Oh god that is so fantastic! Great thread!

I took two very strong opiate type things I bought in France, which conked me out completely. I was still stoned lunchtime today, having nodded off mid-morning. Pain much better, thank you. It was watching the pink elephants that healed me.

bebemoohatessnot · 16/07/2010 09:21

Moo's walking around saying 'Shit Sheet' and pointing at her pants... When I got her dressed today I said, 'We put on your shirt we put on your trousers...' she latched onto the word shirt but the thing trousers....

Schulte · 16/07/2010 12:12

That's very funny Bebe In our house everything is 'there-go'.

Lollibop thingy

Off to read Bicnod's thread now.

OoooooooohhhhNooooooooooo!

I went to the doctor's today as they picked up that I had thrush after a recent smear test. They prescribed me the usual Canesten tablet plus cream but it did no good. I tried again a week later, buying my own, but again no improvement. So I went back to doctor as things very uncomfortable down below.

He told me I have something called lichen sclerosus but didn't elaborate. Ah well, I though, ladygardens are complicated and this must be some sort of alternative condition people get. No worries. Cream apparently available.

Then I found on the internet later on that up to 5% of people with this go on to develop cancer of the vulva.

I cannot cope with any more nasty health conditions.

bebemoohatessnot · 16/07/2010 19:42

Boff that is horrible! Fingers crossed that it never develops into anything else. (But how could he have not mentioned it as just a 'heads up' so you were/are more aware of things down there and don't let anything 'pass'?!?!)

AuldAlliance · 16/07/2010 20:38

Oh, Boff, that is crap.
5% is a very slim chance, but he should have mentioned it.

We had a horrendous journey here, A cried for 6 hours of the 8-hour flight and then fell asleep an hour before we landed. We are still recovering. The fact that it gets dark at 6pm helps, as the boys crash out early.

It is utterly lovely to see all my old friends, and wonderful to be on holiday and in such a beautiful place. A very close friend lives just up the road and DS1 played with her daughter all afternoon. He was 4mths old when we left and she was a 5mth old foetus. It is lovely but weird to see them play together now.

It is all very bittersweet, as when we left here it was not with the slightest inkling of how DH's professional life would pan out, and I am constantly trying to quash painful thoughts of "what if".

Swaliswan · 16/07/2010 21:36

Evening All,

I've been lurking for months but couldn't pass without posting to Boff.

Try not to worry about the lichen sclerosus. I see quite a lot of women with it at work and my mum suffers from it so I've spoken to one of our consultants about it a bit. It seems that even if it does develop into cancer it tends to be VIN (vulvar intraepithelial neoplasia) which is non-invasive. It does need to be removed which isn't pleasant but non-invasive is as good as it gets with cancer so try not to let the words scare you. Obviously being very vigilant is of paramount importance but as you should be using something like epaderm as a daily soap substitute and moisturiser even when you aren't using a steroid cream as well, keeping an eye will become part of your routine.

BTW, it doesn't sound as if you've had a skin biopsy to properly confirm the diagnosis. I would definitely ask to be referred to a dermatologist to have the diagnosis properly confirmed because so often GPs can be wrong about the more obscure dermatological conditions. I've seen GPs be wrong about this in the past and personally would want proper dermatological follow up.

Lecture over! Best of luck, Boff.

Swaliswan · 16/07/2010 22:09

BTW, while I'm here I probably should fess-up that I'm 15 weeks pg with DC3. Today I had the joy of throwing up infront of DD1&2 in John Lewis (in the loo, not in public) and the conversation went something like this:

Me:
DD1:what are you doing, mummy?
Me: being sick
DD1:why, mummy?
Me: mummy's a bit poorly
DD1:why are you poorly muumy?
Me: mummy's just a bit poorly at the moment. Can you pass mummy the bottle of water from under the pushchair?
DD1:there you go, mummy.

DD1:are you flushing the bugs away mummy? (while I'm trying to sip some water)

I know that I shouldn't come on here and moan about morning sickness especially when some of you would love a bit of morning sickness at the mo. But, really, that felt a bit beyond the call of duty to answer the why questions whilst throwing up!

BoffinMum · 16/07/2010 22:31

Swali, hello! Congratulations!

Thanks so much for posting. I really still don't have a handle on what the hell this is, but the GP just poked around my nether regions a little bit and then muttered the name of the condition, before writing me a prescription for Dermovate that Boots here out in the sticks can't fulfil and need to order in.

I have been googling and found a nice gynae chap called Peter Baldwin that I am thinking of getting referred to. I am not that confident in the GP being able to look after me properly.

BoffinMum · 16/07/2010 22:34

Is it better to see a gynae or a dermatologist with this? The lovely Peter has a research interest in vulval cancers.

Swaliswan · 17/07/2010 13:56

If GP just suspects LSetA, then I'd go for the dermatologist as you will get more follow up. If GP suspects VIN or other vulval cancer, then definitely go for gynae initially but don't expect any follow up or long term checks if they decide that it's 'only' LSetA. I'm not just being biased towards dermatology because that's where I work, my mum has had very poor care of her LSetA with gynae because it turned out that she didn't have VIN. I've also never known any of our patients to have such a bad time recovering from a skin biopsy as my mum did when the gyanecologists took samples so I'm not convinced that they're great at it. However, you live a long way from us so I can only speak of my personal experience.

Oh, and I cannot believe that you are having dermovate oredered in! It's dermovate, not formaldehyde that you're asking for! Tell me that you've been prescribed epaderm or something similar as well?

