Where's Carshalton.

Bugger I feel like minstrels now, or Maltesers.. When is trace coming back?

I meant day 10 after ovulation (when I'm guessing ovulation might have been, that is).

I hope I don't end all this excitement by telling you that, actually, I just have a cold/hayfever, insomnia, and am bloated from eating too much chocolate.

katie3677 · 18/03/2010 21:52

Pretty rough area of Surrey/ Sarf London, near Sutton, or the part I lived in was anyway. We had a shooting outside our house and crack dealers living opposite. Not an ideal place to bring up DC's, thus the move back to Herefordshire.
LadyT has been quiet this afternoon, she must be hitting the book(s) hard!

SummerLightning · 18/03/2010 21:54

turnip I got a negative pg test early this pregnancy so went out and drank a fair bit. Then tested a week later and it was positive - oops.
katie sorry that hen do sounds a pain in the arse. I hope it's more fun that it sounds!! Hopefully your friend wouldn't invite you if you'd "supposedly" done something so bad. I had a similar situation years ago where a male workmate of mine stopped speaking to me as apparently I insulted his girlfriend. Very strange, as no-one would tell me what form this insult took and I had no memory of it. He hasn't really spoken to me since (and this was 10 yrs ago now!).

Thanks for advice on estate agent. THink I shall ask him next week. We aren't planning on putting in an offer straight away anyway - don't think they would take us seriously as we haven't sold ours yet anyhow. I wonder if he will fess up and if so if he will be sheepish about it. turnip, is that a common line then, that the buyer was just taking too long over stuff?? And is it normal to outright lie like that?? I had dodgy experiences with estate agents in London but I thought the Cambridge ones seemed a little more straightforward when we bought here last time.

Oh I have a busy day tomorrow, we have viewings on our house, also I have 20 week scan at 8:30, plus DH is buggering off snowboarding. So I have to get up, get DS to nursery for 8am, get house tidy enough for viewings, go to scan, do a full days work, come home, have dinner, re-tidy house for weekend viewings, then drive to my parents house which is 2.5 hrs away, as I'm going to stay with them while DH is away. I feel exhausted just thinking about it. Well I hope 20 week scan is OK, that is the main thing!!

veggie I loved your update!!

WomanwiththeYellowHat · 18/03/2010 22:03

at the sore legs - I thought I was unique!

re: St Helier's - it is the hospital where I have post-natal care. I had the babies at St George's which (although I know this is not the received wisdom) I actually loved. Partly because they brought my beautiful girls into the world but also because they have been great through the bumpier bits of pregnancy. Have heard really great reports of St Helier, but don't like it so much myself, no reason really it just seems quite old-fashioned but the actual midwives were lovely.

Rubena · 18/03/2010 22:05

Summer mine's tomorrow too!
ooh Katie - no I'm on the other side of the M25
Grey's Anat was good I'm like Kayz today - documenting everything I do except not on FB Kayz - are you coming back tonight?

SummerLightning · 18/03/2010 22:07

Rub are you finding out if it's a boy or girl? We've decided not to this time.

katie3677 · 18/03/2010 22:13

Rubes, yeah I got my North and South mixed up
Dora, I thought St Heliers was great but then I didn't have anything to compare it to. Midwives were fantastic, had one very dodgy consultant though who wanted to break DS's arm to get him out
Right, I've been on here far too much today and need to get my arse to bed in case we have another dreadful night.
Sleep dreams all

katie3677 · 18/03/2010 22:15

Sweet dreams that should be, one would hope they're sleep dreams

Rubena · 18/03/2010 22:16

G-night katie,
Summer - yes indeed but keeping it under wraps

WomanwiththeYellowHat · 18/03/2010 22:22

Katies - arm breaking sounds familiar - am I right in thinking that you have very big babies? (sorry if it isn't you - I just had a vague memory from late night skim reading!). I also produce 10lb babies (2 cs here) so broken arms and shoulders was one of my biggest fears (hence elcs second time).... anyway, lovely to 'meet' you all properly and thank you for welcoming me even if i'm coming very late to the party

LadyThompson · 18/03/2010 22:24

Katie, I think it was Verso, actually. Hey, that hen night sounds like a right vipers' nest. Can you suddenly get ill? I think you might need to.

Just been chortling at Cutting Edge, which was about The Lady and Rachel Johnson being the editor. She's fab!

I'm really sad for Daisy that she's had to go. It's such a shame.

