As from tomorrow I am doing the special K diet! A bowl for breakfast, one for lunch and a sensible tea. I am also only drinking water.

If MIL makes it here next week I want to be a bit slimmer so I dont get laughed at (not to my face but I know damn well she does it)

Babymoo had another co appointment today and apparently is pretty much sorted now. We are still looking into a helmet to sort out her flat head (photo on my profile) but will leave it a few months before going ahead with it (sorry for the pun!!)

Has anyone elses babies got a flat head? Are you worried about or just going to let it sort its self out? £2000 for a helmet will be very very tough for us fund.

alibobins · 20/04/2010 20:20

mama Jacob has got a very flat head on his right side will try and get a picture on tomorrow.
I was going to speak to health visitor at clinic as he hates tummy time and prefers his head facing the right so i'll post what she says.

We had a bit of a break through today Jacob drank 6oz of milk thats the most he's ever drank

Fraochsmum · 20/04/2010 20:25

Hi guys, just marking my place again - think I have about 4 pages to read through to catch up! Was just going to read what's been happening, but caught Cara's ankle before she tumbled off the pouffe again - she's bloody quick I tell you!!!

Mama2b5 · 20/04/2010 21:01

Hi all - I HAVE MISSED YOU ALL!

Well i found you, the jan babies crew!

Hope all is well with everyone and there lovely lil ones! well not so little any more, my gosh time flies and wow ive been busy and hardly had a chance to read the pages - Sorry if i missed anything important.
Am i the only one who is so shocked at how much baby is doin at only 12 weeks!

he is dribbling alot now ohh my gosh dont tell me hes teething already! hand and clothe labels in mouth also bibs!
he flat out rejects bottle and so weaning him for me to have a break aint happening! he is so alert and gurgling and tries grabbing anything that comes near his mouth!

he sleep most of the nite and wakes at 6.30 - 7.00am.

bye for now marking my spot on the thread! xx

Flounder1 · 20/04/2010 21:12

Hiya! goodness you are difficult to keep up with! I have been quietly observing whilst doing my long BF before bed, and decided to keep
my aweful one handed typing to myself!
I am glad to see that I am not the only crazy broody lady! Although sadly my circumstances put me off slightly too crumpette. Not to mention the 3rd degree
making any sexytime intimacy a horrifying idea!
crumpette+ lottie I'm sure I got crossed of a few christmas card lists when I dared to mention that DS sleeps on his tummy at our baby sensory class!
As well as A very cross 'and you let him!?' . So i was very glad to read that I'm not the only one!
new I'm also concerned about my boobies! and would love to sleep without a bra! (tmi?)

I'm so glad the sun is finally out! Dp, Ds and I enjoyed the best of the whether on sunday at Leeds castle, it was beautiful! I highly recommend it for a family day out! The grounds are huge and ridiculously beautiful! There are some pretty cool looking playgrounds, an avairy and a maze, we had a great day and we havent even seen inside the castle!

DS had his third injections today too, is it just me or does it get worse each time (for baby and mum)? This time he wouldnt even except a feed, he was so busy screaming afterwards! he was completely inconsolable! and this evening before his bath it was as though he remembered what had happened earlier on in the day and we had a repeat performance... it was so sad , but he settled without a feed, on his back too! so maybe he'll sleep well.

jardins · 20/04/2010 21:44

Ooooh Flounder1 where do you live? I hail from Tunbridge Wells, not a million miles from Leeds Castle, although I've been living abroad for 12 years now.

Interesting fact I've picked up for all of you with dribbling 3 month babies; apparently it is probably not teething (although my eldest DD got her first teeth at 2 months ). Apparently babies produce a lot more saliva at this age and consequently drool as they cannot swallow it all!

Yay for all of those who miraculously successfully lost weight this week. I am ashamed I forgot to weigh myself for the fat club on Monday - I had my in-laws over and christening preparation which pretty much exhausted me - is it ok for me to weigh myself tomorrow or are the doors officially closed until next week?

