don't anybody worry. i woke up.

CrispyTheCrisp · 07/06/2010 20:11

LOL ts, we would be rubbish in an emergency . Hope you are feeling a bit better now

LOL at LongwayLad and his Amen. DD2 has just learnt 'yes' but comes out as 'yap' with a firm nod

Had a lovely morning at toddler group but there were about 20 children. We are more used to about 8 . Then went for a swim and practiced some of my new moves. Felt like a bit of a prat in the pool though . DD1 had a fab lesson and then played with friends. Home tired but happy

Twatting insurers haven't phoned back today . The brokers chased them and they were definitely giving us an answer by the end of the day (as they were on Friday ). Gah

Oh and re non-negotiables, i think the Land Rover is it! Although i was allowed a say in which one we got and made him sell his old army one so i guess there is always a bit of negotiation . And the other one is that DH never wants to move from here. Who knows though, especially if we suddenly become miwwwionnaires

No further news on my stalkery FB message

CaptainCaveman · 07/06/2010 21:40

reD i thought you were instructing me to buy a seat...as in something to sit on, not a make of car! I'm easily fooled!

Just to clarify....I am a shallow person who accepts any old friends request on fb . I can honestly say I like everyone I am friends with, and agreed to/requested to be friends as I was curious to know what they were up to now in life. Privacy settings to friends only. Funnily enough, you lot are always the ones I get notified about updates to your statuses!

Givens with me and dh....I really don't think we have any, like many of you I was 21 when I met dh, he was 26 going on 18 so we also grew up together. We now have a happy working arrangement that whoever cooks, the other one cleans up after but thats about it! how exciting! That and the fact that dh won't can't clean up cat crap as it makes him barf

Am feeling a bit better today. Had a good chat with my lovely boss who came up with good suggestions to lessen my workload (and was convincingly concerned about me). I am very lucky in that my immediate work colleagues are very lovely and we get on well together, so I know I'll be well looked after. Am also going to submit myself to a 'work survival course'.....

That's good news Cavey, making a plan is a good idea, could you do one to help keep homelife from overwhelming too? Still recommending everyone takes up knitting for sanity reasons though. Actually there's science behind that too, according to some ladies at my Crafty Coffee club, crafting is good for the mind.

TS We had a mass fart-in at pilates tonight! We had to roll back and forth and it just worked like bellows on half the class, including me! Then we all got the giggles and couldn't get up again.

Finally went to investigate a new softplay toddler group today and bumped into 2 good friends, 3 acuqaintances and another couple of mutual friends whom I had always hoped to know better. Kurt did some great climbing/clambering considering he is scared of heights. We had so much fun I was 5mins late collecting the big two from school.

TwilightSurfer · 07/06/2010 22:11

PMSL!

TwilightSurfer · 07/06/2010 22:13

Buckets you were actually ROFLYAO!!

CaptainCaveman · 07/06/2010 22:17

I have seen a card with something akin to this on...group of ladies in a yoga class, the instructor says "now relax" and the cartoon is of 10 women with a "pfft" balloon coming out of their arse

buckets I'm shit at knitting, I keep making the stitches too tight

dh has just announced "hmm, I appear to have lost my force" (he is playing lego star wars on the Wii). It's a laugh a minute in our house

hotterpotter · 08/06/2010 10:18

cece I am an uptight knitter too

buckets at your mass trump-in

TS hope you are feeling rested today

Sazz I hope the insurers add on a few quid for being slack yesterday

Hello everyone else, wherever you are...

Still raining here so the tent which I put back up in the garden to dry is wetter than it was when I packed it Off to my friend's for coffee now, back later

dizzydixies · 08/06/2010 11:00

oh Cece, I'm so pleased about your work situation, wonderful news and fingers crossed your boss follows through. tis shit working with a bunch of gits so am delighted that you don't

I met DH when we were 19/20 and we were best mates through uni - I think it was only when we realised that nobody else would have us/put up with us that we got together

Buckets - great news re pilates/soft play

Raining here, two eldest deposited at farm yesterday and apparently L is already through all her clean clothes [not surprised emotion] but can't really get out and about with D as its torrential. DH working at 12pm so I think the most I'll do is a very skint run to the shop for bread - roll on payday [meep] Consultant for hip tomorrow and DH laughing at me thinking I'm going to be treated as 'staff' at the private hosp and they'll probably insist I pay before they speak to me

vanilla cupcakes today I think - for research purposes of course, mostly they'll go to DH's work or the cafe.

LadyGardenia · 08/06/2010 11:14

LOL oops are you looking for some of the troops to entertain you? Hope dd2 is fully recovered from her wee scare now.

dizzy the news about the pony is ingly amazing. That is truly fab for the girls - I know exactly what you mean about not being able to top it... but actually I think that kind of thing occurs less to children than we think it does iyswim.

hots I fear we may have put away a slightly damp tent due to lashing rain all yesterday so I am praying for no mould next time we shake it out

Misty and rainy this morning but got in a good long dog walk after school drop-off. Elderflowers are out so wondering whether have energy to make cordial.

dizzydixies · 08/06/2010 11:30

VG - pony has not yet appeared so we have not mentioned it to the girls

GladioliBuckets · 08/06/2010 12:29

Cavey WRONG attitude Missus! Don't let low self-esteem stop you. It's not about about doing perfect knitting - you only need to impress your kids, it's about switching off your everyday brain and doing something relaxing for a while. I personally hate handknitted clothes, even on kids, so am sticking to clothes for toys, bags and have been commissioned to make 'a character' for DD. Anyway, could be any art/craft you fancy but knitting and crochet is quite portable and you can do it in front of the tv. You exercise your brain a different way, get a result, maybe even a good laugh at said result but that little nugget of satisfaction is therapy right there.

