I hope for your DH and my pupils sake its an easy year Most of my students who have been to revision clinic this week have had trouble remembering the diference between CF and Huntington's in the inherited diseaes section, and if its AQA there is ALWAYS a question about one or the other!

WHY WONT THIS CHILD? SLEEP

I am sooooo over this. I'm tred. I need a shower. I have to get ready for school and I'm pissed off with this 4 hour argument every evening.

Poor dh is tring to revise and he hasn't actually eaten today. At all. Am so stressed I might pop.

missjackson · 20/05/2010 22:07

Poor tree. I hear you on the sleep thing. Hopefully she will sleep soon and you can take a moment...

lol at bar of chic, that's really made me chuckle . What a sweetie your DP is dog.

10 years, wow pat, and 8 years for you dog - at you getting it wrong, I did the same thing and thought we had been together for 4 years, but no, apparently it is only 2.5 . 3 years ago I came here on a riding weekend with my sister, a completely random choice. DH was still with ex-gf but very flirty. Naughty. Afterwards he texted me saying we should meet up, but I said thanks but no thanks, I didn't need someone else's man... When they split up a few months later, I was up for some free riding fun and thought it was nothing more, but then I went off to south pacific and he emailed every single day... and the rest is history .

He is out of the shower now so I had better stop typing and say hello

Tree, had a big discussion with dh earlier about whether he could make it to the chemists before they close to by some oral rehydration sachets. The end result was - no.

Ds is doing better holding down water than ds2. She is having about 2 ounces every 1-2 hours plus breastfeeds every 3-4. Ds2 hasn't managed to keep so much as a mouthful down all day, but is sleeping peacefully now. Fingers crossed he will be feeling a lot better in the morning.

I feel for you with the non-sleeping dd. Dd went through that for a couple of months and it was living hell. I honestly think my short term memory is gone for good as a result. We are back to letting her sleep in the swing while we watch tv now, just so that I get some child free time. Otherwise I think I'd be dribbling in the corner by now.

I guess consistency is the key. We are planning to start being more consistent with her pre-bed routine as soon as she's better. (The plan was to start as soon as we got back from the festy, but obviously that's all gone pear shaped now.)

We had to go through this with ds2 as well, as he was all over the place with his sleeping after we spent the summer touring the West Coast of Ireland when he was about this age. Its hard work, but the rewards are so worth it. We used to read a story, sing his sleepy songs then put him in his cot and sit next to him quietly and keep laying him back down and giving him a kiss saying, "time to go to sleep now". He used to play, grizzle and try all sorts to keep himself awake, but eventually got the idea and the length of time it took got shorter and shorter. Once he was happy to lie down we started moving the chair across the room until we could just sit in the doorway and eventually just out the door. Whole thing took a couple of months, but he's been really good at going to bed ever since.

Never had the problems with ds2 as he shared with ds1 when he left our room and just sort of copied what he did.

Am dreading doing it all again with dd, but know I have to if things are going to improve round here. I am totally exhausted so it must be a million times worse with you doing night shifts.

moosemama · 20/05/2010 22:17

Dh and I have been together 23 years now (since his 16 birthday party) and married for 18.

We are positively ancient compared to Dog!

Just typed loads and lost it grrr.

Tree - you are amazing. Not sure how you do it. Hope she sleeps soon.

Moose - love that photo.

I met DH on a blind date 10 years ago. Knew that day I would marry him. Love at first sight. Love hearing all these how people met tales.

Tea - noooo no the death by chicken pox boredom! Mine had that this time last year, 3 weeks stuck in the house. Piriton was great. Worst was over in 7 days with mine, and good to get it out of the way.

So the absess burst. Ick. Smelt like something had died. Urgh. Went to docs and given me ABs and told me to go to own doc on Monday. Can't take ABs though as amoxycillin which I'm allergic to despite me telling them that when asked for medical history. At least stopped hurting now though.

Pat/MissJ when are you meeting up? Is it half term?

