wndo Jacob is on all 3 but then again I can put the Gaviscon in his bottles.
We get the omeprazole ready mixed into a liquid form on special order from the chemist its concentrated so I only give 1ml but Jacob hates it and it's hit and miss whether it stays down. I also have to collect it every week as it only lasts 7 days once made.
We haven't really got on with the domperidone it seems to make Jacob very sleepy and since I have stopped giving it his spasms seem to have stopped too.

somewhathorrified · 16/04/2010 18:07

Hey all,

CTOFN you are indeed nuts. If you get bored you're always welcome to come sort my place...I'm proud if I manange to run the hoover round the rug!

welcome zero blame wmdo for that nickname! I think you're gonna be stuck with it.

Bless Tobin had his second set of injections today, OMG it's horrible, sitting there while some evil nurse approaches with the stick of pain I don't know how you guys with poorly babies cope, that pained scream is truly unendurable.

I love carbs and would rather be a porker than give them up.

I have no memory capability anymore so don't know if I've missed anything....oh yeah, parping babies, yeah we've got one of those, we can tell when he's starting to wake up as we get a series of pop off's.

FakePlasticTrees · 16/04/2010 20:04

CTOFN - wow - i'm tired just reading that. Feeling like a very disorganised parent, I have a 'maximum 2 things a day' rule, I can only have 2 projects for the day (like go to the butchers, meet NCT group for coffee) but normally only 1 and then anything else that happens that day is a bonus.

Crumpette - DH would never use the word huge in relation to me, he knows the crying/sulking/depression at the obvious being pointed out would make his life a living hell somewhat worst.

DS has spent the day screaming at me. I'm currently drinking gin DH handed too me while he makes dinner. Yay for the weekend, I'm having my hair died for the first time in 2010 tomorrow.

flyingma · 16/04/2010 22:10

Bloody hell CTOFN! I thought I had a busy week having done 1 baby activity per day this week and some days 2 things (similar to FPT). I only get away with this coz there is only me to feed (DH works away during the week) so live off batch-cooked food that gets warmed up.

LOL at the image of Crumpette trying out the adorable bum-in-air sleep position.

WMDO It isn't selfish... something I have come to realise recently that going out = tied out baby = good nights sleep. I imagine with DS being the toddler all the more is it impt for you to get out.

Took Aidan to his first swimming class today for anyone who is thinking about it, I highly recommend it. First time in ages when he went straight to sleep when his head touched the mattress with not even a whimper... twice. (Twice coz when I went out to collect dinner, DS started to stir and when DH went to check on him, he poked his lower lip out, quivvered it and whimpered. DH said it broke his heart do gave in uncovered his blanket to find DS firmly swaddled and decided to "release" him.) sigh

flyingma · 16/04/2010 22:14

obviously that was meant to read "going out = tired* out baby = good nights sleep", not that I tie my baby up. I swaddle him really tight but I don't think you can call that tying him up. Pls don't call Social Services on me LOL

Newbeginning1 · 17/04/2010 18:48

londonlottie - Jack is exactly the same as the girls with wanting a bottle before bed. The boobs just dont cut it with him on an evening but I'm sure if I listen hard I can hear my boobs sighing relief

CTOFN - PUT YOUR IRONING, WASHING AND FURNITURE DOWN AND STEP AWAY!!! Honestly, you will give the rest of us a bad name. If I had a DP then I would definitely keep him away from the computer, I wouldn't want him reading your Wonder Woman impression I think you need to spend some time round chez Newbeginning, it's a much easier pace of life!!

flyingma - i know what you mean about swimming, it's the best thing to make the little ones sleep. We are going on Wednesday again so at least then I might get some sleep.

I got Jacks EEG results and they came back clear but i'm stressing now that they won't do any other tests when he's still not right with his eyes rolling and jerky movements so cue a determined Mummy at our follow up appointment.

Has anyone found any good things for the DC's whilst teething? Jack is chewing his hand until it's red and seems to be in a lot of discomfort. I've heard about toothbrushes that they hold and can put in their mouth but not seen any and I dont know if they're safe?

