had a rather large port wine stain on one side of her face. I think she was quite self conscious about it but did not have laser treatment till she was an adult (she's 43 now, don't think the treatment was available when we were little) It has done a pretty good job, not perfect but no-one who doesn't know her would really notice anymore whereas she did used to get stared at. I'm sure there will be some compromise between newborn and adulthood like VG says it'll be best to get her under their care, even if they don't start treating her straight away.

DH currently swearing at the computer will be glad when I have a separate downstairs room I can shut him in

CrispyTheCrisp · 14/06/2010 22:35

I agree with Lady, get your nice GP referral and then once you are under the dermatologist you will have direct access to advice/appointments.
When i fought tooth and nail for a dermatologists appointment for DD1's eczema it was mainly so i had a direct port of call if i was worried/things flared up. If you choose, after discussing it with them, not to go for treatment straight away you will always be able to go straigh to the experts if you have any wobbles/Q's/change of heart etc

longwayfromhome · 14/06/2010 22:49

yeah - and DS is due a general anaesthetic in October for his undescended testis. All fine, but still makes me wibble a bit. Thinking of you.

TwilightSurfer · 14/06/2010 23:15

I am so FKG MAD!!! I've ruined an entire pot of spaghetti with chili powder. Not even I can tolerate it. It's fresh too so time will only make it hotter. ARRGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!

longwayfromhome · 14/06/2010 23:55

real lemonade and lemon and ginger cordial to drink with it ... and pretend it was a chilli!

Much sympathy, I hate it when I do this.

TwilightSurfer · 15/06/2010 00:02

Longway oddly enough I AM drinking lemonade.

Folks I've mildewed the favorite can't be replaced Elmo doll! It needed cleaning so I hand washed it and put it out in the sun this morning only find it mildew smelling this evening. I can not win today!!!!!

TwilightSurfer · 15/06/2010 00:57

Phoned Build-A-Bear. Have been given instructions on removing Elmo's voice box. Doll is spinning in the washer now. If all goes well we will make a trip to Build-A-Bear tomorrow for a "restuffing" and stitches. The cute little creature still had it's heart. DD1 & I put the heart in him 3...or was it 4 years ago. Okay! Now I'm crying!!!

TwilightSurfer · 15/06/2010 03:06

Elmo is CLEAN!

luckoftheirish · 15/06/2010 07:53

Morning ladies ..

ts glad r is on the mend and that elmo is now clean .. i have a similar issue with iggle piggle from in the night garden!! he is filthly but as he also has a voice box i am a bit as to how to clean him!! on my to do list today..

oops dd2 has a birth mark on her hand that is quite visible but docs said they wouldn't consider lasering it til she was 2 {god not long now!!} happy to report that it has faded alot and now really is only prominent when her little hand is cold.. people do comment on it tho with a "oh what that on her hand?" does make me mad tho as at the end of the day its only a birth mark and doesn't need commenting iykwim!

no1 {hugs}..

cece so glad you enjoyed your hockey am green with ..

well done on your houses hots, now you have dipped your toe in there will be no stopping you!!

crispy well done on the 50/50 love twat approach ..

i got a letter from a college yest about a full time course i applied to and then thought i wouldn't go to.. i have been invited to an open day .. issue i have is that it would start when dd1 starts school and i want to be there for her when she starts big school.. child care issues and obviously this whole "h" issue...

whilst the course would lead me to a whole new avenue career wise.. no income for a year/sorting the girls/dealing with h arghhhh decisions decisions!!!

waves to everyone xxx

LadyGaGardenia · 15/06/2010 09:42

TS great to hear that Elmo has successfully undergone surgery and emergency anti-mildew procedures. I hope he recovers swiftly.

LOTI interesting news on your college course... I don't think I have it in me to suggest to someone that they don't do something they're interested in doing. The practical and logistical details generally shake down when you need them to. What is the course?

Beautiful sunny day here, I am meant to be working while ds2's looky-after-lady has taken him off out to a nice farm & cafe and I am bitterly .

TwilightSurfer · 15/06/2010 12:19

Lucky the course could give you exactly what you need.

VG what are you working on?

luckoftheirish · 15/06/2010 12:28

LG the course is in beauty theraphy..so far right from what i have ever done.. i have been in recruitment for 14 years and don't want to do sales/get grief/work all the hours god sends anymore...

always want to put the kiddies first iykwim in that if dd1 phasing in at big school takes weeks, i want to be there to drop off/pick up when needs be?? not really sure i am making any sense here.. my mam was always there for me when i was little {not sure what happened there!} and i loved it.. i could do any before/after school clubs i wanted, she helped with my homework etc... not saying i couldn't do this with my dds just trying to work out the best way forward for happy dds and a happy mummy!! em maybe winning the lottery would be the way forward

CrispyTheCrisp · 15/06/2010 15:28

Oh bless little Elmo and Iggle Piggle. No toys here have voice boxes on, or if they did, DH would operate immediately

LOTI, you could go along and see what it is all about and then if not right can the idea and think of something else, or if you are still really positive about it they may let you defer entry a year until things are a bit more settled?

Chasing up jobs stuff here, doing paperwork and have been for a run. I fear the overexcitement may kill me . Think i will go order DD2 a bed......

