Hi everyone!!

Got a text from CTFN checking in on me (thanking you very much, tis very kind of you). Sorry havent been on in a while, but have been doing lots on the house and garden in the last few weeks. Undertook a top to bottom spring clean and have spent the last few weeks in the garden clearing, fertilising and planting. Am glad to report that house and garden now look lurvely! Getting out in the fresh air makes a world of difference, am feeling fantastic!

Have skimmed the thread. No chance in hell of low/ zero carb diet in this house! Have lost more weight in last few weeks simply from getting out in the garden. Am back into some tinier trousers, so that is good enough for me!

Nico has been fairly unsettled of late, but am enjoying it all. The more I think about it, the more I think that we will stop at 2 LO's. So am getting all the baby cuddles I can.

Right off to the dump with garden cuttings. Shaping up to be a lush day here, hope everyone has a good day.

CantThinkofFunnyName · 22/04/2010 09:58

MK - how lovely to hear from you. Glad to hear everything going well but very to hear of your tinier trousers. Doesn't seem to matter how "on the go" I am or how I stick to my points on WW diet, I've hit a plateau.

Newbeginning1 · 22/04/2010 10:21

wmdo - good luck today with the jabs x

mk - like ctofn i'm also about the tinier trousers. I dont get why im not getting thinner especially when im eating so healthily with salads, chocolate, salads, cheesecake etc

flyingma - DS was exactly the same with the powdered milk and im mix feeding too. He's fine though on the ready made stuff but i recently tried him on hungry baby milk and that made him worse too

ali - great news that the scan is all clear

Thank you everyone for your suggestions, i'll have a look at them.

DS is meant to be spending 2 hours with his Dad today without me. Im so anxious about it especially as it's the first time he will have Jack. He's squirming around though today and is due his big poo so im secretly hoping he does it whilst with his Dad, it's only fair he deals with 1 when ive done the rest

I take the bad mummy award for this week i reckon. Yes, i did lay Jack on some bubble wrap i'd got for some something i was sending. I recorded all the little poppings on my phone like a happy slapping video For those of you that want to call the NSPCC now my postcode is NG12 2HJ.

somewhathorrified · 22/04/2010 12:38

Marking place as it's taken the best part of 30 mins to catch up and now I need to feed myself b4 Tobin's lunch...must read faster next time, hope everyone#s well.

crumpette · 22/04/2010 14:04

rofl at New's happy slapping vid

mistletoe! SO nice to 'see' you! I was wondering how you and Nico were doing, v to hear of the tiny trousers!!

I took about an hour getting dressed today trying to squeeze my backside into my summery trousers- exhausted about 6 pairs before I found some that fit (apparently a size 10, but from monsoon last year, so that will be a 14!) Shuffled out to Boots for some sudocrem to put under DS's ARM yes his bottom is fine, but one armpit is sore?? I always dry him very thoroughly so have no idea how it's suddenly got so sore. While I was out at boots, I couldn't help but pop next door to M&S FOR SOME COOKIES om nom nom..

oops

Im so thick. I sit here and read all the last posts since last on then by the end my head goes blank - tell me im not the only one?

We survived the jabs. I wimped out a bit. Im only going for one at a time so they both got the 5-1 (polio, tetenus, diptherea, HIB, whooping cough).

DS went first and he was great. Sat on my knee but as he watched the needle come towards his leg , I felt him tense then clever mummy whipped a Thomas the Tank chocolate lolly from pocket and said "look Evan". He was all oooh chocolate (don't know where he gets that from)!

DD screamed but was ok after a cuddle. Just to see what tonight brings.

While I was typing the above I heard a scream from the garden. DS fell over onto his toy digger right on the jabbed area . He is in agony and limping and now the injection site is very red and hot. Does that matter? Serves me right for saying it went well then! Dont want to phone the doc as they already think im a nutter with regards the vaccs.

