Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
FiByTheIcySea · 06/06/2010 23:25

flip thanks i'll check out ennell & at 3 holes!
momino G has not been V impressed with cows milk so far. you reminded me that's how we got DS converted from formula to all cows milk. G is still having 3 to 4 feeds a day plus snacks and meal.. so not sure how we'll get her off boobs DS is just horrid after drinking fizzy lemonade and eating party stuff. combo of party excitement and sugar causes all sorts of patience testing scenarios for me. i'm sure tomorrow will be better and definitely no harm talking to the doc. even if you get a prescription you don't have to use it right away.
Are there any good sites re C2-5K? i'm not sure where to start (after getting the shoes etc)!

FiByTheIcySea · 06/06/2010 23:45

belgina hugs for your LW shift.. hopefully it will be a straightforward run of births for a change xoxox

llareggub · 07/06/2010 07:04

Just a quick one - off to work today!

Re C25K: I used the thread on mumsnet for moral support and jumped straight in! I followed the Bupa 5K beginner plan which is much the same thing. THe first few weeks were horrendous but so worth it, I'm much fitter now. I got my huuuuuuuuuuge sports bra from Bravissimo and I wear a crop top over it for (I think) psychological support rather than physical! For me an ipod was a must.

Belgina: good luck this week, I hope all goes well.

flipflopsattheready · 07/06/2010 09:08

Fi - I remembered that I've bought most of my sports bras from www.lessbounce.com/, it was very good choice, advice and service but I haven't bought anything for a few years now.

momino - if you'd like to borrow my copy of Buddhism for Mothers you're very welcome - send me a message on FB.

belgina - hope work goes ok today, and that you find your NMC card and stuff!

runningmonkey · 07/06/2010 09:15

Just having quick read over brekkie.

belg yes was me re the cardigan - here its called 'bulky baby asymetrical cardigan' I think.

re the doll when my mum told me about it I was very and thought they were a bit scary and cabbage-patch like but she was telling me about how one of the daycare places she visits (works in early years ed) has a set and the babies love them. I was still a bit until A opened it up, infact she is mauling him right now!

flip sorry you had a bad night, teething is horrible isn't it

spangle nice to hear from you, hope scan goes well

saus glad you and DH have talked a bit. Don't make too many excuses for him though - would he go to see his GP or some sort of counsellor do you think?

fi well done on the weight - I can also recommend enell from my proper running days . If you know what size you are, I always got mine from here as they have a much bigger range than a lot of high street shops and their returns policies were pretty good if something didn't fit (I don't work for them btw!!)

got to go, A is after some book reading action.

smokeybacon · 07/06/2010 20:03

Blimey oh riley. So much to catch up on!

Sorry I've been AWOL for a while. I manage to log on briefly to MN, get distracted by all the talk of trolls, get tired and then go to bed without posting on the threads I meant to come on in the first place!

spangle hope the nuchal went ok today.

saus was and on your behalf to read your DH rant a few days back, but then happy to see that you have talked it through. Hope that things continue to improve both in the DH and (ahem) bum department.

momi echo everyone elses comments about the ADs. Hope the docs is fruitful on Weds.

fi I must confess I've not looked at your pics yet . But I will as they sound fab. I fear I will get . When do you put your visa apps in? And bloody well done on that weight loss too!

belgina hope the shift went well and your card has turned up.

ses you have not failed with the running. Your knees just aren't cooperating, thats all. Do be careful with them!!! As belgina said, trainers are so important. Running shops will analysis your gait to make sure you get trainers with the correct support in.My DH has dodgy knees that flare up every now and again too so he changes his trainers yearly and sometimes wears supports.

flip has that tooth appeared yet? Am willing it to come through so your nights can improve.

FiByTheIcySea · 07/06/2010 20:21

Thanks for the bra advice everyone. I really like the Enell ones but unfortunately they don't go up to my cup size luckily there is ONE manufacturer who does...Royce so i've ordered that one and hope it's ok... as it's the only option i've got! (unless i want to fork out for a custom enell)

I'm going to hunt out the c2-5k thread on here and next step is to go somewhere and get some running shoes.. still thinking I must be nuts with my huge boobs. According to the size charts I'm still a 32J

How was your LW shift belgina? I hope it wasn't as bad as you were expecting x

FiByTheIcySea · 07/06/2010 20:29

X post smokey knew I should have refreshed before posting! G was like your R just about a week or so before she decided to go it alone. I don't think R will take much longer so hopefully your back won't be permanently knackered! How long are your family over for? I'm very envious of their living in Canada! DH is finishing what they call our letter of intent... after we email it off we'll hopefully get a letter of support from the local Nova Scotia office (that we had a meeting with when we were over) in the area we hope to move to. As soon as they issue the letter of support we can go ahead and apply. Keep your fingers crossed they will issue the letter as without it we're a bit scuppered

smokeybacon · 07/06/2010 20:55

fi, I wasn't v clear was I.Its just my bro who is in Canada. Dad is in South Africa ( although he has hot footed it out to avoid the World Cup - everything has shut down apparantly for it!). My brother is in Whistler . He has just had his residency granted. He's only here for 10 days, dad for 6 weeks.

