A brand spanking new thread where we can chat about the state of our eggs, SWI, our veg patches and any other topic we fancy

Wedding was fabulous and Suffolk was gorgeous although it's a long way for a lot of our family who are based in the North West so we're looking for a campsite more in the Midlands for the next trip.

ninja · 15/06/2010 14:29

wow - that sounds great.

DebiTheScot · 15/06/2010 20:58

The funniest thing happened to me today. We were round at one of ds1's pre-school friends. ds1 and his friend were playing upstairs and after a while his friend came down with something in a sealed package that she wanted open. When the mum realised what it was she leaped up in embarassment. It was a sex toy from Anne Summers! She was mortified but I can't stop giggling like a school girl every time I think about it.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 15/06/2010 21:25

ha ha ha Debi, that's so funny!

DS can't get out of his car seat as I pull the straps v tight. I haven't made his lips turn blue yet, so I guess they're not too tight

DS is now telling me when he has done a poo. Does this mean anything? He's quite happy to walk around with it in his nappy and he only tells me after the event and not before.

I remember DD1 coming down after I'd been to a (my one and only) Ann Summers party with deely boppers on her head made from sparkly penis's

M tells me when she's done a poo - I think it's a start but could still be a while

DebiTheScot · 16/06/2010 10:11

Lol ninja. You probably don't watch Big Brother but if you do does the Irish girl in it have the same name as your dd1?

I also found ds2 had ot his arms out of his carseat straps for the 1st time yest. Didn't spot it till I'd stopped so thnakfully it was only a short journey.

DastardlyandSmugly · 16/06/2010 10:51

DD also tells me when she's done a poo. At nursery she tells the carers when someone else has done a poo too.

ninja · 16/06/2010 19:32

So she does!! (Just googled it )

Does she pronounce it with a 'w', that's the southern way. Ours is pronounced 'keeva'

Well remembered.

MelT76 · 16/06/2010 20:01

Hi ladies

Not been on for ages, what with work and studying. But am off work at the moment as I broke my left leg and tore the ligaments in my right ankle a few weeks ago. So I've been able to catch up with you all, sort of!

Congrats Fanny.

Am feeling a little bit down today, what with not being able to walk and get out of the house. My mum is looking after DS so I only get to see him for a few hours a day.
And my friends little boy (2 weeks older than DS) has just been taken to hospital after covering himself in boiling water. The worst thing is wanting to help but not being able to. I don't even know how bad he is.

Sorry for all the bad news after being away so long, butI know how lovely you all are!!

DastardlyandSmugly · 16/06/2010 20:32

Mel what a tough time you're having poor you. Am shocked about the little boy you know as well - poor thing, hope he's OK.

DebiTheScot · 16/06/2010 21:43

Hello mel I saw your foot photos on facebook but couldn't remember who you were on here (although it's quite obvious really!)
It looks realllllly sore and must be such a pain in more ways than one.
Your poor friend. My colleagues daughter poured boiling water on her chest a few weeks ago and he said she was in a lot of pain for the 1st day or 2 but healed remarkably quickly.

ninja I remembered asking about your daughters name when I saw it on here or fb ages ago, I love Irish and Scottish Gaelic names (although wasn't allowed to call ds2 Ruairidh). The girl on BB pronounces it Keeva too.

CappuccinoCarrie · 16/06/2010 21:49

to you mel, that sounds rubbish! We're friends on fb but your news didn't appear on my newsfeed...I don't understand technology!

I'm here procrastinating from that which I ought to be doing...must not come back til i've typed up some minutes. will not. i'm off now. bye.

MelT76 · 17/06/2010 07:31

Update - he was sent home from hospital late last night, they don't think it's going to scar so that's good. Turns out it wasn't too much water, she was heating a bottle of milk in a jug and he climbed up the kitchen cupboards and pulled it over himself!!

I am going to get outside to sit in the sun today

Hopefully · 17/06/2010 07:39

Glad the little boy isn't too badly hurt Mel, and poor you with the leg!

Am desperately convincing myself I'm PG, despite being a week or so before AF and having no symptoms . Hey, it passes the time

Am v excited though - going to bournemouth today to buy a sewing machine and possibly a serger (the machine that makes the neat edges on shop bought clothes) - am planning on making a lot more of DS and my clothes, and DP's, if he'll let me...

I didn't think that DS knew when he'd pood, but I've noticed that if I ask him if he's doing one when he is, he'll shake his head very vigorously then grin, because he knows he's lying. Don't think we're anywhere remotely near potty training though - am vaguely hoping he'll be ready next summer so we can do it when it's warm, but I'm happy if it takes longer - T is not the most developmentally advanced child I know!

Pacita · 17/06/2010 10:47

hopefully crossing my fingers really hard (they are turning blue) on the pregnancy front. It'd be lovely to have you along in the journey.

After some initial weeks of NO symptoms whatsoever, I now find myself incredibly nauseous and puking with abandon. I have also booked an appointment tomorrow to have my lump looked at. I bet it's nothing and they'll tell me I'm a big wuss and to go home.

Mel, glad the boy is ok. It did make me wince when I read it.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 17/06/2010 12:32

Hi Mel. Sorry to hear about the foot and leg - ouch. How did you do it? Also glad to hear your friends ds is relatively ok.

I've got my fingers crossed for you too Hopefully. Is a serger also an overlocker? My sis is into her sewing. I would like to be but I have no natural ability when it comes to textiles.

