Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

No one?? okay then I'll go snuffle my second daughter myself Lordy I have a second daughter I don't think I ever expected a real baby out of it all!

Here is what happened.........

Putting DD1 to bed last night I thought I had a fluid leak and was contracting rndomly every 5-7 minutes. We popped to the hospital at 9.30ish and waters fine, contractiond stopped so went home. At 1.30ish contractions started suddenly 2 mins apart and couldn't breathe through them, tens was crap, Woke DH andwe got FIL back we left home and got the 40 min journey to hospital in 24 mins! logged into system at 2.05 asked for epidural -man appeared 3 mis later ti site it snd at 2.55, he moved my legs onto the bed before connecting the meds - I looked at the MW, bit DH at the next contraction, she asked if I needed to push, I said no thanks I'llwait for the epidural to work, they didn't tell me it wasn't connected!! I had an almighty urge to push and 2 pushes later DD was born still mostly in her bag of water. We both went into a bit of shock but I was up and in the bath an hour later and upstairs by 5. So1 hr 10 from start to finish plus 24 mins in the car! She is perfect and DD1 loves her 'mine baby sister'.

Sheis feeding okay but very congested due to speedy delivery so feeds take some coaxing.

Thank you all for your kind words and Dizzy thank you for spreading the news. I hope it wasn't too difficult for you.

CrispyTheCrisp · 27/05/2010 18:45

Ooh lovely oops and so glad all went smoothly and no tears etc from quick labour . LOL @ 'I bit DH'

Has DD1 met DD2 yet?

oopsandbabycoconut · 27/05/2010 18:45

x-post Crispy, Miamla and everyone else.

poppysocks · 27/05/2010 18:46

Congratulations oops! What fabby news. Particularly gorgeous middle name for your her (forgot to add that final bit to my fb congrats and as you may not be 100% sure a. who I am and b. that that is DD1#s name, you may have thought it an insult at DD2's first name (it's not).

Worry not albs, I'm not either .

Seem to have missed lots recently but loving all your blogging plans dizzy. You do write so brilliantly here and you also bake so fantastically that it's a marriage made in heaven . As an aside, did you know that the cupcake place in St As is owned by the lady who bakes for Harbour House? And blimey at the weather! Saw that photo on FB. We had no rain at all yesterday! While driving up to Dundee today it was a perfect sunny day here and aplocalypically dark on the other side of the bridge - 8 degrees colder too . Congrats on surviving the ILs. Did you find L's pressie. If not you'll find a soggy parcel on the back doorstep .

I've with you on ta buckets . Doubt you'll be logging on en route to Corfu but hope it's fab .

Can't help I'm afraid on the DC4 debate FHLH as we're stopping at 2 and although that's driven by DH I'm increasingly convinced by it too (and couldn't be more shocked if I tried about that either).

So sorry I can't remember anything else... Ooh, there was a possible house move hp.... Garden looked particularly fab.

Ooh and v. of your hol TS, but also v. phew re: Reese's great escape.

Hello everyone else.

poppysocks · 27/05/2010 18:56

Serious X-post there... HELLOOOOO oops. So pleased it all went well (and you made it to the hospital in time!). All so lovely, lovely, lovely.

Have news of my own but not even mildly exciting, partic. in face of a whole new life. Back later to share.

CrispyTheCrisp · 27/05/2010 19:39

Got my P45 in the post today . Fuckers have underpaid me by £600 . Feel another fight coming on

dizzydixies · 27/05/2010 19:54

Poppy - we did indeed get the present, many thanks - the hat has been a HUGE hit (I thought I'd sent a photo - sorry ) and the crafts will be kept for rainy day - tomorrow then!

dizzydixies · 27/05/2010 19:56

isn't a baby delivered still in their sac of waters considered an extremely lucky omen in some cultures or am I making things ups again

