had to do a new thread as the old one just wasn't pleasing my computer!

Evening all. Just bought a brand new Ergo off a mate. Very, very pleased with myself (and it).

The fragrant smell of Brownies is wafting through the air. Yum. For a friend's birthday tomorrow and she is not as forgiving as Chef's mate so will not be trying them. Sadly. Did lick the bowl though.

I'm very impressed with everyone's antics.. think sex drive has been diverted into cooking drive since we've had babies. We used to siesta and that is now nigh on impossible. We too usually have one of them in bed with us by 5am and DP would not be popular for waking me up any earlier, that's for sure! (though I'm sure he would be tempted if it weren't for my legendary filthy mood when awoken. my mum needed ear plugs when I was a teenager. such language. tut.) Particularly impressed with MJ managing it with an active child in the room.

Tree, you poor think, that sounds like a nightmare. I have just discovered Manuka honey for skin complaints and have been reading it's amazing results. Might that help? V pricey though (was given mine).

xpost dog. I think you are right, just don't know where on earth you get the energy! Then again, people can't understand where I get the energy for all the cooking from scratch so maybe I need to change priorities and have a few take outs and fish fingers occasionally.

I completely agree with you DOG, and don't think it is awful at all missJ!

Am very grumpy. Loads of washing up, Hatts still up on full throttle and my leg hurts. Work is also loomng [nights at the weekend, then day off then back for one night]

DH has had another few exams, but has a maths and physics/chemistry comng up that are worrying him, so he is mega distracted.

120 · 09/06/2010 21:57

oooh Hate, Hate, Hate washing up! In our household growing up, doing it was a sign of being a loser. My sis bought the skiver's guide and we all read it. Trick is to wash up in tepid water with very little washing up liquid. no-one will ever ask you to do it again! Obviously don't do that anymore.. was just when our parents tried to coerce us.

Fortunately DP is very grown up and does pretty much all of the stuff our dishwasher can't handle.

Tree, I do feel for you!

Phew, was suddenly a bit worried then that I had over-shared! [mops brow]

tree yey for dishwasher. Life is too short to wash up. And apparently they use less water anyway... and much more hygienic. Good luck for DH's horrid exams, sounds awful. And hope your leg feels better soon.

120 brownies, yum. I have made sooooo many of your brownies now, double batch probably once a week. And I always think of you when I get compliments (not that I ever credit you except to my friends). Seriously, every week we serve them up with ice-cream to the guests, upto 28 of the yummy little f**kers, and not a crumb comes back. Which means I win (in the competition with my MIL as to who does the best pudding) . So once again, thank you. Do send me some flyers and I will plaster the place with them.

How fab that you got an ergo! We love ours and use it all the time.

dog totally agree. I never saw my parents so much as snog, and I don't think that was particularly healthy. It's all about balance.

Watched BB launch tonight and felt a bit not to be there, but also very relieved as I know the producers there will be looking at a long, long night ahead. Looked like the usual bunch of freaks and wannabes. I try not to be too judgmental though as I am almost 20 years older than the target viewer.

N asleep. What a sweetheart he is at the moment... except he has decided the pea gravel that hides the earth in my pot plants is much better placed in his trike basket... there are pieces of gravel everywhere... haven't got the heart to stop him transporting them carefully, piece by piece. He is a bit like makka pakka.

Urgh. I've had a huge mug of green and blacks hot choc and 4 choc hob nobs and, on balance, it wasn't wise. I feel rather dizzy and very

H is going through a...er...bad patch? She screams, hits and throws tantrums every 10 mins.

missjackson · 09/06/2010 23:57

Sounds like the ladies are playing up... tree good luck sleeping after your little chocolate hit!

I should go to bed myself really. OH picking up one of our friends at the airport so not back till late. Loving your name dilemma though dog, I am a sucker for dreaming of names... agree you need something really quite different from your I and A although all the ones you mention are really lovely. Needs to be more than 4 letters (or less) for starters. B is gorgeous name. I think you need to say in your head, 'B, A, I and.......Reuben?' Athene? I think you need a hard sort of N or a T or an M in there somewhere to bring things together, as I and A are quite soft names... Am I making any sort of sense ... no, didn't think so. Well, I shall have a think for you.

Night all.

treedelivery · 10/06/2010 00:52

I like Tommy My dd1 is 'just J' rather than the full name. I also know a Max who is just Max.

I'm liking Freya at the moment, and I have a soft spot for Sol after meeting such a lovely boy with the name.

H is up - no sleep for me just yet.