As I do love a bit of event management, I've decided to have a ladies-only birthday party on the last day of term. Will also be a fundraiser so friend will be bring Usbourne books and I might make it a bring and buy or maybe just a buy. DSis is giving me some nice bags to sell and thought I'd do some Dizzycakes and have been growing some little chili plants. Any more ideas?

springaporesling · 08/06/2010 12:31

Mmm LG elderflower cordial - don't imagine I'll find too many around here though.

Took DS to see Gruffalo this afternoon and after a few dodgy minutes at the beginning when I thought we might have to leave as he was crying he sat and watched the whole thing and even joined in towards the end roaring and dancing! He and his 2 little friends were brilliant. Needless to say we have just had a re-run for his bedtime story 'gufflo'

Sorry must dash am off to the gym as didn't make it last week as DH in Dubai and he's off to Mumbai on Sunday till Thursday so don't suppose I'll make it then either

dizzydixies · 08/06/2010 13:58

springapore - am glad he enjoyed it! its coming to a theatre near here but the tickets are £10 each so am not sure if I can wangle the £40 Your DH always gets to go to fab places, I know its work but still we have family in Dubai and would love to visit apart from the pennies and the blue skin that doesn't cope with sunshine!!

VG - we are torrential here today and the dog just went when I went to take her for a walk! am glad you think that about the pony, my cousins kids (when they have them) will have everything that money can buy and sometimes I'm a bit that ours don't have the same options. Apparnetly L is through all her clean clothes already The lady has said they can collect Shannon the Pony tomorrow night so I now have to decide if they get to stay or have to come home for school on Thurs morning.

Buckets - your party sounds lovely, will have a think about some money raising ideas

CrispyTheCrisp · 08/06/2010 14:26

Afternoon . Where's the bloody sunshine? At least the crap weather means Sainsbo's are offering sun cream at half price . I am sitting here with goose bumps and a cup-a-soup

Took the girls to the CM, went to the gym and then Sainsbos and got home at 1.45pm . I didn't shop last week as we were due to go away at the weekend, so 2 weeks shopping took me 1.5hrs to get round

Hots the insurers obv don't see it the same as you or me and have not called again. Broker called to follow up and he is fuming so rang the investigations company and the woman is not working today . Am just going to forget about it now until they can be bothered to ring us

Cece i am with dizz on being glad you have supportive work colleagues/boss. A plan is good and with some deep breaths i am sure you will come through, stronger than before

dizz your girls have the best loving family with loads of cake home comforts AND they get to have the buzz of excitement going to see Auntie for a blast of fun. Best of both worlds

spring brilliant about DS loving Gruffalo. I 'm really not sure what DD2 would think, but DD1 would love it so i may just take her along for now

Glads how about some elderflower champagne, home made lemonade, phoenix cards (always brilliant i find)?

springaporesling · 08/06/2010 14:44

Dizzy surprised to say our tickets were less than that and usually visiting acts are a license to print money!

Also would like to ditto what Crispy said your girls have the most fabulous parents and all the love in the world (no disrespect to your family) - tis worth a lot more than material things. Also in a few years time when DNs have discovered boys are fed up of the pony you don't have to worry about selling it/looking after it on your own.

Crispy sorry to hear no news on the insurance still.

hotterpotter · 08/06/2010 14:54

Still raining here too , am wondering now at the wisdom of putting the tent back up to dry it off. At this rate it is going to be in the garden for a week...

Oh Dizzy don't worry, it's really not about money it's about love and your kids get plenty of that Plus you always seem to be doing something or other with them, mine are positively neglected in comparison It's always easy to see people who have more than you, and more gutting I guess if it's your own family, but at least you get to share in their good fortune, and like Springy says you won't be left to muck out the pony once they get bored of it

I always wanted a pony (still do really) but i never got one, even to share, and think I have turned out OK (those of you who have met me, shush, don't spoil my argument with the truth ) but what I really wanted was a dad who was not some weird, angry, well twat really . DO NOT underestimate the gift which is a happy home

dizzydixies · 08/06/2010 15:05

thanks guys, my cousins are the ones with the really flash holidays/cars/first class & private everything but their dad can only be bothered with them now they're grown up and can talk business to them http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jim_McColl meet my uncle Jim

springapore, the local theatre normally does a preview night for £5 per ticket but this is in the one in St Andrews so all tickets are £10 and for me to take DD2 and DD3 only I'm £30 before we've started

Crispy - what a PITA re the car fingers crossed fora speedy solution

the fecking back have charged us £35 and duely knocked us over the overdraft limit which means we'll be charged again next month - I can't see why we've been feckign charged though so will have to speak to someone in sodding person

GladioliBuckets · 08/06/2010 16:27

Ah yes Dizzy, can imagine he was quite hard to pin down for a fatherly chat.

Have made duck leg casserole in the slow cooker, serving the meat with rice and pretending the sauce is gravy. Fingers crossed this will be acceptable to DD. Also made a roast med veg dip which is crying out to be eaten with the feta in the fridge but I will have to keep my greedy fingers off it til tomorrow lunchtime.

CaptainCaveman · 08/06/2010 16:57

dizzy I bet he's a knob though

Weather shite here too. Dry at the moment but plenty of rain fallen already and plenty more to fall . Bah.