Marjorybanks - how many do you have (children). Just wondering why you decided two was enough. I wish I could make a decision on that.

ali im like you, all broody but I don't think I cope that well with the stress of DC's. I think you've had real reason to and you may well feel better as Jacob grows. Im just so anxious all the time with no good reason.

Jacob is gorgeous, lovely big eyes.

CTFN How did you get into that job, sounded really fab. No wonder you enjoy the orginsational bit of being a mum. Im very unorganised and it's lucky I have a brilliant DH who helps loads or id never get stuff done.

Have 3 girls I used to work with coming for wine and munchies (bang goes any dieting) tonight at 7.30pm. Chances of me getting both down by then, hmmm.
DH done a bit of cleaning while I was out last night, star.

alibobins · 22/04/2010 14:56

news lol lol lol nearly got the sat nav out to come and rescue Jack

Jacob has took a dislike to Dd who is really upset but think she is a bit heavy handed with him.

Done loads of cleaning today as I'm stuck in waiting for a delivery of 250 slabs for our new patio wo's betting they come at 6pm.

wmdo I'm rubbish at remembering things on this thread I find myself scrolling up and down hope both Dc's are okay for you tonight.

jardins · 22/04/2010 17:56

WMDO I'm glad the jabs went as well as possible for you, er, cough: I mean your two DC! Through the fog and general hassle of life ..... you make me LOL. Anyway don't worry; my brain is still swamped with hormones and I often forget things. Take this afternoon for eg; I went for a blood test (yawn) and considering that place was like my second home for nine months (you wouldn't BELIEVE how many blood tests a pregnant 40 year who hasn't had toxoplasmosis must have in France) I felt fairly chatty with the staff and kept saying in a really engaging manner: 'this is my first post pregnancy blood test'. You will not be surprised to discover that no one really gave a damn and no conversation was struck up. Anyhow I was wittering on about not having the right health insurance papers on me and the lab assistant casually said 'yes you do it's right in front of you.' Yes, I felt like a daft mother, the type who give other mums a bad name .

LO is being really cute and is starting to laugh! Has anybody else's baby been sneezing more than usual over the past couple of days? Also are there any other babies out there who do not enjoy tummy time in the slightest? LO isn't fond of it in the least but is, however, partial to standing up for AGES (assisted, of course )

whensmydayoff · 23/04/2010 08:59

im never ever drinking again....or eating crisps....or cashew nuts or meze type snacks........i need a colonic

whensmydayoff · 23/04/2010 09:00

what do you mean jardins re toxoplasmosis

crumpette · 23/04/2010 09:15

See that's why I want to emigrate to France- efficient health service- UK? I had one blood test, just one, and none since, despite having history of cholestasis. Yes, I am leaving

Gosh I'm in love with Nick Clegg I actually am, how sad is that, alas I'm not registered to vote! Not on electoral roll as DP printed forms (printer has died here) and then left them in his car until the very day I had to register by. He says it was accidental but he is apparently not allowed to be listed on electoral roll anywhere [suspicious 'spooks' emoticon]

Baby laughed properly for the very first time yesterday.. I was playing with a fluffy yellow duck (no for his benefit, I am giant overgrown child) and he suddenly let out a huge chuckle, very cute.

WMDO- I saw a televised colonic once, it was not pretty hope you had a nice evening!

ali Your photos are lovely Jacob's flat head doesnt look as bad as babymoo's. She has a dent at the back where her soft spot was. Going to try the Goi Goi pillow and go from there.

She is defo looking to her other side a lot more now and sleeps on it most nights so hopefully all will be fine. £2000 is just too much for us, we would need family donations! My brothers gfriend had a flat head and you can see it when her hair is up (you probably wouldnt notice it but I find myself looking at everyones head shape now!)

jardins Babymoo has been sneezing loads! Its really funny because she hits herself in the face with both hands when she does. She just looks at me and smiles! She also hates tummy time, am going to look at these playmats with the pillows on so that she is raised and has something to look at.

