Hi Singapore!

I'd like to edit my last post. I am HOME not HOPE.

Caught up too!

Now that we are casting DH's I will have to put on my thinking cap. I do believe that HP did a good job casting her DH. For some reason that's EXACTLY who I'd imagine would father Thor.

Lucky I think KNOB was in the water on Saturday. DH drank it too. I believe the lady at one drive thru heard me tell him he was being a total ass. I could tell she was . Very funny really in hindsight.

Dizzy I'm just guessing but from your myriad of posts (similar to my style) you sound like you are getting your "groove" back.

I think I've had too much chocolate. I am wide awake and need to be settling down for the night.

springaporesling · 31/05/2010 02:54

Hi TS and welcome home. Hope DH has apologised

Pert also meant to say the 'new' house looks lovely. Any news on the viewings of yours?

dizzydixies · 31/05/2010 08:06

I have a big bottom.

I sound like an elephant (to be fair I was blowing my nose)

I've been headbutted, bitten, smacked & slobbered on with kisses.

Culprit was thankfully not DH but, you van probably guess, DD2 & D respectively!!

Morning all. Singapore I knew who I wanted to play you & couldn't remember her name then forgot to google it will get right on it as soon as organised today!!

hotterpotter · 31/05/2010 09:24

Morning all

Dizzy sounds like you will be ready for a rest in a minute! Rough love is the best kind though

TS glad you got home safely from your holiday without murdering DH

Springa how nice of your M&D! How many years are you now, does it justify a BIG treat?

Thor and Betty (DD's new nickname!) are going crazy running around yelling so better go and bash heads together referee

Oh just wanted to say was at Sazz's description of DH as Johnny Depp from Chocolat. Funny how people's perceptions can be so different...

dizzydixies · 31/05/2010 10:08

singapore - Helen Beckingsdale - that was her, I could only remember the Helen bit and not her surname but have googled all the Helen's now and have her

sun is shining and DH is off today although our schools aren't even though its a public holiday EVERYWHERE but here never mind, onwards and upwards with the empire building !!

alittlebitshy · 31/05/2010 10:24

morning.

hmm - thought there was meant to be some sunshine today . my washing had better pretend to be dry when i take it in this evening.

having a and moment re out newish lodgers. they are a newly married couple (he is Zambian and not able to work yet so financially dependent on her - and she seems to be not giving him any free cash.), and she seems to have a , er, more forceful character than we knew. everything she suggested and agreed to before they moved in seems to have been decided (by her) to be not how she wants things, and yesterday, when we were bbqing i wasn't sure if she had noticed so v politely said that she might not want to put her washing on the line yet (eau de bbq) and she bit my head off saying she has to dry it somewhere. bearing in mind they have the use of a second room (we normally have 2 separate lodgers but that room is their payment for her dh working for the church as he can't take cash yet (see above), i didn't think i deserved that. i think it is all going to end in tears this week as as she seems to be moving the goal posts, and frankly we are financially struggling enough as it is without her playing silly buggers so unless it gets sorted, they will need to bid us goodbye and we can look again [sigh] for 2 separate conventional lodgers. i know i am not making much sense - but i hope you get the vague drift. her dh (working for my dh) has said that he is depressed by being controlled/poor and he also says she never loses an argument which it sounds like she is planning to keep as her record with us

dizzydixies · 31/05/2010 10:29

oh ALBS thats all too much effort and tiptoeing about when its in your own home - no need at all

cyteen · 31/05/2010 11:05

TIme for some unChristian straight talk, methinks.

dizzydixies · 31/05/2010 11:06

well said cyteen!

longwayfromhome · 31/05/2010 11:24

oh albs - how hard. I know that the visa isn't the issue here but we looked at visas for DH (or should I say Colonel Hannibal Smith of the A team) and if you are in the UK on a spouse visa you should be able to work. I know its all a bit complex. DH needed a visa to get married in the UK, even though we weren't going to live there and he doesn't usually need one to visit.

dizzydixies · 31/05/2010 11:26

ROFL at hannibal - how very topical considering the movie is due out this summer

oopsandbabycoconut · 31/05/2010 11:39

Morning ladies

Will try catch up in a while but see visitors coming down the path !

RedLentil · 31/05/2010 11:39

Mil, playing with Maud, has just said 'Ooh, you're very good at sequencing aren't you?' [wtf]

dizzydixies · 31/05/2010 11:40

oops - we'll be here when you've got a minute

Red - was that MIL or Maud that said it ?!

dizzydixies · 31/05/2010 11:49

am in serious bad books, been fannyingabout empire building whilst DH mowed lawns and didn't realise time, L gets collected at 11:45 and dh just ran off to get her fortunately they're ALWAYS late out but think I'd better go and do something physically constructive rather than mincing about on here

springaporesling · 31/05/2010 12:18

Dizzy no stay! Thanks for the suggestion.

Albs sorry to hear of lodger dilemma does sound as though you might be better off without.

