We filled up a thread without even noticing!

Primary school outcome for dd today . They say that the emails will be sent out by 6pm (though may take longer to get through to us).

Not necessarily pistachio - we haven't seen myjob, ronshar or hmm yet either!

here for my thread.

Ah, good to know that I've not totally lost the plot then heather! How funny that you thought it was a girl and it's a boy. I'm convinced that this one will be a boy, and if I wasn't likely to already be lying down then you'd be able to knock me down with a feather if it turns out to be a girl!

Anyone good with IT stuff? Dh has broken his brand new netbook by powering down while it was still installing the operating system so now he's sulking downstairs and I've retired to bed to escape his massive grump at himself

heather1980 · 29/04/2010 22:14

you know what, i have been wrong all three times regarding the sex! i was convinced dd was a boy and had to ask the midwife twice what sex she was to be fair though i was exhausted after her birth as she came out at a funny angle.

ronshar · 29/04/2010 22:19

I see just because I get the last post you run off and hide yourselves.
Great news Heather.
Pepper, wetting yourself in the CT room. Not a good look.
Star good news that Q is getting a bit better. Stop going on goggle medical stuff.

CantSleepWontSleep · 29/04/2010 22:42

Ekka - dh could fix the netbook if he had it in front of him, but there's no standard solution because there are too many variables as to what it might be running. He says 'that was a bit silly'.

Ekka · 30/04/2010 06:25

That's the polite version of what I said csws! Luckily dh found a solution by about midnight .

StarExpat · 30/04/2010 10:56

re your mn fight csws. I think that poster is just very full of herself and spends more time than anyone on mn. I don't know why I hate seeing her thread titles. it's a bit childish, but I look to see what's in active convos and see those and cringe.
The school looks great, btw.

Glad dh got the laptop fixed, ekka.

Congrats on another ds heather!

Pistachio - I love that your ds says "zip". What a cute and random word!!

CantSleepWontSleep · 30/04/2010 17:33

Blimey - has everyone lost the thread again today?

Off to pudding club tonight, so won't be around later.

I'm not happy about this fb twitter sharing thing by the way. Not happy at all.
I know MN is a public forum... but for people who choose to use MN. And under our MN names. If an RL friend who is an fb friend links it... I just like the idea of this being anonymous to others (not you ladies of course). Having the fb/tw links only makes it cross over more to rl.

CantSleepWontSleep · 30/04/2010 17:45

I really don't get what all the fuss is about I'm afraid star. It just means that you can do something with one click that would previously have take 2 or 3. No biggie afa i'm concerned.

Ha ha I found you!

Honeymoonmummy · 30/04/2010 22:02

Hope you all OK. HAd to stay over at a hotel last night and Tues night with this job, DH said Pops gettinig really clingy Got home just in time for bedtime tonight.
Need to be in London with work on Tues, but cant persuade DH to come too with Pops (he doesnt work on TUes) so will prob travel down on TUes AM and come back Tues evening. Won't be having lunch break but if anyone around Farringdon area at teatime...

ronshar · 30/04/2010 22:12

Star I agree. I say stuff on here that I so wouldnt want repeated in rl. Thats why I use mn. If my family and friends see me on fb it wouldnt take a genius to recognise my mn name.
It means I will have to namechange and my imagination really isnt that great. Hence the ronshar to begin with.

I am very distrusful of outside parties having my private details. Especially with out my permission.

Sorry HMM not in London for ages.
It is very normal at this age to get very clingy W is the same.

CantSleepWontSleep · 30/04/2010 23:31

But why would any of your friends or family see you on here on fb?! The only way that would happen would be if you posted a link on your page (and even that would only link them to a thread, not to a particular post on it).

Pudding club yummy!

OP posts:
StarExpat · 01/05/2010 05:30

No, I disagree csws. People wouldn't think to do it so automatically before. Now, just anyone could see a thread and there's the button, so quick and easy just link it to their fb... why not? It's there, it's easy, and it's fun! With fb circles so big...etc this could definitely overlap into rl quite quickly. I'm not usually anti technology changes and I'm open and accepting of things. I just don't like this. I think some people post personal stuff like in relationships...etc to get support.

CantSleepWontSleep · 01/05/2010 09:18

I think we'll just have to agree to disagree on this one then. But if you don't want your friends to see anything on fb, then don't post there.

OP posts:
StarExpat · 01/05/2010 17:59

i post stuff I dont mind my fb friends seeing on fb. fb circles are so big and always suggesting new friends... just too much chance of intersecting. oh well. c'est la vie

CantSleepWontSleep · 01/05/2010 18:04

No no - I think you misunderstood my last post. I meant don't post any MN links on fb, and then your friends won't see any.

OP posts:
StarExpat · 01/05/2010 19:29

True.... but someone else could post a link... and then one of their "friends" might be mine - as fb circles are sooooo large... and someone who may not usually mn might recognise my situation (hypothetical, I'm not posting anything personal right now... just thinking of people on relationships threads who post very sensitive information...etc). Yeah, they could do it before, but now it's so easy and the f and t buttons are there, so why not... it will become a much more popular thing to do. I won't be doing it because I think it's a bit odd. fb is a page where I show who I am and my personal info. MN is a place where I have an anonymous name, no pics and prefer to stay anonymous (except with this group).
It's not a huge deal, just overlaps social networking sites with an anonymous chatboard and it feels odd.

pepperrabbit · 01/05/2010 20:29

evening.
Not sure i have enough functioning brain cells to follow that path star, in fact I hadn't even noticed the linky things till you mentioned it !
So I won't worry too much....
I did lots of gardening today as the rain held off, feel much better for having excavated weeded the flowerbed. Well, half of one side of the flowerbed...
Might have buggered my wrist up a bit though but I can't just sit and watch the weeds take over again.
House is a tip. proper proper tip, too tired to care sort it out tonight though!
Shall watch Dr Who on Sky+.

pepperrabbit · 01/05/2010 20:30
