becaroo Pleased to hear your results were fine . How is your sister getting on, is she home yet?

It's roasting here today. DD is still asleep and DS is playing with Duplo & trains on the end of my bed. I should be doing something productive but thanks to starlight I keep peeking at Google Pacman .

Right, off to put some washing in the machine and make myself presentable (ie: not in primark pj's) as the window cleaner is coming today to do their annual clean.

becaroo · 22/05/2010 08:50

Hi meg Thanks x

Unfortunately, dsis is still in hospital. I did tell her I thought she was being a bit unrealistic expecting to be home yesterday She seems not to understand she has just had major abdominal surgery!!!

The surgeon had to make a much bigger incision than he thought (up from bikini to bellybutton) and he also had remove one of her ovaries. She is still very swollen and in pain and is not getting much sleep poor love (you know what hospitals are like!) Feel so sorry for her stuck in there over the weekend and its so hot!

Must take her some murray mints in today!

Have been on mn all morning. Have got to go and do something!!

mamamuffin · 22/05/2010 18:42

Just checking in. Ive been to scarborough with dh and my boys. Not playdale today though, but I love it there. Just the arcades, ice cream and a bimble along the coast. Excellent day. With the sunshining.
Birkis = birkinstocks
Healing vibes to your dsis bec and so glad your results are ok.

mamamuffin · 22/05/2010 18:43

Er does anyone else bimble ???

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 22/05/2010 19:20

Glad to hear you're feeling better Becaroo, and I hope your dsis is feeling better soon. Hospitals are vile places as it is, but in the heat they're even worse. I hope she appreciated the murray mints

The sun has been out again today - hurrah!M loved the paddling pool and went crazy in it, it was fun to watch

Am not sure wether I am liking this heat yet. I hate just lazing around in it and like to be doing something. Robyn is just sweating buckets whenever we are out and the other 2 just want to stay indoors. Plus my bump is getting big now and I can't get comfortable.
When the kids are back at school we will get out the little paddling pool and me and Robyn can sit in that whilst we bake

Any other LO's not settling on a night? We have just decided to put back Robyn's bedtime to 9pm as she gets all silly and hyper and I end up in there for hours if we try at 8

Bimble??

I bimble too!

M didn't sleep during today, we were at my parents and I was sure she'd sleey when her cousins took her out in the buggy. We didn't leave until gone 9pm and she was still cheery then!!

It was a bit TOO hot today (lovely pre-kids when you could relax in the shede with a book, too hot for running around after an active toddler

becaroo · 23/05/2010 08:54

debs75 We have moved Tobys bedtime to 8.30-9 ish as any earlier and we just end up playing on the bed! Am a bit fed up about it tbh as we get no evening as I am so tired by 9pm I often go to bed at the same time! (god, I am so old!)

Thanks for all the healing vibes for dsis. She may get home today but is having lots of pain still so may be tomorrow.

I am pretty sure I bimble

star Do tell!!!

Been fishing custard creams out of the paddling pool - eew - so might go to the park this morning and save the paddling pool til this afternoon

xx

star I thought the burnt bottom might be another baking-related incident. But no, you were sunbathing nekkid!

The heat! Try being 8.5 months pregnant. Wah! All of my preggy clothes appear to be winter clothes. Why? We were actually pregnant in the summer weren't we? I suspect I got rid of lots of my very large things. I seriously have nothing I can wear outside the house. Never mind, two more weeks and all I have to do in public is go to the midwife and vote. I have one ugly t-shirt dress thingy I could wear, but will have to ask DH to shave my legs for me first.

DD had loads of fun yesterday with paddling pool, watering can, and wheelbarrow. Endless entertainment.

Please help - swimming costume question: We have bought DD sunsuit thingy (shorts and top) as her previous swimwear was just a little pair of swim nappies. I am going to get another pair of swim nappies to wear under the shorts, but the shorts don't seem designed to have enough room in them for this. Am I missing something here? What do others wear?
This is the sunsuit: here
And this is the swim nappies I'm intending to get: here

Meglet · 23/05/2010 11:00

star . My garden is overlooked so no nakedness for me.

I am now bored with this weather as DD will not keep her hat on. She is too little and her hair is too wispy and blonde to stay out without a hat so I have dragged both of the dc's back inside and stuck cbeebies on until I can think of a better plan.

fp are you having a cs this time? For some reason I thought you mentioned it many months ago?

FannyPriceless · 23/05/2010 11:24

meglet Yes, having a c-s.