Mother Nature is certainly crafty! Whilst I'm enjoying NOT being pregnant anymore I am so happy with my 3 DC I could so easily start it all again - um, barring my grand old age: 41 yikkes! I think I shall be sensible here: somebody's got to be

jardins · 20/04/2010 21:48

ps Um, I also belong in the lopsided club. Quite honestly it's a bit of a mystery why my DH still claims to like looking at me (unless he's doing it for the laughs!)

whensmydayoff · 20/04/2010 21:52

Alright, I can't hide forever. 9stone 11. 1 lb gain although after i eat the contents of my 'dash to the garage for milk bag' tonight, you may as well put 9 stone 12lb.

Im too bleary eyed to read all the posts but there is talk of droopy boobs I see.

I hate my boobs now. After feeding DS i did go through a real paranoid phase where I wouldn't let DH touch them but then they seemed to get a bit better.

This time, they seem to be pointing straight down at the floor. Hopefully Im just getting a hunch back and thats not really where my boobs are going to be sitting from now on!

Had crapy day. No real drama just crap.
Took DS & DD out in buggy, she screamed all the way. Got to Grans and my Aunt who lost her husband (my Uncle George)was there (didn't know she was coming) and DD continued to scream while DS talked like a budgie on speed. I could see it was the last thing she needed. Ushered them quickly out after half an hour.

Got home. DS went into garden and ate mud from area where cat shits - marvellous. Phoned Doc, Hopefully he doesn't have toxoplasmosis.

Forgot to give DD medicine, bla bla, didn't get them down until 9.15pm after more screaming - some of it mine.

Very boring post but very boring day!

Taking both DS & DD for their first immunisations on Thur. My cousin was paralysed from a Rubella jab at 16 so it's taken alot for me to make this decision but im so so scared. I keep looking at them and getting really anxious and teary.

Im not going to relax until it's over and they are ok.

What should I expect from them after? Will they be very ill for a few nights or what?

mama2moo · 20/04/2010 21:54

Flounder I would love to go to Leeds Castle. I saw it on a programme once and it looked amazing.

ali Do you take Jacob to a Cranial Osteopath? I had never heard of it before I asked on mn about flat heads. Turns out babymoo's neck had been twisted as she was back to back and turned in labour. She had her 4th appointment today and its amazing. She is turning her head loads now and sleeping on the lumpy part!

Im watching Great Ormond Street on channel 2. Its so sad isnt it. Its awful to see the doctors using money in their decisions

Ah london, I feel your pain! No there's just not enough breathing space at times.

For my latest trick, Im now going to attempt to take both of them to BookStart at the library for 10.30am.

Horrible night too.
Im still not sure if DD has milk intollerence or not. Last night when I forgot to give her meds on time (moron)I knew feeding her would be impossible so we made a bottle up, mostly breast with a bit formula because she is refusing the new taste of formula. She was very very unsettled, wriggly all night and windy. Harder to feed this morning because of wind/reflux.

Has anyone else's babies been a bit unsettled when they first got formula?

jardins · 21/04/2010 09:15

WMDO I can't answer your last question about formula but my breastfed LO was verrrrry restless all last night: in your words: 'wriggly and windy'. Hmm, not quite sure why. Also I just wanted to say that I empathise with your fear of jabs. I was in tears on and off for days prior to LO's first set of jabs which she had done at nine weeks. Second lot coming up next week and I'm shuddering at the mere thought of them. The trouble is that I know way too many people who are dead set against them and who will happily vent about the evil doings of inoculations. My GP snorted at me when I mentioned these people and retorted that in developping countries they'd be more than ecstatic about being given the chance to inoculate their DC. Anyway, I'm still very confused about it all.

Let us know how it went, ok?

whensmydayoff · 21/04/2010 09:34

jardins I spent last 3 years looking into them and it's a minefield. My DS is 3 next month and hasn't had them yet.

Nothing and nobody could persuade me not even the Doctors at hospital telling me my DC's would surely die without them!

Then, last week at my Uncle's funeral, my mum just came out with...

"poor Aunt Margaret, do you know she lost 3 of her brothers to childhood illnesses. They were all school age, one of TB, one of Meningitis which was a secondery infection due to chicken pox and the other I can't remember but something similar"

I just thought, wow, we've come along way then, maybe vacs aren't so bad.