Well, last night I weighed 15st 6 (no change). So I thought I would weigh myself this morning to see if I was any lighter - 15st 8??!! WTF. How can I gain 2 lbs in my sleep?? I am also doing the Volvic drink 1.5 litres of water a day (instead of diet coke!) Do you think it might be water retention?!

sockmonkey · 23/04/2010 10:32

forgetful? check!
I regularly walk out of the room and forget what I was going for.

DD had jabs round two yesterday. She seems ok this time, just a bit grouchy but no temp.
I feel rough though. Started with tummy ache yesterday, and couldn't really sleep cos of it last night, then DD had a screaming session at 4am and I had to bring her downstairs cos DH was whining and covering his head with a pillow. tried to sleep on couch, but no luck.

crumpette - how sweet re: laughing. It melts the heart.

jardins · 23/04/2010 13:21

WMDO the French are pretty paranoid about toxoplasmosis during pregnancy (it can lead to mc in first trimester, and fetal dammage during remaining pregnancy) so if an initial blood test indicates you haven't contracted it prior to the pregnancy and are therefore not immunised you are obliged to have monthly blood tests to ensure you haven't caught in. If you do catch it you are usually given potent anti-biotics to try and save your child. All very cheerful stuff. I think the reason France takes it more seriously than the UK is because it is much more agricultural therefore more at risk, or something like that.

Crumpette you are right about the French health system being excellent in many ways (but in huge deficit). The amount of monthly blood tests you have to do is quite mind numbing though and even more so when you are, like myself Rhesus negative.

mama2moo I'm sure it's water retention! I sometimes thing all the water I drink during the night whilst bf goes straight to my breasts. Er, is there scientific proof for this?

Mama2b5 · 23/04/2010 15:54

Hi all - am trying to keep up with it all but am finding it difficult! ahhhh glad to see you faithful mothers on here! how quickly r babies r growing, wow, where has the time gone!!!!!
how r u and your diets going!!!!!!!!! i dont even owned scales no idea about weight loss!
I seem to have a spoilt baby boy who doesnt want to take a bottle at all!!!!!!!!! he refuses even if i express it, and the crying he puts down is like your killing him!
so i give up and then he feds and falls asleep exhausted from the screaming!
because we went away he was late for his jabs and had them when was 10 weeks but handled it really well! he is smiling and giggling all the time well inbetween stuffing his whole fist in his mouth and nearly choking!!!!!!!
im waiting for kids to come from school then off to the park to njoy the sun!

Ps- has anyone else not seen there "red lady friend" not had one since before pregnant should i be concerned or be thankful, and before you asked NO NOT pregnant again!!!!!!!!!!no way way way!!!!

whensmydayoff · 23/04/2010 16:43

No Red Lady's here mama2b5. DD nrly 19 weeks. I didn't get period until DS was 7 months and I had stopped BF at 5 months. Think is normal.

Oh im a fat greedy bitch. Had friend and her kids here for lunch. Last nights crisps went out (and yes I was eating them again) then a huge piece of millionaire shortbread. I feel so grotty and stodgy.

jaabaar · 23/04/2010 17:01

Hi!

Did you ALL had babies Jan 2010?
Wish i had joined this thread when it started.

CantThinkofFunnyName · 23/04/2010 17:30

Just a quick hi to say we collected Percy today and I am already exhausted. A 5 hour round trip, 2 extremely excited children, 1 tetchy baby and a poor unsettled little pup who doesn't know where his mamma has gone or his brothers and sisters and instead has entered a mad house.

Yes, I must be totally bonkers.

somewhathorrified · 23/04/2010 17:44

Jaabaar welcome to the Jan 2010 thread which also includes those due jan 2010 whose LO's were a little over enthusiastic.

Jardins, my LO alos hates tummy time, but loves standing, he even pushes up to stand when you say "up"...very cute and a little too much like training a puppy

No period here yet either at 14weeks post partum, have to say I'm not missing them in the least!