I'll keep everything crossed for your application. A letter of support from the NS office must be a great help, I'm sure.

And finally fi 32J????????????????????

flipflopsattheready · 07/06/2010 21:45

Wowee, Fi, 32J? I can see why you might be a little bit limited in your selection of sports bras!

FiByTheIcySea · 07/06/2010 21:57

32J I know but I am delighted to have shrunk a bit from early bf days.. my nursing bras are 34K
smokey your brother must be really chuffed! whereabouts is whistler?

flipflopsattheready · 07/06/2010 22:13

at Whistler....good skiing!

Fi, I topped out at 34HH/I, but fortunately have settled now at a FF or G - I thought that was plenty!

belgina · 07/06/2010 22:14

running Thank you for the link. I'm going to have to have a stab at it. I've nearly finished crochetting myself a top, but I need to get the hang of knitting so I can make something for DH. I don't think men and crochet go together somehow

flip and others. We've had the where do babies come from chat quite a while ago. It came up again today (Dd1 wanted to know what made my parents grandparents and it went on from that). Books really help to explain it all IMO. this is the dcs favourite, because it's fairly visual, has lots of pictures of babies, is quite matter of fact without being too graphical or vague. This one is nice too. But more funny.

I'm at the gat opening baby. Can't remember who it was and find that post back. Sorry Amazing how all our babies are just changing and growing so quickly.

My LW shift went OK. No normal delivery for me though, only an EMCS, but I got lots of faces by the theatre staff at my antics. Binning swabs/not finding stuff/generall bumbling around. In my defence: It was only the 2nd time in that theatre and 1st time on my own. I was also incredibly slow, but that's DH's fault because his snoring woke me up at 4.30 and after that I couldn't settle because it was light and too close to wake up time

Today is our 2nd wedding anniversary too. We've both worked and haven't done anything to celebrate it. In fact, we've not even seen eachother at all today

I'm sorry for not doing more NC. Just very tired today I think I really need to do something about DH's snoring soon.

SpangleMaker · 07/06/2010 22:28

Wow Fi 32J - impressive! Well done on the weight loss and I hope your C2 5K goes well.

Belgina how did your LW shift go?

smokey family visit sounds good - hope you get lots more time with both before they go back. I can just imagine R being a little charmer. How is the pg going?

Running I just took a look at those dolls. They do indeed look scary but I can imagine babies liking them. I'm sure H would but I don't know if I can bring myself to buy one!

Hello to everyone else.

Well the nuchal scan went really well - lovely wriggly waving baby (just the one!) with all low risk markers/measurements, and measuring slightly big for dates. The Downs risk from the scan is 1:2200 - will get proper results when she rings me with the blood test results on Wed morning.

And.... it's a girl!

I'm amazed they can tell at this stage... technically it's 90% probability but the sonographer seemed pretty certain (not rushing out to buy pink things though). I wasn't asked if I wanted to know last time so maybe they have a fancy pants new machine? I'm really pleased not least as we have a girl's name and were completely stuck for a boy's.

I now have to tell various family members, and work (eek!). I'm actually not looking forward to telling my DB nor my step-sis as both have been TTC for a while, and both SIL & step-sis have had MCs . I'm sure they will be happy for us but I think it'll make them a little at the same time.

SpangleMaker · 07/06/2010 22:43

belgina x posts. DHs and their snoring - grr! Hope you get a better night tonight, and that you can find somewhere nice to go with DH to celebrate your anniversary.

Off to bed for me. I'm at a training course in Leeds tomorrow but forgot to write down where it is. I think I remember the address and have had a look on multimap - hope it's the right place... if not I'll end up missing the course as by the time I get to a work PC to find out where it is/someone to ring it'll be too late and I'll feel like a right ninny .

smokeybacon · 08/06/2010 13:22

spangle at your results, both nuchal and the sex!! Am sure your family will be pleased for you. And you won't be able to hide it much longer!?

belgina happy anniversary to you. And a big shove to your DH and his snoring.

FiByTheIcySea · 08/06/2010 14:21

spangle how exciting they could tell you were having a girl & great results too. Hope you made it to the right place for your meeting today?!

belgina sorry you had a disappointing anniversary. Happy 2nd Wedding Anniversary xoxox Maybe you'll be able to do something together soon to celebrate? I hope your DH's snoring didn't keep you up all night for a second night running?!

runningmonkey · 08/06/2010 20:17

Evening all,

All this talk of c25k inspired me to get my trainers back out of the wardrobe. I am absolutely knackered! Managed 20 mins of run 2mins, walk 2mins though so feeling pretty chuffed with myself. Bet I'll feel it tomorrow though.

Fi I just got around to having a look at your pics. WOW! What a fabulous place, can see why you want to go there more permanently

spangle congrats on the scan and yay to finding out the sex too. How exciting Hope you managed to find the training course today.