I also thought, thank mother, this info might have helped when I was going on and on about it years ago, lol!

Not very scientific but made me think.

Other bad news just in....apparently clothes shops changed our dress sizes to one size bigger. So here i am, floating around in a size 12 thinking, ah, not so bad, I may look like a cherub when naked (small and fat) but im only a 12, pass the chocs but unbeknown to me, Im a 14. The lying bastards. Off to join WW online, registration is free today!

CantThinkofFunnyName · 21/04/2010 09:53

WMDO - changed dress sizes WTF???? Well that has just RUINED my day too!!! I do WW online. Not that I've made huge progress as you can see. I console myself in the knowledge that I lost 2 stone on it a couple of years back and think if I could do it then, surely I must be able to do it now! Although, I was travelling between London and Abu Dhabi every two weeks, was running a huge event for the Abu Dhabi royal family, liaising weekly with our PM and royal ramily and Hollywood A-listers (Pitt, Jolie, Redford... Al Gore , US Government & Secret Service, (yes, get me, I used to have a life), under oodles of stress oh, and when in Abu Dhabi, barely ate but drank loads... might have something to do with it .

Right, lots of kids stuff to do today. DD1 forgot her lunchbox, so have to take that back to school, off to venue to discuss menu for christening in July, High Street for some bank stuff, prepare dinner to stick in microwave later, back to collect kids, take DD1 plus friends horse riding, back home, get kids to wolf down dinner, take DS to rugby training. F*ck this is harder work than work IYKWIM!

alibobins · 21/04/2010 11:15

mama I don't take Jacob to a CO I wouldn't even know where to start looking for one.

Health visitor spoke about repositioning Jacob when he's playing and sleeping. She did mention a helmat but said she wouldn't even consider it in a baby his age.

He now weighs in at 13lb 6oz still following the 9th centile and still in 0-3months clothes.

I love babies and do get broody but know I really would not cope with another baby I'm teetering on the edge as it is. I want to be sterilised but doctors wont refer me till I'm 30.

wmdo I hope you have a better day today with your concerns over dairy has she been unsettled since you started eating dairy again?

crumpette · 21/04/2010 11:15

WMDO even though your day was awful you still make me laugh 'talking like a budgie on speed'

sorry sorry, does sound crap. We had a scream fest day yesterday, don't know why- inconsolable screeching for a while in the evening and the neighbour clearly got v irritated by it as I heard doors slamming but, whatever, he's usually very 'good' I think it was wind

I too am alarmed at the clothes sizes. It's ridiculous in some shops I fit into an 8 and others a 12 is very very tight I could be drifting into serious obesity and I wouldn't know because the label on my trousers says 12 and keeps growing!

CTFN you are a very interesting character...!! But Hollywood aside when does your labradoodle arrive?

crumpette · 21/04/2010 11:18

mama- re the flat head, I think they resolve themselves eventually, especially once baby starts moving more in sleep and moves around more under their own steam. DD had a bit of a flat head at the back but it was gone after a couple of months. DS had one flat side to start with but he's now fine as he no longer sleeps on that side, so I'm pretty sure you don't need a helmet. I've never seen an adult with a flat head, anyway

alibobins · 21/04/2010 12:32

Okay added photo's x x
Off to hospital with Dd for another scan of hers eyes x

CantThinkofFunnyName · 21/04/2010 13:47

Crumpette - We collect Percy on Friday - whoopee!! And interesting no more I'm afraid .

Newbeginning1 · 21/04/2010 14:08

ali - Jacob is so cute!!!!

wmdo - sounds like your day was like my Monday where pretty much everything went wrong. Happy days With the jabs i've found that DS is more clingy than normal and just generally hard work but boob sorts him out and cuddles. The thing to prepare yourself for is the crying whilst they have the injections, can someone go with you for so you have some moral support? Also, with the whole labels on clothes things I could make myself feel better by crossing off the 1 in front of the 6 so i think im a size 6, i dont need the shops trying to fool me!!I know im a chunky monkey and I dont need the shops to lull me into a false sense of security.

