Oh Veggie - that was a fantastic bullet point round up! Yes you forgot - Rubena is growing tomato plants on her window sill and they are totally out of control!!! (Well almost)
Yeah it has bothered me about Kayz (sorry to talk about you kayz) but it's just since having ds and also knowing what dh went through as a child - I imagine her boys and hope they are ok etc. I know it happens to people all the time - and it did me once but I had no kids involved so now I can see how totally different it can be - and it just highlighted for me when yourself and Trace got upset by Poogate that to me that's not a big deal (poogate) but to others it very well could be. I don't think i'm making much sense.

I have just got back from the shops. DH is at work tonight so i have a yummy M&S dinner for 1 and a little brigette Jones bottle of Lambrusco it's only 4%

Dora - except for the part about wanting to live up north - you sound EXACTLY the same as me!! Oh gosh you could have been summing me up in your post!
Where in the SE are you living?

Right, the Lambrusco is chilling() and ds has had a massive dinner of spag bog, plus his milk so it's nearly bed time for him as soon as the Ninky Nonks have done their thing!
Then. I'm going to settle into a bit of American Idol - oh we really need a hide under the table emoticon! Oh the shame...

Turniphead1 · 18/03/2010 18:33

Wow Veggie - a fabulous precis of recent event. Spot and / or LadyT may want you to be their editor!

Hi Kayz glad you had a good time on the beach.

Congrats to the now walking babies - Jollybaby,Invisbaby and Beansbaby. The turnipbaby and ladybaby remain on their ar*ses - any others?

My Portugal trip has now gone a bit pete tong. DH couldn't get more than 3 days off work, which is just too shirt to haul 3 kids - my bright idea was that I would bring along my lovely nanny who would love to see some of Europe to help on way there and back and she could babysit of an evening. She is from the Phillipines and has full visa etc - but needs a Schengen visa (thus my FB plea, Veggie) - so this being all last minute, means I need to procure one in 2 weeks (she needs to attend in person to the Portuguese embassy and they have no appointments left and refuse to be begged). Which ain't gonna happen. So I think my trip is off. Boo hoo.

Veg I should have taken more note of your visa comings and goings because your DH has a Phillipino passport doesn't he? And that seems to be on a kind of black list of nations when it comes to the Schengen Agreement.

Katie - glad your offer was accepted. Phew!!! (i have been picturing you all this while is full Kirsty Allsop high heels and skirt pacing around making frenzied phone calls to estate agent)

Summer as others have said I would press the selling agent and emphasise you are not a panicker when it comes to survey results. I hate it when they use that old chestnut "oh the buyer was dragging their heals and the seller got fed up" yeaaaah right!

Turniphead1 · 18/03/2010 18:37

Xposted Rubena. That sounds like a delightful evening planned!! My DH is away in Cheltenham so I am going to snuggle up and watch my backlog of One Born Every Minutes and Phil Spencer Down Under (have you Aussie girls watched that? I love how much you get for your money in Perth and then DH reminds me that Perth is literally the end of the earth for us British Islers...still I do find it fascinating).

Rubena · 18/03/2010 18:43

Oh yes Turnip I watched them all - when you see the one where he goes to the Sunshine Coast - that's where I'm from! I think it's one of the last episodes - if not the last in that series!
I've seen all the OBEM's too - quite good / funny - you'll particularly get a giggle from watching "Joy" and also all the dumbass dh's of the women in labor!

Rubena · 18/03/2010 18:44

Oh and I meant to say hello to Tortoise earlier! [waves]

spotofcheerfulness · 18/03/2010 18:53

yes, please be my editor, Veggie, I need some serious pruning of waffle!

I realised I forgot to reply to LadyT after asking about the book/agent situation - sounds tricky, especially when you know the other side of the industry and could probably place yourself in your agent's shoes very well. But it's great that you're defending your character and narrative, I think that implies you're probably on the right lines. Is there any way you could not look at/think about it for a few days and return with fresh-ish eyes?

