We filled up a thread without even noticing!

Primary school outcome for dd today . They say that the emails will be sent out by 6pm (though may take longer to get through to us).

Good luck csws!!
50ft, probably tiredness, then. That's a reason, too. I just think there is always a reason for them to misbehave.

Ronshar, I've kept everything cool since I noticed that. He slept much better last night in just pj trousers and a sleeveless top with window cracked open. He still slept with me... but slept more. He woke about every 1-2 hours for a few minutes just to shimmy around and cry a bit and show he wasn't comfortable, then was up from about 2.30-3.45 playing with his feet, walking all over our bed, playing with his turtle star light, I kept laying him back down, putting him in his bed...etc etc etc. He finally went back to sleep at around 3.45. But I actually slept for an hour at a time, which is a huge improvement. I feel much better today.

He's with cm today (no other kids today or tomorrow) and totally happy, playing. No more fever or feeling poorly. Just spotty and (I think) a bit itchy. Restraining and giving the Piriton really helps him feel better. You can only give it 2x/day,though.
About 2/3 of spots have crusted over. I just feel so sorry for him!

Had mild panic and couldn't fall asleep for a bit last night thinking about hte possibility of getting shingles as he's all over me with open blisters...etc.

aubergenie good idea about the police officer visit!

StarExpat · 29/04/2010 10:46

csws can you do your sneaky trick and add an extra post to the old thread to link this one?

CantSleepWontSleep · 29/04/2010 12:43

Sadly I can't star because my machine was off when the thread filled up. People will twig eventually!

Yay for getting a bit more sleep at least.

You can't catch shingles from CP btw - it's a myth.

OP posts:
StarExpat · 29/04/2010 12:59

Oh GOOD! ROFL I looked it up online and sure enough all day I've been feeling a psychosomatic "pain and burning" near my spine on my back!! . I am such a textbook hypochondriac! lol.
Feel badly now. he likes to rest his cheek on my cheek sometimes in sleep and I kept putting him back on my chest or arm because I didn't want to get shingles!

CantSleepWontSleep · 29/04/2010 15:27

I guess everyone's a bit slower than I thought to realise where we are hypochondriac star .

OP posts:
StarExpat · 29/04/2010 15:33

lol. I wonder how long it will take them... We'll have to periodically bump to help them out.

CantSleepWontSleep · 29/04/2010 18:35

Yay - got the school we wanted!
Dd not so happy as it means that she won't go to school with a couple of her friends from the village that she thought she would. But she'll get over it!

OP posts:
StarExpat · 29/04/2010 19:08

That's great!!! So, which school is it? do you have a link for us? Glad you got your choice!

We should have called this the csws and star thread

pepperrabbit · 29/04/2010 19:46

ha ha! found you!

pepperrabbit · 29/04/2010 19:49

Glad Q had a slightly better night star, should be improving each day now.
CSWS, hurray for getting the school you want. It's such a strain waiting.
I've just realised that as DS1 is Y2 next term I'll need to start applying for Junior school (ours are separate infants and juniors instead of all through primary's)

50ftQueenie · 29/04/2010 20:01

Doh! I kept looking at my threads and nothing, nothing.... Then I remembered!!!! Ronshar posted the last post on the thread! So here I am.

Yay for the school CSWS. DD will indeed get over it and make new friends very quickly. DS did.

Pepper - DS is in year 2 this year so junior in September. His school is all linked but it's horrible to think my baby will be in JUNIOR school! Eeek! How did the scan go? Any wiser?

Star - I was a terrible hypochondriac as a teen... so much so I have a really good layman's medical knowledge..... Drs often ask if I am a nurse. I hope you don't get shingles, I've not had it, but apparently it's not pleasant. Glad Q is feeling a bit better, must be a relief. My DS has been better behaved today, apart from the run up to bedtime.... which adds fuel to my theory it is tiredness! However, he was teased a bit at school yesterday over a girl. He's very close to a girl in his year and a couple of others were winding him up about it. Made me feel a bit shit because DH and I wind him up about it too. I'm the mean mummy!

pepperrabbit · 29/04/2010 20:19

ah well, the scan was ok, I get the results on the 10th next time I see the consultant. Never had a CT scan before, very odd they inject a contrast dye and he said I'd feel like I was having a hot flush, taste metal, and feel like I was wetting myself..... he said something about feet as well, but frankly, the sensation of wetting yourself in public focusses all of your attention!!! I did get a nice cup of tea after.
Knackered today, have a bit of a cold, DD up at 4.30am (lost dummy - I found 8 in her cot this evening )and been to work which was busy as it's end of the month.
Have dibbed out of going to a Jamie Oliver party tonight but just too tired.
Hoping election debate will send me to sleep.

CantSleepWontSleep · 29/04/2010 20:20

Yes how was scan pepper?

Have put a link to the school on the wall of our fb group star, as don't want to post it here.

Yay for you finally finding us too!

OP posts:
CantSleepWontSleep · 29/04/2010 20:20

Ah x post! Ha-ha about election debate!

OP posts:
pepperrabbit · 29/04/2010 20:25

and I meant to say 50ft, DS1 was not sleeping well - still awake at 10.45 the other night - he's still 5 FGS. And then really fractious and yesterday he came out of school literally sobbing. It finally emerges that 2 of the boys are being mean to him - one hitting him (the foster boy next door so that's a whole world of and another one calling him names. Poor poppet. I just marched him back into the classroom as I'm not having him emerging distraught.
DH had a word with the teacher this morning and she said she'd sort it today... she's quite scary as a grown up so I imagine her cross would be a bit like having the police in giving a talk!
We'll see tomorrow when I drop DS1 off.
How do you cope with all these things when all 3 are at school.