mama2moo - £2000???? Gosh, i'm sure I could fashion something with some sticky back plastic and a washing up bottle for a fraction of the cost but i'm guessing it would also have a fraction of the success rate!!!

lottie - how are the girls being today?

ctofn - right then i have a challenge for you and i'm pretty sure you will take me up on it My friend is turning 30 this year and I want to organise something special for her. She wanted to hire a castle because everyone calls her the princess but we can't find a nice one close by. If we hire somewhere she wants to have about 8 of us there to have a party and just chill out for the weekend. She lives in Notts but is from Northampton so she wants somewhere people can get to. Have you got any ideas on venues or any ideas for any other things we can do? I want it to be something she remembers but it can't be ridiculously expensive because i'm not rolling in it being a single mummy! To give you an idea about her, she wanted to stay in a treehouse but the only one in the UK is too small for us. Her birthday is in November by the way.

If anyone else has any ideas I would be so grateful! I need to start saving now to get everything sorted and to make it special for her.

Enjoy the sunshine everyone.

sazlocks · 21/04/2010 17:47

hello all - marking my place and trying to catch up.
All good here although DS2 feeding like a demon (that'll be the 12 week growth spurt methinks). He has settled into a 9 pm til 6.15 am ish sleeping pattern which suits me just fine. I still can't quite believe that a BF baby can sleep that long but I am not complaining ! His older brother didn't sleep that long until he was 12 months old.
Other than that slowly getting used to having 2 and all the challenges it brings. Having a lovely time in the main but find it hard to get used to never being able to give either of them 100% of my attention.

CantThinkofFunnyName · 21/04/2010 19:11

New - you could try Highgate House, Rushton Hall or Broomhill Hotel. All castles/historic buildings with accommodation. Based in Nottinghamshire. HTH.

Fraochsmum · 21/04/2010 20:44

new there is a beautiful treehouse with a setting to die for in Lochgoilhead - probably out of reach from Notts, but gorgeous all the same x
Was so chuffed today, at the weekly 'bumps & babies' ( at the mat unit) the mw who gave me the weaning talk last week mentioned how much Cara had grown since then and asked if I wanted her measured again. Well..she grew 1 1/2cm since last week!! Still get people talking about her being "tiny", but at least I know she is gaining properly.
ali your photos are lovely xxx hope your dd's scan goes well too x
Wow wmdo I've never heard of anything like that from a jab, it's terrible.

alibobins · 21/04/2010 20:50

Dd's scan was clear
I'm so so happy we can stop the steroid eye drops and go back in 6 weeks to make sure it doesn't come back

new I'll try and have a think for you x x

flyingma · 21/04/2010 22:14

Not much of a real suggestion but if you are seriously worried about flat head, get your bubs to sleep in an Amby Nest - lovely round head as a result. Not sure how long it would take to re-shape a flat head tho...

Flounder We had our second lot of jabs on Monday and thankfully DS was too busy singing Old MacDonald Had A Farm with me to fuss about the pain. He cried when the needle went in but it was nowhere as blood curling as our last lot. He did have a temperature again afterwards which some Calpol soon sorted out.

WMDO Hope DS is ok from the eating mud incident.. and I second crumpette re PMSL over the budgie comment.

We had a few colicky/ windy issues with formula I think but as we were mixed feeding and he was really young, it could have been his age or even the breastmilk. Is this standard stuff or non-dairy you are giving her? Was going to suggest either trying a diff brand or different form - DS was constipated on the powdered stuff so we had to revert to using the ready-mix stuff.

I had a fussy evening today as well but it was really self-inflicted. We were out of the house today from 11 till nearly gone 5. Really would have been wise to come home after the zoo and Rhyme Time but as I am a sucker for punishment, we instead headed to Asda to run some non-impt errands where he insisted on staring at his surroundings rather than go to sleep in the buggy. So I had screaming down my ear all evening until we fought over the last bottle and I gave in the put him to bed.

Have to share an uber cute moment we had today at Rhyme Time - Aidan, entirely on his own accord, shook Duckie's wing when the glove puppet came round to say hi to him. [proud mummy icon]

Just a footnote re treehouses - one of the biggest if not, the biggest one I think is on the grounds of Alnwick Castle in Northumberland.