Invis, it's great you've got another application off, you need to give yourself lots of options (as you well know). When you have a range of possibilities, I think it helps clarify what you really want.

Kayz - sorry not to offer a breakdown of what has happened with Poogate but I feel it wouldn't be wise! Veggie's resume was brilliant. I know you have a lot to do but pop in when you can as we all fret about you. You are being very brave.

Anyway, it was, Veggie, it was inspired. I loved it

Kiwi - 12 hours sleep since Sunday? Grim-ola. I do hope tonight bucks the trend.

JB - was v interested to hear about your viva experience. Poor you. Having someone else look at it is exactly what I need but I need to obey my agent first! Also, the person I would naturally show it to (a good friend who is a senior editor) is going to be on the submission list so I can't show it to her.

Rubes - hang fire with the toms. It's too early and too cold to put the poor little chaps outside. Repot them for now, and then put them outside next month. How was the Lambrusco?

Dora - nice to hear a bit more about you. I am a refugee from West London now reluctantly relocated to darkest Oxfordshire. I was made redundant after mat leave so have just written a book.

Turnip - what a downer about Portugal. Crossing fingers you get the visa sorted for the nanny. Where there's a will there's a way! I bet you are right about N's reaction being to KB's dog, you know.

Spot - your poor bits! Sounds awful! Hope it's gone.

Mom - I'm excited. Remember my boobs hurt on about Day 2 after conception I'm eager for another member of our subset of Dec 08 preggos. Also, at only 12 weeks on Mon I feel like I am lagging behind the big girls so it would be nice to have someone to lag behind me You ARE good with the cheerfulness. I haven't stopped drinking coffee (mind you, I have 2-3 cups a day, I don't think that's bad).

MMm, I have still got bad thirst. The sickliness is abating a bit but I am still really off green veg. Lovely green beans made me wretch last night when I put them in my mouth. I made a nice soup tonight, though, out of a lentil weavery book called The Vegetarian Mother. It scares DP even though he bought it for me. But I am not ready to ditch the nail varnish and start using tofu as deodorant just yet

Cheltenham Gold Cup tomorrow, ladies! Surely SOMEONE is having a bet with me. Urbane, where are you?

LadyThompson · 18/03/2010 22:32

Cross posted with TONS of you then. Yes, Katie, I have been TRYING to work today (it went a bit better, not least because I put the laptop out of reach ) I tell you what though, you have all managed to gas a lot without me!

Dora, I forgot you'd been lurking - you probably know all about me as I never shut up

Good luck for tomorrow's scans, Summer and Rubes!

Unusally for me I am reading a pretty lame book called Agatha Raisin and the Quiche of Death which I got free with a magazine. It's crime (which I also never read), but quite soft crime. But I like it because it's set in the Cotswolds so I can keep going to myself "Coo! She's mentioned so and so a place!" I think I need to get out more Saturday morning's four day trip to London has come just in time....

JamInMyWellies · 19/03/2010 06:45

Right you lot. I fell off the thread before as I couldn't keep up, will you all stop nattering quite so much. .

DH is off on a training walk tonight, he is doing 3 peaks challenge. So will catch up then.

Don't talk too much today.

EffiePerine · 19/03/2010 06:59

Good luck for your scans Summer and Rubes .

Spot: how's the tum? Sounds v painful. Is there a chance it could be a cyst? Glad dh was there to help.

Loved the summary Veggie. I have now been headbutted by ds2 as well, resulting in a nose bleed at gawd knows o'clock this morning. Anyone else have a child with violent tendencies? No idea how to deal, apart from a firm 'no'.

Dora: I'm in Essex but I work in central London. On the train as I type.

sybilfaulty · 19/03/2010 07:22

Hello girls

Am just bookmarking for later. Busy day here. iT'S dd2'S BIRTHDAY TODAY PLUS THE SPORT relief mile so DD1 needs fancy dress, plus I have about 10 3 year olds coming for a party tomorrow and the house is awful.

What a lot of action on this thread over the last few days. Hope everything is sorted now , and welcome to everyone who is lurking or who has joined us.

I had dinner with the lovely Verso last night who is in fine form and looking GORGEOUS. Twas a splendid evening.

Right, shower. 3 weeks ago today I was in a cab to Kings ready to meet my lovely daughter (planned CS). How time flies.

sybilfaulty · 19/03/2010 07:32

Sorry, huge amounts of luck and love to Rubes and Summer. I hope everything is fine and dandy for your babies and that you get a good look between the legs (even if you aren't telling....)