Enjoy your weekend everyone and enjoy the sunshine

Hi all,

londonlottie I am going to cut down on carbs from Monday. My weight has crept a bit as well this week but I have been eating loads. My stomach is swollen as well and it feels like I have period pains IYSWIM.

Dd has a bit of eczema, we used several different creams before finding one that worked, E45.

New Great news about Jack's ECG results. This is similar to what we gave dd1 when she was teething, she would sit and chew it for hours!

So, MIL is due back to meet babymoo in 2 weeks - What do you think the chances are? She will be flying in from the States! Fingers crossed her flight will be effected by the ash!! That would be ace Keep the dragon away for a few more weeks!

sockmonkey · 18/04/2010 07:52

new Glad Jacks ecg is clear. Hope you find out what's happening.

Lottie E45 is good, as is aquius (sp) cream. Also baths, but not too often in just water, no soap/baby bath. I took DS1 to the Docs with eczema as a baby, and got some hyrdocortizone (sp?) cream for him.
I never quite know what to take them to the doctors for either, you either feel like an over-protective newbie, or a hardened crone depending upon how long you've waited to take them & whether there is actually anything docs can do.

mama are you loving the ash? My poor DBro is supposed to be flying to states for a conference next wednesday, if it doesn't happen he will be £800 poorer, as there would be no point rescheduling flight.

I actually cant belive that flights are still not going again today. I have friends stranded in various places of the world. Luckily my sister got home from Eygpt on Tuesday. It would be ironic if it did keep MIL away, I dread her visits from the moment she books them

londonlottie Ebay is amazing for hardly worn baby clothes! I sold loads of dd1's a while ago and had only washed some of it! I think it might be worth your mum looking into alternative travel options for her stay, just in case.

flyingma · 18/04/2010 09:53

new Great re the clear EEG and we're 100% behind you being as pushy a mum as you possibly can to get them to test until they FIND OUT what is wrong with Jack. You are his mummy and you know something is not quite right so if you have to stage a sit-in at the GP/ hospital, you go girl!!

lottie Did you mean the specialist teething things or the actual original Sophie for the bubs to chew on? Aidan's little friend Zac apparently managed the other day to shove his whole fist/ hand into his gob and would up being sick all over him mummy. Apparently it is possible to fit your fist into your mouth if you have no teeth.

Aidan has a similar skin thing. We recently started using Little Me Organics bodywash and my HV reckons that has caused it. She recommended E45 but said that aqueous cream as the cheaper alternative and just as good as E45. We got a maassiivve tub for £2.20ish. Been told to lay off the bodywash (can you tell I am a new mummy) even tho it smells so yummy and just use the cream for bathing and also for moisturising. Even after a few days, it seems to be slightly better. I think the hydrocortisone is used it the rash has become inflammed, red and weepy, to bring down the inflammation. Disclaimer - I'm not a health professional just a professional hypochondriac and a hubby who has a number of skin issues.

I know what you and sock are saying coz when it started spreading, I was like well I could make an appt to see the GP but decided to see my HV instead and ask her opinion as to whether it was something more serious that needed a GP consult.

eBay is great isn't it? All my mat stuff came from there so hardly spent a penny on mat clothes. I've been quite lucky to have been given a buncha newborn and 0-3 items from my colleague who was trying to get rid of hers and not have the temptation of having number 3. Since then I have lent them on to my friend who got a whole bunch of boys clothes from her 2 nephews... who has since had a little girl so I get to pick what I want from the job lot. Woohoo! Aidan gets the random new item although I have been given a whole lot of 3-6 mth sleepsuits which aren't going to be used over summer so will probably make my rounds to the shops and swap them for other items.

How much longer are you out there or is Switzerland a permanent thing? I am sure between us we can manage to raid the Next sales etc for you when the price of stuff does come down and post it to you... oh and the supermarkets are a godsend for baby clothes coz they are nice and cheap which a good selection. I also live 5 mins from the Pumpkin Patch designer factory outlet and their little girl stuff are so cute. We were just there yesterday for a wide brimmed hat for Aidan as am planning to get us an annual zoo membership to take him out to.

somewhathorrified · 18/04/2010 10:02

Who was it that had baby that screamed when feeding? Tobin's started doing it, he'll feed for a few mins then out of nowhere pulls off and screams. Did you ever find out why? Also the last 2 days he's had a few black stringy bits in his poo, it doesn't look like dry blood or anything and apart from the feeding and an increase in drool and possiting he seems absolutely fine so I'm not worried, just wondering if there was a connection, if he had reflux, intolerance or somthing like that.

