....where we ditch the talk of babies/lack of sleep etc and concentrate on some Salient Social Planning

  • where to meet
  • when to meet
  • what to wear
  • what to drink
Who's up for it then ladies?

hi all
Slight problem....Unless I'm being utterly stupid, I can't really find any accommodation in york for just one night on the weekend of the 18th... Well, at least affordable anyway?!! Smile
I have however spoken to Claxton Hall Cottages. They would rather we booked their five rooms exclusively if we all have babies with us (understandable) and have dates in November that they could do this for. Means we get the run of the place of course.
It would have to be for two nights - but that's £140 per room. If we share rooms - it's £70, so not too bad. With some looking around we might even find somewhere cheaper...

So. What's the thoughts please ladies? RKD is away so we sort of need to make the decision without her i think?

I would love to see you all in three weeks, really i would, but I can't find a decent solution to the Ultimate Question of Where To Stay...
....Should we postpone til November????

x

I'm up for November; I can definitely do the first 3 weekends, and could probably manage the last weekend at a push if that suits everyone else.
I would also be happy to meet up for a day with anyone that is still determined to meet sooner (in York, or London). In fact, I can meet anyone in London or thereabouts almost any time as I have no life.
Round of applause for MummyElk for being proactive as well :)

I definitely can't do weekend of 12th/13th November as my birthday is on the 13th and my parents have said they will come down to Wales for that so I'm expecting to be spoilt Grin
but I'm still not sure I can make it to York from Wales very easily so go ahead and I'll see if I can make it to a south meet up......Bristol, Birmingham, London all much easier for me to get to.

SmacsGonePotty · 31/08/2010 08:15

ps in terms of accommodation November is a pretty dead month I'd be trying to get a decent discount on a block November booking - no wonder she was trying fob you off sign you up for November rather than September!

evitas · 31/08/2010 08:40

I'm in for November :) I can do all weekends in November apart from the fist one.

I'm late to this thread, I thought the MMMM was going to be down south and I am almost in Scotland so thought I wouldn't be able to make it... However, if it's in York I might be able to make it Smile

MummyElk · 31/08/2010 09:23

well 19th/20th nov is also a goer as far as i'm concerned..but as you say Smac, praps it's going to be too hard from wales? i'm not sure exactly.

Right. MMMM postponed then. Also means others might make it. I would very much like numbers within a couple of weeks in which case, because then I can do a decent cottage search.
Assuming for the moment it's about 12 people? I'll keep it in York since it seems to be a good location for most.

Sadly not me, I'm back at work full time in November so a trip to York from down south is probably a bit much. Also we may be moving!

MummyElk · 31/08/2010 11:28

boo bluey was looking forward to meeting you! we'll have to do a south leg too surely Smile

Afraid I'm out as already have plans for 12/13 Nov.

A southern meet-up would be good if we can manage it.

PacificDogwood · 01/09/2010 15:18

Shame about September meet-up falling through, but realistically I would have struggled too.

I'm in for November (we can only try):

I am glad there is still interest in meeting up at all Smile.

Bumping to keep the momentum this time round.

Do you think (as Smac suggested) we might get a discount rate if we book the whole place in November?

Aaand... anyone else? Or is it just the seven of us? Heckle? donttry? what about the following weekend? Is that any better for the numbers?

ValiumtheConqueror · 06/09/2010 18:57

I am definitely out.

Unless tyhere are still plans for a Southern breakaway meet.....should we get another thread????

ValiumtheConqueror · 07/09/2010 13:07

have answered my own question

MandaHugNKiss · 07/09/2010 17:45

Darn it. I have plans weekend of 13/14th and the following weekend as my birthday falls between them.

Stupid birthday. I don't even want to get any older!

BusyMissIzzy · 08/09/2010 08:38

Bumping this so that those who can't make the Southern MMMM don't end up getting left out! We should get the accommodation sorted soon.

FlipFantasia · 09/09/2010 20:04

I'm hoping to make the northern meet up but I can't stay over - will be on no pay by then and money is tight so just can't commit to a weekend away (we're in Ireland the weekend before that and then in the States for Christmas so travelling is already eating up our money at the moment...). I'll investigate the cost of train tickets and see what I can do...innit (as we say in Laandon town).

BusyMissIzzy · 13/09/2010 09:50

Bumping again... So, we don't quite have the numbers to book Claxton Hall Cottages, unless some people want a room to themselves (which would be more expensive). Melk, do you think they'd give us a better deal on the prices if we asked? Is there anyone else who wants to come who isn't on the list, i.e:

Melk
IWCAS
BMI
Dalrymps?
Evitas
sunshinesarah
PacificDogwood
Flip (not staying over)
Arcadie(doesn't need accommodation)

Also, is everyone happy with 2 nights? I'd prefer 1 night I think, but there seems to be a 2-night minimum on most places to stay. Whate does everyone else think?

FlipFantasia · 13/09/2010 10:32

Hello ladies

BMI thanks for all your great organising on this!

OK, so I'm looking at day train tickets and realised that I'm not sure what day(s) we're looking at - is it 12/13 nov or 19/20 Nov? Also, which would be the better day to be there, the Fri or Sat?

So far, the best day for train tickets would be Sat Nov 13th...but as always happens when I look at train tickets I'm amazed at how expensive they can be! Do people really pay over a hundred pounds for train tickets??

BusyMissIzzy · 13/09/2010 10:55

Flip I think those of us staying over will be definitely staying the Sat night, and maybe also the Friday, so the Sat would probably be the better day.

You're right about the train tickets though, they're stupidly expensive. Who pays that much??

sunshinesarahandco · 13/09/2010 11:32

gutted if its the 13th i can make it, my friend has just mocved her hen weekend from the 6th to then, awwwwww sorry guys, i am soo soo sorry, xxxx [sulks off in an huff]

PacificDogwood · 14/09/2010 22:00

This thread keeps falling off my active convos, sorry! Thanks for e-mailing me, BMI Smile.

I am happy to pay for 1 or 2 nights, and if it would allow us to book the whole place to ourselves could have room on my own although I'd rather be sociable. You lot, however, may deeply regret having to spend a night with Joe...

Alternatively, if there is anywhere smaller to stay, I could opt out altogether and invite myself to stay over at BIL's Grin if that helped.