Rubena · 19/03/2010 07:52

Thanks ladies. Summer good luck with yours - Last time i wasn't one bit stressed about any scans but this time a teeny bit stressed about them - dunno why - perhaps just being older adn the fact that ds has been pummeling babyrubes a bit more than the dog used to him

Sybs don't worry about your house - the 10 hyear olds won't care or are their parents coming? I didn't know you knew Verso! I'm so slow - where did you go for dinner? I hope there were copious amounts of cheerfulness consumed?

How are you today Spot?

Effie - you've been in the wars! can't help with the violent tendancies - ds doesn't really show any although a couple of times he's sort of whacked me in the face playing and when I reacted saying yow he thought it was funny so repeated it but I very very sternly said NO and he soon stopped. He's a bit sensitive though.

JamInMyWellies · 19/03/2010 08:36

Masses of luck to those with scans today.

Syb I presume you meant 3yrs ago.

Veggiemummy · 19/03/2010 09:04

Gosh I quite excited about the girls scans today, how sad am I?

Effie, DS1 was the complete opposite of violent, we
were once told in a Buddhist monestry that they thought he is a reincarnated monk (who clearly wasnt a good monk because he came back to us rather than to nirvana). Anyway he never hit bit pinched or slapped even when kids did it to him. DS2 on the other hand does def have a bit of a hit. We are just telling him no, it doesn't always stop him but we figure if we just stay consitent with showing we don't like it etc hopefully one day it filter through. We try to not make too much of a deal as we're more into rewarding good behaviour and ignoring bad but hitting etc is hard to ignore (esp when I don't cut his nails enough). With the biting though he stopped it after he bit while feeding once and I took the boob away. He did like that consequence.

LadyThompson · 19/03/2010 09:05

I'm starting to think Sybs has an exciting parallel life that she doesn't post about - transgendered husbands, a baby daughter three weeks ago....

Rubena · 19/03/2010 09:09

Yes I agree Lady - she needs to come clean,I feel like we hardly know her

Veggie - you're not sad..... I'm excited so it's always nice when others are excited for me too especially when the family is on the other side of the world most of which are becoming quite self centred amongst other things

Veggiemummy · 19/03/2010 09:11

Oops I mean he didn't like the consequences.

Also something DS1 never did was throw tantrums, DS1 cries but has never screamed or thrown himself about. DS2 on the other hand has already thrown so many i've stopped counting. We tend to be at home so I just ignore him, what do others do when their LOs throw them?

OP posts:
Veggiemummy · 19/03/2010 09:13

And a house full of ten year olds, Rubena can you explain where Sybs 10 year olds came from?

OP posts:
Aubergines · 19/03/2010 09:26

Just a quickie as it's taken most of my commute just to catch-up.

Good luck to Summer and Rubes for your scans. Has Beans had her 20 week scan yet? Do we know what's she is having (confused emoticon).

Nice to hear from you Kayz. Glad your coping so well.

Welcome Dora, I am West London based. Also have 10lb plus babies plus they are two girls. And I too second guess myself a lot. You should fit right in!

Effie, you need to sleep in body armour.

DD2 was 15 months yesterday and our health visitor celebrated by doing her 12 month check. All is well but I was astounded to find she is under the 50th centime for weight. In my mind she is HUGE for her age but I clearly have distorted perception. I guess I have always thought she is massive because her birth weight was 99.6th centile. Plus she eats like a horse. She often eats more that me at lunchtime. I actually was worried I was hideously over feeding her so I am v pleased about the weight.

LadyT - have you booked your Sweden tickets? I am going to do so this morning. Soooo excited.

Oh, on the topic of exciting mini-breaks, we have booked to camp with the kids at Latitude Festival in July. I think we are mad as I don't do camping and I don't do festivals. However a group of friends are going and at a drunken dinner party I foolishly told them it sounded a great plan. Before I knew it they had reserved tickets for us too. I actually think it might be fun. My mum was a right child of the 60s and dragged the toddler me to Glastonbury, Elephant Fair and Greenham Common. I loved it then so hopefully the DCs will have a similar experience. Has anyone else done festivals with kids (Veggie?).

Oh, and I am on a training day with the infamous Finance Director who still hasn't acknowledged my apology. Plus I couldn't find my Spanx this morning so have to present to the course with a wobbly tummy. Today might be another bad day.

That wasn't a quickie was it? This train is taking forever!