PuzzleRocks · 17/07/2010 15:53

Hello

Bronze - I'm certainly not above a bit of bribery from time to time. It works.
Best wishes to DS for a speedy recovery.

Schulte - How's the abcess?
Are you at Lollibop?

And Auld - Your knee?
Shame about the rough journey, but have a fabulous time.

Oh lordy! And Boff - Your groin?

Oh hell, just saw your post about Lichen thingumy. Do not google, you know that's guaranteed to panic a person.

Bicnod - Congrats to your DB and SIL. My friend had a little boy two weeks ago. It's amazing how nervous I was with a newborn.
My children seemed massive.
That thread was great.

Life here is ticking along. Ellen has a referral to discuss managing what is possibly asthma. It has been quite tough in recent weeks. She's a little trooper though.

DH and I recently went to a parents info evening at the school nursery where she will be joining in September. It was quite exciting but I then spent the evening watching old videos of her and welling up at how quickly my little girl has grown.

PuzzleRocks · 17/07/2010 15:55

Hey Swaliswan, good to hear from you. Huge congratulations on your pregnancy, how exciting.

BoffinMum · 17/07/2010 22:44

Swali, I have a prolapse as well which is why I thought the gynae might be best.

What is epaderm? He only prescribed Dermovate.

Our Boots is rubbish, by the way. They only have a fraction in of what they used to have when they were an Alliance pharmacy.

Bicnod · 18/07/2010 12:38

Hello ladies, hope you're all enjoying this windy weather.

Boff - hope you're ok and get good advice - must be very frightening

Puzzle sorry to hear about Ellen's asthma, poor little thing.

Swali - congrats on pg

Auld sorry about crap journey. Do you think you'll ever move back?

I am mostly hanging out on the conception boards at the moment. Just starting cycle 8 TTC and feeling pretty down about it

bebemoohatessnot · 18/07/2010 18:14

:(

mrsgboring · 18/07/2010 22:08

Evening all. Edmund is refusing to be put down AT ALL in the evenings, past few weeks. It's killing me and I haven't been able to post or catch up or even read the thread. DH is currently holding him so I can get some rest, but can't spend time with DH because one of us is always on E.

If anyone has any idea what's causing this or what to do to fix it (bearing in mind I'm a softie when it comes to this sort of thing - have NCSS, which doesn't really speak to this kind of thing. Spent three years trying to crack DS1 with the Pantley pull off et al and it never worked, can't see it working for E either)

Boff, hope you get the referrals etc. you need sorted out and it's okay.

Bebe, so sad for you.

Puzzle, sorry about Ellen's chest. Asthma can be really really well managed these days (I was and am moderately seriously asthmatic but these days it has very little impact on my day to day life because the drugs are so much better). Nursery is fab.

Swali, congratulations. Am but DH definitely doesn't want to do it again and it wouldn't be wise anyway. I hope you stop feeling sick soon.

Sorry, I'm sure I must have missed many many people. My mental faculties are a bit destroyed by sleep deficit.

BoffinMum · 18/07/2010 22:51

MrsG, there's two ways to go with things as I see it.

Either leave him to cry it out (which you don't want to do), or deliberately carry him about in a sling or backpack until he's feeling more settled, weaning him off this later on. I'd probably go with the latter for a few days and see what happened. If he needs you, he needs you, and at some point hopefully he will feel tanked up with mother love and move on.

If it's any comfort, Felix has decided I am the main person in his life and clings onto my leg the whole time at the moment, or gets me to carry him around. He pushes away anyone who comes near me in a kind of 'That's MY mummy' sort of way, even DH. He has a fierce and possessive love for me, which is very flattering but also rather confining. I never had this with any of the others, so it's kind of new. Luckily he will go to bed fairly easily, particularly if I put his music box on for him, so sleep's not a huge issue. He does go to quite a few little groups with his nanny now, which helps as he is getting a bit more socialised and enjoying the company of other children rather than just us with me lurking prominently in the arrangement.

mrsgboring · 19/07/2010 19:47

Thanks Boff. He is asleep in his cot tonight ahhhhhhhhhhhhh

Schulte · 20/07/2010 21:50

Just a quickie to say Lollibop was great, congrats to Swali, lots of hugs to Bebe and Bicnod and whoever else needs them, and good luck to Boff. I am glad Swali had some sound advice for you, hope you don't worry too much. Oh and E well done for sleeping in his cot!

Congratulations Swali, am vvvvvvvv

DP still not keen on number three

Schulte · 22/07/2010 20:32

I feel very pregnant at the moment but I KNOW I can't be so it must be some very bad PMS. Or whatever it's called

Congratulations Swali

PuzzleRocks · 23/07/2010 09:41

Good morning

Ellen seems to be much better this week but her chest xrays came back showing something so we have an appointment next week. We also have a hospital referral in August.
Mrs G - Thanks for the reassurance. I have been googling and plenty of athletes seem to have asthma which gives me some comfort.

Re nametapes, I have just ordered Ellen's first batch and was really excited. Saddo. They come complete with a little elephant symbol. Too cute. And pretty colours. Not like my day when it was surname only printed in black [one of five children, lots of hand me downs emoticon].

PuzzleRocks · 23/07/2010 09:54

Time to pay more attention to the children. I have just found Holly sitting in the bathroom, wearing my bra, shredding loo roll, and eating toothpaste.
