Rubena · 19/03/2010 09:40

LOL! Veggie!!! I'm pregnant

Beans come on here and say something stupid please!! Summer never does.....

Aubi - there is actually a confused emoticon - I use it all the time

Rubena · 19/03/2010 09:41

Oh and 10 - 3 year olds definitely won't care if the house is a mess - they'll do that in 2 seconds flat won't they?

Rubena · 19/03/2010 09:45

I just had to sew up my top with the wings as it got a hole in the seam - already popping out of my preggo tops - great. I'm wearing it to the scan as it is the only top I don't feel quite as fat in and it's very scan friendly... I really must get another - beans did you find it in another colour yet? I'm going to have a look today. I can feel the little minibean moving a lot today - perhaps h / she is excited about the scan too

Oh and I think Beans didn't find out about the sex - I wish she would find out and tell us - it's not fair

SummerLightning · 19/03/2010 09:51

Hello, quick one from work, been for the scan and everything is good. Sorry, didn't find out the sex!!! I think beans has had her scan but also isn't finding out? Well I don't think she knew in advance last time.

Sorry I haven't said anything daft rubes, I do do some daft things in real life though when pg.

Anyway I have to do some work today as I got woefully little done on Wednesday what with all the silly debacle going on. It was amazing how much of my attention it took up! (I may be female but I can't multitask)

Good luck Rubes, I always get a bit nervous too. I can confirm DS has been kicking the new one a lot too, and my new one seems to be fine!!

SummerLightning · 19/03/2010 09:52

Oh and DH felt the mini-me move last night for the first time, which I was amazed by as I think it was much later last time. This one has seemed much less wriggly but found out today that the placenta is at the front so that might explain it.

LadyThompson · 19/03/2010 09:52

Don't worry - I'll be blabbing about the sex of mine - assuming they can tell...

Veggiemummy · 19/03/2010 10:02

Dora meant to say I had my DD1 at The Birth Center which is right next door to St Georges I would have gone there if their had been any probs. Heavy babes don't necessarily mean broken bones it's big shoulders that's the prob. Though the bigger the bub the more likely the wider shoulder deal. There is a simpler non breaking way of getting them out these days which doesn't involve breaking bones, but only really experienced midwives tend to know how to do it. My birthing fear was the cord around the neck. It's quite common I know but scared the hell out of me!

Aubi we went to Camp Bestival in Dorset. I think the key is be very layed back about the whole weekend pick some gigs you like to see but don't expect that you'll be able to see them all. Pack into as few backpacks as possible as you may have to carry everything from the car to campsite which could be a long way. Camp high if you can in case of bad weather. Take loads of wipes and antibacterial wipes you prob won't get a shower. If you can take a wheel barrow or something to carry the LOs in. We saw loads of people pushing the LOs in carts or wheelbarrows is a great idea as they get tired and the festivals are quite spread out. Food is expensive so see if someone in the group can take a cooker as you can all cook together even if it's just pasta. Take welllies and rain gear just in case.

Could they not see anything Summer or did you not want to know? DH didn't feel either of my boys kick until 24 weeks and they were very active boys so yours must have quite a foot on him.

Turniphead1 · 19/03/2010 10:08

quickie as I am off to Alfie's Antiques (big retro vintage furniture cave in Lisson Grove ) with a client. My favourite way to spend someone else's money. She is also my ONLY client with a big budget so it will be fun!

LadyT - your comments about Sybs other life made be larrf. Can you pl text me your address?
Also - who will we bet on in Gold Cup. DH is there and told me to call him to place a bet but have no time to look up runners and riders.
Aubs - hope all ok with miss snooty finance director! Bet your tum isn't that noticeable!

Jam - best of luck to your DH in his peaks challenge.

katie3677 · 19/03/2010 10:17

Yep Dora, that's me, 11+ lbers!
Jam My DH is also doing the Three Peaks Challenge in Spetember. Has only been for one run in training so far though .
Good luck with the scans today girls.
Veg, both of mine are big tantrum throwers, with DS the only thing that stopped him in public is basically taking the piss out of him by laughing and walking away, not very kind, but he soon stopped. DD only does them at home so far, but I expect I will do the same with her, although she is a full on bitch when she's angry so may be a bit more difficult!

