Evenin

Odd day here, very, very tired. Probably due to going to sleep at 1am, being woken at 3am by DD2 who woke DD1 who came in with me and then up at 6.30

Not really functioned properly all day and my chances of fresh air walking to preschool were scuppered by rain . Went to the garden centre and the aquarium, had a lovely soak in the bath and read my book and that was about it . Cbeebies now on and counting down to bedtime.
Please chase me off here if am on any later than 10.

Yay dizz, you won't need rescue remedy. Have you worked out a plan for how to juggle it with you being away for part of it?

pert hope all the offers work out ok. Reject the first one would be my advice and meet in the middle

Enjoy your singing buckets, should we don earplugs

dizzydixies · 10/06/2010 19:08

Oops - DH adored the cakes! thank you

am going along to my friends house tonight (100yrds!!) for wine and strategies

Sazz - I expect you in bed by 10:15 and btw - D has the honking nappies upset stomach so am blaming you

CrispyTheCrisp · 10/06/2010 19:32

I am thinking i need to go earlier Dizz. I now have a stonking headache as DD2 screamed for a full 15 mins before bed for not being allowed to snatch DD1's book/not wanting to clean teeth/not wanting a particular story/not wanting to sleep . She is cutting her incisors at the mo and i know they are painful (and maybe to blame for nappies?) so i have dosed her up with Nurofen but it has just about finished me off. No, i lie, it has finished me off

I too am dosed with nurofen, Jacket spud is in the oven and making it to the end of LLL will be an achievement

Have a brilliant strategy evening, i'm sure the wine will keep the off the wall ideas flowing

MrsMiamla · 10/06/2010 21:46

evening all

oopsandbabycoconut · 10/06/2010 21:55

Helloooooo MrsM

GladioliBuckets · 10/06/2010 22:13

Anyone else still lacking canines at the mo?

Choir was v uplifting, despite my friend having a total mental block teaching the first song but she recovered well after a quick listen to the cd! Poor thing did the same thing at another choir last night and was terrified of doing it again. She is so talented, teaches all the different parts by ear off the top of her head, I think she's allowed to cock up a few times. I'm now singing bass, which is erm interesting for a soprano but fewer words to learn so that's all good.

Good work on the job Dizzy, will be a great showcase of your talents. BTW your photography is great.

TwilightSurfer · 10/06/2010 22:16

Hello!!! All went well. Absolutely exhausted. Reese was up at 7a and it's 5p...and still no nap. She's confined to her play yard because she keeps beating on her sister like a pro from the WWF.

CrispyTheCrisp · 10/06/2010 22:35

D'oh, i think i meant she is cutting canines Buckets

I know i am a bit late, but i am off to bed now. Nighty night. xxx

TwilightSurfer · 10/06/2010 23:02

Funny thing about "hiding" things on your credit card, eventually you see the charges.

dizzydixies · 10/06/2010 23:35

aaahh too much wine with lovely LOVELY friend who is an illustrator is is lovely - she has come up with loads of kitsch ideas to show case my cakes and frankly my head is bursting with ideas and inspiration - bless her and her wine!

Oops - your cakes are fabulous and according to above lovely friend are from now on to be known as 'hidden delight cakes' grin]

Sazz - hope neurofen and wine helping

TS - mwah

Buckets 0 thank you, am just pointing and clicking the new camera, at some point am going to read the instructions
the choir sounds lovely, please tell me loads about it.

right am going as am sure this is a pissed post and you'll all be laughing at me while I cringe in the morning - tomorrow brings menu planning and pricing which could be a challange after tonight!!

MWAH to you all

dizzydixies · 10/06/2010 23:40

oh and incase you're all interested

my vanilla cakes are now to be known as pink flamingos and will have kissing flamingos on their card and pink feathers

hummingbird cakes retain their name so we can use hummingbird in the design along side a pineapple and big phallic bananas!

she's trying to convince me to call the Red Velvet cakes Carmen's knickers but I'm not quite there yet

double choc muffins are now Choco Choco Cha Chas

carrot cakes are not Orange Tops and Lollipops with real carrots/dill and sqirly lollies

I can't remember the rest but before the wine too over she was talking about a logo similar to the pirelli girl but sitting on top of a cupcake instead of a tyre/car - we then digressed to Carmen Miranda with a cupcake on her head so knew it was time to leave

right enough of my drivel

TwilightSurfer · 10/06/2010 23:51

lol! sounds like your business is SEXY CAKES!! knickers & cha chas & tops with lollipops!! LOL! Rest well DizzyCakes

dizzydixies · 10/06/2010 23:55

rude cakes I think she called it - calling up images of the cadbury's caramel bunny/ Jessica Rabbit and Nigella lawson lol

night x

TwilightSurfer · 11/06/2010 00:49

LOL! Made me google!! I'd never seen the Cadbury's Carmel Bunny before.

TwilightSurfer · 11/06/2010 00:54

Well Reese isn't teething but she's been a grouch for several days on and off. I thought she would be fine after her 1hr late nap. NOPE! DH & DD1 pissed her off by leaving to go fishing with her. She threw her pacey across the drive way, turn herself into the downdog position and wailed for all of the country to hear. I've since carried her back to her pack-n-play where she quite honest seems content to snuggle with her blanket. Guess she might be going through a growth spurt. It would be nice to give her some Ibuprofen but our last bottle was recalled. Suppose I should add that to my next grocery list.