Bless Tobin has now learned to shout, so out of nowhere we get "URGLE!", what can you do but say "urgle" back...er...even in an overcrowded supermarket

whensmydayoff · 23/04/2010 21:39

Awwww, the puppy has lost his mummy . How much does that tear me and my maternal hormones up right now.

I cannot imagine how anyone would have the energy for a puppy right now. I was angry when the cat wanted fed tonight, I believe a four letter word escaped my mouth (I know, moi).

Had one of those amazing moments tonight with DD.
Walked up and down the bedroom with the hairdryer on until she fell asleep (our usual thing)then lay on the bed with her sleeping in my arms for half an hour just bursting with love.

Ok, she has sticky out ears and bald patches all over with the odd long bit of fluff for hair but to me she is just beautiful .

I get all scared of them growing up when I get those little moments - anyone else or am I mad?

I start plottingthinking about a third but that would be insane, wouldn't it?

CantThinkofFunnyName · 23/04/2010 22:15

WMDO - I know! He totally has me marked out as "leader of the pack" though - guess he must know I'm a mum . So far, been sniffy around Olivia but very gentle. Not that we've really allowed her at his level yet of course! Has been in his crate and settled there earlier, but after DH went into kitchen, turned on radio, made himself something to eat, of course Percy woke up, whined and is now curled up in a ball at my feet . I've told DH to go to bed early tonight as he has just got back from a business trip so I've got the late feed, middle of the night Olivia duty and although DS is sleeping on sofa to settle Percy if he needs it, I have a funny feeling I'll be doing it all .

Tomorrow night, however, is my early to bed and sleep through the night, DH can do it all "night" .

Was a little stressful when we first got home with Percy though as Olivia wanted feeding and trying to find a position to do that when he was jumping and humping at every opportunity was difficult. Tomorrow should hopefully be a better and more calm day.

Night all.

mama2moo · 23/04/2010 22:21

wmdo I am dreading my dd's growing up and not wanting cuddles I really want a 3rd but am worried I am tempting fate after 2 healthy, great dd's.

Jaabaar Welcome My dd was born on Feb the 2nd but I was due Jan 29!

No af here either, thank God! I read on another thread that when it comes back after breast feeding its horrendous (Maybe I will breast feed until Babymoo starts college!!!)

Babymoo fell asleep in my Dads arms earlier and every time she stirred he would stroke her head to get her back to sleep again - He looked so proud

Dd1 is being very kind to babymoo at the moment but sometimes leans her a bit too hard (obviously never leave them together and move dd1 when she does) Anyone else have this? Dd1 is 23mo now. How should I handle without seeming like I am pushing her away?

Mama2b5 · 24/04/2010 03:49

CTOFN- ohhh have you just gotten a puppy - ohhh how cute! i would love one when we get bigger place but animal fur makes me sneeze and my eyes puff up like tennis balls - and go really red!

had my 1st migraine since having lil one oh my gosh thought my head was goin to explode!!!!
it was totally my thought should of eaten but didnt until after 3pm so then when did started to bring it back up ( TMI) then took me over 2 hours to fall asleep, the whole family ended up being shunned downstairs with doors closed and then had to put cold ice pack on head, throbbing head, i just cried then just started to settle when lil one started to cry so hubby brought him to me to fed, he fell asleep but then i couldnt, had to take him back to his dad! who tried feeding him via bottle! it was horrid, now awake early hours with hot drink!

whensmydayoff · 24/04/2010 08:21

Oh mama2b5 that sounds horrendous you poor thing. I cant imagine what it's like to live with migraines like that. Hope you are ok now. x

jardins · 24/04/2010 10:39

Poor mama2b5 I totally feel your pain. Migraines are just awful and I have been known to cry like a baby during one but to have a real baby to tend to; oh deary me! This too will pass; it sounds like yours are sugar level and stress related too.

I'm feeling a bit low as my GP has just called me with the result of my iron levels blood test (yes; ANOTHER blood test!) and I am anemic. I have been fighting anaemia for years now but the funny thing is I didn't feel particularly tired. Now I have the results I feel VERRRRRRY tired. Sigh.
