Another speedy dash in :( I need some time!

Ohhhh, Bebe Grin Yay - fingers crossed for you! I'm a little bit Envy, but there's absolutely no chance of another one for me for a good while yet, for a number for quite major reasons! I'll have to live vicariously through you ladies, so don't abandon us entirely!

Auld - they need to be able to stand a chance of catching you as they chase you around the bedroom Wink

Schulte - I'm thinking of your niece. I hope she's okay. I'm sure she will be. Babies are resilient little things. Let us know when there's news.

PuzzleRockinAroundTheXmasTree · 22/12/2010 16:06

Just nipping in to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas.

Schulte - How is your niece?

BicNoddyHolder · 23/12/2010 14:13

Oh Schulte Sad - thinking of your niece and sending huge hugs to you. We will meet up in the new year - I've missed you x x x

Auld - how is your knee now?

Merry Christmas fanjo warriors - we're off tonight to the New Forest so won't be around much until the new year - have a fab festive season Xmas Grin x x x

FrogmellaMoonbeam · 24/12/2010 09:38

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!! Xmas Grin Xmas Smile fgrin] Xmas Wink

AuldAlliance · 24/12/2010 11:12

Schulte, how is your little niece? Fingers crossed.

Bicnod, have a good holiday.

Had a vile journey here, Ryanair are shite. 10 hr delay, no help or compensation, had to buy new connecting flights and night in a hotel.

Knee is alarming. Bruising was yellow, is now purple. Still can't walk.

ZuluWassailer · 24/12/2010 20:16

Happy Christmas all! Hope nieces and knees are all well xxx

bebemoohatessnot · 24/12/2010 22:10

Merry Christmas everyone! Hope tomorrow brings the happy, healthy news we love to hear!
xxx
Hope your holidays are full of love and joy. Hugs to all the little April ones on their second Christmas!
xxx

bebemoohatessnot · 27/12/2010 19:01

Still preggy so calling in at the gp tomorrow... why do I feel so utterly nervous?!?

Schulte · 28/12/2010 13:10

Thanks everyone for asking, niece is doing well, she's breathing on her own again and drinking a bit from a bottle, but still needs to be fed through a tube as well. She's got a way to go still...

Hope everyone had a nice Christmas. The Schulte family is snotty and coughing, but otherwise doing okay. Hazel is on temporary hunger strike. Won't touch any of the meals that I so lovingly cook, but is always happy to stuff her face with fruit, bread, cereal and biscuits. When the main course is served, she pushes it away and asks for pudding. What's the best way to behave as a parent?

Auld, hope the knee is getting better - have you seen a doctor again?

I'm signing off for 3 weeks as we're off to Zimbabwe tomorrow Xmas Smile Xmas Smile Xmas Smile. Happy New Year to all and hope beans are sticky/babies get well soon/knees go the right colour and that all your gorgeous little ones are happy and healthy. And you too of course.

xxxxx

WhatFreshHellIsThis · 29/12/2010 17:39

Schulte we have same behaviour from Orbit at the mo with food. I normally give him fruit or yogurt if he wants it for his pudding, but leave his main course on the table as well. Quite often he then eats his main course afterwards. And if not, I figure fruit and yog is a reasonable meal.

Schulte · 29/12/2010 19:51

Thanks WFH. That's sort of what I am doing, when she refuses her main course at least she'll have some blueberries and banana for pudding. Of course I am getting fat as I tend to finish her main course for her Blush

Is it wrong to get excited about the next Bookstart pack? They must be due one soon?

Ah. Something else I wanted to ask. So Hazel talks much less than DD1 did at this age, has only just started putting two words together at times and one of them is always Mummy. I am wondering if this is normal second child behaviour or whether her hearing might have been affected by the constant ear infections. Any ideas? Not that it bothers me much but I do wonder sometimes when she'll start talking properly.

WhatFreshHellIsThis · 30/12/2010 07:48

Me again Grin - Orbit talks MUCH less than DS1 did and I have wondered similar things about his hearing, but I do hear from people that this is normal second child stuff. I think in our house he can't get a word in edgeways.....!