HP will be 7 years this year so not really a big one. Tbh I'm a bit unsure about it. M&D love DS to bits but because they only get to see him when we're in the UK or they're here or on skype they don't really 'know' him or his 'routine'. Will have to draw up some seriously long lists and probably have some friends on call 'just in case'. Don't know if I'm being silly about it. Also haven't had a night away from DS yet!

alittlebitshy · 31/05/2010 13:06

lwfh. I think he is still on his fiance visa because they cocked up with the paperwork for the spouse one (ie sent form in unsigned, without marriage cert and without pics (makes me wonder what exactly they did manage to send ).

they've come home and i have scurried away to hid in the study. am a great big wuss.

dh has said that in the past it was me being a woman/hormonal/territorial/stoppy moo that has been the issue with some of our lodgers but he tells me this is so not me. i have come to hate confrontation - hence i feel all jittery . The last 2 lodgers we had were male. actually both older and married - one was working here while his wife was still in nz with the intention of them setting up home over here long term (though he ended up going home as she found it hard settling even when she was over on a short stay, sad), the other was a week nights only chappie - as he went home to the family oop north at the weekends. ideal!

sorry - moan over. for now .

once ds is awake form his nape we are going en famille for a swim. i am a crap swimmer (and have to have my glasses on so i can see where i am going lol). had to have a de forestation this morning too so i don't scare away the natives in the pool.

TwilightSurfer · 31/05/2010 13:07

Helen is known as Kate here in the States. Totally agree that she would be great to play Singapore. HP my vision of John is that of him in Serendipity which quite honestly matches Sazzles image of Johnny in Chocolat so I think the view we have of your DH is universal.

ALBS do you now believe people (even lodgers) are brought into your life for a reason? She might there to learn a thing or two from you.

Astrology report stated that I need to step back from my current problem to gain perspective. Not sure which problem though???

Beach Vacation Review:
Excellent trip down. Stopped half way for the night. No kiddie complaints really. House was beautiful. Perfect location of beach/pool. Didn't stress over foods (just spent a fortune on dining out). Weather was INCREDIBLE. The last night there the whole vacation was almost completely ruined. The night before the 10 hour drive home the restaurant three houses over hired a band. Sound check started at 9:30pm and it all ended at 1:55am. We had no intention of going but COULD NOT GET AWAY FROM IT. The house SHOOK. The light fixtures RATTLED TO THE BEAT. Every thump of the drum or stroke of the guitar was FELT INSIDE OUR HOUSE. IT WAS ABSOLUTE HORRIBLE!!! I called the rental office when the band DIDN'T STOP by midnight. She was like, "oh so sorry if they don't stop by 2a you could call the sherrif." I had three hours sleep that night and they were not really restful hours. No one slept actually. The rental office opened at 9am and I WAS THERE WITH MY COMPLAINT. Probably nothing has been or will ever be done about it but they got to hear me talk VERY LOUDLY which at least helped me if only slightly. I really pissed me off that I'd spent a week to gain full relaxation and the island idiots took it all away before I left.

story over.

dizzydixies · 31/05/2010 13:27

feck, Helen is OFCOURSE Kate - am idiot, which is why it took me so long to remember who it was

back later, baking

TwilightSurfer · 31/05/2010 13:37

LOL!Dizzy

Oh HP I do not mean John Cusack from Serendipity.

Can't figure out DH's character. He's kind of John Wayne type character or a Clint Eastwood...strong silent type.

TwilightSurfer · 31/05/2010 13:40

Reese has taken up singing. Her newest song is "I Love You You Love Me Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" (repeat a thousand times)

springaporesling · 31/05/2010 13:48

Maybe ds and Reese would make a good match especially if she's a fan of the wheels on the bus! My mum dad and grandma were treated to a rendition on skype earlier complete with actions

TwilightSurfer · 31/05/2010 13:58

Singapore I'll teach her the lyrics later and let you know.

CrispyTheCrisp · 31/05/2010 14:22

TS sorry to hear all your relaxation was ruined in one night . Glad to hear you got ranty though

I think your DH should be played by Russell Crowe

spring my advice would be don't overthink the childcare thing. By all means sketch out an outline day - wake up/naps/bath/story/bed etc and an idea of foods you know he likes, but other than that, trust your parents and it matters not whether things happen exactly the same. This weekend DH (who does know their routine) ended up with two breakfasts, no lunch, late nap & dinner, and you know what, the girls are just fine.
I remember hearing someone (when our DC's were c.6 months) saying they had left 7 pages of instructions for their parents for a night away. I felt a bit sorry for the parents tbh. You and DH go and enjoy yourselves and DS and his grandparents will have a fine old time figuring stuff out between them . Apologies if that sounds preachy

dizz have you got any lemon curd muffins?

albs I would give it a week or so and if it is still awkward then i would give notice. You cannot live your life walking on eggshells, so don't try and force it as you will only be unhappy

TwilightSurfer · 31/05/2010 15:07

Dizzy here's a link to one of my favorite local bakeries. Bread Basket

The Black Magic Cake is PURE HEAVEN!!!
