had to do a new thread as the old one just wasn't pleasing my computer!

lol at trees keyboard.

Trying to watch BB but actually falling asleep - mixture of 'same old same old' and the fact I got approx 4 hours sleep last night. He has been asleep since 8pm so praying we don't get a replay.

Too tired to remember anything good; just wanted to say hello. And goodnight.

ps I long for craft! I think N will be about 21 before he's got the patience and co-ordination to do anything arty.

moosemama · 10/06/2010 23:17

Tree, I reckon dd2's going to be an angel when she's older. I'm working on my experience of things being the other way around. Ds1 was the easiest baby and toddler, I can honestly say he never moaned, nagged or whinged even once and never had a tantrum until he started school full time. So on that basis, your dd2 will be an absolute dream when she's older.

Oh and dd did the hitting as well, she has got better with that as well. Now she thinks about it, then stops when I giver her 'the look'.

Dd eats like a flipping horse. Honestly, she eats bigger meals than her brothers and people are constantly amazed at how much she can stuff down, but when I weighed and measured her at home this week I discovered she has dropped onto the 2nd centile for both, so I'm thinking I should call the HV to check her out. She seems to have a very big tummy, and we're now wondering about coeliacs with her as well. A distended stomac, weight tailing off from weaning and short stature are all fairly text-book and she dropped from the 25th to the 9th right after weaning and now with her getting down to the 2nd centile it does seem to beg the question. Fortunately she doesn't have any nasty symptoms, but then again coeliacs can be completely asymptomatic. Ds1 is having his repeat blood test in the morning, so hopefully we'll know more very soon. I'm hoping that she's only dropped below the 9th since that horrible d&v bug.

I hear ya on the weight thing too. I weighed myself at the beginning of this week and it would seem I have the exact opposite problem to dd. I have gained two stones since March and weigh as much now as I did at 8 months pregnant with dd. I have been very down about it all, but was briefly motivated into walking and eating lots of salad - until I knackered my ankle. I am down but not out however and intend to restart after my birthday weekend. I know the best thing I can do is exercise, as after the first few days I get going and feel so much better that I'm then motivated to keep it up I don't want to eat crap because I'm feeling so much better. Opposite to a viscious circle I guess.

So sugar-detox next week - then onwards and upwards (or downwards iyswim. I'll kick your butt if you'll kick mine! And we'll be svelte and gorgeous before you know it.

moosemama · 10/06/2010 23:21

Apologies for my horrendous typing in that post. I am soooo tired and I promised myself I'd be in bed before 10.30 every night this week.

Better head off now before I fall asleep on the sofa.

chefswife · 11/06/2010 02:54

Moose I was hoping that weaning this far along wouldn't be so bad on the boobs. DD is leaning to weaning. I hear ya about the sob/thank-god thing.

We have our second set of names picked out. Henry for a boy, (obviously, I guess) after my dad and either Sophia or Ophelia, both girl names DH picked and I love, mostly cause I get to call my little girl Fifi. Isn't that cute. Ahh.

I can't wait to put together a craft box!

Moved a shit load of dirt today. Yard almost ready for sod. Just have to tidy up and lay down the last of the rocks for the border. Going to pick up some more flowers too because Uncle G got a whole load instead of a half, so I have a lot of dirt to work with. Its great.

Ta ta for now darlings.

chefswife · 11/06/2010 07:43

DD is so stroppy the last few days! Wanting to get into everything and having a fit when she isn't allowed. Just keep reminding myself that it is only a stage and its preparing me for the next.

Have a beautiful day, Ladies.

allshoppedout · 11/06/2010 11:59

Morning

Just back from the hospital. Hopefully this time they won't screw up the sample and we will get to find out whether or not ds1 has coeliacs. He was super brave, expecially as they let the trainee loose on him. Mind you I think the poor trainee guy was more nervous that ds1!

Had to wait while Mum also had a blood test, so it was a bit like a family outing in the waiting room. Had to wait over an hour for Mum's test and dd had the entire waiting room eating out of her hands being really cute and doing all her party tricks totally unprompted. They all thought she was some sort of child prodidgy as she looks so small that they thought she was a lot younger than she is. (Gets em every time! )

Ds1 is a happy boy today anyway, as his best friends Mum called and invited him to tea after school today. Its a major thing for him, as with his social/communication issues he doesn't tend to get invited to many parties or playdates. Something seems to have shifted recently though, as he seems to be a lot more popular with the boys in his class all of a sudden. I think it was the birthday party that did it, as all the boys that came seem to be quite tight these days - a bit like a secret society. I am so that my little trick seems to have worked for him.

I am waiting for the Tesco van whilst sat here eating spicy couscous and low fat hummus wholemeal pittas and grapes - pointless really, as I am fully intending to stuff myself and drink copious amounts of alcohol this weekend. I have ordered some really nice bottles of red and some rose (which I have never tried before) to be going on with.