GladioliBuckets · 15/06/2010 17:55

LOTI Was going to say do it, you might meet some hot young stud but then you said beauty therapy so guessing young studs may not be on the menu. Anyway, could be good for you to get out and meet some new ladyfriends, boost your confidence, start treating DH as the lodger and get yourself set up for some convenient part time work later. If your DH meant what he said about preferring the pre-motherhood you, he should be only only too keen to help out more in this case. Re school phase-in, does your current CM do the schoolrun there? A CM could deal with all that, I know what you mean about missing out but if it takes only 1 full time year to get the skills for a satisfying part time career, I say go for it.

Job news here potentially! Singing BF who I've been working for and her WAHM DH who are both thinking about taking me on as admin on a self-employed basis. This would be dream job in paradise as I can get the bus there easily and they love having Kurt pootling about! Although if there were enough regular hours I might use a CM as he could use some more toddler-centric activity.

RedLentil · 15/06/2010 19:35

That's brilliant Buckets. It sounds perfect.

Twitches on the job-or at least leads-front too, which is why I've been busy and not posting. Even Ms Kitsch'n hasn't heard from me in the last 24 hours I think. Oh, hang on she has.

Our lovely plumber is in the room knocking holes in the wall. Kitchen being moved as we speak.

Arnica-style best wishes for Mr Crispy. Ouch.

Loti-most FE courses now are designed to be parent-friendly. Do go along to the night and ask about things like daily course starting times, choosing modules that fit with your time commitments, the location of placements etc. If you get in early with your info it helps a lot (especially with the placement side of things). Also, ask to speak to a parent who has done the course this year. There will be one mouthy wise one who'll be happy to give tips, mark my words.

Lots of courses don't start until mid-September. When does this one get going (often different to the start date which only signals 'registration, faffing and fluff' week)

Love to all else too. I really have to run. But special mentions for No1, Sambo and the lovely Steaky. Not posting but not retired from the Aug08 gang either.

CaptainCaveman · 15/06/2010 19:52

exciting indeed loti, red speaks some wise words there

crispy wow you let your hair down today eh? I've been out for a 15 min bike ride (with 2.5 stone ds1 on the back), plus done my now-in-its-4th-day stomach workout. Got around 10 weeks to ditch the jellybelly or no bikini for me!

hi everyone

Oh and i spoke too soon, O learnt to say 'no' today at the same time as shaking his head!

CrispyTheCrisp · 15/06/2010 19:58

Hey cece, come and join us on Hotmamas (although sounds like you may be doing better than us )

Fab news on the job Buckets, you will make a brilliant PA x 2

Red, glad the plumber hasn't knocked the wireless out just yet. Hope all is going smoothly and continues that way.......

Not ordered bed yet, but did go to the garden centre and bought plants & repotted my hanging baskets which was supposed to be done the 1st weekend in June. Having said that, my tardiness meant that all the hanging basket plants were half price. Bargaintastic

TwilightSurfer · 15/06/2010 20:10

sat down to read and reese painted the dining room wall with yogurt.

CrispyTheCrisp · 15/06/2010 20:23

Tsk TS you should have your eyes firmly ON your chidren 24/7. Has no-one ever told you this is a requirement of proper parenting? Or you could just say your are letting her develop her artistic flair without intervention

CrispyTheCrisp · 15/06/2010 21:14

Bunk beds purchased

Oh, and by joining their FB page I got 10% off. More bargaintastic loveliness

GladioliBuckets · 15/06/2010 21:16

Crispy Thanks for reminding me, must nip to B&Q tmrw to get some more ready planted hanging baskets to kill this summer.

Mission for Wednesday is to tidy and clean the living room. Next week I may do the kitchen (I'm so not joking, was v chuffed with myself for doing the bathroom lats month.)

Kids are still impressed with my knitting, all 3 are in love with my 'pebble baby' beanbag toy. Tried to follow a pattern for it but failed so it looks like a Fairisle Babapapa. Next time I will just follow my own nose and note down what I did for future reference. Current project is an emo needle bag in a black, purple and blue stripe.

cyteen · 15/06/2010 21:37

Good news on the work-life-balance-type front loti, Buckets and RedLennie. Loti, I second everything that Buckets said about your course; although I obviously understand your depth of feeling about wanting to be there for your girls, I think a year's investment in something that could put you in a much stronger/happier position will be a good investment for them also. But as a first step, just go along and ask questions to your heart's content

Busy day again so please excuse me for reading and running up to bed - took DS swimming this morning, then drove to a friend's in the afternoon for toddler fun in her massive garden. Was all delightful apart from DS falling off the top of a slide, again He seems fine and it certainly didn't stop him having several thousand more goes, but I still feel a bit sick...it was a proper full body plant. Thank god it was onto grass.

He is so cute though - I was hugging him afterwards as he was streaming with tears and crying (more shock than anything, I think), I said 'are you ok?' and he bravely sniffed out a teeny little 'yeah'.

hotterpotter · 15/06/2010 21:52

Oh bless your brave boy cyteen sounds like no lasting damage was done and you have had a lovely day

Buckets our house is having its first proper clean and tidy for aaaages have taken a car full of crap useful donations to the local charity shop and will be taking the rest of my sister's stuff to her new flat after it has been languishing in the loft for two years or so. This will create loads of space for us to dump more of our things up there before someone comes to value the house next week. Eek!

Sazz those bunk beds are v cute. Will you be putting the DDs in them straight away as bunk beds? I like the idea of that but there would be fights over the top bunk and probably broken skulls...

Loti go for it!