Will your DD tolerate hat ties? You could get some ribbon and sew ties into the hat so it stays on a bit longer. Also, we have a big sun umbrella we set up on the lawn if needed.

becaroo · 23/05/2010 12:55

meglet We bought a gazebo thing from argos last year - only £20 and it covers a lot of the lawn area so we put the paddling pool under it so it doesnt matter if they havent got their hats on.

FP Blimey..its no fun being preggers in this heat. Poor you. Toby has got trunks to cover his swim nappy - they are called Konfidence - you can google them. They may do girls costumes/tops and shorts.

Been to the park so s1 could ride his bike. dh and ds1 have washed both cars, I have done a basket of ironing (phew!) and so thats it job wise for today!

DastardlyandSmugly · 23/05/2010 17:32

I would get the disposable swim nappies as they are less bulky. You can dry them out and rewear them as long as there's no poo

Debs75 · 23/05/2010 21:55

Disposables nappies would fit best FP but the bambino ones will last longer.
How are you coping in the heat? I am shattered and nothing seems to fit so have to get new maternity bra, trousers and tops. The heat is setting my excema off so the only thing I am comfy in is my pj's. Not a good look but at least I would fit in with the other mums who live nearby.

FannyPriceless · 23/05/2010 22:58

debs Thanks. I actually sat in the paddling pool today as it was all too much. Right now I am topless (don't try to picture this, please!) with a cold wet tea towel on the back of my neck and another on top of my head. I too have ordered new maternity clothes today. Seems bonkers with only two weeks to go but I seriously have nothing to wear.

Meglet · 24/05/2010 07:44

fp It's dead easy to sell maternity clothes on e-bay once you're finished with them. I got a few £££ for all of mine. DD doesn't have a hat with ties on it so I will raid my sewing kit as I think I have some ribbon somewhere.

We went to Go Ape down in the New Forest yesterday afternoon, bloody hell it's scary! DS thought it was hilarious seeing mummy up a tree, even though mummy was swearing under her breath and crapping herself . My mum & stepdad gave the dc's ice cream and played frisbee while I was up the trees. Then we had a tradtional picnic with ginger beer and tartan rugs, mum got a little carried away with the whole picnic thing !

I'm so excited that its Chelsea Flower Show week! We went a few years ago but there's no way I can take the dc's while they're small (can you imagine trying to keep them off the gardens )so I will enjoy it on the tv instead.

ninja · 24/05/2010 10:41

I want to do go ape for my significant birthday coming up. I've invited lots of friends for a girlie day and it's only just occured that they may not consider go ape girlie . I was planning a spa afterwards though!

CappuccinoCarrie · 24/05/2010 11:22

I was love to do go ape DH has been on a stag do but none of my friends have thought of it for a hen day!

Our baby swimming lessons insist that the kids use the splash about happy nappy (you can get it from lots of different places, this link just had a good picture of it). Its wetsuit material with stretchy bits over the legs, so no poo could even hope to escape!

I would recommend all in one wetsuits for kids so they can't burn their middles when playing. Two parters are essentail for potty trained LOs though! Sainsburys and M&S (in fact prob all the supermarkets) do very reasonably priced factor 50 wetsuits, many with matching hats. Love em.

CappuccinoCarrie · 24/05/2010 11:22

was would

CappuccinoCarrie · 24/05/2010 11:23

LOL debs at fitting in by wearing your pjs! I'm all for the slummy mummy look

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 24/05/2010 12:06

I feel for you pregger ladies. DS1 was born at the end of July 2006 which was the hottest July on record. It was EVIL. I remember standing at the hob cooking and hearing water dripping, I looked down and saw it was coming from me. 'Yipee' my waters have gone I thought ........ but actually it was sweat pooling under my boobs, running down my bump, then dripping on the floor

I've got ds some trunks with an integral nappy and you wouldn't know there was a nappy involved as they aren't bulky in the slightest. Saying that, I haven't used them yet as he's been running around naked in the garden I'm v v paranoid about the sun so I've been applying sun lotion on him every hour!

Lol at Starlights burnt arse. I've done that before on holiday and it hurts everytime you sit down - ouch.

FannyPriceless · 24/05/2010 12:19

ILTMIMI Love your dripping belly story!

carrie Yes I now think it was a mistake to buy the two parter swim suit, as the bottoms keep falling down and simply won't accomodate any sort of nappy. I thought I was being clever by buying a two parter in size 2-3 as it would last for ages and be long enough not to have a gap at the waist. But I've changed my mind and will get an all in one now.

One interesting thing though - we had her in the swim suit yesterday without a nappy on. At one point she stood quite still and looked very distressed but I couldn't work out why. Then I saw a wee dribbling down her leg. Bless! She really did not want to wet herself without a nappy on. Good sign for the future, methinks. (Although potty training is the last thing I'm planning just at the mo!).