traceface · 19/03/2010 10:21

hello ladies
Golly we're over a quarter through this new thread already!
Hello to tortoise and dora - really nice to get to know you both more. And ski - can we not suck you in? Go on...
Sorry for my recent misery - and i wasn't going off in a huff about things. It's just I'm struggling with the PND (is it even 'PN' now?) and coming on here to find 'strangers' and upset just made me think "this is not going to help how I'm feeling" so thought I'd preserve myself!
Anyway - feeling a bit brighter today and have my lovely GP appt tonight. Aunt Flo came at the end of last week and I'm wondering whether the hormones are playing a role in my mood. Also I'm only really doing 2 BFs now so yet more hormonal changes - well I like to think that might be a contributory factor rather than accept I'm just losing it and am destined to struggle for ever...
But like I said, I'm feeling much brighter today and the sun is shining so I'll stop being so self-centered.
Veggie I loved your summary of recent events . Also just wanted to echo what everyone else has said about how amazing and strong you have been in your huge move away. You really are an inspiration with your attitude and positivity (is that a word or is it just something the Spice Girls made up to rhyme with 'free'?). I hope your new MN friendship becomes a real source of strength and fun for you both.
Effie poor you. People will be wondering what is going on behind closed doors in your house! I too have a bit of a brute - it's generally done in excitement and she does have a bit of an obsession with faces, so is often whacking our faces or poking at out eyes and noses. We're trying to say a firm 'no' but she seems to find that funny! She managed to draw blood from my face last week in an over-enthusiastic moment
Kiwi I feel for you so much. About a month ago I think our dds were pretty similar and P was doing the whole 'if mummy's there I only want her - and really only the option of sucking her boobs' thing. But it has actually settled down a lot, with no particular wisdom from me. I think I offer her snacks more to distract her (not sure if this is a good thing or not) but she has calmed down. I know that's not any help, but it might offer a little hope. And don't feel bad about not enjoying her - they all go through phases that try us and our emotions. Hope things pick up for you soon
where are urbane and zj?
daisy my dear. You will be missed on here so much - but I completely understand why you are taking a step back and I admire and respect you for it. Your dh may be 'wrong' in his behaviour but he is so vulnerable at the moment that you are right to prioritize your marriage. I really hope he feels better soon and that while you're away from us you will both be getting support from your church friends and family. I know you said you will hopefully lurk - we'll keep saying hi to you in case! And we look forward to seeing you back when things settle - and they will. Much love xxx
wg how's the back?
and spot - how are the nethers? That sounded so painful - did you get it checked out?
Hope all the scans go well. summer glad to hear things are all well with summerbump
There was more wanted to say but it's gone...
I'll be back later xxx
Oh and veggie was it Maltesers that made you think of me earlier?!!!

Veggiemummy · 19/03/2010 10:35

Um...yes Trace

OP posts:
KiwiPanda · 19/03/2010 10:56

Morning all. Thanks again for all your support, it's really meant a lot to me. Had a slightly better night though I still feel utterly exhausted today. And slightly dreading the weekend - DH is off tomorrow then I have Sunday and Monday alone with DD which right now seems like a punishment not a joy!

Dora I'm SW London as well. But probably a bit to the W of you - DD was born at Kingston Hospital.

Incidentally, when you give your DDs and DSs milk now - whether it be cow, goat or kangaroo - how much do you give?

tortoiseonthehalfshell · 19/03/2010 11:14

waves back at Rubena and trace and all the other nice welcoming people

Why why why is it that everyone in RL tells me that a 2.5/3 year gap is optimum, and yet all my online friends (here and on another parenting forum) with kids the age of mine are knocked up again?

I am so envious. Drinking wine to remind myself of the good bits of not being pregnant, but if we had a sulking emoticon I'd be overusing it right now.

Kiwi, my daughter has 3 bottles a day of 150ml/5 oz each, and if she wakes at night she gets another, or I breastfeed her, and that tends to be a bit less than during the day. She eats like a horse, too, but is that a lot of milk compared to others? I feel like she should be cutting back by now. But she eats well and she's a slim little thing, so I roll with it.

Veggie, odd question but you don't post on a US forum under a biscuit-related nick, do you?

SummerLightning · 19/03/2010 11:20

veggie no I didn't want to know!!

tortoise everyone I know in RL with DCs the age of ours are also holding off a bit, and think I am "brave" (read between lines - mad!). I am the only one up the duff (oh actually I tell a lie I do have one mad friend who is having her fourth with a 15month gap between 3 and 4). Most annoying as I need some maternity leave pals. Fortunately my friends from last time all work part time so I am hoping I can just see them on the days that they are not working.

LadyThompson · 19/03/2010 11:23

Oh Turnip, I LOVE Alfie's Antiques ...it's not far from my flat (and indeed, I nearly bought a flat off Lisson Grove once but it fell through)

Summer - really glad the scan went well and sorry the cheeky little monkey was coy about the sex!

Trace, it's lovely to see you back. I agree that hormonal changes have such a huge effect on how one feels.

Aubi, I have booked flights, yes. What we are doing is flying to Stockholm (I SAY that, it's Ryanair so 60 miles away) on the Weds, getting our hire car then driving down to the coast for a couple of days. We will drive back up to the wedding town on Friday (I am in that other hotel as they had rented out that little apartment which I thought we had actually booked, and I suspect they just got a longer booking) then leaving on Sunday morn for a couple of days in Stockholm before we go home. Hotels in Sweden seems to be £££, although the hotel in the wedding town seems reasonable enough. What are your plans? Hope to see you lots.

