....where we ditch the talk of babies/lack of sleep etc and concentrate on some Salient Social Planning

  • where to meet
  • when to meet
  • what to wear
  • what to drink
Who's up for it then ladies?

Arcadie · 16/11/2010 20:40

And Melk I could fit myself with a tracker and then you could GPS me from your iphone. I know you've got one.

FlipFantasia · 16/11/2010 22:16

Am mad excited about Saturday! My train arrives just before noon so we shall traipse down to this Spurrier place and find you all...

Wookie I'll message you on FB as would love to have your number in case of any delays/getting lost in York/etc

'Fraid I won't be staying for dinner either as have booked a train back at half four.

While part of me wishes I could stay longer (am v Envy of the weekenders) I'm also very much looking forward to a train daytrip with DS...

[wanders off to google Spurriergate Centre and York in general]

TooBlessed · 16/11/2010 23:41

i am turning really green right now,why did i have to be in Norway? and miss all this,,,

Siamesecatwoman · 17/11/2010 07:04

Flip do you want to meet at the station and walk into town with me? I can't guarantee we won't get lost but I did live in York once, so I'm hoping being pregnant/ a mum didn't push that tiny bit of knowledge out of me! (it probably has. I used to get lost even when I lived there and worked in town :) )
Will fb you my number.

MummyElk · 17/11/2010 07:41

Morning has brought some clarity. Had a thought at 4....
Shall we save chilli til sat?
Rkd/wookie do you mind buying a couple pizzas? Then you can all eat a bit earlier and if I'm delayed you aren't all waiting...
Really sorry about the lateness. I was hoping to palm off the elk earlier but it seems I can't! Hmpf

WookieetheChew · 17/11/2010 08:57

I have a horrible sore throat which I suspect is going to turn into a cold. I'm hoping the worst of it will have passed by Friday, but am I at risk of infecting all of you ladies and your babies (PD? Anyone?)? Wahh! :(

Otherwise though, pizza plan sounds good Melk.

MummyElk · 17/11/2010 11:11

Get somemanuka honey down you wookie.
Have changed plans. In laws having elk. Have all day to get to York.
More later. Huzzah x

FlipFantasia · 17/11/2010 11:15

Wookie oh no! Vit C, lemsip, and taking it easy (well, as easy as you can with a baby Hmm). Really hope you're better by Friday - sending massive anti-cold vibes your way!

Siamese great idea about meeting at the station Grin. Have messaged you on FB.

evitas · 17/11/2010 14:48

Flip and Melk what time are you meeting at the station? My train arrives at 11.30?

Wookiee hope you get better!

Siamesecatwoman · 17/11/2010 15:14

Evitas - Flip and I are meeting in the station at 12 ish on Saturday. My train gets in at 11.52am.
Do you want to hang around and walk in with us? (where is your family going?)

PacificDogwood · 17/11/2010 18:30

Wookie, sorry to hear about your sore throat. I'd second the hot drink+honey/lemsip/Paracetamol suggestions. Or a stiff Hot Toddy Wink... hope you feel better soon.
Would you be prepared to PM me your mobile nr? Just in case?

Where can I meet up with you all? Around midday at the station? Or a bit later at Spurriergate??
I shall wear a white carniation in my lapel - not really, but how will I recognise you as I am a FB numpty luddite Blush?

Siamesecatwoman · 17/11/2010 18:59

Pacific - how are you getting into York from Db's? If you are driving it might be best to park and ride as York is crazy narrow streets and little parking. Most (all?) PnR buses stop near the station so come and join us there at just before 12?

Arcadie · 17/11/2010 19:33

Pacific - can I second Siamese's suggestions of a PnR - REALLY don't bring the Dogmobile into town. I can come meet you whereever/ whenever but station at 12 is eminently doable. Will PM you my nmber. We have mostly all swapped it on FB.
I look like a 34 yr old woman with bobbed hair who'll be pushing a Phil and Ted's with a bright red sleeping bag containing a little boy looking windchapped.
Alternatively, I'll be the one by the Starbucks stand in the station concourse.

WookieetheChew · 17/11/2010 20:13

Pacific I've emailed you my mobile number, and (as long as I'm there) you'll recognise me because I look the same as I did the last time we met Grin

Good news Melk, so are we go for chilli on Friday after all? Do Arcadie and I need to get something for Saturday tea at the shops? And what about some milk (for teas/coffees)?

PacificDogwood · 17/11/2010 20:28

Oh, thank you for contact numbers - they will seriously decrease the chance of me getting lost (but sadly, going by past experiences, will not eliminate that possiblity Blush).
I was thinking of PnRing anyway, but will park as close to York as I can get, coming from Flawith.
I think, 'see you at the station' sounds like a good plan to me Smile.

Arcadie · 17/11/2010 20:47

You'll come down the A19 I guess. At the junction of the A19 with the York north ring road ( A1237) there is a big old park and ride called Rawcliffe bar.

That puts you on line 2 green route which will put you near as dammit outside the station.

Get off at the station. Put Joe in buggy. Walk in through the main doors. TYurn slightly to your right. Spot Starbucks. Spot grinning idiot with a large filter coffee and cream. Introduce self.

Kein Problem mein LieblingsWunderschnitzel

PacificDogwood · 17/11/2010 21:05

Arcadie, I heart you: for your directions and your Schnitzeldeutsch Grin!

I seem to remember that I have parked there once before...

Siamesecatwoman · 17/11/2010 21:05

Are we all meeting at the station then? Good stuff that'll take the pressure off me to remember the way

So that's:
Siamese
Flip
Evitas
Pacific
Arcadie

At station at 12.

Meeting later? Or coming to station?;
Melk
Sarah
Wookie

Am I missing anyone?

BusyMissIzzy · 18/11/2010 11:51

Wow, this time tomorrow I'll be on the train...

Arcadie where is the best place to meet tomorow? Starbucks as well? And do you think we're best to check in at the cottage and then do a shop, or vice versa (I need to phone the cottage and they might want an idea of what time I'll be arriving)?

Possibly silly question: does anyone know if holiday cottages usually provide bath towels?

Arcadie · 18/11/2010 11:54

i think shop then cottage. BTW I have car seat for you in the car ready. Btw again I will have my lovely 3 DCs with me for shopping and dropping off at claxton. Will meet you at s'bucks at 1.40ish

BusyMissIzzy · 18/11/2010 12:01

Excellent. Will there be room for my case and buggy in the car as well? I really do appreciate your friend lending me the carseat. Remind me at the shops and I'll buy her a box of chocolates/bottle of wine as a thankyou.

Arcadie · 18/11/2010 12:11

She'll poss be there on Saturday at the Spurriergate so you may thank her yourself! (She's Cappuccinocarrie who was watching Simeon's birth live on the thread too!) And yes no probs about the case and buggy.

evitas · 18/11/2010 14:17

Fantastic! At Train station at 12
I think I'll try and leave our luggage at the hotel first, but the hotel is 7 minutes away from the station (if not I'll just leave them with the suitcases... )
Excited! I can't believe I'll meet you in 2 days!! :o

BusyMissIzzy · 18/11/2010 14:29

Melk and sarah, should we meet everyone at 12 at the station as well? We could park at the PnR that Arcadie linked to upthread (Grimston Bar?). I guess we can see what time we're up and ready on the Saturday.

sparklersarahandco · 18/11/2010 17:53
