Oh hurray, hurray, LadyT, that is good news.

Can't wait for you to be a published author!

Rubena · 28/04/2010 11:11

hmmm some good advice - and Lady we both agree (dh and I what you said about getting 30 different opinions on here!) I'll give it some thought - one of my shortlist names some lovely person on here named her Dec 08 baby that wouldn't worry me though as it's a great name (it's not you Lady! don't worry!)

Rubena · 28/04/2010 11:20

OH no - I've just finally been over to the FB group we created and I've confused Pixsis with Poison and must have deleted poison instead of Pixsis (sorry Pixsis if you lurk but I had no clue who you were so nothing personal!!! Same with Modernlove as I had no idea who CS was!!!! POison if you are lurking i'm sending you a friend request!!!

Rubena · 28/04/2010 11:22

Bugger same thing with Kimberley - I've actually met Kim too!!!!

LadyThompson · 28/04/2010 11:22

Thanks Summer. I suppose then I will be worrying that everyone will think the rather selfish main character is me but again I will leave that worry aside for now...

I'm not surprised, Rubes, as I think we all did well with the naming last time.

Jeepers, my head is thumping. O for a Nurofen.

SummerLightning · 28/04/2010 11:27

rubes you make me laugh with your facebook kerfuffling!!

I am sure you have met poison too, haven't you?

Rubena · 28/04/2010 11:27

I just looked at the old email list and all the names - gosh there are only a few of us that have stuck around..... right, back to thinking about names

Beans33 · 28/04/2010 11:28

That's great news, Lady - yay!

And I know what you mean about how harsh people on here make you feel better about yourself! And having said that, also some truly lovely people on wider here who are clearly v sensible and have heads screwed on.

I'm starting to fret about selling our house again - it's been 2 weeks since we agreed the sale and they haven't booked in the surveyor yet. We've put it back on the market. Apparently they're worrying too.

Veggie - poor you feeling rotten - hope you perk up a bit later. I seem to be obsessed with lady gardens and all things foo foo related - I just typed "vaggie" instead of "veggie" - Pubes, Rubes, Vaggie, Veggie Potato Potahto etc.

OP posts:
SummerLightning · 28/04/2010 11:31

beans any idea why they haven't booked in the surveyor yet? Have you asked them/their solicitor?? 2 weeks isn't THAT long, has it been a bit more than 2 weeks though? We've booked a surveyor on the house we're buying, not sure if our buyers have done on ours yet, but it has been only 1 week.

LadyThompson · 28/04/2010 11:35

Yeah, Rubes and her infamous Facebook scythe

RIght. I must either go and lie down or do other stuff.

Hope you feel better soon, Veg.

What does the Estate agent say, Beans? Are they first time buyers, maybe just a bit slow off the mark, uncertain of protocol?

Beans33 · 28/04/2010 11:54

Estate agent and our solicitor both confused as to why taking so long when they have mortgage ready to go and want to get on with it as much as we do.

the husband is on business in Jordan at the moment, so think he's not quite on top of it. But surely wife could deal with it? I am on our side!!! I think I'm just getting antsy as dont' want to be paying mortgage for long!

OP posts:
SummerLightning · 28/04/2010 11:58

Well telling them it's back on the market will probably get their arses in gear! Though it might stress them out and piss them off a bit!

LadyT I see you have started another controversial thread on the baby names topic!

LadyThompson · 28/04/2010 12:22

But it isn't controversial!

I love the baby names topic and just get fed up of the same small minded remarks people trot out!

Who CARES if people turn their heads when you call their names in the supermarket (not I); are names REALLY a barrier to professional success? (I heartily doubt it) and this business of calling names chavvy all the time is just plain horrid.

I think I should stay off there, though. I keep inadvertently ruffling feathers.

SummerLightning · 28/04/2010 12:26

Yeah it wasn't as good as the other one.

You must try harder. Chuckling to myself at "rancid".

I am massively bored today. I really should do some work. Maybe I will have a think about boy's names instead....

veggie how are you feeling?

LadyThompson · 28/04/2010 12:36

I would come up with some boy's names for you but I think you might find them too fancy. Although as I like your DS's name so much, maybe there is an overlap somewhere.

Ok:

Oleander
Hugo
Horatio

On the more popular front I like Charles, Oliver, Jonny...

My all time, ultimate favourite boy's name I won't say in case this one is a boy after all

Beans33 · 28/04/2010 12:37

Hmmm... I am fascinated by all the other threads. So much I hadn't even thought about... and perhaps best if I don't.

Oh my gosh, I'm so bored or weeing every 20 seconds or so.

SL - I, too, am bored to tears... And I'm at work so ought to be doing stuff - haha. Only 8 days left in office. I couldn't give a monkey's!

I also like Angus but DP's nephew is called that and also I am not Scottish, though DP was born in Edinburgh so we could possibly just get away with it.

LadyThompson · 28/04/2010 12:43

Girl's names I like but which DP has vetoed are

Christabel
Theodora
Isadora
and, er
Daffodil

If it hadn't been for Geri Halliwell, we may well have had a Bluebell last time, though.

I am happy to relinquish all those lovely names if DP only lets me have my number 1 girl's name. He's not madly keen (still says it's the name of a Great Dane in a stately home ) but I think I am wearing him down. He gets to choose two middle names! I think it's a good deal.

SummerLightning · 28/04/2010 12:43

Haha, sorry but no to your first 3 suggestions!! Hugo reminds me of the fat one from Lost, and the others are too fancy for me!

Charles does not go with my surname (think Liberian(?) genocidal leader)

Oliver is pretty much no 1 in popularity so probably too popular for DH!

And we have Uncle Jon, Grandad John and other Jons in the family already so Jon or derivatives of are out!

You have to tell us the favourite boys name after no 2 is born.

I think it will be quite a traditional name, my favourites are Nicholas, Daniel, Peter, Andrew, I think, though I may have forgotten a few. DH really likes George, but I am not so sure.

Beans33 · 28/04/2010 12:45

I like Bertie..

OP posts:
Beans33 · 28/04/2010 12:48

Oh and other boys names I love are Matt (but not Matthew!), Edward (love Ed and Ted and Ned too) and Alexander (I love Alex, DH loves Alec - ho hum).

Girls - so far we're a bit stuck on Prudence. Also like Rebecca, but not Becky and Anna and Emma.

OP posts:
SummerLightning · 28/04/2010 12:48

I also REALLY REALLY like Adam but MIL has vetoed it (we told it her last time) for a complicated family reason that may or may not be fair enough.
Also my very good friends husband is called Adam so it may have been a bit weird.

Neither DH or I have any scottish, welsh or Irish blood and so we rule out those names based on thinking it will be tedious for them to be asked "Oh are you Scottish/Welsh, etc" and them say "err...no".

I have to say, I am not keen on Daffodil either!

LadyThompson · 28/04/2010 12:48

It's ok, I don't take myself at all seriously Ferdinand? Guessing that's a no as well. I like Robin as well, for a boy or girl (not Robyn though).

I will tell you my favourite boy's name after the 20 week scan, assuming it is a girl!

I must say I like Peter. Underused and underrated, in my view.

SummerLightning · 28/04/2010 12:50

beans I have to say Edward when you have an Isabella might be a bit ... erm...Twilight???

LadyThompson · 28/04/2010 12:51

Montmorency? I know a Monty. Mind you, I also know a Horatio. They are both super.

I am the only person in the world who likes Daffodil. I realise that, but at the same time, have no understanding why

I like Adam. I also like Prudence. Predictably, I love Bertie.