I live on ebay, not for baby clothes tho as 2 SiL's with boys have seen to it that I never need buy clothes for him...ever!

Re:dry skin conditions, if e45doesn't work try vaseline/pertoleum jelly, it works wonders for me where steroid creams did nothing!

CantThinkofFunnyName · 18/04/2010 12:07

Morning everyone. Your resident SuperWoman here . Took great pleasure in reading your posts about my activities out to DH just to let him know that I really am fabulous .

So - on the eczema front. GPs always prescribe Aqueaous Cream for the moisture and 1% hydrocortisone for the odd occasion when it is really bad, inflamed, red and causing obvious discomfort. If going to the GP is taxing, you can buy aqueaous cream over the counter, but tbh, it is always worth going to the GP anyway as then at least LO is registered as being prone to eczema/skin conditions which can be important for future medical conditions. FWIW, the consultant at the hospital was extremely interested in me and my two DCs having suffered from eczema off and on for years, plus my asthma and food allergies as it shows that we are an "allergic family" hence Olivia's reflux/cows milk intolerance would be related.

Re babies screaming when feeding, well that was me, and Lottie, and WMDO and Ali... all reflux symptoms - but then again, could always be something else too. Black bits in the poo sound like a digestive problem though so I would definitely get it checked at GP.

Re volcanic ash - I think the Icelanders misheard our requests when we asked for CASH - not bloody ash !

Re carbs - mmmm, may need to consider this as my weight not shifting anywhere near as quickly as I'd like. Although I think I'd find it really hard .

Anything else I've missed? Can't think.

So, more news from this end. Had the fright of my life last night. Olivia woke around 2.30 for a feed, dummy trick didn't work - deffo hungry. Fed her, winded (but she didn't burp), put her down again as she was zonked and for some bizarre reason, even though she had been fed, decided to sleep in the nursery on spare bed, just in case she was unsettled later. Just getting into deep sleep and heard strange sound followed by sharp intake of breath... then nothing. Felt physically sick and jumped out of bed so fast to find that she had been HUGELY sick and was choking on it. In fact, she wasn't able to breathe. Cue whipping her out of cot, turning her upside down, wallopping her back and floor being covered even more in the sick that seemed to go back down her throat. Thankfully it was followed by huge scream. I'm not sure I really slept after that (oddly enough). Note to self am totally going to make sure I regularly use the domperidone (sick medicine) to see if it makes any difference.

Olivia has only been in our lives for 16 weeks but I love her so very very much and to think of something happening to her fills me with dread and fear. I would rather throw myself under a bus. Horrible.

OK - now off to a friend's for Sunday lunch (oooh, get me, a social life)!

flyingma · 18/04/2010 12:45

OMG re the middle of the night choking episode with Olivia. Poor dear will take my lesson from it and be very careful when putting Aidan to bed without a burp which happens on ocassion at the dreamfeed.

Btw Lottie, I just bought a whole bunch of books for Aidan yesterday from this site which offers free worldwide delivery and for most of the items we looked at, were a penny cheaper than Amazon. When you are ready to do that, good place to look.

alibobins · 18/04/2010 14:36

ctofn at Olivia choking and well done to your mother's intuition.
Jacob does that without the sick but the consultant said it will be the reflux but its not coming all the way up.

Jacob has found his thumb and he looks really pleased with himself he is still not sure of his dummy so hope he doesn't get too attatched to his thumb.

He's settled to once a night feeding again but still waking on and off throughout the night which I'm hoping will stop soon.

Can a really young baby get hayfever? Jacobs eyes were all swollen last night and his face a bit blotchy?

Enjoy the sunshine x

CTOFN OMG. Thank God you stayed in her room. I remember dd1 not burping the first day dp went back to work. I laid her down on my bed whilst I got ready and she was sick everywhere. Since then I make sure babymoo burps before putting her down. I imagine you will be the same now.

ali Babymoo has been sneezing loads for the past few days and it crossed my mind it could be due to hay fever or maybe them getting used to pollen.

