Hi everyone!

Bubb/Welshie hope your backs are getting better - I injured mine a few years ago so can sympathise Welshie - did you get my CAT?

KVG - sorry to hear you were a bit down. You must have been incredibly tired. I've been getting a bit exhausted lately and when i am everything seems hopeless. I feel far more optimistic after having some sleep. It's still very early days. Ds seems to sleep very well when he's out in the pram - I hope by the time you read this that you've discovered that your little one does too

Bubbs - I've had no choice but to take the bull by the horns and go out and about on my own with the baby or baby and dog - dp's been working away and he's had to stay over a few nights already. I do feel much better though for getting out of the house.

Tea- lol at your little nudy boy!

Bero - sorry to hear about you and your poor dh and the bronchitis scare for baby. hope all is well soon. Can't you take the shaver back to the shop for a refund?

Coop - happy birthday for yesterday! I've been 29 for several now - it's a great age to be

Red - sorry you're having a rough time at the moment. Dp and I are still sleeping in separate rooms too - dp is such a light sleeper, even the sound of me winding ds wakes him up even thoug hhe's in a different room. Have you blacked out the windows in the room ds is sleeping in? I have (bin liners over the blinds temporarily ) and that helps a lot in the mornings.

Lynny - poor you, i thought your dd2 had stopped all that cying on anight . Was it you that said she might have a little hernia? Fake tan - I've got some of that holiday skin which builds up gradually and naturally (alledgedly) but not had time put it on yet....

Trib - you've just reminded me my matrix came with a hood! I have been wondering how to keep the sun off him in the car! I'll have to dig it out.

Lua - ds has only ever pooed at more than 24 hour intervals and sometimes this means doesn't go for nearly 2 days. My HV says this is absolutely fine - it's the wees you've got to be concerned about. some babies only go once or twice a week according to her.

redheadmum · 21/07/2005 19:52

I have one word: DENTINOX. Tried it last night and Ds actually slept!!!!!!!!!!!! Will do it again tonight and see if its not just that baby one night only deal........

thanks for all your sympathy - its good to see that we're all finding it hard without the sleep. Realised I'm just about functioning on a very basic level.....

gosh so much to catch up on as per!

WM glad back is better - its hard to be in pain and do the kids too

Lynny thanks for the info - sounds like hard work at night.

Btw has anyone heard about candida and colic? i suffered with candida a while ago have had problems this pregnancy. I've heard the theory that this can be a cause of colic.......

Really quick message to say won't be around till the 2nd Aug and that I have ordered a twin buggy from Kiddicare and now am very worried I won't use it enough after all the fuss I kicked up about it... Oh well, too late now. Hope dd doesnt start walking with a vengeance. SHE STILL LOVES HER buggy at the mo. sorry for caps one handed again.
Woo hooo KVG and yay for your back welshie and a good night red.
TaKE Care all. xxxxx

berolina · 22/07/2005 01:41

charley, the prob is said shaver was clearly bought some time ago, so prob well out of the time limit for refunds. grrrr. ebay?
aaaaarrrgggghhhh my throat hurts (ill emoticon).
ds feeding away, which is why i'm up!

JonahB · 22/07/2005 08:52

Lua, Charley, my DS poos constantly! I?m quite envious of your cleaner nappies . Usually, it comes along during a feed and with quite a bit of discomfort I think. I keep forgetting to try the Infacol.

KVG, congrats on making it out, especially to somewhere as fab as Betty?s

Well, the whole routine thing went pear-shaped yesterday daytime. DS refused to sleep after his 2pm feed and stayed awake until after his 10pm feed. However, when he did go off, he woke me once in the night at 4am, so not too bad. Serves me right for being enjoying mine and DH?s one meal together. I did however have my first cup of mochaccino (sp?) yesterday. Do you think that could have made so much difference? Won?t be doing that again .

Have a good day everyone?..

welshmum · 22/07/2005 09:25

Morning all - Charley I didn't get your CAT - mumsnet may have my work email address so I'll CAT you with my home one.
Thanks for all the concern re my back I feel like it's well on the mend now and I'm really grateful for that.
How are the mothers of 2 doing? DD is responding well to as much 1 to 1 as I can muster, I really very proud of her. Apparently if I can get her to ds being 3 months without any major changes to the way she sleeps or regressions in toilet training then I'm through the worst. She seems much less 'sad' and her old perky self is far more apparent these days. Phew!

Lua · 22/07/2005 09:44

Hi All, gloomy day, gloomy mood--- am envious of everyone!!!