Oh and Kiwi, DD is still on about 6 x 200ml a day. Plus a sippy cup with water. She is a thirsty Gertie.

Effie - DD pinches me when she is cross with me - I do say no in a firm voice but it doesn't actually stop her, so not solved that one yet...Sorry about the headbutt.

Right, must work!

Rubena · 19/03/2010 11:44

right - got to get ready now but Tortise, ds is on 3 cups of cows about 200ml each time, and eats kind of average - 3 meals a day and a yoghurt, lots of rusks etc and some apple sometimes then otherdays he really gets fussy and will cut back on everything. He's 15 months and I weighed him yesterday on our scales which I think are weighing 1 kg or 2 heavier than normal and he was 10.5kg - he's very slim but quite tall.

Right must get ready

TheInvisibleHand · 19/03/2010 12:15

I used to live near Alfies too, although def browsed rather than bought at the time...have fun!

Kiwi - DS drinks 2x7oz bottles of milk a day, and not always all of that. I think that's relatively little though compared to others, but he does like his food...

tortoise and dora nice to have some new faces!

yay for scans and movements for the pg ones!

MoM - meant to say, look forward to hearing the outcome!

I think on age gaps, there is pros and cons with whatever you go for, so I wouldn't worry too much about it. I quite like my two being close in age, but I probably didn't think too hard about coping with 2 little ones.

Beans33 · 19/03/2010 12:27

Hi Everyone! How are you doing/

Again a quickie but in answer (spotted my own name questioned as I am v self-obsessed!) - I had my 20 week scan a while back - am now 26 weeks, I think. Didn't find out what it is - like the surprise! But it had long legs, which made me laugh as DH and I both have little stumpy ones!

And didn't find the batty top in another colour.

I've missed so much in the past few days, I don't know if I can catch up! Sorry!

xxxx

WomanwiththeYellowHat · 19/03/2010 13:35

DD2 is on 2 milk drinks - 1 with breakfast and 1 at bedtime (which is still a bottle). She is not a very 'milky'baby, and I always struggled to get the right amount into her before 12 months as she is the queen of the half finished bottle and, as I mentioned earlier, is quite strong minded when she doesn't want to do something!

I have learnt that the best way to get it into her at bedtime is to launch a covert operation and leave the bottle on a chair or on the stairs, which she wanders off and finds and then drinks! If I try to cuddle her and give her the bottle, she won't take it . Maybe she will grow up to be a spy???!

LadyT - Lady and the Revamp was fantastic last night - I laughed and laughed. My business partner is a (male) version of her - brilliant, but with absolutely no tolerance for fools! I fear I therefore end up behaving a bit like the weak wristed Ben

Beans33 · 19/03/2010 14:55

Veggie - DD had the cord wrapped round her neck twice when she came out and is fine! Phew.

Oh my gosh, I am feeling absolutely enormously pregnant now - and still got 3 months to go, damn it! And am bloody exhausted. When does 3rd trimester start? I hope it's soon, then can start having afternoon sleeps!!! Wish I wasn't working.

DD has 2 milk drinks too - morning cup and then an evening bottle - about 7oz each. Although am going to try to get evening one to a cup as well next week. I love the bottle, but think she's ready to move on. She's opposite to Dora (hello!) as she loves lying on my knee having the bottle!

SummerLightning · 19/03/2010 15:00

i have a milk lover too, he still has about 550 ml a day. 200 morning, evening and 150 in the afternoon. Morning and evening in a bottle, i think he'd faff around too much with a cup so we'll stick with a bottle for now.

Is this too much? Do you think I should cut out the afternoon milk now??

Beans33 · 19/03/2010 15:19

I don't know about too much - I only cut out the 3rd bottle a couple of weeks ago as DD had lost interest. One of my mates cut it out at 7 months. So I guess it's when you think they're ready not to have it any more.

Got a viewing on the house at 6.15 tonight - really want it to sell asap. But no one biting so far. Feedback from estate agent was that they all think it's lovely, but that upstairs is a bit small. Erm... What am I meant to do about that? knock through to next door???!

It's up on all the websites and stuff now, which is great! Hurray!

So glad the scans went well Rubes and SL - hurrah! LadyT - are you official yet? I've only been away a week and it feels like months!

spotofcheerfulness · 19/03/2010 15:20

I found that when I cut out T's afternoon milk )about 3 months ago) he ate a better dinner. He's now on 7oz in a bottle morning and evening.

Hello trace, hope you have a good appt with your GP tonight.

Am off on the razz in ole London tahn tonight with my girlfriends, shocking weather so will probably stay in but suffice to say plenty of cheerfulness will be imbibed. Actually I might take some miniatures on the train with me to get in the mood. Classy eh!

Have good weekends everyone, will be back tomorrow feeling v sorry for myself.

Oh, and good news on the scans .

spotofcheerfulness · 19/03/2010 15:26

Good luck, beans!