Put one of my new tops on this morning and the darn buttons won't do up over my chest. I am determined not to take it back though as I AM going to be much slimmer in a couple of weeks and I'm hoping they might go down a bit now the bf has ended.

Chef, love your names. I particularly like Henry, but we couldn't have it as we know one we would rather not be reminded of iyswim.

Your garden sounds like its really coming on now. Ours is still a mud pit with a pile of slabs in one corner as dh still has to speak to she-who-shal-not-be-named about returfing.

My little old lady dog has gone very strange this morning, I am sure she has dementia. She is really friendly and waggy (most unlike her as she's always been really aloof and stuck-up - pedigree y'see ) but can't seem to find her way around the house and garden. Dh had to go and retrieve her from the fence this morning when we saw she couldn't find the back door and kept trying to walk into it and I have had to rescue her from the bathroom twice. She looks confused, but quite happy and waggy when we rescue her each time, so I don't think she's finding it distressing. Suppose it comes to us all eventually, but its very sad to see.

moosemama · 11/06/2010 17:50

Dog, if you are about. I know I'm a bit late, but just remembered this thread in Special needs.

Its a general speech delay support thread. Just wondered if they might be able to offer you some support/suggestions re A.

I have found the people on the SN threads so helpful and supportive over the past year or so. Twas just a thought, you might not want to go there, but they are the people to ask for advice regarding speech delay, as they've all either been there or are currently going through it with their own dcs.

moosemama · 11/06/2010 17:51

Someone come and say something - I look like a right saddo sat here talking to meself!

teaandcakeplease · 11/06/2010 20:07

Friend here with chocolate to console me. Feeling a bit and as H's OW has come to stay with him until the end of June. Only found out late this afternoon. I've always liked the fact she was 4 hours drive away. But the thought of her being just up the road until the end of June makes me hopping ! I don't want her to see my DCs and I don't want to speak to her or even be in that house (even if she's out), the thought of it makes me skin crawl.... Grrrrrrr

Probably rather disjointed unless you know my full story.

But hello Moose x

treedelivery · 11/06/2010 20:27

Oh love ((((((((hugs))))))
I hope you have some sound legal advice regarding your house. Start a thread, under a new name if you wanted. There are always either people who have lived through it too, or lawyers loitering about mumsnet. If you get someone who is both it is a deadly conbination Obviously I know nothing of your circumstances, just eager to hear that you aren't missing out or suffering anymore than you have too. ((((((hugs)))))

Moose, I'm delighted that repeat sample is done. When do you hear? Great news about his invite, for both of you really. You should feel pleased, you generated the circumstances for that to happen. Maybe you could have a bit of a do in the 6wk holday to keep the momentum up? You seem very good at them!
Could doggy have a urine infection? know old people go mnd wandering something terrible when they have them, so maybe same happens.

The sn board seems populated with real experts. When I started a thread about my wonderings about dd2 being a bit 'different' I got some really good answers/ I didn't got to the board, as she isn't sn nor close due to her age [the wonderings I have will take years to either be proved right or wrong], but some of them came to me, as it were . I'm gong to give it a little while longer with dd2, then maybe talk to to the HV about her. Like I say though, I have skewed ideas because of dd1.

Chef - love all those names.

Sun shining in my bedroom window, fromt he side. I can see the rpples of the old glass on the wall and a clear blue sky. I love this house, on a terrace street in the middle of town, but it has clear sky views as it's nearly the height of a skyscraper and the windows are 6ft tall Less good when buying curtains

H is eating again. Praise be! SHe is in a waaaay better mood. I'm wondering if she has had chicken pox, SHe has 6 little spots in random locations, they are a little blistery looking, and she has been a little bugger. What do you think? A very very milk form? Her molars are nearly though too.

I've bought these for the girls. I couldn't resist. This time last year I was living in a camper van in Cornwall [ok, it was 3 weeks, but it felt lke living to us ] and I was so grumpy at not doing it either a)again or b) forever that I had to buy them to keep the dream alive.
As it was 3 for 2 I also got [[http://www.welovefrugi.com/girls-clothes/baby-0-2-y/product/2789 yay!]

treedelivery · 11/06/2010 20:27

Mega post

chefswife · 11/06/2010 21:03

Its funny sometimes what you hear when you are semi-listening to children's programs; book club became butt plug and Frank's Fish was Frank bitch. Hmm... a theme here! lol

We got a tent, sleeping bags, cooler, butane burner and battery lamps for camping! The tent is one of the those crazy 2 room ones with a foyer. lol. Need somewhere to park the chariot stroller. I'm looking for the perfect welcome matt... something really garish.

Also, just wanted to plug Olive and Lily for girl names. DD was almost an Olive. I would love to call the next girl Lily but don't want to start flower theme.

treedelivery · 11/06/2010 21:04

at the campng stuff chef!