Dog - I am really sad that not made it to see you. Sorry if I've been a total pain in the behind. We hardly left the holiday place really, didn't dare go too far. I will def come down south in the summer and see you before you get too pg. Sounds like you've had your hands full with poorlies. T had night terrors sometimes, are horrid.

MissJ - D weighs 13.3kg. He is the thread porker I think, although a bit older than N so probably time for N to overtake him. D not been bf for 3 months now so should be slimming down with less milk but no sign of that. Still on 99th centile.

Better go, DH requiring me. Home late tomorrow, normal service resumes. Am looking forward to doing some housework and getting some exercise, how sad is that!

chefswife · 21/05/2010 01:47

moose We should start a club... there's not too many in our age group that have been with someone over 20 years! No offense to anyone else, not down playing the length of your relationships but, come on, 20+ years and not in our 40's! Like Dog said; we been together with OH's for as long as they have been alive. lol

DD is soooooooo gassy right now. Well, dinner is over and we go and check the mail before bath... a nice 20 minute walk to double make sure she is worn out. Goodness knows that I am by then.

chefswife · 21/05/2010 01:47

Oh ya.. I did get that cup of tea.

chefswife · 21/05/2010 04:18

Come on... tell me you want a [

Swagger Wagon now].

Lenni poor you, that sounds really horrible and painful too. Hope it clears up soon.

at your love at first sight. Definitely lust love at first sight for us too. It was like my whole body was saying this is the man. But my brain was saying no - I thought he was just a total player. Spanish waiter syndrome. Happily for me, I got him all wrong though.

13.3kg - yup, he's the winner! He's only 3 weeks older than N. N is 95th centile all the way. Love these chunksters!

We have pencilled 17th for a meet up - are you around? Would be sooooo lovely to see you.

dog awwwww at DP stroking your hair. He really does sound like a sweetie that takes care of you. My DH would never buy me a trashy mag but he would get me flowers from the garage. Glad that DD's ear seems better. New Dr sounds fab. Mine always just seems really vague and smiley, and agrees with whatever I am telling him .

MM That bedtime routine sounds great - I might even try it with N. Most nights he is good, then he goes through a stage of refusing to sleep. The past 2 days he has only had an hour's sleep at lunch instead of 2, which has made him sleep better at night. But am loathe to give up those long naps. dog does A still nap? I always think of his 3 hr naps! You do have ace sleepers!

tea hope you had an okay night with your itchers?

hkz hope the constant sickness is improving...

Waves to everyone else... Must haul lazy ass out of bed now.

Chef, the thing is I WILL BE 40 on the 12th of June. See, I really am OLD!

Dog, we have a multi-gp practice and the best ones we ever get are the newly qualified ones on rotation. They are there on placement for 6 months and every time I find one I really like they have to leave. Every major problem with our family has been discovered and sorted by a newly qualified gp. Glad B is feeling a bit better this morning.

Lenni, glad you are in less pain. Hope you can get to your own GP for the right ABs soon. I've lost count of the times I've been given penecillin when my allergy is on my notes in big red letters AND I tell them every time!

MissJ, dd is somewhat of a surprise to us as the boys always had 2-3 hour naps in the day, right up until they started Reception year at school. Dd has other ideas and tends to have an hour in the morning then fall asleep at tea time and stay awake half the night. Tis a right pita, as it means I have to try and keep her awake while I'm cooking the tea and doing homework with the others etc.

Tea, hope you are holding up.

Well, ds2 and dd are very weak and pale though and sleeping on and off. I actually cried when I had to get up this morning. I am beyond tired and really couldn't face another day of sick demanding children. [bad Mummy emoticon] Dh took pity and sent me back to bed for an hour while he fed ds1 and got the other two settled. Unfortunately that now means he will be home late.

Dh contacted the photographer to say he like the photo and the guy said it has had more hits than any of the other pictures in the set. I didn't have the heart to tell him its because I've linked to it on mn.