How many of you have your babies in their own room now? For those whos babies will share a room with older children when will you move them in? DD1 and babymoo will have to share until we can move.

Dp has asthma and is taking his inhalers everywhere with him because the ash is making him wheezy when usually he is fine. Do you think it would have any effect on our lo's? Our car has had a fine dust on it every morning for the last 2 days.

whensmydayoff · 18/04/2010 21:02

newbeg thats great re Jack's result but your right to keep going if your not happy, hope you get a clearer picture soon.

London DS had a bit of eczema around 4 mths to 1 yr then grew out of it. He was prescribed Doublebase which looks like white cream but is actually gel. It worked wonders.
DH has Eczema and has started using Aveeno which I think is even better. It is given to babies too so I use it on DS and DD if they have any dry skin and Ive started using it myself and it's fab. DH's Eczema can be quite bad and he thinks it's amazing.

I have been on a mad spending spree today . I got DD an outfit from Monsoon and one from Boots Mini Mode Collection and ordered loads from JoJoMama today. I can't reveal how much - it's sick! I don't know why and I hadn't thought of E-bay. Im going to sneak a peak. I went to Boots originally because I wanted to get loads of new plastic bowls, spoons, storage cups in prep for weaning (all BPA free). Im getting excited about it although im waiting another 4 weeks to see if she is more ready (just had some free time while DH at MiL.

Speaking of which mama2moo - you lucky moo. The bloody ash bought my MiL & FiL back to me .
They were setting off on a cruise for her retirement and had to re-book for November and returned home from Airport.
They (the most boring couple known to mankind) were on my doorstep the next day.
They POP IN unannounced, usually around dinner time, sit on their asses and bore us stupid.
Conversational skills of baboons.
FiL can clear a bar in 0.2 seconds when they see him coming.
They do a double act too. She repeats what he is saying constantly and it's all so dull.

My mum and Stepdad beg me not to invite them to things they are at lol.

Bloody volcano, could it not have waited until they got there!

DS feel off a chute and his lip is huge and he also split his gum above big front tooth. It's all bruised, swollen and split. Do any more experienced mummy's know if this will effect the tooth?

He then came home and cornered the cat who then attacked his face . He has a big puncture mark and scratch.

I'd take him to see a doc but I think they might call Social services when they see the state of him!

OH - and DD took 50mls of breast milk from a bottle tonight -

WMDO claps like a demented seal

I won't be coming on tomorrow. It's Fat Club Monday and I have been munching like starved animal all weekend - No particular reason, just a greedy fecker !

alibobins · 18/04/2010 21:15

I let Jacob munch (slobber over) my pear today he was so excited he kept tensing up and smaking his lips
I am planning to hold off as long as possible to wean properly.
We are back at the hospital 5th May so will speak to consultant then.

CantThinkofFunnyName · 18/04/2010 21:15

WMDO - don't you DARE stay away tomorrow!!!! Fat Club Monday indeed. Entertaining posters are not allowed days off .

But your poor DS! He really has been in the wars.

Anyway, just checking on really after most fabulous lunch/evening/day out with friends. . Now off to bed leaving DH in charge.

mama2moo · 18/04/2010 21:24

wmdo PMSL at your in laws! MIL is quite the opposite - She has to control everything and it has to be her way! She is 55 going on 25 I think, boob job etc! She is talking about changing her flights to later this year. Cue my 'oh no, what a shame we were so looking forward to your visit'

Oh god, I had forgotten fat club tomorrow. We had family for lunch today and my bloody mother made banofee pie. She always leaves what is left in my fridge (about half). I have already finished it off I suppose it does have banana so its not all bad

George is on channel 4 - He is looooovely. He is my new favourite, James Martin has let himself go a bit I fancy!!

Monday tomorrow so thankfully dp will be back at work after 5 days off! If the weather is nice I shall be walking to with the girls in their p and ts to try and get a nice tan! And maybe shift the banoffe pie

PMSL londonlottie. It does seem cruel to wake them doesnt it! Have you tried dream feeding? i do it with babymoo a lot now and it works a treat.

Lucky you for being drunk! I am fussy with alohol and cant stand the taste of wine!
