A brand spanking new thread where we can chat about the state of our eggs, SWI, our veg patches and any other topic we fancy

MrsA She did get to choose the language but had to do a language IYSWIM. I hated doing languages at school and would of just been a right PITA if I had to do it to GCSE. Now I really wish I knew some language other then English.
You're right she shouldn't be forced into it.

Robyn is still being cl9ngy and when I held friends 10 week old she screamed as if I had deserted her. SEptember is going to be fun.

digitalgirl · 10/06/2010 22:13

Hello all - no news from fanny?

I have news. I got my period today. First one since miscarriage 2 months ago and it bloody hurts! Have had acupuncture today in a bid to regulate my cycles and am feeling positive about the future. I found out that we should apply for ds's nursery place at the local primary school this September, as he will be eligble to start Sep 2011 (aug birthday)!

I know it's only 2.5 hours and plenty of you already send your children to private nursery but it just seems to have come around so quickly.

So apart from mourning the babyhood of my pfb I'm thinking this could work out quite nicely for our ever lengthening gap between siblings. If dc2 ends up taking another 6 months to conceive then I'll be just starting maternity leave when ds starts at nursery meaning I get to do pick ups and also get 2.5 hours to catch up on lost sleep spend time with the baby.

meglet you sound like you're coping very well. Your dc are so very lucky to have you as their mum.

mrsa so sweet that c has a special friend. Ds isn't particularly keen on children the same age as him, but is totally smitten with my little brother (his uncle) who's 6yo.

CappuccinoCarrie · 10/06/2010 22:56

Wow DG that has come round quick. My eldest child hasn't started nursery yet and here you are thinking about our 1 year olds! DD is going to nursery in a school and I didn't have to put her name down til the term before. Crikey on her first day I had better put DS's name down

When she does afternoons I'm looking forward to the sleeeeeep while DS naps, but when she moves to mornings DS will be 2 1/2 so its high time he got some of his mummy 121. Except I plan to scupper that with another baby

The endometriosis pain has been so bad the last two days

DS was comedy today. DD has been learning her numbers by looking at bus numbers. We saw a bus today and I asked what number it was, DS said 'for-tee-three' really clearly! Would have been more impressive if it hadn't been a number six

Really really hope Fanny is ok.

Sounds like a plan digi.

DS starts pre-school in Jan (he was 8 days too late for a Sept start!) Apart from me having a wobble about him starting so young, I realised it could work out well if all goes to plan with ttc. He would be settled in pre-school by the time the baby arrives. Mind you, lets face it, when do things EVER go to plan?

Fanny, fanny. Where for art thou Fanny? I'm sure they're all fine and all loved up in a newborn bubble

Robyn is poorly again. Her cough has got worse over the week and last night she just couldn't settle unless we sat bolt upright in bed and then gradually sank back down. she woke up 4 times, coughed and spluttered, had a drink, had calpol and was sick. Have managed to get her to Drs this afternoon. She is sucking her belly in when breathing and is wheezing again. Have a feeling it is asthma related so another round of steroids and inhalers.
She is asleep atm so I am in for another no nights sleep.

Meglet · 11/06/2010 14:39

debs Hope your dd is still resting and you have a better night tonight.

dg I can't believe your ds will be able to go to nursery next september ! I forget some of the dc's on here are August babies.

I made the MN talk round up for the second time in my MN life today! Which means I am either a) on here too much or b) highly amusing - I think it's a. Quantity over quality .

Hope everyone who is TTC is doing ok. I forget how stressful it is, especially when you want it to happen sooner rather than later.

Is anyone else going to be watching the football? I'm not interested in premier league footie but do love the world cup. When I took the dc's to nursery this morning they had already started decorating the rooms with flags they had made, the lone male member of staff is responsible for keeping the score chart up to date. I don't think DS has ever watched football, I do make him watch the tennis though.

CappuccinoCarrie · 11/06/2010 16:16

They were talking about the football on BBCnews24 and DD said 'mummy the football is for daddy to watch'! Cheeky mare.

REALLY hope Fanny is ok...bet her DH has forgotten her MN password so can't update us (sorry Fanny's DH!!!)

CappuccinoCarrie · 11/06/2010 16:18

I've done some MN stalking and come up with this from Fanny:

"In hospital with my beautiful boy! Can't type much on stupid blackberry. Very happy and very tired. Home tomorrow I hope."

HOOOORRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 11/06/2010 16:36

Yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Go Fanny A boy

Ta Carrie

Hope Robyn gets better soon Debs sounds like you're having a tough time of it.

Being v naughty today and working from home - which is normal for me but what isn't is that I have my personal laptop beside my desk with the world cup match on itv.com. I keep getting distracted though, so maybe not a good idea.
I love the world cup!! Last night's concert was amazing (though very sad news about Mandela's great grand daughter, poor thing

I finish soon for a week's holiday in Scotland We drive up on Monday and have 4 nights in a forestry comission cabin with a hot tub!!!I CAN'T WAIT!!!