He can say Star, Car, Wow, Uh-oh, Yay, Cool, Isaac, Daddy, sometimes Mummy but mostly he calls me Daddy, Yojojo and Shoe. He only started putting two words together the other day (Yojojo Car) and his speech is very indistinct compared to DS1 at this age.

I think as long as Hazel is doing some speech and it's progressing, then she's fine. Someone also told me to see if they turn their head when you call their name from behind them so they can't see you talking, iyswim, as a test. Orbit will look round eventually but I think that's just ignoring me rather than deafness Wink.

Must go to work.....Sad

WhatFreshHellIsThis · 30/12/2010 07:49

oh and he can say Chair but he pronounces it Cair, and Tea.

PuzzleRockinAroundTheXmasTree · 30/12/2010 14:54

Normal second child behaviour I think. Up until a few weeks ago Holly said nothing. All of a sudden she began to talk and went from virtually no words to parroting any and every word.

Anyone else still have wakeful babies? She was up every hour last night. I feel like a zombie.

Schulte · 30/12/2010 20:26

Ah good. To be fair, DD1 talks non stop and likes to repeat herself so Hazel probably can't be bothered Grin She's got her own little ways of attracting attention... much more naughty than DD1 ever was Hmm

Puzzle - urgh. Sounds like a tough night. Don't know what to suggest but I do hope you'll get some more sleep tonight!

AuldAlliance · 30/12/2010 20:41

A is also much later in talking than DS1. I have wondered if it is partly because the OPOL bilingual method is not so simple when there is an older sibling: DS1 speaks to A in whichever language he is using at the time, which must be confusing.

A seems, like others, to be getting going now: he said bathtime after I did tonight, and keeps repeating words gleefully. No real setences yet apart from "tape pas" '"don't hit", which is scary as I suspect it is a phrase he hears all too often! He does say "ready...go!", but not sure that is a sentence, really.

Schulte · 30/12/2010 21:16

Auld, you must tell me about how you got DS1 to speak both languages. DD1 still refuses to speak German and in theory we are doing OPOL.

Bicnod · 31/12/2010 11:33

Ello ladies Grin

Auld how's the knee now?

Schulte how is your niece doing?

Bebe how was your trip to the doc?

RE: eating ishoos - O is a picky little blighter. He'll eat pasta (but only with pesto or cheese sauce or plain), some veg sometimes, fish fingers, cheese, toast, yoghurt and most fruit (although he has gone off bananas lately). He will not eat anything I cook like spag bol or stew or fish pie - although he eats all of these things at the CM Angry. I'm assuming he'll grow out of it at some point, have started giving him vitamins and making sure he has fruit and yoghurt after every meal (like WFH that's sometimes all he'll have) and an oatcake before bed with milk.

RE: sleeping ishoos. O has always been dreadful but he's been really really awful recently - waking three or four times a night, screaming inconsolably, taking ages to go back off and then waking for the day at 5/5.30am. We decided to take my mum's advice Shock and cut his lunchtime nap down to one hour max (he usually has up to 2 hours). we've been doing this for 2 days/nights and the first night he woke twice and then slept until 6.45am and last night he woke once Shock and again slept until 6.45am - I can't believe it. Too early to tell if it's going to sort him out permanently but I feel less like a zombie. He's grumpy when I wake him up from his lunchtime nap early but as long as he has a snack and good distraction pretty soon after he's fine for the afternoon.

Right - gotta fly - love to you all. Can't believe it's nearly 2011 - our babies will be 2 next year Sad

bebemoohatessnot · 31/12/2010 12:29

Anyone know about living and breeding in Munich?

PuzzleRocks · 31/12/2010 16:51

I hope you all have a great evening.
Is it too early to hit the bubbles?

bebemoohatessnot · 31/12/2010 18:43

Hope you all have a great New Year's Eve! Be safe. :) xx

Bicnod let's hope that you've broke the bad sleep cycle. Moo's not been having naps for ages so I can't cut one out/short :( , hoping after she's got her molars in we won't be having trouble again as this Mommy is so very very tired of the 3 or 4 am wake ups...I could be sleeping for Wales the way I feel.

Schulte · 31/12/2010 21:45

Bebe - obviously I have posted on your Munich thread. I'll come and see you there!

How sad am I mumsnetting at 10pm on new year's eve? Grin