Our soccer girl gets married in the morning!

chefswife · 11/06/2010 21:07

Oh and my friend just named her DS Oscar. Very cool.

chefswife · 11/06/2010 21:08

I know! Can't wait to see those pictures!

moosemama · 11/06/2010 21:09

Oh Tea. (((lots more hugs))) Haven't really got anything useful to say, but am sending you some of the huge chocolate cake (Green & Blacks) that ds2 and I made while ds1 was at his friends house this evening.

Tree, don't think it is a urine infection, I think its either dementia or a secondary on the brain. Like I said though, she is comfortable and happy enough in herself, which is the most important thing. She does occasionally seem to get scared and start shaking and acting odd (shying away and hiding etc) when the children are being particularly boisterous. Its hard to balance her needs with theirs at the moment. Think I will take her in for a check-up and to discuss her meds though.

Could the spots be a milk reaction perhaps? If not, it makes sense that her behaviour has got worse if she has chicken-pox.

Love those Frugi clothes. I am spent out after my mammoth Mini Mode splurge. They all arrived this week, just need some sunshine now as I've bought her loads of romper suits, shorts and sun tops.

Your house sounds lovely. Mine on the other hand is dark and cold at the front (although overlooked by a enormous and very beautiful oak tree that we love, which is why its dark) and too hot at the back. I do love its cottagey quarry tile window ledges, picture rails and sloping bedroom ceilings with little beams exposed in the corners though. I have a real love/hate relationship with the place, but on balance, I guess I love it more than I hate it and either way its kind of in my blood.

Ds1 had a great time at his friends house and as dd slept for a massive chunk of the time he was there ds2 loved having one-to-one time baking with Mummy and building his lego kit without his brother constantly criticising offering helpful advice.

All in all a good afternoon, but still have to decorate my own birthday cake before tomorrow. Well two actually, a chocolate one for me and a plain one for ds1 so he doesn't feel left out by not being able to have a slice of birthday cake. (Honestly the things I do for my dcs.)

Dd is up and has just put her leggings back on over her sleepsuit! I'm thinking there's not much chance of her sleeping anytime soon - I suppose I have the lovely long nap to thank for that. Ah well - on Mum's loss is a middle son's gain I suppose.

chefswife · 11/06/2010 21:15

lol Moose at decorating your own cake. Happy Birthday cake icing.

moosemama · 11/06/2010 21:21

Oooh I really wanted an Oscar, but dh was having none of it. Actually there is one in ds2's year at school and he is a little bugger a bit of a challenge.

Of the boys' friends the nicest ones are called, Daniel, Guy, Isaac, Thomas, Bracken, and Ben. There also seem to be recurring names among the naughty not quite so well behaved boys, namely Nathan, Josh, Connor and Calum. I don't have any strong views about any of those names, by the way, but have definitely noticed the second group of names recurring among the erm 'livelier' cohort of boys across several years at the school.

chefswife · 11/06/2010 23:33

DH thinks a Henry would get beat up on the playground for his name. But I think the kids would say "Hey kid. What's ur name?" "Henry." "Dude, that's like a cool name in the like regal sort of way." (OK. A bit lame. lol )

120 · 12/06/2010 07:37

Happy Birthday Moose - is it today? 2 Birthdays and a Christening this weekend and H being a little sod challenging at the mo so no time to m'net.

OP posts:
treedelivery · 12/06/2010 09:35

OOOOO my Frugi order just arrived. Am so excited! Was supposed to be going back to sleep in prep for my nghts but think I will force the dd's to model for me!

Happy Birthday Moosey. Hope you are having a lovely time icng your cake and generally getting some chilling out time. x

chefswife · 12/06/2010 16:43

Happy Birthday Moose Hope tis all good and then some. At least you know the cake will rock!

Tree I've been surfing through the Frugi stuff since you posted the stripey jumper. Shame on you! What am I going to tell DH why I need the credit card now for. lol

DH came home last night and I said, "OMG, I can't do breakfast tomorrow with DD". She's just been so whiney and cry-y... (not really crying but cry-y. Does that make sense?) every morning that yesterday I raised my voice a bit and told her to shut up. And now everytime I say stop, it upsets her because she knows I'm upset at her. The only saving grace is that she will come up to me to give me a kiss right after, but it is incredibly draining. I'm sure you all know what I'm talking about. Anyhow, DH looked after her this morning, (she is no where near as bad for Daddy) and he brought me the computer and coffee.

Moving last of the dirt today. There is so much more than I can really use so I've been making more flower bed spots. May as well. One of the neighbours has bees so I'm going to plant bee loving plants and ones for butterflys too. Only tomatoes for veg as the deer don't seem to eat it.

OK. Guess I should get my big mom butt out of bed. Have a lovely evening my fellow parental units.

allshoppedout · 12/06/2010 17:25