Meglet · 11/06/2010 17:46

aaawww FP a boy .

digitalgirl · 11/06/2010 20:34

Aw, that little message from fanny brought a tear to my eye! A lovely snuggly newborn boy!

Debs75 · 11/06/2010 21:11

That's great news for Fanny. Did she know she was having a boy, I thought she had said it would be a girl?

MrsA I am enjoying the World Cup as well. DP has been so excited for the last week or two, just like a 10 yeasr old.

Drs have given Robyn steroids and antibiotics. If she gets worse over the weekend then to take her to hospital. She is alternating between happy and screaming. Hope the drugs kick in and we get happy all the time.

ninja · 11/06/2010 23:00

Just caught up after being back from hols for a week (we went to Wales in that lovely weather and the dd's had a lovely time).

Pacita · 12/06/2010 07:11

Oh, a little boy! Congrats to Fanny.

I have just had a small freak-out as i've discovered a hazelnut sized lump on my right breast. I'm not imagining it, as DP can feel it too. I'm sure it's probably just something related to early pregnancy, but I suppose i better get it checked out.

Have you ever had something like this? It is sore and movable.

The funny thing is that I have had no breast tenderness at all, and I'm supposedly 9 weeks pregnant. Mind you, I've only stopped breast feeding in April...

I'm probably just being neurotic, no?

becaroo · 12/06/2010 09:47

I had similar pacita when expecting Toby and also blood from my nipple but it was nothing...I had a scan and saw a consultant but they never really came up with an answer...thought it was related to the pregnancy but werent sure how! x

FP CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! xxxx

Really rushed today so havent read rest of posts so sorry if I have missed anything....so busy I dont know where to start! ds1 is 7 tomorrow and I am curretnly in party planning hell!!!! Of to Marks in a mo for the food - must have a shower first though (becaroo feels a bit whiffy!)

My new plasma tv and lpatop have just arrived and I dont have time to play with them!!! sob!

Away next week at center parcs so bye for now
x

ninja · 12/06/2010 10:23

Pacita I think moveable is good - I had a floating lump checked out, but right from the start they said they thought there wasn't a problem. Worth asking though.

becaroo have a lovely time, I'll keep my fingers crossed for the weather - although there's plenty to do at Centre Parcs if not

Fanny, if you are checking that's great news. How exciting. Luckily I'm too tired to feel broody at the thought.

Pacita · 12/06/2010 11:05

Thanks for the advice, ladies.

Bec have a great holiday!

CappuccinoCarrie · 12/06/2010 13:47

Realised I was prob really bad in stealing fanny's thunder (another phrase I never thought I'd say!) but we still want to hear a blow by blow account of the birth and how everything's been since, and send some newborn hormones our way!

All this talk of holidays is making me quite . This year we get an extension though, maybe next year we'll get a break!

debs really hope Robyn gets better soon.

pacita sounds like a good idea to get that checked out, just for peace of mind.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 12/06/2010 14:02

Have a good holiday Bec

A little snuggly boy for Fanny How lovely

There won't be much football watching going on in this house. Neither me or dh are that interested in it.

I noticed lots of St George flags hanging outside people's houses and fluttering from their cars this morning. Not in my village mind , but in the local town

Congrats Fanny! Boys are great.

We're vaguely planning a couple of camping trips this year, but haven't actually booked anywhere yet, so we'll be lucky if all the good places aren't booked.

FannyPriceless · 12/06/2010 14:20

Hello! Yes, we are now home. We have a lovely little boy with black spiky hair, born Tuesday afternoon. So sorry for being AWOL - I was definitely not so organised this time for emailing / texting so have been a bit slow on getting the news out.

He is totally gorgeous and drinking like a sailor. The op went well, though quite painful afterwards. I got my private room late afternoon on the second day so that was great for a bit of much-needed daytime sleep. The ward was so crowded they had new babies backed up in delivery waiting for beds to become free.

Mostly good experiences in hospital, apart from one night time maternity assistant who was really sarky and unhelpful when I asked for help to change his nappy. She asked me if I had other children then said 'Well it hasn't changed much in 2 years, you know.' She then got the items out waiting for me to do it, while I tried to explain without crying that I actually needed help as I couldn't get up. Half way through this humiliating conversation she spotted the wheelchair and was so embarassed. She spent the rest of the night apologising to me!

Will try to get a photo up soon.

FannyPriceless · 12/06/2010 15:43

Photos now on profile.

Hopefully · 12/06/2010 17:59

He looks lovely fanny! So glad you're all back home and well, and at stupid maternity assistant. I can't believe that they expected you to change his nappy, regardless of wheelchair, when you'd just had a bloody CS! The main reason I came home from hospital (waaaay before I was remotely ready) was because the midwifes refused to change DS's nappy for me - I'd had a 3rd degree and cervical tearing and a heaomorrage (apologies for spelling) and couldn't move in any way. Grrr.