CrispyTheCrisp · 27/05/2010 19:59

I think you are right dizz

Off for a bit of property porn and chicken noodle soup

dizzydixies · 27/05/2010 20:04

am off to get the hyper one (DD1) undressed and into bed - once we wipe the disco foam out of her hair

poppysocks · 27/05/2010 20:59

Sorry, have been off eating gorgeous nibbles prepared by DH (and drinking bubbly) to celebrate my new job! Took all your good, helpful and lovely advice and managed to negotiate myself a new job. Great career development and, hopefully, as good as I can get in terms of family-work balance. The 2.5 long days I currently do plus another one done at my leisure . Should be an interesting challenge and have been promised decent admin support to cover the gap between my 0.8 and the desired 1.0FTE. Think the last point may be the stickiest to manage, but all good at the mo.... So...thank you ladies for your thoughts and experience. It's helped me to feel happy and confident about this opportunity and while I know it could be tricky to begin with to fit it all in, partic. with DH's new job and lots of travel for him, but it's an opportunity I'd regret not taking now it's been offered and a good new challenge for me.

So sorry it's coincided with your P45 crispy. Feckers. And feckers x 2 for the missing dosh.

Glad the hat was received in the spirit it was given dizzy. Ridiculous but fun we thought.

CrispyTheCrisp · 27/05/2010 21:17

Hurrah poppy, i am SO pleased for you and hope it all works out with your admin support - do you get any input on choice of person?

Am only a lot teensy bit

dizzydixies · 27/05/2010 21:22

poppy thats brilliant news well done

poppysocks · 27/05/2010 21:32

Thank you, thank you! . Re: admin support, at present it would sit within a senior admin post that is occupied by a really fab girl I currently work with a fair bit. However, it's likely that she will move into my current assistant's role if my current assistant gets my job (following? ), so who knows. Won't move over to the new role until my current job is filled so, realistically it'll be the autumn but that gives me a bit more time to scared get my head around it.

pertelote · 27/05/2010 21:42

Oh hurrah! What a lovely day to catch up on - congratulations Poppy, v. glad there's good news for someone in the biz at the mo.

And Crispy not exactly your best of days, I know, but at least you are shot of the feckers.

And VG on toppest form, LOL at all the kitsch'n's....

But clearly no-one's day can quite match Oops' Congratulations, what wonderful news - so glad it all went well, do I read you correctly that you are already home? What a beautiful name too. So lovely

poppysocks · 27/05/2010 21:57

Thanks pert. One of the reasons to go for it was knowing how little + there is around in our world and the need to grab it while I can. How are things with you at the mo? Hope all ok.

hotterpotter · 27/05/2010 22:12

Hurrah Poppy for an exciting new job

TwilightSurfer · 27/05/2010 23:03

Poppy that is awesome!! I don't believe it could have happened to a better lady!

Sazzles SERIOUSLY do THEY know who they are messing with.

Oops I laughed out so loud DH looked over at me like . Your birth story is splendid. I am envious!

ILs here. All seems good. Reese didn't nap so early to be for her. She's not going to complain. I think my cheeks are a bit . If they aren't they sure do feel .

Will check back later to see if Oops needs company during a NIGHT FEED.

RedLentil · 27/05/2010 23:18

I do believe the news about Oopsababy didn't sink in until you mentioned a night feed TS.

What a lovely, lovely thing to have a new person in our merry band.

Poppy, fab too to have you forging forward. You will make the new job work beautifully and it's great to see a chance grabbed.

Crispy (is the name permanent?), I can only tiocfaidh ár lá. Go google. Stop sniggering LG though maybe I laugh alone --at- my own jokes.

In other news Lady ,Eamon 'The Voice' Keane has resigned from Newstalk. Whither will we follow him?

And where did you drive to today, Cyteen?

RedLentil · 27/05/2010 23:19

Sheesh at appearance of last email. Am in the middle of picking a new kitchen with dh so a bit distracted.

dizzydixies · 27/05/2010 23:24

ooohhhh new kitchen, tres exciting!!

new baby, new kitchen, new licence, new job and Hotter has yet to announce that her gorgeous DS will from now on be known as Thor - could this thread get any better?!?!!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