Rubena, am jealous of your evening adn may follow suit. Was going to go to yoga tonight but am shattered, spend 2 hours this morning clutching my nethers in agony, seriously it was like I was in labour, really sharp pains, and I have a feeling it's a bit of bowel/gut inflammation. Really scared T, I was lucky DP was working from home and able to take him into another room while I howled like a banshee.

Kayz, glad you had a nice (if cold) day at the beach. What's your brother's take on everything?

Turnip that's really rubbish about your trip . Is there no wriggle room with DH's work? They sound very unreasonable.

Hurrah for the house Katie.

Veggiemummy · 18/03/2010 18:53

Oh sorry about the tomato thing Rubs you provoked my thoughts on the Kayz thing in the rest of your post so I forgot about the Toms, what was the question? (see this thread isn't mushing my brain it's thought provoking!)

Turnip. He's not actually Phillipino, just born there. When we arrived here we didn't need a visa but had to 'simply' (ha) register for residence in the Netherlands, you is entitled to nowt in this country until your registered, no health care, benefits, a house, car, nothing which is actually quite a good system because no one gets missed and everyone pays their taxes. But to register you have to show your birth certificate and wedding cert if necessary and these need to be apostilled (because obviously an official birth certificate isn't official enough). Anyhoo I was born in Oz, DH in The Phips, the boys in UK & we were married it Italy!!! Thankfully the Italians had the forsight to not only give us translations of our WC is 10 different languages but also to apostille them. Unfortunately though the phillipines are not signed up to the Hague (ironic) convention on 'getting stuff officialised for international things and all that guff'. Sooooo (I know it's getting boring now) the boys and I are all sorted after having to send our certs back to our countries of origin to have someone look at them and say 'yes that's real' and charge us for the priviledge. But Steve has had to have several people from the The phillipines and the Phips Dutch consulate look at his and well right now we've no idea where it is. We have paid a company a large sum of money to sort it out but I think DH feels he might have to bribe someone to finally get the document back, which is apparently quite normal over there.

Not sure if the writer ladies would want me as editor but maybe I could do the foreword! How's this. This lady is lovely she writes nice stuff, enjoy the book. Love veggiemummy!

Veggiemummy · 18/03/2010 19:00

Gosh Spot that's horrible about your bits, do you think you should see someone?

I've got an idea I think both you ladies should send me your work then I get to read it first could give you a fresh perspective, you know a punters view, not that I'm having IVF, but, you know I'm a reader, then general public.

OP posts:
Veggiemummy · 18/03/2010 19:02

Well you've got it right there Spot just cut and paste, I only cost 20% of your royalties.

Turniphead1 · 18/03/2010 19:39

veg that sounds like a nightmare - I knew your DH wasn't Phillipino, just born there. I like your forward.

Ouch spot that sounds awful. keep an eye on that and maybe see someone?

I had a sudden DUUUUR moment about DD's "asthma" or whatever attack on Tuesday. I think it must have been as a result of Kelly Bro.ok's dog having been in there Monday (she is allergic to dogs). THen on Tuesday the room was cleaned which may actually have stirred up more dog dander.

Turniphead1 · 18/03/2010 19:40

"foreward". Maybe I could volunteer as the typesetter. Or perhaps not. My posts are littered with errors.

How is aubs today? Hope she had a better one after yesterday.

Turniphead1 · 18/03/2010 19:41

"foreword" my goodness. I am getting worse!

MomOrMum · 18/03/2010 19:42

Why is One Born Every Minute not on the bloody V+ TV on Demand thingy, and more importantly what is this new Phil Spencer show?? I need to comb the V+ frantically to find it.

Can you tell DH is away and I am boooorrrrreeeedddd. Could do housework, but I already feel enough of a martyr after working all week and dealing with DS and his dodgy nights that I can't also tidy up on top of that.

Kayz - Good to see you. Hope you're okay.

Daisy - . I would be really upset if my DH peeked on here. Kind of like reading someone's diary.