Am reading the EYFS handbook, which is hardcore insomnia no? Trying to place my dd1 in the stages, but naturally I think she is way of the scale. I might ask her teacher if I can see their assesments of her tomorrow.

FRUGI are doing 3 for 2 with the code COLIN - just to taunt you all. Sorry! I heart heart heart their shaggy cornish stripe jumper.

missjackson · 10/06/2010 03:46

Nearly 4am here... N decided to wake up at midnight and has been awake ever since . He must have read my post where I said he is such a sweetheart at the moment. Cross that right out. We are now up - he is moving stones and I am shopping for nappies .

allshoppedout · 10/06/2010 11:15

morning

Lenni · 10/06/2010 12:39

I love all your DCs names Dog. How about a T (as in my DD) there aren't enough in the world imho!!

DS also collecting the ornamental gravel MissJ - although he puts his in the empty holes in my wine rack. I am taking it as a sign I need to buy more wine.

Off to make chocolate fudge cake with DD. Found great topping recipe... she's shouting, must go...

I'm going to have to get my (fat) arse in gear else you'll all be skinny and glam and I'll still be bemoaning my baby weight. Back to my baking... I just need someone else to bake for, I love cooking too much to stop. So does DD, if we haven't made something she moans. Anyone elses 3yo driving them to death by craft activity? I spend my whole day cutting, sticking, painting, drawing, washig pastel dust off my furniture, baking, making flour cement for moulds etc. I am so bored of craft now. Remember looking forward to making stuff with DD but argh this is too much - is this a 3yo phase or is it permanent? The whole time she just whines 'I waaaaaant tooo maaakkkke!'

Wow, if you can do glitter then you aren't controlling enough!! I do controlled use of anything really messy but have just left DD downstairs with the watercolour set unsupervised while I vacuum (and MN !!) upstairs - DS is at nursery - so I'm sure there will be a watery mess to clear up when I get down. Still she is learning I guess.

Today already she has done some gardening, baked oat biscuits, made playdough and is now painting and she has only been home from preschool since 11.30. I find her so hard to occupy nowadays - she used to play with toys

DS doesn't have the patience for craft thank goodness so he stays well clear. They do bits with him at nursery but he is like a bull in a china shop. I think I have gender stereotypical children.

Lenni · 10/06/2010 14:21

And MissJ - We used to not bother about the babies being in our room when they were tiny in their cots. Now it isn't them so much as the dogs that put us off.... but that is another story.

Oh dear, a brown and black striped DD has just arrived and asked if she needs a clean... better go and investigate the kitchen.

PatTheHammer · 10/06/2010 15:00

LOL at the craft stories Lenni, T sounds just like E was a few months ago, very, erm industrious!!!

Well E is having a lovely birthday, thanks for all message on FB.
She peeked in this morning about 7am and we sang happy birthday to her and she was sooooooooooooooooo pleased and excited! She then demanded that I make her breakfast in bed whilst she watched tv ensconsed in MY bed.

We went to the most excellent softplay centre I have ever seen this morning. We were going to go to Brean leisure park but weather too variable to be trusted at the beach. This softplay was enormous and clean and just bloody brilliant really, free singing and music time and free craft where DD made a birthday crown (and missJ it is right by Cribbs Causeway so an excellent plan for N and Z should we ever want to meet whilst weather a bit dodgy, the toddler bit was fab and then retail therapy at JL only a stone throw away....).

We had pasta for lunch at her demand and then a wonder round the Mall where I bought her some girly bits in H&M to make up for the fact that all her presents were Fireman Sam gubbins and all a bit, well, boyish!

She is playing with said Firman Sam crap at the moment whilst Z has a nap..............he is knackered!

In-laws round at tea-time for a bit of cake..................just got to make some now, bugger!

PatTheHammer · 10/06/2010 15:03

PMSL at all this sneaky sex

DH and I sometimes sneak off whilst DD is busy with toys and Z napping..........oh, hang on, crap........better make myself look busy before he notices!

moosemama · 10/06/2010 18:26

Thought I'd show my face as you'd disappeared from my threads.

I have tried to read, but am a proper feather brain at the moment and can only remember snatches.

Dog, I love the name Seren for a girl (its Welsh and means Star). If dp likes Tom, would he like Sam perhaps (I know a little Sam and he's positively edible).