Back to the books.....I hate finances!!!! Where's that winning lottery ticket!

oopsandbabycoconut · 11/06/2010 09:37

Okay who was handing out dodgy tummies yesterday?? I seem to have caught something from somewhere - the most horrible cramps from hell during the night and this morning. DH gone to work but prepared to some home at any moment if I need to crash out with DD2 upstairs. MIL has already said get her bottles so I can recover but I gently explained that I can still feed her as tummy bugs are not passed throught milk!

Dizzy - cakey evening sounds great and very productive.

We have all our teeth here just waiting on the 2 year old molars.

alittlebitshy · 11/06/2010 09:41

oops at mil and the bottles. again.

cyteen · 11/06/2010 11:00

oops your MIL really is clueless a one, isn't she? How have they taken to DD2, given their resistance to the idea that anyone might want more than one child?

Hope you feel better soon

oopsandbabycoconut · 11/06/2010 11:07

Bearing in mind that DD2 has gained just shy of 1lb in the first 2 weeks - I would have thought BF was proving to be better than bottles? But obviously not! They are okay about her but can't wait for her to grow up and be fun

Haven't eaten or drunk anything but DH collecting DD in 20mins so I will eat then so if I'm sick she won't get worried as she did last time.

RedLentil · 11/06/2010 12:51

Lots of lovely ideas from your evening Dizz. Might the Pirelli one be a leetle bit sexist though? Might be a consideration if you want the litfest / university conference-type business that is out there.

I haven't been able to get the image of a gnome on a cupcake out of my head since you mentioned it the other week.

I forgot to say thanks for Buckets' great logo ideas for me too. I'm not very good at visual ideas so it's great to have a bit of back-up ...

And back to cupcakes, could you theme the names for the event, or have a blackboard with different jokes as the day goes on:

Buy now, when they're gone, they're Maud Gonne.

'A cupcake named Desire'

Woolf down a cupcake

Jane's Eclair

Brighton Rock Buns

Madame Blueberry Muffins.

You could have a comp. to get the people there to pick a literary cake name - have to go on your mailing list to enter?

I'm ripping up blue acrylic carpet today which is very soothing.

Trying to distract myself from not being there for my beloved aunt-in-law's funeral. Dh has gone over on our behalf.

RedLentil · 11/06/2010 12:57

Oops- sorry you're not feeling great. Not good to hear the in-laws are complicating things.

TwilightSurfer · 11/06/2010 13:19

Irish friends, my neighbor is traveling to Ireland next week. Sooooooo if you "hear" a very American southern speaking family while you are out and about PLEASE ASK if they KNOW ME!!! He already thinks I know everyone in our town. To have someone across the pond ask if he's my neighbor....well it would absolutely make both our days.

Oops sorry about the tummy. Peppermint tea?

dizzydixies · 11/06/2010 13:47

oh frigging hell - who let me near the wine r the laptop last night ffs

Oops - so sorry to hear you're not feeling great, fingers crossed it passes V quickly. If it helps at all I had horrific food poisoning when feeding D and it passed V quickly (was eating steak pie a few hours later) and could feed no bother.

Red - don't worry about the sexist logo, it was a that point we knew we'd had far too many glasses and left it all alone!! the inspiration came from a logo on the website kitsch.co.uk and we got a bit silly from there!

some great ideas (as usual) thank you keep them coming! My friend has some great kitsch ideas - we're going to photo cupcakes through the wee one's doll house/on different trays/plates etc we both have - in weird and wonferful places and I have an idea for something a bit different but need to spend sometime this weekend seeing if it is a possibility - watch this space

Loti - hope you're doing ok and the world cup gives you a chance to breath

sazz - hope DH home and in fine fettle

hello all else and apologies again for drivel last night

poppysocks · 11/06/2010 13:48

ROFL at the cakes red. You and my mother would get on SO well (and I mean that in the nicest possible way - also a literary type - I grew up with a menagerie of pets named after characters from obscure Victorian novels - Bathsheba the guineapig etc. ).

So pleased to hear the cakes are gaining momentum dizzy. Don't hesitate to shout if I can help with any taste-testing .

STONKING PMT today. Cried when DH had to put the phone down on me earlier when his meeting started even though I had literally nothing to say. Girls tired, grumpy and driving me nuts but have persuaded them both to sleep for the mo. And breath.

Did I mention that DH is cycling to France next week? He's doing it in aid of the charity who were so brilliant for his brother and has been training like crazy all year. Anyway, I'm sooo proud of him but it does leave me to get the DDs to Paris to meet him under the Eiffel Tower this time next week. ILs won't be there though so not only will I have to grapple them, buggy, bags and DH's stuff through the airport on this side but on the other side too, plus get them from their to ILs house (other side of Paris), let myself into their house and then get the girls into the centre of the City the next day (buggy+metro - not looking good). I'm not stressing about it as I know I'll muddle through but to say I'm not looking forward to it is an understatement. Snap me out of this someone....

Sorry to hear about the dicky tummies oops. Hope the dry toast is staying where it should.

poppysocks · 11/06/2010 13:50

Bollocks. Spoke too soon. Both up again. Precisely 39 minutes for that nap.

Hi dizzy.