KVG - which I could go to lunch at betty's!
Welshie - You are a bery good mom! I am having a terrible time with my DD. regression on toilet, one tantrum/hour, and the answer to every quetion is either NO or I am ignored! She was such a sweet baby ! If things don't improve soon she'll have to go to boarding school
OMG, how am I going to handle when I have two teenagers???

Charley, DD was also a once a weel pooer. But what is worrying me is that DS has been very regular so far, and all of a sudden nothing. I think
I'll take him to baby clinic today and see what they say.

RHM, glad to hear things improved, I have been having luck with dentinox too.

Am very shaken with the "incidents" in London. How are the southeners taking all in? I need to come down to register DS in the embassy, but not feeling brave enough...

berolina · 22/07/2005 10:56

morning [croak]
well, throat still hurts but not as bad as last night. aaarrrgghh, that was awful. samuel slept fairly well (woke me at 2.30, see my post last night, and 6) and is in a pretty good mood this morning. best of all, he still seems well, though breathing quite 'loudly' when feeding in bed this morning.
welshie, glad things are going better with dd. again, my respect to all mums of 2 - we didn't want to leave it too long before having another (not like now or anything, though!!!) but i catch myself wondering how one copes...

welshmum · 22/07/2005 12:23

Bero - having 2 is a real shock to the system but I think you just have to crack on with it, there's no going back I guess These early days are so hard I just want to get through them. I do look enviously at friends who are 6 months ahead of me, I am trying not too as ds is just so gorgeous (when he's not in one of his unexplained yelling times of the day)
Lua - thanks for saying I'm a 'bery' good mum - I'm not at all just have a good daughter and I suspect a useful age difference between them.
I guess it might get quieter on here as we get into the hols - I'm in Wales for alot of August with no access to a computer - will miss you all.

LipstickMum · 22/07/2005 12:37

Hi all

1 handed and left handed. Motherhood of 2 is bloody hard but I feel so relieved that we are all in a similar position, makes me feel l ess useless.
Shouting at poor dd1, I hate it
see you all soon xxx

LipstickMum · 22/07/2005 12:38

OMG holidays People will be gone!! I am away soon too how will i cope?????

charleypops · 22/07/2005 14:01

Kvg - yay for your trip to betty's!

RHm - good luck with the Dentinox

Bero - if you wait until christmas you'll get agreat price on ebay for the shaver. Ds is sometimes the noisiest, messiest eater ever - especially when I feed him in bed. your sore throat sounds nasty.

Re pooing - ds hasn't been for nearly two days now - I'm taking him to the dentists with me in 20 mins - of course he's going to do a massive one while we're there isn't he

Welshie - thanks for that Lovely to hear your dd has perked up - she seemed such a jolly soul when i met her.

Lua - hope your day got better!

Hi Lippy!

Tessiebear · 22/07/2005 16:08

Hi all!!! No time to read and catch up - hope you are all well.
Joseph has settled down BIG TIME and is eating and sleeping well and generally being adorable!!!
Love the little fella to bits!!!!!
Now school has broken up i MAY get a bit more MN time - my head is in a whirl atm with end of school type things.....

redheadmum · 22/07/2005 19:09

1 word dentonox -arse! on to the next thing methinks

Lua- i m having terrible time with 1st too...she keeps saying mummy does nt love me any more, generally v uncooperative with me, but also v v sad. I've been finding it really hard to give her any one on one time because I'm so knackered and ds is soo unsettled it's difficult to have any time when he's out of my arms.and as much as I try to engage her when I'm feeding etc, she just wanders off. Like WM I think these days are just to 'get through' though I'd like to enjoy it a bit too!!

have decided to go to the docs next week with Ds, I'm really v v unhappy with his wind problem. It doesn't seem right to me that he has this problem all day and all night and is so unsettled. A friend suggested trying to get a referral to Great Ormond St, I'm not sure if this would help but am going to the docs to say that if we don't get help soon we're going to crack!!

someone asked about the bombs. I was fairly chilled but now it's happened again am feeling more nervous. Wanted to go into Oxford Circus to meet Dh for lunch and show off progeny but am now wondering whether to leave it for a bit. A first for me as was v laid back when 9/11 happened and there was a lot of fear what would happen.

bubbaloo · 22/07/2005 19:14

on the subject of poo's,my ds goes about twice a day but he also has really smelly wind,so im always checking his nappy thinking its dirty, but it usually isnt.

charley-my hv said it was quite normal for babies not to go for a few days,so i guess everyone's different!