Trace - Sorry you're having a hard time. Hope you can rejoin us soon. We're thinking of you.

Veggie - Great bullet point update!

Doras - Nice to meet you properly. Hope you can visit us often!

Off to make dinner. I'm holding off on the cheerfulness until I can figure out if my oops is an OOOPS. Have to say, the signs and symptoms have not abated. I will be excited but also, selfishly, a bit annoyed that I didn't party more this past year! Not quite mentally prepared to give up my wine habit yet.

katie3677 · 18/03/2010 19:47

LOL Veggie, loved the summary.
Turnip, yes I am EXACTLY like Kirsty , except I never wear skirts or heels .
I've got this hen weekend on Saturday and am really beginning to dread it. I still haven't really found anything to wear, and really just feel like sleeping all weekend to catch up and knock this virus on its head. Also there are ishoos with a couple of the girls going. Long story, but I used to live with the hen and she appears to have had some falling out with me without me knowing about it ie. she told a few of our mutual friends that I did something/ behaved badly (I still don't know what) and these friends haven't spoken to me since, so a little bit nervous about my reception. The hen is a bit of a shit stirrer, so God knows what was said. I suppose I should look at this as an opportunity to find out what was said and make amends, but don't really want to hijack the hens weekend...or apologise for something I'm not sure I did!
Anyway, ignore me I'm procrastinating

Rubena · 18/03/2010 19:54

OH Mom - I wonder if it's another lillun!! If so, when would you be due? Must be November then? can't wait for you to test... when will that be?
The Phil Spencer downunder show was a series of 4 or 5 episodes but it was on a few weeks back - unless it's started up again? I just searched Sky and can't see it.

Veggie - the Q was just that the little tom plants are in a pot on my window sill and they are going mad!! Growing about 2 inches a day and i'm not sure if I'm spose to plant them outside yet or is it still too cold? I think they are running out of room in the pot they are in!

MomOrMum · 18/03/2010 20:13

Rubes - Sunday would be Day 10 I think, so maybe it would show up by then? Do they work that early? Otherwise early next week for sure.

Rubena · 18/03/2010 20:18

Yeah could do with one of the quite sensitive ones - give it a go!!!

WomanwiththeYellowHat · 18/03/2010 20:36

MOM I have always been able to get a positive test by Day 10 (i get sore thighs as my earliest pregnancy symptom, which I have never found documented but was very definite each time) and have always tested very early.

Effie / Rubena - I am in SW London - is anyone else?

Turniphead1 · 18/03/2010 21:21

Dora - I get sore legs !!! very very early on. And my Minstrels (sweets) tasted gross. And I got a bfp on Day 10 also. (I also think that the more kids you have the more you can feel things like ovulation, implantation etc - maybe because your inners are knackered??)

Mom - this is most exciting. You are very good about the cheerfulness. When I was having my odd Minstrel taste/sore legs thing, I deliberately had 3 glasses of wine on the basis that I didn't know I was pg and also because there is no placenta to cross at that stage (which is really really naughty I must say )

Rubena · 18/03/2010 21:25

I did the same Turnip!

Dora - I was in SW but now Nth Surrey

katie3677 · 18/03/2010 21:27

Rubes, is it you who lives in Carshalton? Seem to remember someone talking about having their baby at St Helier's, which is where I had DS. Just wondered what others thought of it.

Rubena · 18/03/2010 21:43

Nup not me Katie - not sure who that is? Don't think it's one of the regulars

Veggiemummy · 18/03/2010 21:44

Do you mean day 10 after ovulation or after the deed? I think I was abe to get a positive about 3 days before i was due but I think there are even more sensitive ones now.

Rubs I'm not really sure I might need to consult my veggie book. I think it's ok if you can somehow cover them in case there is a frost. Also they do grow at an alarming rate so you need to be prepared with sonething sturdy for them to grow up. I made a wall with bamboo and one of my tomato plants pulled it down!