I had to laugh at your puking with abandon Pacita It can be comforting to have symptoms, but nausea and being sick is the pits. I found peppermint tea helped settle my stomach.

I've been charting my cycle this month and everything seems to be running smoothly. Now all I have to do is shift some more weight and then swi in a few months time. Well, that's the theory ........

CappuccinoCarrie · 17/06/2010 13:18

hopefully that sounds like fun! I used to be into sewing and made the bridesmaids dresses when I got married, but I'm the sort of person who likes a one-off project rather than an ongoing thing like aiming to make regular clothes, so total respect to you!

AF is due on Monday. I'm sure I'm not pg, I have my usual PMT symptoms and my endo pain was so bad this month that I wouldn't have thought anything could survive in there. But there's that teeny tiny part of me that says I could be pg. DH likened it to buying a lottery ticket. You know you won't win, but as you hold your ticket on a saturday night and the balls start rolling you realise that there's the smallest of chances that you could win. But then you're not surprised when you don't. Quite an impressive analogy from someone who's never done the lottery!! Thankfully the distraction of the extension has made this month's tww super fast.

Hopefully · 17/06/2010 18:56

ILTMIMI a serger is an overlocker, yes. I think serger is the american name for it, which for some reason I've adopted . I'm so excited with my new machines! And they cost less than I was expecting (like, £250 less in total!) so I can actually afford some fabric to sew on them too . Had a lovely day out, went to the beach in bournemouth after sewing machine shop (which was very very good, would thoroughly recommend it if anyone's in the market for a machine). T cried when he went in the sea - it was a bit colder than he was expecting! But he recovered admirably and spent the rest of the day merrily burying the tent pegs for the wind break.

Carrie, ILTMIMI and Pacita thanks for the kind thoughts! I have no idea at all whether I am pg (doubt it, TBH, am increasingly convinced that something isn't quite right, possibly cervical healing), but am determined not to let it get me down and just get to the doc's as soon as possible for someone to check my recovery from repair surgery.

Meglet · 17/06/2010 20:07

bookmarking.....

MelT76 · 18/06/2010 09:15

ILTMIMI I was hanging out washing and decided that it would be quicker to step over our 2' high wall instead of go around it. I ended up not putting the rest of the washing out and spending 6hrs in A&E. Won't be doing tht again!

Hopefully wishing you the best with TTC,don't to too much sewing that it doesn't leave time for TTC tho

Have mostly spent this week trying to decide where we are going to get married. DP want Las Vegas, and whilst I like that idea (means we won't have to invite all the family we don't want or haven't seen for years) I quite fancy Central Park, New York. Mmmm decisions, decisions.

For all of you that are thinking of Toilet training, Sainsbury's have Huggies pull ups for £2.49 at the moment. I stocked up

DastardlyandSmugly · 18/06/2010 10:09

Mel I got married in New York at City at the City Clerks Office and then we had our reception in Soho House. It was absolutely fab (there's some pics on profile if you're interested).

Can I ask those of you who are toilet training how it's going and how much your DCs understand? I still think it's too early for DD.

I got her nursery report yesterday. Apparently she is an exceptional kid. Her key worker hasn't seen a child as bright for a long time and kept telling me how much work we need to do with her to nurture this. I had realised she was clever, as she definitely thinks she's at least 4 like DS, but was shocked at how much her key worker thinks of her. Am so proud of both of them - they really are lovely kids.

Debs75 · 18/06/2010 14:33

The only potty training we are doing is to let Robyn go with us to toilet so she knows what happens and to let her have access to her potty. She will happily sit on it but has only done 1 wee on it.
She does know when she has done a poo which is a good sign.

Mel Well that was clever wasn't it Hope you feel better soon.

DastardlyandSmugly · 18/06/2010 15:13

Effy knows when she has done a poo, and when her friends have too. She comes to the toilet with us and will sit on her potty for a few seconds but not do anything. She hates the little toilet seat thing - cries every time. I've also started showing her the poo in her nappy as someone told me that, because when you change them you always just pack it away, they get freaked out when they first see it. I did it with DS too.

becaroo · 18/06/2010 15:23

hey hey...am back from the wilds of wiltshire!!

Well, this last week has been interesting!!! Toby came down with a 40 degree temp on saturday evening and was crying inconsolably and couldnt keep pain meds down

Sent to A&E....tonsilitis. Wouldnt give me ABs though So, to walk in centre on sunday 2 hours before ds1's birthday party (for 14 kids!!) Sent us back to A&E as even ibuprofen wasnt keeping his temp down and thank goodness got a sensible sister who sent us to the NEMS nurse who gave him some ABs.

Got home at 2.30pm. Got the keys to the village hall at 3pm. Kids and parents arrived at 4pm. If it hadnt been for the help of my parents and PIL it wouldnt have been possible.

He was quite poorly all sunday and sunday night. I was pretty exhausted by this point. Had to decide on monday morning if we were going to go to center parcs at longleat (ds1's birthday surpirse). We finally decided to go at 9.30am on monday morning as it gave out a good week weather wise and toby was tolerating the ABs well.

Anyway, had a great time. Toby slpet more or less the whole way there. He really picked up from tuesday and enjoyed himself. ds1 loved it so much he wants to go back next year! Dh and I are exhausted!!!

phew! that was a long post.....sorry the leg is still not too good, Mel x

hopefully fingers crossed for you x

Love to all x

DastardlyandSmugly · 18/06/2010 15:50

bec sorry to hear Toby has been unwell and glad he's on the mend.
