....where we ditch the talk of babies/lack of sleep etc and concentrate on some Salient Social Planning

  • where to meet
  • when to meet
  • what to wear
  • what to drink
Who's up for it then ladies?

Where will we all meet? City centre? Our train arrives at 11.30am.

So excited (and nervous)!!

WookieetheChew · 14/11/2010 12:44

I was thinking the same thing evitas, it's getting close now, we should make proper plans. I think meeting in the city centre makes sense; Arcadie mentioned the Spurriergate Centre for coffee, so maybe we could be there from a certain time onwards (10.30? 11am?), depending when people are arriving. I'm not sure how easy it is to get to from the station.

Pacific I think lunch out might be better if there are lots of us. It means we don't have to transport everyone to the cottage, and gives us more room probably?

I don't know York at all, so I think we should defer to Arcadie and her local knowledge :)

sparklersarahandco · 14/11/2010 19:37

omg!!!!! 5 more sleeps! cannot wait to meet you all- ICWAS u have until lunch time fri to change your mind- i am driving you are welcome to come with us= have a huge estate car so plenty of room for you and the little guy! please consider!

BMI please could you post the address and postcode for me as will need to put in the sat nav- lol

Arcadie · 14/11/2010 20:09

OK. "Local knowledge from local people" coming....

What sort of time are you all arriving on the Friday? BMI I can come pick you up whenever you get in but I recall you saying it was about lunchtimeish.

Is it the Friday you're talking about meeting up in town or the Saturday?

If it's Friday and people are driving in then I'm guessing that those coming from far flung places like Scotland and Birmingham won't be there terribly early. At which point I'd probably recommend not meeting in city centre as otherwise you'll be paying for an astonishing length of time and it t'aint cheap. I'd go for an out of town place like monks Cross Starbucks here

If it's Saturday then yeah do it - Spurriergate Centre is slap bang city centre VERY walkable from train station (10 mins with a buggy if it's crowded) Those of you who are staying over at the cottage, rather than parking in town and paying a small fortune, you'd have to drive right past a park and ride station (Grimston Bar) [[http://www.york.gov.uk/parking/ride/3Grimston_Bar1/ here). Or the Slug and Lettuce in town (again easily walkable from Station) is also very BFing and baby friendly.

Sarah It's off the A64 on the way from York to Scarb.

Arcadie · 14/11/2010 20:10

sparklersarahandco · 14/11/2010 20:47

thank you arcadie,

i am planning on leaving here (nr birmingham) at lunch time so shoul dbe in your by 4! (hopefull)

WookieetheChew · 14/11/2010 22:05

Arcadie my train gets in at 1.40pm. I'm supposed to check in to the cottage between 2pm and 4pm. We could do a bit of shopping for supplies if you like, or you can just dump me at the cottage if you have other things to do.

I think that on the Friday we'll be mostly chilling at the cottage (will only be a few of us then), and meeting up in town with others on the Saturday. I'll FB my mobile number to everyone in case they need it.

TooBlessed · 15/11/2010 02:58

WookieetheChew · 16/11/2010 08:04

All sounds good Melk, I'm happy to do a shop if Arcadie is able to. Arcadie are you joining us for tea on Friday and/or Saturday? What about everyone else, are any day-trippers staying for Saturday evening meal?

evitas · 16/11/2010 11:23

Wookiee tahnks for asking, butI wont be staying for dinner on Saturday. I would love, but I think my family wants to go out for a meal.

x

Arcadie · 16/11/2010 13:09

I can take BMI / Wookie shopping. I'd love to come and eat with you chaps if that's ok. Fri and Sat if poss.

Don't know what time you're all headed out on Sun but I've got church til 10:30 -1 ish (Any of you who'd like to join me are of course welcome). Are you doing owt on Sun pm or just going home?

Arcadie · 16/11/2010 13:11

Oh and Blush at the address cock up. Good job Sarah asked or I'd have gone to the wrong place too. In fairness it's the same postcode though Grin so I could just have stood in the woods shouting "MeeeeeEEEEEEELK" and I'm sure someone would have answered!

Siamesecatwoman · 16/11/2010 14:05

Thanks for asking but I can't stay for tea as DH going out sat pm so he needs to pick me up from the station after the farcking football, so I'm heading off at 4 ish.
I can arrive anytime from 10 in York, what time are we meeting?
Also - Arcadie- which shops are in Spurriergate? Is it nx to the Viking centre or am I very wrong?

And if we have time and money to spare we could do this ;)

PacificDogwood · 16/11/2010 14:20

I'll bring some breakfast cereals, milk, a cake or maybe two if I get round to it. And wine Wink. I can bring a shop-bought lasagne or pasta bake or summat if you want.

I don't 'have' to be back home until Sunday bedtime so would have to leave @ 4pmish Grin.

Arcadie · 16/11/2010 14:21

The Spurriergate centre is on CONEY street. It's almost in the very centre of town . It's just down the road from Boots and WHSmith and across the street from Specsavers and Thomas Cook.

There's also the Christmas Market going onm in the centre of town this weekend which means fun filled browsing (lots of german market stalls PD) but it will be pretty rammed in town!

Siamesecatwoman · 16/11/2010 14:37

ah thanks Arcadie - have googled it now and it is where Im thinking - just not that building! Good call - i went to an art thing there once it was ace :)

sparklersarahandco · 16/11/2010 15:09

ooohhh arcacdie i do love a good market- cant beat it!

cannot believe how close we are now!

WookieetheChew · 16/11/2010 16:26

My train home is at 2.15pm on the Sunday.

So, what do we need from the shops?

MummyElk · 16/11/2010 20:21

Grin at "MEEEELLLLLLKKKKKKKKK" i'd pay good money to hear that from a distant wood "keep shouting RKD i don't know what you look like apart from facebook photos I'm just folloowwwinnnngggg your voiiiccceeee" "no don't worry it's just a scratch......."

v excited at the market marlarky! HOW lovely.

Friday night we have:
Melk
Wookie
Sarah.
RKD

Sat night we have:
Melk
Wookie
Sarah
PD.
RKD.

Yay to teabags etc sarah i knew you'd come up trumps.
pd if you can bring chocolate, some wine and some cakeage than that should satisfy the sweet toothness.

I wonder.....is it too boring to do jacket potatoes on sat night? Cos there will probably be chilli left over? Or shall we regroup on sat am and we can always buy a chicken then?

p.s. bad news is... i can't leave bristol til 4. so we are looking at my ETA as 8pm. SORRY Blush partic since i'm bringing dinner. does that mess things up?

OP posts:
Arcadie · 16/11/2010 20:39

8pm for dinner??

I'll bring crisps and dips to gorge keep hunger pangs at bay.

Also 4hours from Brzzle to York on a Friday night? I fear you may be a little longer than that.... (Unless you're training it?)