Tree and anyone else who says their dds are being proper madams at the moment, take heart. Dd was a proper tantrum queen for a few weeks, but seems to have come out of the other side of it now and is actually being really funny, cute and charming instead. I even let her walk around in John Lewis today, she did bolt a couple of times, but seemed to get the idea when I said she had to hold hands or she'd have to go back in the buggy. If she does get cross now, she calms down much more quickly and is easier to distract (which is excellent as we were having full on screaming tantrums complete with throwing herself of the floor and drumming hands and feet).

Lenni, good to hear dd is feeling a lot better. My boys were crazy for craft and baking at that age too, particulary ds2, but they've both grown out of it now. I think full time school takes it out of them and they just want to chill when they get home.

I am also a control freak when it comes to craft mess/glitter etc. If you've ever seen that French and Saunders episode where the mums try to entertain their children in the holidays by meeting up to do craft etc but can't actually let the children do and and keep taking over - that's me. I did just try and find a clip, but it eludes me.

Nothing much of interest going on here. Started walking again, but then somehow managed to sprain my ankle whilst standing still waiting for ds2 to come out of school (ankle just collapsed under me - very weird) so have had to lean off the long walks again for a few days.

Its the big 40 birthday for me on Saturday, but for various reasons I'm not getting a present of dh (don't ask ) and won't be getting anything from the rest of the family either as they can't be arsed to make the effort to choose something themselves didn't want to buy what I wanted because it was all practical stuff . So I am not getting interested, let alone excited about it. We are supposed to be going to Dovedale for a picnic with our friends and their dcs (not what I asked dh to organise, but will have to do) but its looking like the ground will be too wet, so may need to decamp to a pub, where I shall drink - lots - as dd decided to self-wean last weekend. She hasn't asked for milk since last Sunday morning and boy have I been sore and uncomfortable all week as a result. Am a bit better today though. My reaction to her stopping was a strange mix of 'thank god for that' and 'sob, sob, sob, my last baby etc etc'. [daft moo emoticon]

Right, its half past six and I haven't made the tea yet so I'd better get my skates on.

Sorry if I've missed anyone/anything.

teaandcakeplease · 10/06/2010 20:16

Hope your ankle gets better soon Moose ((hugs))

I'm quite controlling on crafts/ baking with my DD too. Like to limit mess Was nodding my head to lots of stuff said on here and thinking

DS is also having major strops and I am almost certain he's suddenly turned a corner and now doesn't understand why he cannot do certain things and why he can't fling his dinner on floor etc. Whenever I say no, the tantrum begins, or if his sister is doing something and he can't, whatever that maybe, further tantrums.

Looking forward to his language developing and therefore hoping tantrums ease with better understanding. They did with DD

Not much to report here apart from the fact DD is finally mastering potty training well and truly, as you'd all probably gathered! Hurrah!

Right off to watch tv

treedelivery · 10/06/2010 22:02

Hey Moose. Hope your ankle gets better soon. 'm on nights this weekend so can I wish you big Happy Birthdays now? Day in the pub sounds magic! A suitable finale to a bloody mervellous bfing career. Get yourself a new non-clip bra fro your birthday.

Good to hear there are other babies with big attitudes out there! I rally wonder about dd2, will she go on to have somesort of ADD tyoe thing. She is seriously wild and out there. Which is cool, we accept her and embrace her. ANd dribble with exhaustion
But maybe she is a toddler, and because dd1 was so calm and compliant [and lethargic from constipation] we aren't really experiences in this level of sheer energy. I could live without the hitting I must say.

he hasn't really eaten for 3 days but today ate half a pot of fruit puree and some chips and peas. Yay!

She is on a 'well processed dairy' dairy challenge. So biscuits or cereal containing milk poweder. Now she goes dairy free for about 3 days and we watch. Have to say she has mega farts and stiff tummy, so it aint looking all that good. SHe only had 2 biscuits and a bit of cake. Ho hum.

Craft phase seems to be very intense around age 3. DD1 has kinda left it behind, her play is usually around a tiny little dog or ppony, and all bed making and hiding places that can generate. Lots of folded up loo roll and lttle boxes. Still loves to bake, and make pizza.
I am on weight watchers. Today I found out I am 14st10 and 43% fat. Bejaysus. Doing 22 points till get used to butting down, then down to 20. What a tedious arse.

treedelivery · 10/06/2010 22:10

Oh God this keyboars is really ont he way out!

teaandcakeplease · 10/06/2010 22:23

I'm doing a low carb diet Tree. I hate diets, already feel hungry just knowing I'm dieting! I don't have a set of scales here luckily!

DS hits out when frustrated/ angry too. He's far worse when he sleeps badly though or misses naps. So I'm becoming very regimented on sleep

Your poor DD