CantSleepWontSleep · 29/04/2010 20:30

When all 3 are at school the older ones deal with the younger ones problems by looking evilly at the younger bullies, so you only have to deal with issues for the older one.

OP posts:
pepperrabbit · 29/04/2010 20:32

perfect! and having them close together means most of the time, most of them will have a sibling in the same school

50ftQueenie · 29/04/2010 20:35

Pepper - I'm such a ditz. I totally missed that you were having a CT scan. How odd is that wetting yourself sensation?! I remember squeezing my pelvic floor for all I was worth! And doing a very face as I focused all my energy of not letting go of any wee! Poor DS1. Hope it gets sorted. DS was bullied a tiny bit in year R and that was sorted out with a quick reminder that it wasn't nice to call people names. Bless 'em, so innocent. DS's teacher is fearsome too and has a reputation for being a dragon.

Ekka · 29/04/2010 20:36

Found you!

Pepper, sorry to hear about DS1 . I hope his teacher sorts things out quickly. I'm dreading having to deal with that.

CSWS, congrats on the school. What a relief for you all. I'll take a look when I can get my fb working properly.....

Star - I never google things as I can convince myself in seconds that I have some major fatal disease..... And now I have the kids I can worry over

Dd is loving school - she goes in without a backwards glance and seems to have had fun when I collect her (though she's not always clear about what she's done all the time!). Yesterday when asked if she'd had fun she announced 'No mummy, there were too many children, but we did some gardening and that cheered me up' . I think she'd found it a little overwhelming with all the kids there.... I am a little disappointed though, despite all the threads on mn, I've yet to see any Boden mummies waiting to collect the kids ..... Good thing, my wardrobe couldn't stand the strain!

Ds is turning into a real chatterbox - he copies everything we say at the moment. Mind you his take on the world is rather amusing - we were in the shops the other day looking at the fish counter and he said - 'Fish, mummy. Fly, fly' much to the amusement of all the other shoppers!!!

StarExpat · 29/04/2010 20:37

Oh goodness. I don't want ds to ever go to school now. Glad the scan was ok pepper. Clever you two finding us! We were just starting to form a clique . Speaking of, whenever I look on active convos, for some reason it drives me nuts seeing those "shine" threads. I've never opened one, so I can't really talk but they are always there and even though I've never gone in, they grate on my nerves... Sorry, I've been thinking about it every time I look lately.
I must be about to get my period if even something like a thread on mn is annoying me! haha!
Q screamed for soooo long tonight. He had a blast with the cm. DH is at a parent's evening tonight so Q and I watched 3 episodes of big barn farm on cbeebies iplayer online. He loves that show.

There are some pics of him at the end of my album 18.5 months on my fb page with chickenpox. He has about 8 more on his face at the moment and loads on his torso and scalp. But other than that, he's alright.

50ftQueenie · 29/04/2010 20:38

CSWS - That's what I used to do for my brother. In senior school nobody picked on him because he once mentioned that I was going to kick boxing (I went to watch.... once) so that was it. I was double 'ard. Um..... not. Had a look at the school. I like the duck....

StarExpat · 29/04/2010 20:44

lol about fish fly!
Glad dd is liking nursery so much, Ekka She's a real sweetie.

The only other things he still says are trees, birds, cheese, dada, mama, no, OH he can now say "mummy". It's like "muuuMI" so cute! and daddy. He says NO a LOT.

I had a little chat with our SLP (you call it a "SALT") and she has a toddler a few months older than Q and she said he JUST started saying stuff this month and that Q sounds fine. I know he is... it's just nice to have confirmation from a professional

Ekka - I thought about shingles this morning... if people did easily get it from chickenpox, then wouldn't a lot of mothers and fathers of kids with chickenpox be coming down with shingles? Then csws said it was a myth... makes sense.

heather1980 · 29/04/2010 20:46

hello ladies, long time no chat!!
alex is coming on leaps and bounds, he was so cute tonight, he waved at the tv and said night night sssssss (simpsons! ) coz he knows when that finishes at 6:30 it's bedtime.
he's turned into quite the bully though and has a real thing about pulling dds hair, she is not impressed, i don't think he knows quite how strong he is and they fight like cat and dog. god knows when what will happen when the new baby comes, WW3 may well break out lol.

we had our scan yesterday and found out the new baby is a BOY! dd isn't impressed as she wanted a sister but there's not a lot i can do about it now

CantSleepWontSleep · 29/04/2010 21:24

Oh bravo heather. I saw on fb that you'd had it, and nearly asked the sex, but then i thought i remembered that you'd said that you weren't finding out - doh me!

star - still no words except 'mummaaa/mummy' here, but I think that he's making a few more sounds in his babbling, so I still think that we'll get there.
Spotted your CP pics earlier - poor mite!

I am on shine threads, having got into an argument about them last week(ish).

Yay for dd loving school Ekka. My dd still doesn't often tell me what she's done each day.
My fb has been playing up a bit tonight too.

OP posts:
heather1980 · 29/04/2010 21:46

csws- we weren't going to find out as we didn't with the other two, but curiosity got the better of me! i was a little surprised as we thought it was a girl and i was looking forward to all the cute girly outfits but i'm not really bothered either way, and boys do love their mummies!