Belg happy anniversary. Hope you can find the time to have a little bit of a celebration sometime soon.

hi to everyone else, hope everyone has had a good day

pulapula · 08/06/2010 20:51

spangle- so glad to hear the nuchal scan went well and that it looks like you have a DD on the way . IKWYM about telling people who are having difficulties TTC - I could tell my DSis was upset by my news when I was pg with S.

I have been working in London today and not seen the DCs at all as I left at 6am and was back after 8pm - a very rare thing. I am feeling a bit engorged and had to hand-express in the loo at St Pancras station tonight as I was leaking through my top. But I am wondering whether to stop BF S? He still has a feed when he wakes and when he goes to bed and sometimes after his daytime nap. But he was fine with his cup of cows milk today. He likes BF, but seems to enjoy playing with my nipples afterwards more and I would quite like to have my boobs back and into "normal" underwear. I really don't know what to do, which probably means I'm not ready to stop.

febes · 08/06/2010 21:16

Pula I'm also wondering how much longer I want to BF for. I really enjoy it still and would continue morning and night for a while yet but R bucks his body into 'feeding position' and gets all frantic if I don't whip them out and although he doesn't pull my top (much) its kind of the same thing so I end up feeding him once or twice in the day so 4 times a day in all. Its not the feeding that I don't like its the frenzy with which he wants it. I wonder how I will wean him when the time comes. I have also bought 2 new wired non BFing bras which are quite uplifting (38G). Its nice to beable to give him something he enjoys so much though. Weaning DD was really easy as I was already PG so my milk had changed and she gave it up without any hassle at 12 months when I was 19 weeks PG.

Spangle Lovely news about your healthy pink bean .

belgina · 08/06/2010 21:23

pula I think that you're probably right. If you felt like you definitely wanted to stop, you wouldn't have your doubts. I did go back to normal underwear with dd1 when the feeds went down to bedtime and possible morning time. I'll do the same again this time, but don't feel ready at the moment. C still seems to depend on my boobs quite a bit too It does make me worry about next week though, with my nights coming up. She tends to still need a dream feed (or she wakes at 1-2) and has a 4.30 feed to which I wont be able to give. I hope it'll work out

spangle Good news about your nuchal scan. Glad to hear your little bean is growing well.

running Good luck with your C25k

Thanks for all the happy anniversary wishes. We're going to the Midlands this weekend, so we might do something then.

Found my portfolio BTW. It's a bit late to do much with it now though. I hope the supervisor will understand it's a work in progress

essenceofSES · 08/06/2010 21:44

Spangle - congratulations Hope you're feeling ok and not too tired

BF - O seems happy with feeding on waking, at bedtime and (if!) he wakes up in the night so I'm back to ordinary bras
Oh and there's some v impressice norkage on this thread! I'm back to a 34E.

Belgina - I'm sure it shouldn't be a problem about your portfolio. At least you've got it!

Cto5K - good luck to everyone doing this. I really did enjoy the 10 days I did and am that I've had to stop. My knees are still painful though - even as I sit on the sofa typing this. I hope that once they're recovered I may try again but at a much slower rate.
I echo what Llare said about having an iPod or MP3 player.

Our boiler has broken for the second time in a month At least it's summer but it caused a mini flood in our downstairs toilet this morning which (amazingly!) DH didn't notice as he walked past it on his way out of the front door to work!

On a brighter note, O has slept through to beyond 5.15am for the last 3 nights. His molars (4!) seem just about through now so I guess that will have helped but I've also started giving him a snack and some water/cows milk when we get back from nursery before bathtime.

Right I have a few emails to do for work and a presentation to prepare for tomorrow morning for a room of 20 store managers...

flipflopsattheready · 08/06/2010 21:47

spangle - good news about your scan, and yay for a girl! Girls rock! Well, sometimes .

lol at all the running tales! Maybe I should be inspired and get my trainers out too. Maybe I'm too lazy though!

A is down to three feeds a day now (morning, evening and sometime in the night) so I've decided to wear proper bras. Big improvement, I look like I have a waist now.

pulapula · 08/06/2010 22:23

I would wear ordinary bras but i think they are all too small for me and I don't want to buy new ones until i've stopped and i know what size i am (as i do tend to shrink a lot cup-wise). I have worn them on the odd night out but i worry about mastitis if i was to wear an ill-fitting bra all day too.

Anyway, I've decided to carry on BF for now whilst S still wants to. I should make the most of my cleavage too, as when I stop i will no doubt return to an A cup (if i'm lucky) although i must say, much as I am impressed with some of the mega bossoms around here, I am quite happy with my (current) C cup.

SpangleMaker · 08/06/2010 22:51

Thanks for the good wished

Re bf I've always hoped I'd just know when to stop but I'm a bit now about how it will turn out with the pregnancy. Febes is that right, that your milk changes during pg ? I guess it must do to make colostrum for the baby? H still seems quite reliant on bf and I can't imagine him stopping at the minute, but maybe he will. I think it would be easier than tandem feeding TBH.

I am so missing 'proper' bras. I've just forked out for 2 more Anita underwired feeding bras - not particularly pretty and £££.