kvg-good for you for getting out and about.we went to the park and high street again today.have had my first nightmare of a day where all he wanted to do is cry-for most of the afternoon.i was getting so frustrated that i thought i'd take him out and the walk and fresh air would do us both good and he's stop crying.
it worked but once we got home he started again!
still havent worked out why he was crying-checked everything so maybe he was just over tired or something, who knows?!!
dh even took him out for a drive when he got home from work,to make him sleep.
he is now fast asleep in his carseat,we've just ordered chinese and im shattered-not used to a crying baby!

berolina · 22/07/2005 19:31

evening!
feel a lot better, as sore throat subsided around lunchtime. wonder whether it's over or just having a break? dh feels a lot better today too. we went into town to the local English shop which was fab (chocolate digestives! Heinz baked beans with vegetable sausages! English parenting mags! Best of all: INFACOL!!!) and to an exhibition with Samuel in the baby Björn - he was awake but happy and quiet all the way round !!! Was fed immediately before and after. We then had to change his nappy in the car (not moving obv!!!) and he peed all over the place .
Bubb, sorry about your bad afternoon, and sympathy to Redhead, Welshie and Lippy. Bubb, I think sometimes they just cry for reasons known only to themselves - imagine as a small baby, how much new stuff you're always having to take in and process, and I think sometimes the apparently littlest thing can upset them randomly. Or maybe he was just tired and couldn't work out how to get himself to sleep. The car is magic for that isn't it?

bubbaloo · 22/07/2005 20:26

hi bero-your day out sounds fab.
had to laugh about samuel weeing in the car as oscar did that today all over the sofa and dh.
thats really reassuring to know that im not the only one with a baby that seems to be crying for no reason.normally(dare i say!)ds is such a happy and content baby and hardly cries so i was getting really worried when he wouldnt stop crying, thinking that something must be wrong with him.
spoke to soon...sounds like he's just woken up and he's screaming again,so im going to jump in the bath and leave poor dh to handle the screams.

MrsWednesday · 22/07/2005 21:00

It is reassuring to read that other mums of two are finding it tough because I am too (Tessie, how do you cope with three? ). I do spend a lot of time shouting at DS1 who seems to be on a mission to send me mad at times...if we make it through a day without losing it completely more than once it is a success.

DS2 (touch wood) is being such a good baby, apart from the fact he doesn't sleep past 5.30am. Oh, and he wakes up (still in our bed) at least twice in the night. The fact that we are getting a bit of our evenings back is the saving grace, really hope I don't jinx it by mentioning this (can hear him on the monitor now just waking up arrrrrrrrgh). I'm hoping one of the dream sleepers on this thread could have a word with him, explain about the benefits of sleeping through

I'd forgotton we are coming up to holiday season - we won't be going anywhere this year though so if you all bugger off I'll just talk to myself

I hope all our babies settle down and have a restful weekend so us mummies can catch up on sleep, husbands and real life in general.

LipstickMum · 22/07/2005 23:10

HI everyone

No babe in arms, or rather on boob as I type. Just a quickie before bed.

Had a horrendous morning (see earlier post) but a much better afternoon. It comes and goes.

I think I get angry with dd1, not only because she plays up, demands attention etc. but because I miss her !!!

Love to all xxx

PS. anyone bothered with any homeopathinc colic/wind/fart remedies?? There must be a thread on here if I search...

JonahB · 23/07/2005 08:46

morning all,

back to one handed typing again. DS has been a bit of a horror bag yesterday evening and is constantly demanding food. I'm hoping this is just a growth spurt and not the norm. I really have nothing but respect for you with 2 or 3. I am already dreading coping with that one (although not planning it for a LONG time ).

mrs wed, i'm not going anywhere this summer, so we can be Billy-no-mates together

LipstickMum · 23/07/2005 09:16

Quick question; how many of you are exclusively breastfeeding? And how many of you who are bf-ing have babies with colic/wind and what are you giving them? I read some of the instructions for some of the colic relief stuff in Boots yesterday and it all seems to have to go in a bottle?? Any other remedies that don't require a bottle??

tbh dd2 isn't that bad, and doesn't really scream like some of the stories I've read on here but I feel I need to be prepared!

Hiya Lynny.

You sound like you're having a lovely time with Jessica!! She's being a bit cheeky I think. Ah, if I can use a little syringe to administer the solution, that might work. I was in a bit of a panic in Boots after my crying fit in the car because I couldn't find anywhere to park... so maybe I didn't read the instructions very well.

We had a reasonable night. Feeds at 930, 2 and about 6 I think.

Also, does anyone have the instruction manual for a newborn? I seem to have mislaid mine...
